Working on an 09 and I am going to have to remove the center of the dash to get the glove compartment out to replace the HVAC blower motor. Don't know what's so special about this one but it has an audio in jack above the screw on the bottom to the far left. It's a 2.5L L5 but no special badges. So much for a quick job, but thanks for the videos. As a side note, this one doesn't have the pleated cabin air filter, it has a black plastic mesh filter box. I don't usually mind surprises, but this beetle could give me a break maybe?
Has anyone found a video on removing and replacing the door. They all get this far and leave me to figure that part out. Also he didn't show a step, the box is attached on the left and that is a pain to remove
This is a great video and helped me very much but there is another screw not shown just to the right and above the far left screw. You need to remove the black hazard switch console which has two screws to access it. The additional screw sits behind the small console.
@@newbeetlepr I think it is actually shown in your center console *removal* video, here: ruclips.net/video/H3qqqISSByU/видео.html But considering it is not necessary to remove the entire center console in order to remove the glove box, it would probably be helpful to show this screw or refer to it in this glove box video as well.
So I know very little about cars but I don't want to take my car to a mechanic just for a glove box. The panel that was removed at the 3:27 mark in my beetle has air bag warning stickers on it. Is it still safe to remove this panel.
There’s 3 more screws to get the glovebox free in my ‘03. The center console has two on the seat heater/hazard light panel. And one inside that panel that requires removal to get the box out. I can’t find how to loosen the lower panel, even with the two screws removed in order to get to that third screw!
The glove box that I used in this video is from 2003-2005. I made this video with center dash console removed. You can see my other video How To Remove Center Dash to remove it first.
I eventually watched that video and saw the additional steps needed to get the glovebox out. Unfortunately, I had already cracked a tab from the weight of the box suspended before finding your 2nd video. Please place some text telling folks about the center console hazard button section BEFORE tackling the glovebox. Maybe you could save the next person some grief
@@matthewbeach1001 The advice was already placed using RUclips cards on the top right after 15 seconds of video. I'm not sure that is displayed on mobile. Hope you can fix it. You can try with JB Weld (epoxy).
You don't need to remove the whole center dash console bro, the plastic around the seat heaters pops out just unscrew those two screws next to the seat heaters and there are 2 more below witch you can see and the whole peace with the buttons falls down then its just 1 more screw behind those buttons and glove box pops out
For the life of me I dont understand why people dont use drills/impact guns when working on cars, I refuse to use screwdrivers unless I absolutely have to.
You make great videos...I wish you would've made a complete dash tear down and heater core/ blend door fix video too
Thanks!
Love your videos ……thanks for all your help ……all the way from Australia 🇦🇺 😎
EXCELLENT VIDEO BRO, APPRECIATE THAT!
Is there any way put the original lock on a new glovebox so its not broken and you can lock and unlock it with your key? Also the aux cord.

This screw is part of the center console. Showed on this video: ruclips.net/video/qDsQ1tecya4/видео.html
I'm glad the video helped you. Thanks!

@@primovid Good advice. I will try to make another video without removing the center dash.
@@newbeetlepr That's too much trouble, I think. You can maybe just add some text to this video mentioning it.
Very good . Thanks
The left and right side holders of my glove box are broken. It is falling out. How to fix? New one is very expensive

The only air bag in passenger side is in the top of the glovebox and the black cover is safe to remove. Another airbag is on the seat.
Good. Thank you.
Need to see how to replace that bar above the glove box

Great video thanks, have you a video on how to remove the center console?
If you mean the radio area, Yes. I have a video showing the removal and another video with the installation of the center console.

Great video. Would like to know where you got the music track from. Thanks.
The music title is Game Plan by Bad Snacks. You can download for free from RUclips Audio Library.

So what if the handle is broken and you can’t open it to remove the inside screws? I’m screwed.
If the handle is broken, you still have a chance to open it with two levers that you can see with the handle out.
