We put the Fecon DCR Blackhawk and the Fecon DCR Bullhog side-by-side and compared what the two forestry mulching heads can do, the similarities, and the differences. We run Viking knives on both machines.

An excellent and comprehensive course by Professor Jon Byrnes on the use and disuse of different Fecon cutter heads. I loved the explanation of the difference and why he doesn’t use the method known as “pawing,” attacking the tree from the top down. The only reason I’m familiar with that term is that I picked it up a from a previous video by Professor Jon. Having seen other mulching videos featuring that type of attack, I always thought if I had a machine I would never do it that way, because (a) it seemed like showing off, and (b) because Jon doesn’t do it, and if he doesn’t do it, that’s good enough for me. Now that he explained why not to do that my understanding is clearer. Jon would be in his element teaching students at a construction operators school. I see his success with Willie, Josh and Mike. I noticed that their style of operation is the same as his, indicating the same teacher. Heck, if I was an engineering student at nearby Clemson I’d offer to serve under Jon as an unpaid intern for a summer or two. Not only would I receive a quality education on running the machinery, but I would be educated on the local environment, it’s trees, soil and topography. Just watching these videos I’m getting an education.

@@UpstateBrushControl You don't need to be a professor to be a good teacher. Duh. What you do need is a passion and working knowledge of the subject. You also need to want to teach. Lots of teachers just want a paycheck. They don't give a damn about their students. You also need students that want to learn. Hard to come by sometimes. Your guys are apparently great students. They are also great workers. I have watched all of your videos. They work hard for you because you work with them and respect them. That ain't always the case.

@@UpstateBrushControl You shouldn’t knock yourself for your supposed “lack” of education. College is overrated. I have worked with college graduates who couldn’t get out of their own way. I’d much rather spend my time talking and learning from you than wasting my time with them. Why? Because you are light years smarter than they are; you know your subject and can communicate it. Josh, Micah and Willie are getting a quality education beyond anything they can learn in most schools. One of the main reasons I subscribe - other than to see you big shiny machines in action 😉- is because I always come away having learned something, and I worked in road construction while in college myself. I have a healthy respect for what you do and how you do it. You are a real professor, a real teacher, because you live your subject.

Stumbled upon your channel looking ways to protect the back of my Kubota 95. I really like what you have done with all the protective bars and cages I did here you say that the plate steel around the bottom of the back of your machine was 1 inch. I take it you ment it was a 1 in thick ? And did you build the cages or did you by them from the dealer. Very good videos thank.

I am sold on the RT120F, just want to run the Blackhawk or a Cimaf head. I used to work for GyroTrac but we don't get along and these new heads seem like they can kick GT's butt!
