Installing a small culvert pipe

- Using a Komatsu PC15 excavator to install a 8"x20' culvert pipe under a driveway to fix a water drainage problem. Than dump spreading gravel to re-surface the driveway.
It's 03:06 AM and I'm watching a dude digging a drainage pipe down..
I love it 😂
Much love from Denmark 🇩🇰
That's how I got hooked on his channel my video was 4 am baked out of my mind watching him bury a seep septic system and he buried it twice lol
Steffen Gaardsholt jeg sad også meget tidligt og så den her video første gang
I watch AC before bed like every night, and when i wake up i finish the video i started before bed😂
I am danich
I usually poop alot when im watch youtube
I've said this a dozen times but you do great work buddy. Neat, efficient and clean. I also was watching an older video of yours where someone was criticizing your welding...probably a professional welder. You should ask those folks if they can run an excavator, run a dozer, build a container home, fix a truck, etc, etc, etc. You weld fine in my opinion. Keep up the good work.
It’s amazing how you find the perfect of big stones to cover the culver ends and make it look nice
Sometimes people make an unfair judgment about your equipment, instead of the quality of your jobs. I like your equipment, because it’s managed by yourself, so you know its strength and weakness. Thank you for sharing your amazing video. God bless you and your family
Carsten Andersen ya that’s common unfortunately.
Carsten Andersen - nice comment bud 👍🏼
I mean, the equipment ended up beeing the same 🤔😂
@@RubenKelevra similar not same 🤨
It happens a lot. My business partner and I do quotes in our personal vehicles, 2015 ram 1500 and a nice new Honda sedan then show up with our old F550 dump truck, Kubota excavator, bobcat skid loader, Chevy Silverados all easily 10-20 years old 😂 sometimes you've just got to play the part initially then show them why you're always the one people get referred to.
Glad Andrew put a new video up. I was really feigning for one. Hope he does some snow plowing, hot tub, firewood, snowmobiling videos soon.
There is a long chainsaw video that should be next.
I like what you do. I have fun when i watch you digging and solving the problems
Thanks to you

Astonishing how the owners did not give you the job in the first place using a "contractor"who fed them a banquet so increasing the price.
Yeah, if I had a contractor ask me to do a job that I had already priced, I wouldn't be doing it for him for one thin dime less than I would have done it for the customer. Furthermore, I would have told the contractor that HE arranges the utility locate, OR signs off on my work order, accepting all liability and responsibility for fixing it, in the event I should "find it". You know darn well anyone subcontracting out a job will be tacking on a cut for themselves (read: slicing a percentage off the total of to keep before paying you the rest). I'm not saying you should burn a contractor, as some day YOU might be the one having to sub out jobs, but I just think that fair is fair. Andrew priced the job and for whatever reason the customer goes with someone else, who somehow gets Andrew to do the work in the end. If I priced a job at 1200 bucks, why would I want to come back and do it for someone else if they want to pay me less than that?
Andrew gets his money, contractor to ,owner pays a lot off money 😂,better give Andrew the job in the first time mister owner👍🏻
People are weird and finicky about stuff. Must of not liked something about the estimate for some dumb reason. Maybe they got a funny feeling because he travels everywhere with his dog! ;) Nice work, Andrew!!
@@stanpatterson5033 If I may Mr Patterson,I run a small cleaning and maintenance outfit here in London.Over the years, too many to be remembered,I have been refused jobs, only to pick them up as a subcontractor. One stick in my mind,I had my eye on a juicy maintenance job at the Houses of Parliament, well we unsurprisingly failed to get the job as most of my crew were not a bunch of socially acceptable. However we got the job as a subcontract at better money,.As we were unable to "pass security"the contractor just had to verify us for security,so there we were doing the work and the man who turned us down waltzed pass, within seconds we were surrounded by armed guards demanding to know what we were all doing? We all replied working, their security protocols had failed miserably but we finished the job and still got paid. Now they are one of our biggest customers.
Andrew is One of My FAVOURITE YTs !!! -- I Eagerly Look-Forward to Each New Video! :-)

The ability to see a solution for a problem is a rare quality.....a combination of common sense and god-given talent to envision a finished product that works and looks good. You have those qualities Andrew. Those abilities with your willingness to execute without fear of failure is what sets you apart, and I think is what makes your work appealing to watch. I wish you all the best.

Great job man. You are like a surgeon with that machine.
My 3 year old wanted to watch videos of workers installing drain pipes so we searched and found your channel. I’m glad we did because he loves it and I do too. Thanks for the good content.
Thanks.
I can appreciate your detailing and cleanup. I know the customer does to and that really sells the job. Having the right tools for the job like you do don't hurt a bit either!! Great work.👍
If I was to hire a contractor, and the contractor had evidence of his work on RUclips, and I could actually see the work without calling for references, I think he/she would be my first choice.
I will bet the contractor showed up in a nice new Ford F350, nice clean boots, Rolex watch and this is why the home owner picked the guy. And, instead of telling the homeowner, this job is to small and referring it to Andrew, he figured he would skim his beer money off the top and sub out the job. Typical contractor and homeowner.
Typical unsupported conjecture by a RUclips keyboard expert...
@@buckhorncortez I personally know of several contractors in my area that ride around in new trucks and own no equipment and do no work. They sub it all out.
Don’t blame the contractor he was smart enough to hire Andrew and make some money.
Yes it cost the owner 3000 more
Your comment was right on the mark. Andrew shows up in a battered pickup, jeans and flannel shirt. They get one look at him, and given his youth (he comes across even younger than he is in these videos), they figure he’s a mere toro who will end up making a dog’s dinner out of it. As you said, the contractor comes over in a luxury vehicle wearing a Rolex and wearing a dazzling business suit. He reeks success. What they don’t know is the he subbed it out to Andrew, the guy they were unimpressed with (or they would have gotten back to him), and he does the job and more. Watch the video; he gave them more than what they had paid for. Meanwhile, the contractor is probably getting the referrals that should rightly go to Andrew. The same thing happened to my company. We were underbid on a contract to lay storm sewers and repair a residential road. The company that won the bid used rented equipment. It was the first time I ever saw a Poclain excavator. And who wound up being subbed to repave the road? We were. Since it was a local town job with a grant from the state we suspected bid rigging. One of the town engineers told us they should have hired us. It cost thousands more to have us as the sub-contractor.
Andrew I think you could pick your teeth with your komatsu glad to see you working
Phillip Jones hes getting better every day. The detail on placing rocks is amazing . Keep up the good work. Plus the videos r proof if he ever has a problem.
Lol
Picking his teeth? He could probably do a root canal with that thing.
Heh, i bet he could eat his lunch with any of his excavators. XD
I've watched many of your videos. What impresses me is your willingness to go the extra mile. That is, even after you have completed your job at a site, you clean up around it and your spend time and money, wear on your equipment to just ensure the everything looks good and is cleaned up. Your professionalism is admirable. Good going!
Nice to see how tough that plastic culvert is even being so shallow. I was a bit surprised the dump truck could drive right over it so soon after it was installed. Great vid man! Loving your channel!!
It won’t hold up, the bedding material is inadequate and you really need at least a foot and a half of cover for any traffic.
As always, looks like another Camarata job well done. Happy Holidays everyone

Another fun project. Suggestion for the next video: Building a set of trailer ramps.
You sir are an artist with that machine. Beat up truck, beat up trailer, and beat up excavator and still do better work than I've seen guys with shiny equipment do.
Going the extra mile by clearing and cleaning up the work area and putting stones by the ends of the pipe is a nice touch. Shows you take pride in doing a good job!
I have bid jobs, not get the job, then get hired by someone else. When that happens I just add 10% to my original quote that I saved.
More likely, Andrew made less and the owners paid more.
Sure is nice to see the positive comments in here lately.....cheers
You handle that machine almost as though it were an extension of yourself, such is your skill. If I could, I would hire you!
I just found this channel and I have to tell you my son is obsessed! He loves "pipes" colverts and loves excavators. He's been intensely watching your videos for over an hour! Thank you!

Thats cheap ass customers, while you are here can you just get this little bit for free, yea an extra hour and another trip before I can get my hoe home.
4:55 So satisfying when the dam breaks.
Watching several of your videos where you do culverts, I must say its awesome to see the entry/exit stone placements you do, and incredible that as you dig you seem to always have good large rock/bolder options come up with the trenching.
wish the same care and attention to such things were on the minds of all gen.contractors that fail to do such things.
I also had no idea how effective these culverts were until watching your videos. Awesome job
Another professional job great video Andrew.. I was shocked when you pulled off an 8" culvert pipe , I thought this is not Andrew Camarata he only uses heavy duty 20" plus pipes then you mentioned utilities and I knew then it was all explained. I will take this chance to wish you all fellow subs and the Camarata`s a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year
A fool and his money... . The owner should have gone with Andrew to start with
Andrew, you are an honest man. That is a rare thing to find in today's world, and especially in contractors. Just about every contractor I have ever encountered tried to screw me. But I knew they were trying to screw me so I headed it off at the pass and did not let them have the job. I applaud you for being honest. And I would bet that you do far superior work to those dishonest contractors too.
My favorite videos when you use the excavator watching trench digging and water flow, simply mesmerizing { should I see a shrink) and the monster dozer cutting thru everything .
I got to the office an hour late today. I had a massive stack of paperwork to get done, phone calls to make, emails to answer, etc... But wait! Is that a new Camarata video? Work can wait.
Thanks for the great video mate, it makes you laugh the way some people think , hired a contractor to then hire you to watch you do the job you quoted on, and I hope you charged more , but after watching your channel for a while I bet you didn't ,also like the way you finish headwalls on your culverts ,cheers from down under.
He didn't charge more, but you can bet they paid more, the GC isn't facilitating for free.

It seems many folks in your area have this same issue. You've uploaded a few others that were very Similar to this. I like doing drainage work myself. Feels good to fix it.
Great work.
700 bucks to locator utility they must be smoking crack.
I do it for 300.
811 marked 1000' of line for me for free at my last house in NY.
In Ontario Canada they do it for free so we don't fuck it up on them lol cheaper for the utility companies to come locate than it is for them to fix it when someone does damage and doesn't report it
Nice job! This is just a suggestion so don't take it personal, cleaning and maintaining good looking equipment goes a long way in how customers see you. You could be the best operator with the greatest ideas for getting the job done, but showing up to a job with tools that look the way yours do leaves a lousy impression. People like pretty unfortunately. It might be why you didn't get the job in the first place. How you present yourself and your tools is the first step in landing jobs. I would imagine you've heard that before. At any rate the job was done and done well. Oh one more thing, never admit on camera that you never call utilities, that hit me right between the eyes. As I said just suggestions, the work is fine, Appearances go a long way. Thanks for the video.
see alot of comments assuming Andrew looked shady and thats why he didnt get the job but was subcontracted it and maybe took less money , assuming he got the same rate ever consider its possible Andrew just priced this culvert which the owner thought was a cheap fix while the contractor priced multiple fixes on the property and either the owner consider the multiple fixes worth the contractors price or the contactor under bid and ended up giving Andrew most of the profits... just some angles to think about, sometimes people take your prices as high or low just beause they dont understand the work and view it as incorrectly easy or hard
Love Andrew’s work but I am beginning to think the gravel is just icing on the cake. Visual pleasure for the homeowner, great to drive across for 2 months, annoying for 6 months, gone after 2 years.
what would u replace gravel with, just leave it as mud?
Another fine job Mr. Camarata

One of the big things I see in your work is that you care about how it comes out, you're not just there to do the minimum
In Tennessee it's a free service to call 811 for each utility company to locate their utilities if they provide the utility. But if you install it yourself, than that's your responsibility. I can't believe they would charge $700.00 to mark the spot. It's highway robbery. Normally utilities companies don't know where their utility is, that's why they come with special eqipment. Maybe if you ask them or give the person that comes out a tip, they can help locate them on your property. That is, if you happen to catch them while they are locating on road. Usually if you're at least 24"- 30" deep on utilities your safe. Utilities shouldn't be to close to the driveway but it depends on who put them in.
"That utility line should be at least 18" down so I should never see it." Proceeds to dig 3' deep trench. : )~
I thought the same thing
A.C. : I will just dig slowly ... proceeds to gouge bucket full of soil out of the ground LOL...
Great work Andrew thanks for sharing 🌧🌧
Nicely done. Love the way you capped the culvert with the big stones. Wish you lived close to us, I'd hire you for my drainage problems. Thanks for adding the video to your workload, I learned some good things.
The way you placed those three rocks on the discharge side is awesome and it looks darn good too!!
Well done M8! I bet they call you directly next time. 😊
Brings to mind the old saying Andrew; 'You can pay me now, or pay me later!
811 is a free service here as well. I also own my own locator as well if I’m unsure about a job. I have the Dynatel 2273 it’s awesome. It locate tell you how deep it is, finds breaks and shorts. Works on power, phone, cable and any tracer line that was installed for water sewer gas or even irrigation. Well worth the investment in this line of work.
Andrew, it looks like those ramps could use an upgrade. 😃
And a lot of your faithful fans would love to see you repaint that Komatsu.

Andrew, i know that what you do is not easy but, you sure make it seem so. I think you are the best man in the business.
I agree with previous comments on picking up your own locator. They are very easy to use and can be used to locate any conductor. Some of the cheaper units even let you know how deep things are. Damaging utilities even once would pay for it twice over. You can use for locating other things like propane lines, underground dog fence and driveway lighting. It will help even while estimating jobs.
Late night video hell yeah!

Your videos keep me calm, and the oxygen helps too
Andrew, I love to see your projects. They are so neat and complete, like you would do it for yourself.
I just wish you would find a way to be able to trace utilities when you excavate!!! For the best reason, safety and second to reduce the risk of damaging and then having to repair or replace utilities. It would be far cheaper in the long run to find them first instead of relying on "well, I'm pretty sure where they are...".
That job just cost the customers and extra 20% for the contractor, they shouldve just hired you direct .
Probably paid double! Andrew is efficient and charges pretty low I've noticed
@Blank. it may have , seems like the logical thing to do .
With the savings they could have gotten extras like ditch to from the approach.
That's terrible about your utility location services. 811 in my area will come out if your planting a tree.
Maybe consider buying a locator yourself? I would also call in any tight areas and keep a log of the phone call just in case.
I agree about Andrew getting a locator. I can recommend the Amprobe 3500 and there are other less pricey models available.
100% chance Andrew could MacGyver some stuff from the Castle to find Utilities.
Michael Novak that’s a good one, easy to use, it will pay for itself the first time you find a power line, then it’s free.
811 won't locate private electrical or gas lines. They only locate public lines. This was clearly private electrical because it was between the meter and the house. The utility is only responsible for the utility side of the meter. Since this circuit was past the meter, there should be a service disconnect at the meter that could have been turned off to ensure there was no risk of hitting an energized conductor.
@@Dannyboy1550 In Utah and Alaska, they will mark any utilities anywhere on the property in the areas you are working.
Another job well done Andrew, I like how you used those the big rocks to your advantage to hold the pipe in place and to hide the ends, shows you know and care about getting the job done right!
I’m only speculating here, based on what Andrew said in the video. The customer may have been hesitant to hire Andrew if Andrew told the customer during his bid visit that he doesn’t call to locate utilities. The contractor probably said “Don’t hire a guy if he won’t locate the utilities”. Once the $700 additional cost came out, the customer was suddenly ok with not locating the utilities. This is pure speculation on my part. Thanks for posting these videos, Andrew.
Keep em coming Andrew.
I am very impressed by your work
Very addictive videos from this guy, never getting tired of watching his skillful works, its 10 PM, I can't believe myself behind my computer monitor from this afternoon non stop, wow.
You’re doing the job anyway which means they’re paying more for the same work. Always amazed at how people think and what they choose.
You may want to invest in a toner for locating privately owned underground utilities; all underground utilities should have a trace wire to allow for toning. 811 only covers the “municipal” side of things and while some, like NYSEG will mark all the way to the meter not all will and some will only mark within the roads right of way; one big exception is pipeline companies who seem to be the best with marking, assuming you have a pipeline going across your site.

Good job, big and small do them all.
Andrew when patching the holes in the road way if you will tare up the old roadway and remove the under layer of the hole then fill up with hard material the repair will last longer. Piling gravel into a hole will not patch a hole. the gravel gets pushed out by tires and the hole reappears quickly. Patching the hole from the bottom up will give a longer lasting repair
I hope the client spread your name around after the job . . . great video
What do you do with all the trees you cart away. Do you take them to a factory that turns it into mulch and woodchips?
In some videos he takes them back to his castle and puts them on his bonfire area and burns them. Sometimes the owners tell him it's okay to dump them back in their woods.
I hope you raised your price for the same job. Interest.

@@AndrewCamarata Sometimes people think the price is to low for you to do the job correctly,,,, Not saying that this was the case, but I have run to this problem in the past...
