Hello, your video was nice, but just a little thing after having tested in straight stitch, it was also necessary to check the zig-zag stitch but for the rest it's perfect if it can save the price of a revision at a repairman or technician
@@MarcelJoel After having checked the straight stitch that it works as you did with the sock, you must always check at the zig zag stitch, if the thread gets tangled or does not cling there is a disturbance, the adjustment is done at the needle bar, not at the hook. From that you make an adjustment you must check everything to also look if the feed teeth go up or down well at the same time as the needle goes up and down and does not touch the plate or the bobbin case. Although Brother make entry-level machines with affordable prices, disassembly, cleaning and access to make adjustments are easier, and users do not need to go to a technician and pay
Use a Philips screwdriver. While the machine is actually facing you , right on the back of the machine in order words on the other side of the top needle assembly, there is a single Philips screw there; If you screw it in or unscrew that actual screw , that would move the top needle assembly towards you or away from you. That’s exactly how you position that top needle assembly exactly where it needs to be, so it won’t hit those metal teeth.
If you look at my video when I turn the machine around , there are screws on the side of the machine that I touch and there is one single screw that I didn’t touch , and that screw is close to the top needle assembly , that screw is the one that will move the assembly back and forth for you.
I opened my machine yesterday and it is not sewing. I notice the timing is off. Is it normal to have to do this maintenance even though I just opened it? Sorry I’m really new to this!
Is it a new machine you can return it and get another one or you can go through the process of calibrating it. I am about to post a video soon on how to open the machine step by step and close it back up .
i spent about an hour loosening the two screws and the timing is still off. is there another reason for this or should i continue trying to loosen them?
It has to be exactly 2mm metric . I think I mentioned that in the video double check please. Also after aligning everything make sure to tight right back up your Allen screw before even closing up the machine..don’t leave them loose . I mentioned that at the end of the video as well. Good luck !
You have to use the right size Allen key. Make sure that Allen fits well and insert it and turn counterclockwise...I gave the size of the Allen Key in the Video .
How did you guys remove the cover? I've unscrewed everything and there's so much resistance to snapping off. It's half off but now I can't even snap it all back into place again. Plus couldn't even remove the pattern dial. Do you just pull?
@@craftysofi2443 So I actually found one very hidden screw that wasn't mentioned in the videos I watched, and could then snap it off. For the dial I had to grip it with a non stick cloth and it popped off. Not sure about the 3817A but could be you have to unscrew another thing. Just don't touch the one behind the needle part, it will move it out of place.
Do u know how to reset a timing belt? For a brother quilting machine? I had a stuck case and removed the belt to fix the freeze but dodnt know to mark the belts to keep the timing... And now it is off on the stitches
Thank you so much for this guide. I have been struggling with my machine. Meanwhile, am having another issue. I can't seem to figure out where two small nuts came from. I totally forgot where I removed them from. Please kindly assist me.
i know a million people already said so but THANK YOU SO MUCH i cant even begin to tell you what a live saver this was for me. and for those of you out there struggling with getting the case off: you have to pull. hard. theres two latches in the center that are a really the worst of it but you wont brake your machine. i did break one of the snaps but imo it will be easier to get off in the future need be. i also got cut up a little removing the case so be careful!!
Kylie Blake Please unsnapped it away from the housing If you can and check what might be in the way and blocking it..and try to put it back again..don’t force it, it is meant to fit and click back in place.
After following step by step my needle now hits the face plate even after retightening the screws what did I do wrong my foot feed will not drop down to where it is supposed to go I think I trashed my machine
Liyah Michelle Yes you have to tighten back up the bolts right after the alignment of the top needle and the Silver piece on the bottom. I mentioned it at the end of the Video .
Hitting the nail , you mean the silver piece inside the bobbin case? Open the machine again and align the silver piece and the needle again and try to raise that top needle up a little bit. Tight up your Allen screws back up and test it.
Hi it's me again I put back together but it looks like I did something wrong I'm having a picture see if there's any way you can help me thank you so I don't know I put it take a picture it looks like the needle is on the other side so it's hitting the bobbin if you can please help me or share what to do thank you
Open it again, when you align the silver piece at the bottom with the top needle, I want you to manually operate the top needle to see from yourself if it picks the thread 🧵up without hitting the bobbing case. Keep adjusting the bobin case and the top needle until it does pick the thread 🧵 up like it supposed to.
Hey, go back into the machine , position the silver bottom piece aligned with the top needle and manually bring up that top needle a little bit and try it.
There is a screw on the side of the machine that allows the top needles to move toward you or away from you . Use a Philips screw driver in order to move that needle the way you want it
I’ve tried doing this 4 times and it’s still doesn’t work when I attempt to sew the needle just goes in and out no thread at all it’s worse than before I tried this at all.. could there be another issue I’m missing
Good day sir, I have done it already but the needle came in contact with that tny little metal rivet. My question sir, is that needle at timing position going down or up?
arthur forteza What I would say is set it up in a such way that the needle doesn’t touch the metal rivet..you can spin the needle and the bobbing case manually and see what it is happening , and then you make adjustments.

I have the same machine and the needle is hit on the metal teeth, what can I do to fix it
Use a Philips screwdriver.
Thank that seemed to work now hopefully I can get it to see

Thank you!!!! I just fixed my machine
Thank you so much you saved my machine it worked!
Karri Smith thank you please subscribe.
i spent about an hour loosening the two screws and the timing is still off. is there another reason for this or should i continue trying to loosen them?
Please watch the whole video
You make it seem so easy... I’ve been trying and trying and nothing my thread doesn’t wanna grab :(
I am gonna have to do another video :-(
GENTILGARCON It would really help a lot!
What size Allen wrench did you use?
It has to be exactly 2mm metric . I think I mentioned that in the video double check please. Also after aligning everything make sure to tight right back up your Allen screw before even closing up the machine..don’t leave them loose . I mentioned that at the end of the video as well.
Good luck !
@@MarcelJoel yes going back I heard it that time! I really appreciate your help, & yes. You reminded to tighten back.
Thanks for sharing
Excellent video thanks
What if I don't have an Allen key?
You have to find one, please go to the dollar store to buy one.
@@MarcelJoel Ok thank you. I am having troubles pulling apart the machine in the first place. I have removed all the screws but it's still not moving.
@@blessedandhighlyfavoured108 you Got the right Allen key ?
I don't have access to the right allen key.
OMG HELP!!! How do I loosen the screw with the Allen wrench IT IS NOT WORKING I can’t get it lose pease help!
You have to use the right size Allen key. Make sure that Allen fits well and insert it and turn counterclockwise...I gave the size of the Allen Key in the Video .
On my brother lx3817 the belt want move at all
Did you put the belt back in place? Watch the video again please.
@@MarcelJoel I didn't take the belt off one will move the smaller one want
I see, this video will help me a lot on my bro machine hook timing. Thanks a lot for sharing sir!
arthur forteza You are welcome please share and subscribe in order to help me out on my journey.
@@MarcelJoel Done sir😊
My timing doesn’t spin when I turn the white knob on the side .. do you know why ???
What did you do exactly?
I took everything apart and reassembled. My bobbin just won’t catch.
I did this 3xs and it worked for a little and then it went back to the problem. Am I missing something?
Did you fix the issue ?
Can u pls tell me how to solve the zig zag problems?
Hello did you solve the issue ?
How did you guys remove the cover? I've unscrewed everything and there's so much resistance to snapping off. It's half off but now I can't even snap it all back into place again. Plus couldn't even remove the pattern dial. Do you just pull?
Im having this exact same issue. I have a 3817A tho.
@@anuna116 which screw wasn't included in the video? I can't snap mine off.
@@anuna116 where is the last screw?
@@ceehart4538 theres no extra screw just two extremely annoying snaps in the middle
Do u know how to reset a timing belt? For a brother quilting machine? I had a stuck case and removed the belt to fix the freeze but dodnt know to mark the belts to keep the timing... And now it is off on the stitches
Did you try it ?
Thank you so much for this guide. I have been struggling with my machine. Meanwhile, am having another issue. I can't seem to figure out where two small nuts came from. I totally forgot where I removed them from. Please kindly assist me.
Are you talking about the black nuts where you insert the Allen key ?
Thank you so much, this really helped
You are welcome.
i know a million people already said so but THANK YOU SO MUCH i cant even begin to tell you what a live saver this was for me. and for those of you out there struggling with getting the case off: you have to pull. hard. theres two latches in the center that are a really the worst of it but you wont brake your machine. i did break one of the snaps but imo it will be easier to get off in the future need be. i also got cut up a little removing the case so be careful!!
Thank you so much for you comment. What other videos would you like me to make if you have any ideas ?
i took my brother st531hd into the shop for a timing adjustment and they told e they couldn't fix it. wth?
Try another shop
I can’t get my casing back on near the front - everything else clicks except for some long piece where the screw connects in the front.
Kylie Blake Please unsnapped it away from the housing If you can and check what might be in the way and blocking it..and try to put it back again..don’t force it, it is meant to fit and click back in place.
After following step by step my needle now hits the face plate even after retightening the screws what did I do wrong my foot feed will not drop down to where it is supposed to go
I think I trashed my machine
You didn’t trash it ..hold on !

Hey do you retighten the bolts or leave them
Liyah Michelle Yes you have to tighten back up the bolts right after the alignment of the top needle and the Silver piece on the bottom. I mentioned it at the end of the Video .
GENTILGARCON thank you
Liyah Michelle did it work for you?
GENTILGARCON yes and no now the needle keeps hitting the nail
Hitting the nail , you mean the silver piece inside the bobbin case?
Open the machine again and align the silver piece and the needle again and try to raise that top needle up a little bit. Tight up your Allen screws back up and test it.
Thank you!!!!!!
Oh hell no!🤣This is way too advance for me😅. Great job by the way I wish I had your skills!!
Ahaha 🤣 someone can fix it for you.
Lifesaver.. Thank you ..

How you removing the cover so easily?
You have to remove all the screws I indicated. You have to remove the pattern selector wheel on the side too.
Yeah I removed all the screws and wheel too
@@ShafnaCareem ok use a plastic pry tool or anything thin that you have and try to separate slowly and gently where the the covers meet.
@@ShafnaCareem no forcing or breaking stuff please

Hi it's me again I put back together but it looks like I did something wrong I'm having a picture see if there's any way you can help me thank you so I don't know I put it take a picture it looks like the needle is on the other side so it's hitting the bobbin if you can please help me or share what to do thank you
Open it again, when you align the silver piece at the bottom with the top needle, I want you to manually operate the top needle to see from yourself if it picks the thread 🧵up without hitting the bobbing case. Keep adjusting the bobin case and the top needle until it does pick the thread 🧵 up like it supposed to.
Thank you SO MUCH!
Subscribe and share please 💚💚
Followed your instructions. Got it aligned. But now the needle hits bottom of tray n it gets stuck 😡🙈.
Any ideas on what to do next?
Hey, go back into the machine , position the silver bottom piece aligned with the top needle and manually bring up that top needle a little bit and try it.
Make sure to watch the Video all the way until the end. Because you have to tight your Allen screws back up.. don’t over tight them neither please.
@@MarcelJoel i did. A few times 🙈.
Got that part... but now its all shifted to the right n i cant get it back aligned 🙈
Did you watch the entire video until the end? Did you tighten back up these Allen screws after calibration ?
I need help how can i fix it when the pin was stock and not coming up again? Hope you can help me
My head is exploding it’s 3 am and I just took apart my entire machine WHAT HAVE I DONE AND HOW DO I FIX IT
I am about to film a second video explaining again how to fix this issue. Why did you take the machine apart again ?
So you want a video showing how to put the machine back together right ?
Thanks going to try
you are welcome
My hook timing is still and it's loose.
Did you tight back up those Allen screws after calibration? Watch the end of the video I talk about it.
@@MarcelJoel you know what, I did exactly what you are saying and it really work, my compliment to your vlog now my wife is using it as I speak, many thanks to U sir!!! 😎
