    This is an episode where it’s just nice to sit back and bask in the nostalgia. Hits you right in the heart. Though I’m getting to the age where I can’t really tell if I actually saw these commercials or just wish I had.

    I love how they barely put any effort in trying to make that spider in the swords and serpents commercial look even a little bit real by just wiggling it around like a kid would with a toy spider xD

    I was a kid and teen when all these ads aired. Epic flashbacks! As an aside, when I was a kid, I thought the song 'Secret Agent Man' was saying "secret Asian man" I don't remember seeing the Golgo 13 commercial, but maybe it all makes sense now! Lol

    Great Nostalgia. The Bases Loaded 2 footage at the beginning got me. I remember that commercial and begging my parents for that game. Good times.

    i watched 7 out of 10 of those commercials growing up. Star Wars, Konami, Mike Tyson, Tetris, Game Genie, Super Mario 3 & Paper Boy!
    That Crystalis commercial looked awesome! Glade you had that as one of your picks as i never saw it before! Thanks for the fun memories!

    I remember the American ad for Legend of Zelda,where it showed game screenshots with some guy saying "Zelda?" over and over. I remember thinking "Wow! This game looks like Gauntlet!" Gauntlet being an arcade game I was addicted to back then.

    After beating Wizards and Warriors, I saw this commercial and knew immediately my next game purchase. I asked my mom if she would get it for me for an early Christmas gift. She went and borrowed money to get it for me that week. She's great!

    Golgo 13 was definitely one of my favorite games on the NES. It made me feel like I was a secret agent back in my young days.

    The Waltz of the Sugarplum Fairies used to scare me as a kid. I saw a horror movie where dolls came to life and attacked people while it played. Which is why I never chose that music during my Tetris games. True story.

    Man, the Mike Tyson commercial was it for me. I remember wanting the game so bad but my parents never bought it for me. 🤷‍♂️😢 I had to play it through my friend and I was hooked!
    Another commercial that is very memorable for me, is the crazy lunatic Zelda wierdo guy. 🤣Zelda! Zelda! Zelldaaaaa!

    In the Ironsword commercial, I noticed that the kid is using that POS Acclaim wireless controller. Nice continuity.

    I like how the version of Ironsword in the commercials shows Kuros in his "acorn" helmet from the other games rather than the "cross"/"eyeballs" helmet they went with in the end.

    That's just great. I haven't seen most of these commercials. So this was a real driven to the past and I sure miss the old school video game for hills not it's not the way it used to be that nothing is. And that's why you have this channel I know. I didn't want to be one of those funny daddy saying that used to be better in my day! But yet, here I am.

    Being that I was watching Sportscenter in a loop when I wasn't playing video games, I don't remember most of these. I'm sure ESPN showed Punchout as I remember that one. I also remember the Ironsword one, too. I loved that game, although the dungeon memorization factor kicks my butt now.
    Excellent fresh new idea for a video! That's why I love your channel. Because I do reminisce a time when life was just a little more simple.

    Man! You brought back memories! But the one commercial that really got to me was the one for Crystalis. Back in the days when it came out my young self thought it was a continuing Zelda game. Lol I was all confused thinking Link changed to different color clothing and why was the game made by SNK lol. Nonetheless, I was really hyped about it and I consider it one of the best RPGs for the NES.

    if not for the commercial i saw for the SEGA Master System, i wouldnt have known about it until i was an adult, as i explored the game consoles i missed out on via emulation, but didnt discover that until my 20s.
    EDIT: pity that so many commercials have become lost media, i dont remember seeing commercials for NES games but i do remember Genesis, SNES and Gameboy commercials.

    Have a look at the old Intellivision commercials. They are pretty fun. They usually compare gameplay with the Atari to show how much better the graphics were. And I can't forget Mr. Intellivision.

    Ironsword is a great game with amazing music, but is extremely difficult. The first Wizards and Warriors game is the easiest, because you have unlimited continues, and you always start off right where you die. Even in boss fights.

    Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse had a commercial that has stuck with me ever since I saw it, which has gameplay footage, but also shows Trevor morphing into each of his comrades, much like he seems to in the game. For a long time, it wasn’t available on RUclips, but that changed a couple of years ago.

    Man I remember so many of these from Saturday morning cartoons... how does Mario 3 not finish first though... that commercial was total hype for 10yr old myself. I had Ironsword as a kid. I was able to beat it as a teen it's pretty solid with some good ideas. The fact you get unlimited continues (I think) makes it approachable and beatable. You should give it a go. I have not played W&W 1 & 3 though.

    Ahh the star wars game was such a pain in my ass. I could never get pass the level were you have to destroy the tye fighters. When I finally beat it I ran around the house celebrating... I was 33😂

    I always liked the commercial for Super Mario Bros. 2 mainly because of the music. It really starts to get going, then at the 27 second mark it suddenly winds down.

    I'm surprised you like the Konami commercial in the 6th entry. That commercial has not aged well.
    I personally would've went with the Dragon Warrior 1 commercial.

      @@Fortefyre I also understand what the developers were trying to do with this convoluted password system, even though the logic was questionable. Since the game allows for 1 or 2 or 4 players at once, one could use their character(s) in different games. They could take their characters anywhere to play at their friend’s place if they had a copy of the game.
      Aside from that, I liked the game then and I still like it now. It’s Wizardry Lite, and I don’t mind. Even though they got the concept of armor class completely wrong. lol

    Did anyone ever watch the actual Japanese animation shows of Golgo 13? I always wondered why they were largely in the NC 17 section of the video store, and when I watched them as an adult it makes sense. It's basically animated p0rn..

    The Acclaim double wireless controller was utter garbage if you had a television that used a wireless remote control. Both operated on the same wavelength. If I accidentally pointed the controller at the tv, it would change the channel and the volume. I can only imagine that the Acclaim controller that you talk about here does the same thing.

    Funny, i don't think we got the first half of these commercials here in Canada....i def remember the last half of them, though (especially the Mario and Punchout, they were on heavy repeat).

      There were some unique ones in Canada and the UK, but most of them involved sponsorships through food items believe it or not lol.
