Outstanding! Excellent reasonable effective solution! I agree it should be deeper, but bedrock is bedrock. Another usually less effective option would be to use two smaller pipes side by side so the top of the pipes would be lower. Perfect slope on the pipe. No wasted motion with the excavator. Great job on delicately moving the tree limb twice, and great packing with the bucket. And you included your trademark stone wings and caps on the pipe ends. The land owner is penny smart and dollar foolish. What old pipe? It was long gone. It is always frustrating when the customer will not let you do what needs to be done for the best result. Some people refuse to understand that cheap work is not good and good work is not cheap. Going back the second time, your price should have been higher because she wasted your time the first time out. The limestone finished off the job beautifully! You made the most of that limestone. Nobody gets out of the truck and hand rakes limestone! The landowner should be delighted with the beautiful result. Your video production has become very polished and professional! Happy Thanksgiving!
My Grandfather did this work all his life. He told me one of the biggest signs of a bad operator is an unwillingness to ever get out of the machine. Getting out and setting those stones by hand really showed how good an operator you really are. Grandpa Al would approve.
glad you mentioned it's not deep enough so people don't get confused. Also worth noting from an engineering perspective a pipe is treated like an arch. The backfill and compression of solid 3/4" or 1" stone around the pipe walls while putting it in is way way way more important than putting gravel on top. The load should get distributed around the sides if done correctly.
lifeisgood070 actually COMPACTION of the best aggregate (being 304) not 3/4”-1”, entirely around the pipe, meaning over top of it also, is 100% just as important. The thicker the cover the better because it helps “bridge” the pipe. I can go to 3 locations right now and show you that not covering the pipes (steel, concrete and double wall plastic) is being damaged, deteriorating and crushed in but the bottom 3/4 is perfectly fine. You might want to check with an actual ENGINEER before assuming you know anything about an “engineering perspective”.
@@mysticarsenal We said the same thing. #304 should work fine. Yes it would be better at compaction tests. Angular will compact well. around the sides and top is what i said, sides being more important yes. A couple inches on top will help. So will dirt.
Great video. I've been maintaining my 900ft gravel driveway through wetlands in New England for the last 18 years. The best thing for stubborn potholes is the scarifier teeth on a box blade. Set them deep. I found if you don't tear up at least a couple inches below the bottom of the pothole, it will consistently keep coming back. I picked up a cheap rosco 1-2 ton, split drum roller, between the box blade and the roller I can keep my gravel driveway like pavement pretty much all year long.
Yep you guys are all correct. If you want to get rid of a pothole you have to dig down a little deeper than the pothole itself that will help erase the memory. Fill it back in and compacted and you're good to go
Man I love your work ethic.. you don't disappeared after completing the job. But instead you come back to see what it looks like. Great job. I wish you live in CT.

Its so refreshing to see an excavator actually go back with hand tools to put the finishing touches on a job. I maintain 600 feet of complicated driveway with a few woods roads. I have installed perhaps 10 plastic culverts. One trick I learned if possible is to dig a silt hole on the uphill side of the culvert to catch solids before they enter the pipe. I also hand set the culvert with a level. I suppose its just inexperience with my back hoe. I can never get the ditch right with just the machine. I tend to over dig and then adjust the set of the pipe with what ever is laying around so its got a few degrees of tilt. This is by far my favorite channel. My grand son loves the machines almost as much as Micky Mouse.

That CPP pipe is some tough stuff. I've run over those with a 36 tn. tri-axle with only 3 in. of cover and it takes it, mind you it will crush the ribbing but that's about it. Looks like a good fix to me and nice to see someone who knows how to use a rake and not just to lean on it.
I remember getting into this channel back in the early days when some videos only had a few thousand views. It was the shipping container building that drew me in and the other content was just a bonus. Now a lot of videos seem to be close to 1M views or in some cases well over, even simple culvert replacement videos. This channel is really taking off, and the likes to dislikes ratio is really good on most if not all of them as well. Congrats.
As always I think it looks great although I never saw Levi lay in the middle of the creek the way he usually does so you’ll need to do a follow up in about a year so Levi can do a proper inspection and all your fans get another great video. Thanks again Andrew & Levi 🦃🦃🦃
Andrew you said "people would say it's not deep enough". Maybe so but who are we to question your work. You know what your doing. I'm sure some of us here don't even know how to work a hand shovel. I was a laborer years ago I did everything from laying pipe to building walls and laying asphalt. etc I've never seen one man do it all till I started watching your videos. I had an uncle with your skills. Unfortunately he never got his company off the ground.
"Maybe so but who are we to question your work." Might blow your mind to know that a lot of people with decades of experience in this watch this channel. Very shocking. Andrew didn't appear from the gods. He learned from others as well as experience. Its wise to listen to others and test. So stop trying to stop that process if you dont know either way. having said that, the people that have not done this should pipe down, pardon the pun.

dyke the water off than dig the pipe to grade and actually check the grade so the pipe is not bowed. deeper would be good also but may not be possible to get drainage. 2 12 inch pipe would work better for getting more cover.
Where I am in Texas there isn't rock isn't as easy to come by. I can't be certain, but feel like the price of rock is likely a lot higher here. I have a half mile long dirt road that I had purchased a tractor to maintain. Wish I could get a lot of rock laid on it, but alas, half a mile of rock is expensive. Boxblade and grader worked great for what I was doing. Sadly had to sell the tractor. Next one I get will have a front loader on it. So many things I did with that 3pt that would have been tons easier with a front loader! Enjoy your video as usual. Great work.
I just found Andrew's channel a week ago and I am totally hooked as I go back to view some of his earlier videos. I really enjoyed this one. He isn't scared to try anything! I like that! You know, Andrew may do some things different than you would do them. And that is fine. Why do some people always have to critique everything? Why can't they just sit back and enjoy the videos? If they don't like what they see...then move on! Why publicly criticize anyone? I don't understand what 'throwing darts' on YT at other people accomplishes except make someone who is weak feel strong? If you can't find anything nice to say...don't say anything at all. Andrew...keep on, buddy! We love your enthusiasm and diligence!
Andrew you do great work. Not only you fix it but you also make it look nice, not to many people will do that. Also I wonder who picks out the music for the videos it's much better than watching a sped up video with no sound. Did you ever take lessons in podcasting ? You do great work.
Nice work Andrew!😉. Why people say you need more over the pipe is because ADS pipe what you're using suggests min. 12" over coverage. But most applications it isn't as rocky as the ground you seem to be working with. Here where I'm from in the NW we have some soft soils and can blow out the pipe easily if not covered good. Keep up the good work and love the videos!
also need to remember this is just a regular drive way. so probably not heavy traffic or heavy vehicles crossing on a regular basis... hahaha.. probably should watch the entire video before commenting :P
mark suson Uh huh. You obviously know nothing about heavy construction. 1. ADS pipe gets its strength from being property bedded and backfilled with the proper material. 2.The pipe was partially punctured with the excavator tooth. 3. The pipe was laid directly on a rocky ledge bottom. And no heavy vehicles? Septic truck, oil truck, fire truck.
@@newmilfordseptic3375 I agree with you a 50 year rain will blow that pipe out. 12 to 18 inches of cover for plastic, I would use cast iron or concrete for that job.
JMichael Patrick I wonder how many have joined us here after Scott Wadsworth (Essential Craftsman) paid such a nice tribute to Andrew with his Burke Bar build.
When you do two pipes side by side, be sure and set them apart at least 1 to 1.5 pipe diameters, back fill and compact in layers to fill any voids between them so the vehicle load force on the crown of the pipe is transferred vertically into the ground rather than laterally into both the tube bearing the weight and the adjacent empty tube that may likely fold...…….cheers Andy! You and Levi rock....
Always Great to see Levi working with Andrew. That gal wasted money not hiring you first and then you had to talk her into rock? One would of thought she had learned her lesson.
Hi Andrew you are unique mate I watch your videos almost every night now as I was a plant operator in the UK and drove a JCB 3 digger loader which you fellas refer to as a " backhoe" it was similar to your wheeled John Deere machine.I too have a mig and a stick welder and a plasma cutter and love to make and repair things but I am not great at mechanical repairs 😥. Andrew a thick plastic culvert pipe like you replaced will take an enormous amount of weight as long as it is back filled and compacted properly as the pressure at the top is distributed from the top down the sides and out at the bottom so won't collapse down if a heavy truck goes over it . Keep up the great videos mate I will be as sick as a parrot if they run out so stay busy pal and take care of Levi and Sophie they are boss mate! David Flynn Liverpool UK.

Andrew wrong time of the year to be doing a job like this you did an amazing job don't get me wrong but like every thing the customer only asks for it to be done when it's the wrong time of the year. You always explain your jobs really well . Thanks for sharing buddy
Brutally effective style efficient use of time and resources....Andrew you deserve deep respect...Incredible work.
Happy thanksgiving Andrew I just wanted to say thank you for all the work you put into these videos I know there is alot of work involved in filming and then there is the physical labor you do on the jobs so just in case you don't feel appreciated for all of it I for one really appreciate it thank you have a blessed holiday Andrew
Really thankful that you go back and update us with how everything turns out on these jobs. Keep up the great work!
Congrats.
I like the way you held the pipe down as you back filled.
Cool to see the pipe i make being used! I work in the yard in a ADS plant in Washougal Wa, i love watching the end use of what im a part of!
Very cool, that pipe works well.
As always I think it looks great although I never saw Levi lay in the middle of the creek the way he usually does so you’ll need to do a follow up in about a year so Levi can do a proper inspection and all your fans get another great video. Thanks again Andrew & Levi 🦃🦃🦃
Thanks. This was Lacy in this video, and Sadie is the one who walks into 6" of water, than lays down.
@@AndrewCamarata Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. God Bless from Phoenix.
Andrew Camarata oops don’t tell Levi I messed up lol
Yeah, well they are all the same color.
Ha! I was thinking the same thing. Confusion cleared up.
I'm glad you got a video uploaded. I've been missing them. Thanks.👍🏻👍🏻
I'm surprised this video doesn't have more views. It's one of my favorites. The great ones always make it look easy
I was beginning to worry about you Andrew! Congratulations on 100k subs, you deserve it man. Keep up the hard work as always!
i just did a drainage job and it went well, i got inspired by you andrew first ever excavation job!
When Andrew Quotes a job he should tell his customer to check out his RUclips channel for references. Nuff said. 339 videos and I'm still jonesin.
Looks good that pipe is heavy duty and will see how it holds up the over time.
Glad to see a video from you. That was a sure fix...Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I wonder what the cost on the gravel was.
@@lostintime8651 Stone runs around $25 a ton plus delivery here in NY.

7 minutes into the video and I all ready learned a few things! You never cease to amaze me. Thanks Andrew
guess you got snow last Thursday too............good job, knew the old one was crushed galv. :)
Yeah, it was enough where I plowed everyone.
@@AndrewCamarata , i live at Exit 98 off G.S.P. at the shore and coming from Saddle River to my house took 11 hours :) Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. btw, don't let the trolls get to you. Your an honest guy....
Getting ready to do mine, thanks for the refresher.that machine with a thumb is perfect residential size!
Andrew, you're an artist. awesome channel, great content. good work, sir.
Congrats on 104k. Your hand rake work is to be commended!! Looks good-lasts a long time! Depth -yep- bedrock will stop you every time!! How did you know when to stop digging, when I hit the Mother of all rocks!! We DONE!
Those pipes are actually pretty strong my dad drove over one on accident with a 9 ton dump truck
The Right Tool for the Right Job!!! You take pride in your work. Thanks Andrew for another great Video.
That stone spread with the truck backwards was awesome !! Your my hero dude!!!
You're a rarity, the kind of contractor thats great to work with, always looking out for the customer, offering solutions and improvements and getting the job done. Great work and great video too, Andrew, ty.
Looks great! I agree on the metal pipes they always rust out. Those plastic pipes are the way to go. Nice work!
Are you following around?
barry hansen LoL I was going to ask you that! How’s the yard holding up?
@@eliteearthworksllc still a bit soggy, but drying out but we still have this weather pattern to attack on Sunday, which is your Saturday will let you know how thing go.
barry hansen yes keep in touch, hopefully the rain will go around you guys.
Love to come back and watch your videos when I'm needing that extra kick to go get at it. You deserve all the success that comes your way brother. You've earned it.
Been waiting for a new video great job plus all the new people who subscribed keep them coming
I saw you hit bedrock and yes a little more rock will do. This was perfect for me who is new to the industry and am quizzing myself watching videos. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

"everyone on youtube is gonna say it's not deep enough"
-_-
Lets wait for a bigger Vehicle :D
Jude Chauhan that’s what she said
Specs for that team come for a minimum of 12 inches of cover not even close I’m sorry that it’s a very poor installation
dyke the water off than dig the pipe to grade and actually check the grade so the pipe is not bowed. deeper would be good also but may not be possible to get drainage.

Great work.
Awesome ,welcome back , missed your vids bro
Congrats Andrew reaching over 100K subs!
Isn't it amazing that no matter how much gravel you bring in 1 trip it never seems to be enough. I don't know about you but I have felt that way
Nice couple loads of 2-3" rock...then a top-off of 1" crushed limestone... Perfecto !!
Nice to see how you solve problems. Good job Andrew.
Congratulations on a 100,000 subs happy Thanksgiving Andrew
A master at spreading gravel. you make it look so easy, and I suspect it's not so easy
Thanks for a great video
Andrew you do great work. Not only you fix it but you also make it look nice, not to many people will do that. Also I wonder who picks out the music for the videos it's much better than watching a sped up video with no sound. Did you ever take lessons in podcasting ? You do great work.
@Amped Amped He does make some good tunes choices, though.
That's really cool that you take so much pride in your work. Came out really clean and I like how you put the rocks back. Awesome job
New Milford Septic finally somebody talks dam common since
It may be an old video but I'm sure I will enjoy every minute of it this young man is quite good at his crafts

@@ramosel I must have missed that! Will have to go back to that post.
Good job. Happy Thanksgiving Andrew, and everyone else too!!
Be interesting to see some of these water mitigation jobs a year later. Nice work Andrew!
