I hear you my brother the USA is expensive. I moved from California to Florida in 2018 to save money then Florida prices exploded! On my early pension it's just not enough without being creative i.e renting a room out in my house, going back to work part time ect. In a few years 4 my SSI will only be 900 because they deduct for my gov pension...so I'm looking at 2400 with pension + SSI. But with the debasement of the US dollar and inflation it will still be tough People use gold and BTC as a hedge and store of value against inflation... but I think moving to Asia will be a better edge because the dollar will go further. What do you think.🤔 Thank you for the video. keep up the great content
Hello, I have been thinking of moving to Thailand as I plan retire as an expat But one thing just came across my mind recently that none of you talked about and it doesn’t like any of the expats are even aware of this issue. It has to do with use of Formaldehyde/Formalin on food products in all those south east Asian countries like Thailand, Malaysia etc. As you know, formaldehyde is carcinogenic and formalin is heavily used on food products in those countries. What’s your thought about it?
Hey Cooper. Since this video is a year old, I have to ask. If I have $400K in 401k paying out about 5% and a decent social security, I should get about $4K USD per month. I am going to be 63 when I leave the US next year and come over there. I like the idea of Jomtien. Minimum 55 SM condo with a pool. Will not have a girlfriend as I plan to stay single for the rest of my days. Wondering if you think that will be a pretty comfortable budget.
Another great video. Brooke mentioned he rents a scooter and he briefly mentioned the insurance for the bike. I understand that if you have medical insurance, if you have a serious accident, you will probably be covered but I was curious, how can you make sure that if you have a crash and injured someone, how do you make sure that is all covered?
True it may be cheaper to eat out, however doesn't mean it's the healthiest. Sometimes I like to cook my own food and clean it myself. On your other information was spot on...thanks for sharing.
Exactly. And they use carcinogenic oils and throw sugar in the meals too. It's a huge misconception that Thai food is healthy. It's simply less unhealthy than fast food
Thanks for the video and advice, last year, I lived in the Jomtien area for 6 months and my monthly budget was $3K and that's with companionship with a regular Thai lady for 3x a week and not buying any LDs and barfines. In my early 50's now and back to work in CA. Will do this again, next year.

@@graguitar6493 The first year I spent in Thailand, I didn’t really have a budget and just did whatever I wanted. I lived in short term rentals, so that added to the cost. Hi, I have been looking at some of the condos online. They give you the cost to buy but no one talks about the condo fees. Would you have a ballpark number what the fees would be on a 1br condo? Thanks for your help.

I live in bang saray. I'm single and I usually spend 100k a month. I pay 9000baht for my condo and approx 1-1500 for electricity and water. I own my aerox 155 but it burns threw fuel. I'd spend about 1200baht on fuel. Food is pretty stable for me. I cook my own breakfast 6 days a week make my own 1000 calorie fruit juice for lunch 5 times a week. Do a steam veg cook up that lasts me 3 meals a week and eat out all other times. I'm guessing my food budget would be around 20,000 a month. If you throw in washing and toiletries and occasional extras I'd say my living costs would end up around 40-45,000 baht a month. Entertainment is where I blow my cash big time. I have 1 long time and 2 short times and a 3 hour happy ending massage a week. Then there's beer, weed, lady drinks the occasional bar fine on top of that be it I usually stick to my regular freelancers that don't cost me bar fines. All in all this comes out to be around 100k a month. I make about 110k a month through my passive income so it's all in good balance for me.
Can i ask your age? 50k a month on women and beer sounds great but i’m in my mid 50’s and would be dead In 2 years at that rate! Smiling but still dead 🤣
@@onlyme2030 I'm 52 but that is accumulated on every aspect. I only shag 4 times a week (3 girls) and one happy ending massage and never get rotten drunk. Don't drink everyday
Why don't you use Thai baht when you talk about budget? The exchange rate for Euro, Dollar ore Pound change value all th time. I'm from Norway, a country with our own currency. That's mean I have to first think about exchange rate from nok, to pound ore Dollar and then over to Thai baht. I think using thai baht would be normal since you Talkin bout money spent in Thailand.
Great vlog Coop. But you and your buddy never mentioned health care. If you have diabetes, heart disease, a neurological disorder, early dementia or a cancer, you can get whipped out (Look at the last of the old Kev in Thailand vids). And most retirees, like you and yer homie, are no spring chickens, and I am taking a wild guess here, that neither of you are in tip top shape. Thus, you should have a big nest egg or health insurance. I don't think that you can use Medicare overseas, although there are some hospitals that you can use veterans insurance (correct me here).
Hi Frank. Thanks for your comment. Right now we are looking at all options for medical insurance. I think I found a cheaper and better option. But until I have all the details I don’t want to blog about. I like to have all the facts first. As for veterans insurance you can go on their website and check if it’s accepted outside of the States. I never looked into that personally. But that is where I would start Brother
Great information Thank you 🙏🏻 Awesome 😎 But you did not talk about cost of the girls, this will cost a lot more 💯 mature men are respected by Asian women in general
You are based in Thailand, where we use Thai baht. You guys always talk in USD. Surely, you must realize that many expats are not American. Everything in Thailand is sold in Thai baht, even rents.
Its actually a Honda Click 160. Its 3500B per month for long term…4000B on a month. Owners name is King, Thai Scooter Service in Pattaya is business. Great service and they have a 125 for less.
There are plenty here for that price Fred and very nice too. With that pension you will have a very good retirement here. As for adult entertainment. I’m married brother. Not my scene. If your single then mingle and enjoy Brother 👍
Great but $300 a month for "5 star" is not reality, you need to pay 15k if you can find a good deal, but 18k to 30k is more real and the higher that price the better the view and the more modern and new a place you will get. I have been looking and have looked an hundreds of places online and dozens in person, you can get the 8000 to 10000 baht places and many available and may be perfectly nice and fine but not luxury.
What you said about US “Pension” amount is not correct. I assume ur talking about Social Security? The $1800/month is the average monthly benefit. But Your monthly amount depends on how much you paid in over your working lifetime, and at what age you retire and claim it. I’ve earned enough so far to qualify for the Max amounts. If I wait until I’m 70 yo, for example, I’ll get $4500/month. At 67 yo, I’d get $3500. But my wife already retired but didn’t earn as much as me and only gets $2500/month.
Thanks brother for the info I’m 53 so got a long way to go yet. I just worked mine out on the average amount. I do know you can make more my hats off to you brother 👍
Wait until.u are 70, that way u can topple over n die, then the government does not have to pay you, after all USA is on debt fir over $33.4 trillion cuz of evil nonesense outrageous wars like bold face lies of WMDs in Iraq that never existed So Sonny keep working till 70 then roll over n die, so US government gets ur coin
Some people die after collecting for just a few years. We should never ever wait until 67, or 70. I started collecting my pension at 50 although I wanted to wait until 55, so I could get at least $3,200/month, but I needed so bad and I am now getting $1,715/month. At 62, I will collect my social security $1,546/month and I will collect it next year.

The issue with being single is you need the bars and girls. I'd spend 100k a month and more than half is on women, weed and booze
@@graguitar6493 The first year I spent in Thailand, I didn’t really have a budget and just did whatever I wanted. I lived in short term rentals, so that added to the cost. Anyway, when I went back and added it all up, I think it was about 150,000 baht a month. Currently, I rent long term and I’m trying to be somewhat health conscious, so I’m not in party mode every day.

Hi Joseph. It called. Dusit Grand Park 2

Our place here is $300 a month and very nice. It’s called Dusit Grand Park 2. Let me know if that is in your budget brother 👍
That is exactly what we are doing as coming over in late April next year
Hi Erroll. If you come in late April that will be low season so you should find a good deal on accommodation. Thanks for your comment brother 👍
@@CoopersThaiAdventure Hi Cooper watched your vlog about your condo with the costs and it just shows you what you can get plus also brand spanking new.
Just hoping the flight prices start to come down as still very very high, which is why I think the bars are a bit quiet.
I’m with you there brother they charge way too much and should be regulated so everyone can afford to travel. Looking forward to April next year I bet 😄
@@CoopersThaiAdventure I'm counting the days mate and just starting to sell off our household goods bit by bit over the months ahead. We are booking a hotel for a couple weeks first, then a condo for a month, and then if all goes well a long term yearly rental.I figure that way gives us time to sort visa's and bank accounts out.
Smart man. That’s the way to do it
Find a woman that you dont need to financially support.
A female that is dependent on you will add 25/30% to your cost of living.
Stay single and enjoy the party life until you do find one that has her own income and does not need a man but wants a man.
My ladies income is 40,000 baht a month, I match her income giving us 80,000 baht a month to live on, we get by on 50,000 baht and save the rest for trips away.
We live in a 3 bed town house in bkk giving us heaps of space compared to a tiny condo.
Do you have a yard??? Gardening in my soul food. It's relaxing and decompressing.
Your doing very well brother my hats off to your sir.
Great advice, my Mrs works, we split the car payments, I pay for the house 3500 a month 😂, love this country

Wow that great Andy that less than $723 American a month. And I bet you happy and enjoying life on that budget too. Can I ask what you did and budget for medical insurance brother ??

Hi, I have been looking at some of the condos online. They give you the cost to buy but no one talks about the condo fees. Would you have a ballpark number what the fees would be on a 1br condo? Thanks for your help.
Depends on the building sir. They normally charge by the square meter. Different areas have different rates
@@CoopersThaiAdventure Ok, thanks anyway.
Renters do not normally pay condo fees in Thailand that is normally paid by the owner.
Forgot health insurance; phone use, visa costs and motorbike insurance.
Health Insurance $2000 per year
Phone is $15 per month
Visa is $450 per year from 2nd year onwards
Bike insurance and tax is $30 per year(just renewed it today) Nixon 👍

I changed it in the new videos and American $ where possible
Baht and US $.
no idea what a buck is, can you please quote prices in baht
36 baht to US dollar
So if your budget is $2000 a month that equals 70 baht a month for a couple

Coming from Philippines where we were living this is definitely a 5* 🤣
I think i can live comfortably for $2,500 usd for one person that is not interested in alcohol, bars, clubs, cigarettes, and girls.
You will live great on that amount Louis 👍❤️👍
@@CoopersThaiAdventure Probably the biggest expense is health insurance.
Wait until.u are 70, that way u can topple over n die, then the government does not have to pay you, after all USA is on debt fir over $33.4 trillion cuz of evil nonesense outrageous wars like bold face lies of WMDs in Iraq that never existed
So Sonny keep working till 70 then roll over n die, so US government gets ur coin
That’s great your on a winner brother. You will have a great retirement on that budget 👍❤️👍
You spend in TBH in Thailand, so why quote US$ ? Maybe you only want US viewers.
