- Jim Root of Slipknot has his own signature pickup set, the EMG Daemonum set, and they're not your regular EMGs.
In this video, I review and demo this unique set of pickups from EMG and talk a little about how Jim Root ended up with this set. We'll go through the sound, installation and look of these pickups and who I think they're really for.

I just put these on my Hagstrom Fantomen a couple of days ago. I tuned down to Drop B and instantly had the Slipknot sound.

I have that Set in my: Schecter Omen Extreme 6, it's Close to a 81 and 60 but really Liking the Open Coil Style. Also have a Guitar with a Het Set and a Passive Marty Friedman Set! Having a Blast with all of those 🥳

Plus you don’t need a Overdrive anymore. I’m a simple guy I don’t really like having pedals and stuff. And the cleans sound so good. Btw as always amazing video.

Ah I see dude! Yeah it really can be. It’ll be a little while before I know what the Het Set sounds like but my gut feeling is that the Daemonums would sound amazing in the Tremonti. I’ll keep you posted though brother 👊

I've been wanting to turn my passive single coil strat into a crazy active nu/alt metal guitar and I think these pickups would be great since I dont really like how other EMGs sound because they are so sterile but Jims set sound full and aggressive!

I have a modern fishman in my strat. Sounds nuts. I imagine this would be equally as cool if not better. Do it !!!
Have ya tried the eminence dv77 speaker yet? Its killer. I got one paired up with a new v30 in a 2x12 and it's brutal. Those pickups would sound good through the dv77.
Mate, I have not! Currently, I’m running a full digital setup. My little office barely has enough space for me to stand in so I couldn’t fit any amps in here 😂 Maybe one day I’ll have a bit more room for a nice rig and I’ll definitely be checking out those speakers! @Jack Taylor Guitars thanks. Can't decide whether to put 57/66s in a baritone or the het set or the daemonums. I have the 57/66 in 2 Eclipses. One standard and one in d.
Ah interesting dude! I can’t speak for the Het Set just yet but I’ve got some ready to go in a build in a few weeks. The Daemonums might be a cool bit of variety in your set up?
@@Ryan-kc5pl if it's worth anything to you, I've always heard the het set was tuned for standard tunings and isn't as tight for lower tunings. Haven't used it to verify that though.
