I love Snatch-grip Deadlifts! You activate the lats, upper back and traps to a greater degree while using a bit less weight, so you make so much more out of less weight especially for hypertrophy purposes! These and Trap Bar Deadlifts are my two favorite deadlifting variations.
But should you retract scapula in snatch grip deadlift as it is done in bench press or barbell squats? Or in snatch deadlift its only lats working as stabilizers?
Great video! I love doing these. But, with your lower body doing these vs. deficit Deadlifts, does it seem like it's about the same range of motion? Of course the difference is the hand placement. I know sounds crazy, but just wondering what you all think.

MindPump and Coach Eugene Teo are a blockbuster duo. So cool to see Eugene and MP partner together!
Snatchgrip-deficit-paused-deadlifts are my absolute favorite movement.
paused snatch grip, hard as fuck
Do they have good carry over to normal deads? Or would you say the added deficit is overkill with the snatch part being already deficit enough?
now make it Romanian too, SnatchGrip-Deficit-Paused-Romanian Deadlift, even 225 lbs will be tough for rep works
Love Eugene! Thank you MindPump
Been doing these for years. People in the gym look at me funny, but what do they know?
Mike D RIGHT?!
Mike D but you'll always have the last laugh
Loved your comment!
Because those are the type of people that only do bench press and barbell curls.
@@headbuster03 I want to tell all the guys I see shrugging to do snatch grip high pulls and heavy rack pulls...but it's none of my business.
Recently started the maps strong program so glad you uploaded this 👍🏼
Great instruction and handy advice with the knee sleeves! Also good to see an Aussie representing MP 🙌
Thanks guys, love it
Thanks, im gonna throw snatch grip into my routine
My favorite DL variation. I also love muscle snatches to add some power component to the pull.
Eugene's presentation is great. Nose picking comment was funny!
Had to watch twice to get a better understanding of your form. I do deadlifts, not always sure I’m doing it right. Thanks from Montreal.
Love this video; helped me figure out my SG Deadlift form after 2 years. Thanks a bunch!
Love it. Added mass to my upper back but I'm not as strong on it as standard deadlift.
Appreciate the breakdown!
Wtf ty I'm trying this, wen I'm finish healing ,for some reason I always had trouble with my form .
Would grips help with hands sliding during the lift?
Nice tip on the knee sleeves
That’s so weird, I just started doing these. Makes my torso feel more stable

Appreciate the breakdown, fully detailed explanation! Great video 👌
Will try...
Gotta get some wrist straps too! Thank-you👍♥️💪
Cool, first Time hearing about those. Nice to know. Thanks.
Looking forward to content from Eugene 😉😊
Great video, important points were highlighted well. Very helpful for noobies like me. 😅

Snatch grip deadlift recruits more upper back musculature. So if you wanna focus on upper back than snatch grip is great
@@IWantToStayAtYourHouse you think tap-and-go would be better for hypertrophy?
Good advice.
Is it weird if my snatch grip deadlift is higher than my regular conventional deadlift ?
Doing this one today.
I wear indoor soccer shin guards when deadlifting.
Ha...this guy is great!
Pretty much the best overall back builder you will ever do ….but it’s brutal
Everytime i do this people tells me to do conventional since this looks so weird😂 little did they know
Nose picking finger... Yes of course that is an actual term!
Use soccer shin pads. Even better.
Nose picking finger lol
Is it a dwarf?
Nah just someone who is having a much better life than you due to his hardwork
He's like 5'5". Not that short
I did snatch grip RDL the other day. My hamstrings and traps still burnn
3:45 thank me later
Practical movement. Most heavy objects we are going to lift are going to be large relative to ourself which will require trying to grab around it.
Anyone else feels a ton of soreness in the glutes after doing these?
guys just go look how weightlifters do snatch dead, this guy can't even make the correct hip position, let alone the bar path
