Its important for hot toys to notice preorder cancelations and the outrage over this highly anticipated 300 dollar figure. Maybe they'll do something about it or make sure they wont screw up the Batman Returns 2.0 fugure.
Absolutely. Making noise online and canceling preorders is the only way to hold Hot Toys accountable. Sure, you could keep your order and just sell it if you’re dissatisfied, but that won’t register with Hot Toys.
@@jeffhudgins312 I think I'd rather another company give it a shot. I'm not impressed with Hot Toys lately. I think Inart is making nicer figures...if you actually ever get them.
Here's the thing, the texture issue is 100% wrong. It was on the prototype and there wasnt an uproar about it? They maintained the look to the final and now everyone wants to cancel. Makes no sense to me. Regardless if there more texture then the proto its still there.
Right? All these whiners talking about how they’re gonna cancel but my wait list has not converted. Let’s get it cracking complainers! Cancel cancel cancel!!!
I’ve seen all the photos and watched all the videos trying to convince myself it’s fine, but it’s not. The texture is indeed more than what was on display with the prototype and the face plate likenesses just aren’t there, with the exception of the bloody grin, which is really limiting. The cowl and emblem however are indeed improvements over the DX09, and that diorama base is fantastic. The DX09, however, has a better body and likeness. Somewhere between the two is the Batman figure we all hoped for. It’s disappointing because we’ve waited so long and this should have been an easy home run for Hot Toys.
I tend to disagree, in hand the texturing is no where near to me how its being blown out of proportion and its not something is enough for me to cancel the figure if I had it on order.
The suit looks like they sprayed it with flex seal. That spray sealer stuff that they sell at Walmart, as seen on TV section 😂😂😂🤔 I already have my DxO9 and I'm happy with it and I've been happy with it for over 12 years now. But it's 89 Batman and it's my childhood in figure form. The thing that got me thinking wtf hot toys was all the same accessories as the DX09 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ The only thing different was Vicky vale's smelly shoe. That diorama base is absolutely stunning and I want it. Yes they articulation is amazing and you're able to hold a pose. I'm still on the fence if I want to try to put this in the collection along with my dxo9. 🤔🤔🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
I respect your opinion. I respect everyone's opinion. It's ok to disagree about this stuff as people often do. For the most part it's fun to talk about and adds to the enjoyment of the hobby. That said, if you think I'm "full of shit and looking for a reason to cancel this preorder because I'm broke" you couldn't be more wrong. It's hard to find a bigger Keaton Batman fan than me. I buy frickin' everything. Most of it (for whatever reason) is inaccurate in some way and the Keaton likenesses are usually bad. I'm fine with it all. I'm just grateful that companies are even making 1989 Batman stuff this many years later. When I saw the first pics of the Hot Toys 1989 Batman 2.0 I was super excited. In my opinion the DX09 was very good but not perfect. This new one looked good but not great to me. I voiced some minor criticisms about the likeness and texture back then but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. It was good enough. I preordered immediately and I've been counting the days ever since. I started an entire collection of 1/6 because of this Batman figure. Multiple 89 Jokers, everything from Mars Toys. I even bought the Jazzinc 1989 Batmobile to go with it. All I wanted was for this figure to have a decent likeness and look at least as good as the prototype. But, I think the new photos are revealing the truth about the final version of this figure. Whatever you want to say about the photography the suit texture on this figure is dialed up to 11. It's not just inaccurate, it's also ugly. Softening or not, the head looks nothing like Micheal Keaton. Not just the faceplate, but the eyes too. The battle damaged one is the best of the group but even that only looks like him at certain angles. Compared to the eerie realism and lifelike qualities that you see on a lot of other Hot Toys figures.....this one is dog crap. As I've also said before, we all need to reserve our final judgements until we have it in hand. But, I have a hard time believing this is all smoke and mirrors and photographic trickery. Something went way wrong at some point and it took this figure from pretty good to dog crap. I'm standing on that. Now, if I get this in hand and I find out that I was mistaken I will be the first one to come out and admit it. It is inconceivable to me that I could even consider cancelling the pre-order on this........but I am. It looks like one of the stunt men in the Batsuit.
I value your comment and the time put into it thank you for that! I actually spoke to the photographer who took the blogger photos and there 0 tricks or editing to hide what the figure looks like. That being said, I finished my review on the figure and it will be up today and I made all my comments on how I feel about it. To me I thought for along time the DX09 couldnt be improved and I think they did in certain ways and in others they didnt. I will also be recording a complete comparison video this week going head to head.
@@mr.momcollectibles Thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing your new video on it now that you've got it in hand. It's SO different from announce photo, it's just bad. Keaton 89 batsuit is smooth, I'm not sure rn if Im gonna keep this figure. They're really should recall this batch. There's also several video review, not just photos
It's a great figure, very life-like, but there are a number of inaccuracies (cowl too rounded and not as rugged, angular as it should be, the noise on the suit, likeness is great with the BD faceplate, but just good with the others, the Bugs Bunny faceplate - what were they thinking??) which holds it back from being a definitive 2.0 unlike some of Hot Toys other figures.
You’re completely incorrect, my friend. The prototype texture was similar to DX09. What we got, the texture was wildly exaggerated. That’s my only criticism of the figure. However I shall now not be purchasing. Will stay with DX09.
@@DarkArynLand I think it plays it up slightly more so it stands out on the shelf. And you also won’t notice that type of thing when it’s on the shelf and not in your hands.
I saw the exact thing Hot toys are trying to replicate a couple months ago, and although the suit is “restored” and still has notably visible broken parts. It still very obviously doesn’t have the texture that this figure “proposes” For the money it’s worth….. I get it.

Yeah, both figures overall show positives and negatives. I definitely don’t think it says one sided as many people are making it sound, especially with the old one being force. I don’t agree with that at all, but I won’t rule it out as still being a great figure in its own right. But yeah, I could see people trying to hype up the old one, especially for collectors that are really on the fence and are uncertain of what to do.
I’m beyond thankful a new version was released. Point, blank period. I wouldn’t know about Hot Toys if it wasn’t for the DX-09. The price tag scared me many years ago and I didn’t pull the trigger. There are some things I like, some I don't. Firstly, the new cowl sculpt & cowl texture is spot on. The faceplate sculpts however look like a step back compared to DX09 although the paint app on them looks better. The eyes seem a bit off too but it could just be the face sculpts throwing them off. The suit texture is too rough. The prototype had a slightly rough texture but it looks exaggerated in the final production. The movie suit definitely didn't look like that. I said on your previous video that I wish they would've gone full accuracy and simulated the Lycra under suit with rubber pieces rather than a full rubber suit. It would've been fully accurate and helped with pose ability. All that said, I'm not canceling my order. I think it's still a nice-looking figure and I have a feeling it'll look better in hand. That might be cope on my part I admit but, I don't have DX09 and I'm just happy to have a figure to compliment my Jazzinc Batmobile when it arrives.
I didn't preorder version 2. Looking at some of the reviews that have come out and based on what I've seen, I personally prefer my DX09. The suit is too textured for my taste and the cowl looks off to me. And the faceplates on the DX09 looks more like Keaton to me.
