This is the most important season for the farmers, because it's the harvest time for them.
The hardy qingke barley, also known as highland barley, has long been the main crop on the plateau, and has become a staple of the Tibetan diet, used in almost every meal as tsampa, and even used to make barley wine and a number of other dishes.
A unique, drought-resistant crop, barley is grown in many places across the plateau, and is the only grain crop that can grow comfortably in the higher reaches of the plateau, including the extreme north.
Today in this video, I will take you to enjoy the barley harvest with a Tibetan farmer family.

Unfortunately our mother land TIBET is occupied by red Chinese in 1959. In Tibet Tibetans are minority and still more Chinese are transported from China. Our culture is dying day by day.

Yes it's true, the Chinese government despite negative response from western media have done well to eradicate poverty and famine and raise the literacy standards of all China territory.

Thank you so much for uploading this Barley harvest video. It has recalled my yesteryears. I am from the Eastern part of Nepal near Mt. Makalu. In those days, we also use the same stone mills to grind Millet, Barley, and Wheat. We also make Barley wine and many types of foods out of flour. The hosting family is so happy and kind. May Lord Buddha bless them.
No-one will believe me, but the other day l walked the beach path as usual in Brighton, where l am living in the twilight, and an man was there too with his hug mastiff, he told me he got this majestic dog lady from Tibet. I could cuddle her. It was an exciting experience. The man watches Tibet Travel too, and plans to visit Tibet again.
Now to this video. Again and again l can only say, how beautiful, peaceful, gracious Tibetian villages are, how beautiful calming the music is, and how l wished to experience all this beauty by myself, smelling the air of Tibet.
I know, it is much harder to harvest the barley by hand, and bending down, but it looks so much gentler, and warm hearted, than by the tractor.

Tibet is God’s canvas. It is so beautiful and perfect. It almost look like a drawing. SN: Ethiopians make barley with butter (beso) exactly the way it is done in Tibet. It is fascinating to see two completely different countries making food the same exact way. Our musical instruments and songs in general are also very similar. The world is more connected than we think
