The reason I like your videos so much, and the reason I keep watching is because, unlike a lot of others , you not only explain what needs to be done and how you’re going to tackle it at the start, but you keep the viewers in the loop throughout. Many - too many - other videos start out with the job at hand, but from then on until the closing, nothing, not a word. Watching the machines at work is fun, but without updates it gets real old real fast and soon I’m looking around. For instance, I loved the break you took to refill the CTL. You didn’t have to keep that, but it really added a lot to the video knowing little facts like how much the machine consumes. You also keep us informed about sudden changes of plans. You know well that no job ever goes exactly as planned and I love the fact you think enough of us watching to keep us in the loop. Watch a lot of other videos and you’d swear the machine never runs out of fuel, never breaks down, never needs maintaining and everything goes perfectly. Your videos tell a story, from beginning to end. They are well shot and extremely well edited. (Your editor is marvelous.) You also go to the trouble to make sure no two videos are the same. Different jobs require different tasks. This is why I watch and will keep on watching. By the way, nice touch with the anecdote about the client wanting to try out the Ventrac. If he buys one, you should get a commission from the company. 😉
Forestry mulching is fantastic! And it leaves the nutrients to return to the soil. Fight the urge to rake it all up. 50% will be gone in 2 years, 80% in 5 years. Keep nitrogen on it and the chips will break down much faster.
Love the way you used the sides of the Fecon to mulch the trees. Even out the blade wear. Man’s got serious skills. Must have been Josh in the muncher! 🤣
tut tut forgetting your Go-Pro the second thing you do when you wake up after your coffee is your subscribers lol...you have a second family now (so no pressure) is us subscribers you have to keep entertained....Great video....great job has always....Stay Safe UBC
I had this done in NY two days ago same sized area and looks beautiful like yours but hard to walk over it with huge lumps and bumps … how is it smoothed out
you need to see Adventures with purpose video here on youtube 3 days ago with this skid steer that a tow truck company added to it if you have not seen it already
Considering time John would it be better to have a flat bed trailer to load cut up trees for lumber or mulching off site than the machine time it takes?
Must be an older video than the last or you didn't want to use the demo grinder. Although you did stall the grinder some it still did a much better job than the demo grinder. So far, I know it takes time to get use to the newer one and all plus machine setting but seems the older model is a better fit . Use , time and all . Can't wait to see how well it works on other projects.
I’m working on clearing my land right now in East Texas how do you know what trees to keep and what to get rid of there’s so many good looking trees of course I’ll try to keep the large ones for sure
Start identifying them and you'll understand which you'll want to keep. Native vs non-native, hardwoods vs softwoods, "junk" tree vs a tree with good wildlife/firewood/lumber potential
Of course! In Connecticut they really do not care that much. And when they do, they do a sloppy job! Being in Connecticut myself, I can say that the forests are severely overgrown.
Correct Todd, that is the original unit and Fecon. Easy to tell, the old Fecon has a pressure gauge and does not stall like the lighter and wider "new" Fecon.
So you running 2 machines now, thats awesome, I have an Asv 120 also with FAE, im out in Oklahoma, I like to watch your work, yall do s really great job
You've got to find someone; friend, family, outsider to rent from that has a small piece of property to burn on. Letsdig18 has "burnFridays." It's all he [or a single person does] on that day. You could easily hire a person willing to tend a fire all day long. The large cement blocks used to section off the different stone/barks ppl purchase at garden centers would work great if stacked 3-4 high in a large semi-circle to contain the heat to help burn more efficiently. I'm 62, and retired; I'd love a once a week all day burn job; even 2 days if needed. An old skid steer, and I'd be off. Use a lrg. trailer w/sides vs dump truck; you'd save $ in the end; less wear/tear on Fecon/ASV. jmo
By doing this sort of "beautifying" you are actually creating an opportunity for invasive species to move in and cause long term damage to the forest. After mowing/mulching like this, you've just created constant work for yourself...Unless you continuously mow these areas, they will get taken over by honeysuckle or other invasive plants that thrive on disturbance. You're also making it impossible for new trees to survive and become the next generation of canopy trees. Old growth forests take care of themselves, but when you do this sort of thing, you're preventing a forest from ever becoming old growth. Just something to consider to anyone else considering mowing/mulching their wooded land.
LORD, I MISS FOOTAGE LIKE THIS, ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watching your videos , believe it or not actually helps me with my PTSD so I really enjoy watching them all
Glad we can help!
Job sites must smell amazing after u guys are done with all that freshly mulched wood.
Looks really nice and inviting to take a walk. Great job.
Both machines on the job and you would have knocked it out in no time!
It looks really nice John and I don’t blame you for not mulching up all those trees

Thanks
Wonderful property with the water down there. Will look spectacular once selectively cleared & timbers ground down.
They can count on y’all to turn a messy situation into a good looking one💯👍🏾
So glad to see another satisfied customer! In the upstate of SC? Hire these guys. I did and they’re better than advertised!

Love the way you used the sides of the Fecon to mulch the trees. Even out the blade wear. Man’s got serious skills. Must have been Josh in the muncher! 🤣

You guys do a great job. I watch for hours. Just curious, have you ever backed into a tree and how often do you have to sharpen those blades?
Good job man a nother good vid
Just like a park and keeps Bigfoot away😋 Michigan
Properties always look so much nicer once y’all have been there. I still think Brutus grinds wood into smaller chips than your new Mighty Mouse. 😉
Nicework
AWESOME

Good firewood
Great Job Guys!💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Someone setting in a deer stand just cussing up a storm! Lmao
Oh for sure
👍Was that your new machine and grinding head, seemed to working pretty good
Nope, we saw the original skid steer and Fecon.
Yes this is the older setup the new machine was on another job on the other side of town.
@@UpstateBrushControl Newer is newer; but is it better or just different? We shall see, eh John? :)
My heart sank at 17:15. I thought the machine broke
Got a little plugged up.

A Ventrac might be nice but I'm a die hard ASV fan now.

It would cost too much to get you guys up here in Connecticut lol
I was thinking the same thing about Maryland.
Of course! In Connecticut they really do not care that much. And when they do, they do a sloppy job! Being in Connecticut myself, I can say that the forests are severely overgrown.
Contact Vegoutforestry.com. They are in Connecticut.
John, did you trade in your old skid steer or do you have it still as a second machine? Wondering....that’s all.
I am also curious about the machines? That looked like the old ASV and cutting head. Are you going to run two skid steers and cutters now ?
Yes that was the old setup the machine was on another job on the other side of town
How did you like the head Fecon sent out for you to demo?
Job sight is looking good so far.
No to bad still getting used to it we will have it for a couple of months.
Keep on grinding 😂
When you have so many trees down, wouldn't it be better to have a chipper?
Did You bring your fishing pole ???
Not for this one, they just recently had some work done on the pond and had drained it so the word is there no fish.
👍👍😀🍁
you back to your old grinding head on the skid steer ?
No the other one is at a different job
Is Micah new with your crew? Don't think I've seen him before.
Yup, been with john for a few months. They all know each other from Church, if I heard the details right.
The boys went swimming as a reward?
Seems like a wood chipper would do the log and limb work about 4 times faster
Did you keep the old ASV
I think that was the old ASV and the original cutter head.
Correct Todd, that is the original unit and Fecon. Easy to tell, the old Fecon has a pressure gauge and does not stall like the lighter and wider "new" Fecon.
No we didn't sell it.we are keeping both machine. Yes that was the old one
What happened to the Blackhawk
I would guess it is not suitable for the type of work John does. The new one is more a grass field mulcher.
It was on another job on the other side of town.
So you running 2 machines now, thats awesome, I have an Asv 120 also with FAE, im out in Oklahoma, I like to watch your work, yall do s really great job
My wife is from South Carolina, the Gaffney area
@@dennisdison8210 nice thats we are only 45min away from the big peach. She will now what that is.
can you recommend anyone for this type work in the Shenandoah Valley, VA?
No sorry don't know anyone up that way.
what happened to closed caption for the hearing impaired?
Джон, а почему ты не купишь мульчер на экскаватор? Он гораздо удобней и не надо делать двойную работу!!!

Great upload, the guy who choose the background music needs SACKING,,, OR 3 months in prison
Start selling mulch hahaa
Looks nice but what a huge waste of fire wood
Seems really bad for runoff and erosion
The root structure remains in the soil, plus the mulch on top work to greatly minimize any erosion.
are you allowed to sell firewood from your jobs? might be worth it to get a firewood processor.
nvm forgot your in SC, im up in NY! lol not much firewood use down there
@@neutronstar6 LOL, you have that correct. I am in NC and rare is the wood stove, in SC, rarer still except in the mountains of the West.
There isn't much of a fire wood market around here. I don't know anyone who burns wood around here.
