Yeah I doubt she is in military. Her excuses made no sense. Typically GI bill helps pay after you're deployed or service. You don't just languish in military go to school then go to basic.

There is something called the Delayed entry program that lets you sign up and then in 2-3 years your enlistment starts and you still have to go through boot camp.

Flufferz626 GI bill is AFTER you get out of the military. TA is during service and it’s all year. I would know I’m in the military 😂

Yeah, I'm in this situation now. Have caught my wife in a few white lies and now I question everything. She's super angry that I question her integrity. Very hard to deal with as we have a very young child

As someone who grew up with a parent that was a pathological liar, this does not end and it doesn’t get better. She’s not capable of telling the truth. These folks live in their own worlds and believe their own lies. I can guarantee there is so much more you don’t know, and 99.9% of what she’s told you is a half truth or a whole lie. I don’t advocate for divorce but, this isn’t a healthy relationship or a healthy environment to raise a family. I can talk for hours about the effects this has on the kids, my sisters and I still deal with stuff and we’re grown. Respect and love yourself enough to take your daughter and run!
Sozo is def telling the truth. My ex best friend was the same. There is no end and pretty much all is a lie. Not saying they are bad people, they just have a mental disorder. Its not something small in their head that they can easily fix, its a real illness

I just found out that my boyfriend has been lying to me since the beginning of our 6 month relationship. I knew he had lied to me about some stuff but this thing that I found out yesterday, it’s big and I didn’t expect it. I want to try to make things work because there are so many reasons why I love him, but I’m scared. I’m scared of being without him but now I think I’m almost scared of being with him.

He can't run! He has a daughter with her. Even he if he decides to divorce her, she'll get half of everything he owns, plus she will take away his daughter, and she'll get pay for it. Where is the equality in that? This is her fault, and he has to pay for it? It happened to me. I was married to a lier for 14 years, and I'm still paying for the price for it!

This young man knew she was lying from minute one and did not call her out but he let it drag for 3 years coming here to act suprised. I think he needs to work on himself for allowing the lie to drag for 3 years.

If you know someone is a liar, thief, cheat, etc. DON'T sleep with, make babies with, and do NOT marry that person. You won't change them, you are not so special that you won't also become a victim or "mark" for them. Avoid these folks, they are predators of the people around them.

@@jodysmith8048 Have you been through a traumatic experience before? This is what a legitimate therapy session would sound like with most traumatized and exhausted people would sound like. To each their own, but I think that viewpoint lacks empathy and assumes that we’re better than people that are genuinely hurting. Clearly this guy is on the brink of losing everything.
Stuttering is very common in traumatized, troubled and individuals that deal with PTSD. Surely you wouldn’t critique a veteran, kidnapping survivor or someone who was mentally abused their entire life simply because they stutter while they talk to someone of “socially elevated status” would you?

I'm betting she's not in the army, she's with another guy. He needs to document everything. He needs to get custody of that baby. He'll be okay but he has to grow up and demand that she and any other woman treat him with respect. He's apologizing for how he acted because of what SHE did.

I have a compulsive liar like this for a parent (she lied about graduating from college too, among literally everything else). It does not get better. She is absolutely lying to you about much, much more. She only came clean after you guys got married because she felt safe in the fact that you are legally bound to each other.

Reserve troops have routine training. I think 1 weekend a month and a big two week training annually I believe

He seems like a nice guy, maybe kinda low self-esteem, and that's who falls for these type of scam artists. She's been lying to him the majority of their relationship. He should probably get a paternity test.

Thing is, folks are always wanting follow up stories, but really, what happens in these people’s lives after the initial call is nobody’s business but their own, unless they willingly choose to let us know what happened. Simply because they chose to go public with this issue initially, that by no means mandates that they must share what happens from here on out. They have every right to keep that private.

Wow. I thought I was the only one this happened to. My ex boyfriend lied to me for 2 years about going to college. I found out through snooping (bad, I know) that it was all an act. The “ditching class” to hang out with me, the “writing papers”, the late night “study sessions” at friends houses. It was all a lie. Took me two years to figure that out 😳
WOW 😳 Glad you were able to figure it out and leave. As intense as school can be, I can't for the life of me understand why someone would lie about being in it. It's such a weird thing to lie about 😭

The fact that he said he "just trusted her" after figuring out she was lying is just asinine. Have some self-respect my guy! Get that marriage annulled and get a DNA test for that kid!

I just heard a true crime podcast about a husband who did this. He also moved the family to relocate for a new job that didn't even exist. He was a psychopath and ended up murdering his wife when his lies came out.

I don't know these people but it doesn't take a psychologist to know that both parties have some damage. Him for believing the lies he knows are lies and still not wanting to acknowledge it. Her for being what sounds like a pathological liar. I guarantee she's cheated on you. You have to start asking the hard questions. If she wasn't in school where was she spending all her time? Did she pay for school? If so, was there money coming in that now is unexplained? I don't know how any reasonable person can trust her again. I think you're in denial about the loss of this relationship.
Like many others have said, GET A PATERNITY TEST! Sprint away if it comes back as not yours!! Get a lawyer and don't look back.

My husband's ex was a pathological liar. It almost ruined his life. He needs to be very careful moving forward. Record as much of the lying as possible. She could say anything to try to bring him down.

She is either the worlds best liar or he is the worlds most oblivious husband. The fact that he was unable to see through the lies early on and did absolutely nothing once he did for so long, is incredible. It’s going to be very tough band-aid to rip off but I think he knows what he should do. She is living a double life and there is almost certainly another man in the mix somewhere.
If she is actually telling the truth about going to basic training, he should use that as an opportunity to plan an exit strategy without her manipulative influence being in the picture.
I think both of the conditions you mentioned have happened here: the oblivious husband and the skilled liar.
I hate to say it, but it sounds like these two are a match for those reasons exactly. :(

My brother played this game for 2 or 3 years, then finally came clean claiming suicidal tendencies, depression. He did it to lie to our parents because he didn't want to go, but they wanted him to. My parents are so toxic, he had to, but yet, now I'm estranged with them for calling out truth in all ways, and he's the golden boy.

Sorry, Sir divorce her. The worst thing for your relationship is for her to go in the military. I was in and the men will be all over her. Her being a liar just makes your life hard. My advice for you is to man up, focus on you and your daughter, stop sounding like a hurt puppy, get the sadness out of your system. There are better women in the world that will treat you and your daughter with the dignity and love you deserve. I know it's going to be difficult. I granuntee you if not now, you will still end in divorce. It's just a matter of time. John was telling you the same thing, but not saying it. He put sugar on it.

Being respectful here means don’t do physical harm to her as this situation will lend anger in waves like someone has died only its worse.

You are having a hard time communicating to John. I can only imagine how you communicate with your wife. Don't use your child as an excuse to not call her out for lying. Saying you are staying for the child is a fall back excuse, what you are really meaning is you are not ready to call it quits. I promise you that that's not all she has kept from you. You must have trust in a relationship or everything is false. I am not saying divorce her but, she has to be penalized for her actions, or she will never respect you and will keep being deceptive. I worked with troubled teens for a bit, if they are pathologically making up lies and stories there is a lot of unresolved issues surrounding that drive to lie as a coping mechanism.

You go away for basic training for normally 8 weeks and then on to AIT for another x amount of time. So she won't be home for MONTHS.
This breaks my heart. This dude literally sounds like a young child on the phone. “Like um..like...i guess...like totally i guess...” Low self confidence, low maturity, low critical thinking skills. And yet this guy has a daughter with this girl. This is modern america folks. Children having children. Children raising children. Women use birth control pills, IUDs, & diaphragms, all of which are a fair amount of trouble. I remember those contraceptive sponges, and that they could cause infections that may become septic.
Condoms don’t require any invasion of men’s bodies, and they’re inexpensive & easy to use. If they would consistently use condoms, it would decrease the risk women face from their contraceptives. It would be a simple fix for preventing pregnancy and STDs. Why can they not do this one thing for us?

My brother had a friend that did exactly the same thing. We had someone there university that pretended to be in med school. Bought books and all. Studied in the library. Highlighting and taking notes. It’s common.

My brother lied about going to school twice. Thankfully both times it was community college. My fiancé’s brother hacked into his community college and changed is grades, but was too dumb to think to change his average. His parents took him out of school before he could get himself into real trouble lol. Hoping our brothers genes stay out of our kids pools.

The caller became complicit in his wife’s lies when he covered for her lying to her mother. His integrity is already gone. It only feels personal because she lied to him too. Someone who lies to another will lie to you.
He knew that she lied to her mum when _she grew up._ - such lies can be self protection. Or she was a brat and kids can grow out of it. That itself is an interesting detail (broken dysfunctional family ?)

It depends on the branch because when I went (army) it was called basic training in 2016

Less pressure when no one knew. On my own paste, at my own time. I knew even if I said anything, I would get NO support but pressure and a mockery. Pray GOD will give me strength to reach my GOAL! 🙏🙏🙏

Betrayal trauma is a very real thing and it's similar to a diagnosis of PTSD. I feel like John needs to learn more about it so he can help these traumatized callers. She is pathological and this will NEVER stop.

I have a friend who dropped out of USC after the first year, he was holding tuition money in his account and used 7500 of it to open a business, he actually owns the second largest florist company in the world now, he was ashamed and afraid of telling his parents he couldn’t hang in college and wasn’t his dream. He repaid every amount he took before they even knew and bought them a 4 million home here in Los Angeles…some say he’s a thief and for me unfortunately I’m not sure it’s that simple.

How do you lie about going to college? This is top tier deception. I can’t even fathom the amount of work it would take to even make that up. And he married her never even going to her campus?
She’s extremely selfish and untrustworthy and he’s a doormat. He could’ve easily verified this and he didn’t. He chose not to dig deeper which also says a lot about him.

I’m so sorry you have been hurt so bad. It’s uncomfortable but if you don’t dump this chick she will never respect you. She does not respect you! You can have the paternity test RIGHT NOW before she gets home. NO she is not worth it ...being in a long term bad relationship will take years off your life you deserve more.For her to deceive for so long is pathologically callous and she is not going to change.

Some people lie about going to college because they really want to go, but haven't been able to because they aren't able to make the grade, literally. And then they create a subterfuge and cannot bear to reveal the truth. It's not something that I would do, but I can understand how it happens. It's wrong, it's also very sad that those people feel so not good enough inside of themselves that they cannot be honest about it.
