1 person dead after being shot by Winnipeg police | FULL PRESS CONFERENCE

One person is dead after being shot by police at an apartment building in Winnipeg on Wednesday.
Winnipeg police said officers responded around 12:30 p.m. to multiple reports of a male armed with edged weapons in the 800 block of Main Street.
Officers who went to the building were met by an armed person, a police news release said.
He was shot with a Taser and by an officer who used their firearm, police said.
Officers provided emergency care to the person, applying a chest seal and tourniquet, police said.
He was taken to hospital and later died.
Manitoba's police watchdog, the Independent Investigation Unit, has been notified and is investigating, police said.
