The Legion, and later the Chapters it separated into, that have always been the most interesting and emotion inspiring to me has always been the Blood Angels. But while they also fight for humanity to save and protect it, the pain of the Angel's death has wounded them so deeply that they lose themselves in it at times, and innocents suffer for it. The only Legion who meets, and due to their lack of mind breaking wound surpass it by not turning on humanity, is the Salamanders. While it kinda saddens me to say it, they are the most human of all the Astartes. The IXth salutes you all, mighty armed and mighty hearted children of Vulcan.
We also need marines malevolent though dude, when they didn't push during that helsreach incident where they could've taken the big orki boi but tried to save a few humans vs saving TONS of humans.. need the spectrum

The Salamanders are my favorite legion/chapter, so often overlooked for their more boastful and extreme brother chapters. The salamanders are almost ordinary, generic. Any of their history that might make them stand out amongst the adeptus astartes has been hidden away or lost to time as the legion and chapter has been almost wiped out time and time again. Despite this they bear no chip on their shoulders, hold no insecurities, they are steadfast in their commitment to the citizens of the imperium. Where other chapters see normal humans as weak, lower than them, undeserving, the Salamanders know better than anyone else, blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the galaxy. Vulkan Lives!

I think we know full well the chapter Librarians make use of a specialised Vox caster known as Psycaster that is known to interfere with Chaos entities connection to the immaterium, often to the ire of the servents of Slanesshe. So strong a force that some in the Grey Knights look to Salamander Libra-Forgers to annoint their power armour with psy-forged runes to amplify their protection against the ruinous powers.

I feel like there's such a parallel between the Salamanders and the Raven Guard. Both care FAR more about civilians than most of their siblings, both have a skin pigmentation that borders the extremes that gets passed on with their geneseed, both prefer to modify or manufacture their own equipment, the deep ties to home with bizarre beasts they hunt and venerate, their opinion of guards and so much more. I know a lot of loyalists have some common traits but those two are almost cut from the same cloth
Basing my homebrew/headcannon chapter on Salamanders but cross training them with another chapter, Imperial Fists. Did originally had the idea of making them a Cursed Founding by making them a chimera chapter of a geneseed of Vulkan and Dorn. But they are guardians of the people but able to hold the line with Dorns tactics. Still thinking of a name and weapon theme... and making their mutation scaled skin so they more durable like their father with a added bit of slightly superior self healing.
I felt bad for Numeon throughout the whole DSM and when he threw himself into mount deathfire to bring Daddy V back I cried

The Salamanders always remind me of the motto, "So others may live".
I'm not an airman, but the airforce PJ motto "these things we do, that others may live" hits so deep. Salamanders are the pinnacle of this.
