Your unique inside out detailed reviews are exactly what I've always asked from our local equipment reviewers but they told me I'm crazy to demand that and refused to show me inner hardware used.
Reviewers tell me I'm crazy too... but that's because they are often at the 'beck and call' of their paymasters - or they sell the stuff themselves. I get that, but I'm absolutely not one of them and I make reviews for the 'ordinary guy' where I'm not trying to sell someone anything... just a simple review with an opinion - and hopefully (I'm sure really) others cannot be bothered to create.
Thank you very much, I really appreciate your review. I agree that the chips used in this pedal are of a good degree of quality, which is demonstrated by the sound it gives us. But I'm not like that ugly glue put by hand at the factory for the BGA chip (without legs). This glue is placed in the corners to give extra support for the chip to the board so that the pads and solders do not suffer and can be placed by machines and here it is placed by hand (cheaper things, which have surely put it at the end quality control if the board works correctly). It is not soldering flux, I can assure you, it would not retain the little bubbles that I see in the images. Great job as always Tony. Grateful.
I discovered your channel, currently your two RUclips channels, in my search for a good processor for my guitar. And well, looking for reviews here and there, even videos where those who review the processors are so devilishly good at playing guitar that they made me wonder if it's worth continuing to play my guitar or not, luckily I found your channel and your deep and extensive reviews. Ha 'don't give a monkey's' yes! great comment... the English slang with my dialect would not be understandable if I used it... its a sort of twisted English in to what can only be described as gibberish if you don't come from the area where I live... needless to say I don't use the real slang from where I live on video :) I'm really happy that you like the videos. I have watched 'players' demonstrating equipment' or should I say demonstrating their playing ability really - rather than focusing on the equipment itself. It's one reason I started to create review videos in the way I have, including showing inside, talking about the warranty, the manual and playing but not overly focused on just the playing. After all, when someone buys some gear that I have reviewed, its not my playing they buy... or for that matter, the playing of those gunslingers that play as often they do. I have been playing since about 1971 and have seen incredible musicians (and I know some brilliant guitarists too), but we're all different, and while they do what they do, my view is that they don't do what I do and I don't really want to do what they do either. I really appreciate your post and thanks for those very kind words.
This channel is great. The reviews are spot on and fair. I watched your MX5 review after returning one and the cons were spot on what I had sent it back for. Other "reviews" don't mention this stuff.
Glad you like them! and great to hear feedback that is an opinion - scarily the same ... and you're right you won't hear on those 'sales' channels what you hear on my channel. Thanks for watching.
I am so glad I found your channel. I always wondered if Hotone peddled crap like "cough" Joyo or Mooer or if they had a good built quality. I am glad to see they don't skimp but that MIMXRT chip does bother me a little, that is a sloppy soldering job. I have had the Ampero One for some time now, love it and I have been juggling the idea to upgrade to the stomp. And btw, their support is stellar! The editor was crashing, I sent an e-mail and two weeks later they had an updated editor up, I found a bug and they reacted very quickly and even sent me an alpha version two days after my e-mail to test!
I did review an Ampero one also and that was pretty cool. That support sounds really good and its always great to hear that a maker really did do a good job. All too often I hear varying things from different makers re warranty and support. Sounds like they got it all covered. Well done Hotone and thanks for the post and for watching.
Man! You don't muck about :) I have the Ampero and agree the sounds are much improved. I would get this one too if my GT-1000 wasn't doing it for me. Thanks for the very exhaustive review and hard work and Best Regards!
Hi Tony, you cannot imagine how much helpful are your tech reviews, some minutes ago I discovered your channel and I´ve just enjoyed several tech aspect of some devices that (by Guarantee limitations) I alwasy wanted to know by "direct Look inside". Congratulations by your top notch reviews and keep your awesome work !! (And a new follower here)
Well it's great to hear guys that 'get it' and value the 'other' aspects of my reviews which I always try and include. They are longer reviews of course, but there's always more in them than the other reviews out there - and thanks... appreciated.
I subscribed , liked and watch the video after purchased the device (yesterday) .. I know late to the party but I preferred many more things than its competitors ! So far ... so good ! Amazing video and analysis !!!
Worship your professional in depth review and utmost level of geekness! (in a definitely good way). I fell in love with this channel instantly while reading detailed description section(even before watching whole vid!!). Btw, I kindly suggest that when you make over a hour vid, it would be better to divided into some series of parts (e.g 20 mins for each vid) to attract more attentions (just my opinion, tho). Because this channel deserve much more view and youtube watchers(especially younger gens) may not go through this kind of long videos. Thx!!
Yes I know that some videos are long... and I have tried 'splitting' them before many times. The problem is that while part one would get really watched a lot, often part two and three (as an example) don't get the same response, so some videos are reduced by substantially less viewing. I think it relates to joining the (part two) video say some way through without all the info that part one had. I do know a shorter video is useful of course, but its so darned hard to put in all the pertinent info that I do and the results are less views on the later parts :( I do strive to try and increase the subscribers also as you suggest. But what happens (from actual data) is that over 80% of viewers do not subscribe, and believe this or not - only about 5% of the subscribers turn on notification and 'All' so they get notifications about new videos. It is a problem that most YT channels suffer from - I'm far from being alone. But thanks for the point (I was aware of it) and for taking the time to watch the video - its greatly appreciated...
@@tonymckenzieofficial Well, I can tell you I will not be opening it up like you did - so if I have that Flux-chip thing going on inside, I will not know it....unless it fails. I'll let you know my opinion once I spend a little time with it. Thanks again for your insights.

Can I use the main signal of my amp (clean/crunch) without being distorted from the multieffect pedal and use this only for its effects (delay, reverb etc)? Also your videos are awesome. The thing that you buy the equipment and Its not sponsored make your channel pure treasure! Cheers from Greece!
Honestly I never did check that, but you should be able to turn off the amp and cab and going in to an amp that really is necessary generally. I don't have the unit now, and that's no reflection on the gear, but it costs me dearly and I have to sell some of it to buy new gear. Thanks for watching and those kind words.
Great video again Tony........ Im going to stick too my Headrush Gigboard...... It might be older but for me having a 7" screen right in front of you trumps having a ton of amps and effects..... I dont know how well built it is but its 2 years old and still working fine.
Thank you Sir Ton(e)y "The Owl" McKenziecom. Can you tell me how does it compare to its bigger brother Ampero 2 Stage or the alternative in this range, the Line 6 POD Go. I am getting both of these units at 25% their MRP, the Stomp and the POD Go, from the used market, almost new under a year old. Which one has the edge over the other. The POD Go as a standalone unit gets my vote, but I really like the form factor of the Stomp as it will go well on the pedalboard along with my DIY'd handmade analog pedal clones collection; also the ability to use parallel chains with two entirely separate amps etc is interesting and will be really useful. Have I answered my own question? Still I would like to have some expert advice and opinions based on your in-depth knowledge and experience.
Ha indeed you have! But I have reviewed the POD and this one here... so watch both reviews and YOU have to make up your own mind - trust me, what's good for one guy might not be for the next. And thanks for watching.
Hotone say: It is BGA underfills, not Flux. Because of the pursuit of quality and reliability, we add BGA underfills manually. Therefore, it is not as accurate and beautiful as machine technology. Even now, there are fewer and fewer manufacturers using this process, and the cost is higher and higher.
Thanks for the info. I have to say I have not seen that before in a way I saw on this unit, but thanks for clarifying the position. And of course thanks for watching I hope you generally enjoyed the inside and out review.
I appreciate the thorough look inside. I'm hearing reports of issues with MIDI (unless using the Ampero Control). I'd love to see somebody test if MIDI program change messages are being received by the Ampero II, retransmitted out the out/thru jack, and lastly if the Ampero II transmits MIDI program changes when changing presets on the Ampero II without any other MIDI controller connected. 🦉
I am not aware of any midi issues but there again I did not spend much time on the midi. But also be aware that they could easily fix that with firmware updates if there is a problem. If I get a chance I'll look but don't hold your breath :) Thanks Jamie for watching...
A review at this level is MUCH appreciated. I've been playing guitar since I was 12 and have only now started getting into the guts of effects processing. Prior to that, it was simply a black box that did its function; some were incrementally better than others and that was that. After weighing my options since November '21 (currently March '22), I'm replacing my aging Korg AX1G (purchased in 1998) with an Ampero II. One of the reasons why I ended up choosing this over the original Ampero is BECAUSE there's no expression pedal. The pedal on my old Korg was borderline useless and aside from the POD GO, there wasn't a modeler at this price range with an acceptable expression pedal. I can't want to pair up the Ampero with a Mission Engineering EP25K. It's easily the best EP I've ever used.
Ha I go back to 'black boxes' too :) When Color Sound seemed to make good gear! (Some will say they still do and the old stuff is 'incredible' but I think that's a dream :) The Ampero II you will find very good I think. The expression pedals are (or can be depending on the user) quite essential - I use them all the time whether integral or external but I get the point of course. In any case Alex, thanks for watching the video, it took me time to create and its on here are a video that I feel does represent the unit genuinely...
Great reviews as alwaysTony Is it just me that wonders why on earth if a manufacturer doesn’t want potential customers to think their product sounds like s**** , that they prefix their Preset with “ Poo” ?
I’m wrapped about this channel. Just found You Sir. I’m subbed. Really appreciate your in-depth look at these products. I’ve been looking at them all. I’m looking buying a stomp. Have an awesome day!
:) Well the truth is... (wait for it) That the Evil Owl is NOT actually evil! Let me explain... some while back I wanted to get a private number plate for my car... and so I went to the UK government site and started at the very first plate... and then I carried on looking plate after plate until I could 'read' the plate as a couple of words... you guessed it... it read EVII OWL !!!! Ha a great number plate especially on some of the high powered cars I have had. Indeed, I almost bought EVII COP too :) which would have been a real blast. So for anyone assuming there are dark undertones to the 'Evil Owl' studios - you are completely wrong - as most internet guys are at guessing that stuff... its all about number plates :) Glad you liked the video and thanks for watching.
@@tonymckenzieofficial That's a cool story, I used to own a few nice RX7's but JOSH was taken with different #'s and letters so I didn't do it, BTW, I have been watching your videos for more than 5 years but it doesn't show because I had to change my account. Big Hug, you are Awesome !!!🤗🤗🤗🎸🎸🎸💥💥💥
My background originally was mechanical engineering with an emphasis on fuel injection. I later moved to management and in 1981 I left the sector and started writing computer games in my living room :) from there, by 1983 I was firmly set in hardware technology, whether importation, some design and more. In around 1987 I was a share holder in a computer manufacturer from the far east. I got ripped off big time by a UK partner and so in January 1989 I formed a company and strived to close the company of the guy that ripped me off. He was gone in 2 years ;-) and I took every client. From that time to this day I remain involved in technology importation, distribution, design, custom product development, CE approvals, RoHS and other stuff in the UK with other technologies involved. We have sold huge amounts of gear since 1989 but to be honest I'm not personally a designer. But as you see I have persevered to find the info. I do know when I see something wrong or 'bad' inside most technology products and I always voice the problems when I see them. Most guys that are music gear customers have little or no clue that just down the road on some gear there will be problems... likely out of warranty (and in some cases much before, that imply safety issues) and I hate to see that. Why? Well when I was 17 I bought a Gibson SG from a mail order catalogue and the only way to get it was to pay £4 a week. Trust me, that was huge money to me (50% of my salary then). The Gibson was wonderful, but the cost to me was that I could not afford to go out etc. I ALWAYS think of guys that have had to spend what for them is big money on gear that in some instances turns out to be rubbish. No reviewers (I'll call them that) ever show this stuff and their only goal in life is really to emphasise sales or create them (often with receiving free 'gifts'). I think viewers deserve better. A great question you posed Macaroon and I wanted to answer it honestly and show that I actually DO have huge experience with many products from both the USA and the far east in most respects and I still do that every day. Thanks for watching.
@@tonymckenzieofficial wow what a comprehensive answer and thank you for taking the time to answer. Yes there are plenty of other reviewers who can give their opinion on sound and usability of gear, but your forensic quality assessment sets you apart from others. Have a great Christmas.
Unfortunately I don't have a video for the FM3. I have reviewed Fractal Audio gear historically and you can see some of it on my channel though. But not the FM3 sorry... but thanks for watching Alex...
this looks to me like a very interesting and in depth review, thank you: you have now one more subscriber, eh eh. I am a bit concerned about that flux issue around the main chip (the CPU?) (I am not sure I have understood everything... English is not my mother tongue)... could it be something related to planned obsolescence?
I was wondering about one feature that HX Stomp has and I don't know if Ampero have it. It's the possibility to have two differrent mics on two cabs (each for one channel). That might be a deal breaker for me
Wow, I watched all the way to the end and that track you played at 1:07:37 really blew me away. Was the rhythm power chords also played with the Ampero II? really crisp and pro mix!
Thanks for watching the review - it is long but should be interesting. Rhythm was just a backing track on this one... and probably not played on the Ampero II... but my playing was Ampero II all the time.
I get notifications, but I had to turn the bell off, on all my stuff. It was going off every 5 seconds. So now I get a little blue dot. You know my feeling about shoddy workmanship, if you pay a good price, you should get professional work. It was a bit dusty on the inside as well. Anyway Merry Christmas to you & your family. (Gil my true identity).
Thanks for the feedback on the notifications stuff... its all hard to tell from this end. It was a bit dusty inside like you said... but the chip flux for me was not too good to see. It's a pretty good sounding unit of that there's no denying but it is a bit of a pity about the flux, it really did seem like the chip had been added later ... and that would not really surprise me right now. Yes and you too have a great Christmas and a happy new year Gil...
Long video and takes so long to make. That chip was surprising and I really did not think I would have found something like that in there. Oh well... have a great Christmas and new year Tommy
Hi Tony, can you recommend the ampero 2 as a fx for my Diezel in the fx loop? I use mostly Delay but a reverb or eq, noise gate,… would be fine as well. Or should I go for the Boss DD 500 🤔😊 thanks from Bavaria 😃🍺
**EDIT** After messing with the Ampero ii next to the Pod GO for a few days I'll probably stick with Ampero ii. Although I'd like to see improvements with the editor, I really appreciate the level meters, and the fact that the descriptions exist. The Pod seems to have a more established community already, but I need to learn to create and edit my own patches anyway. --Original comment: Seems like you have to go to EDIT mode to view what FX you are turning on and off in stomp mode. And that bit about the editor only showing a TINY bit of text for the effects descriptions.... I thought I could re-size the window on my vertical second monitor. However you can't even do this with the editor. Re-sizing keeps the proportions and just zooms in, so you can't get more in the window to view... that's basic stuff. The ampero does seem very nice for dialing in acoustic guitar presets (notch, piezo optimizer, IRs, etc) - But I think the Pod GO has a much better interface, both on the device and in the editor. The biggest downside is that the triple processor still isn't THAT much more powerful than the single sharc processor in the Pod GO. But there is a bit more flexibility with the Hotone.
What are the probabilities that you will get another device, to do the review and compare if the chips are manually soldered? excellent channel. thanks for your insights! Cheers from Colombia South America
It is unlikely I'll do that sorry. I buy all the gear personally and the costs can mount up to very high figures for gear - and I always lose on the stuff when I sell it. But great to hear you Colombia... and Ivan... and sincerely thanks for watching.
Hi mr Tony!!Thanks for the "in depth" review!!I would like to ask what you think in terms of ad/da specs (24bit44.1khz) .Why didn`t they went for at least 48khz as most people record in 48...Do you think it could be rectified with future firmware update??I really wanted to buy the unit but those specs hold me off..Thanks and Merry Christmas!!
Hi George, Honestly I don't know why they chose the exact specs - I don't speak to makers very often... there seems to be the ability to have other ad/da specs from what I saw (I could be wrong I'm not a sware engineer) but maybe they are saving that for later :) The chips in there are generally pretty high level and those ESS sabre are appearing in many devices - saw some just tonight in Sound on Sound magazine (the latest). Thanks for watching... yes and you have a good Christmas too...
Tony, looking at the main board at around 7:30 in the video, it looks like there may be pads for a programming header. The five gold pads on the right edge of the board, just to the right of the MIMX chip. Can you confirm this? Or do you have a contact at Hotone who can confirm? The reason I'm asking is because I have a friend who has one of these units and it stopped working. When you turn it on, it comes up to the firmware update screen, but the firmware update utilities provided by Hotone don't recognize the device. I've tried both the Windows and the Mac versions of the utility. So, I'm thinking if there is a programming header, perhaps there would be a way to reinstall the firmware through that instead of through the USB port. Any info or contact information you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
I don't know what the pads are for :( and I don't know anyone at Hotone... its one of those companies where I have never spoken with them sadly. I would contact Hotone, but I doubt they will issue the code to do that stuff... but you never know. There might be some other way of resetting it all that is undocumented... sorry I can't advise but if you do find the answer then post it on here as it likely would help other guys too. Thanks for watching.
Hi Tony very good review, I have a concern, I purchased a Joyo DC 9 volt Power Supply with 500 mA output, I connected it to the Hotone Ampero 2 and it works, but its features of the Hotone indicates 800 mA, this would damage the unit if I keep connecting it to the Power Supply????
If you use a power supply that can't supply the amperage then it will be under stress and might fail. Of course the gear is not getting the current it needs either... and who knows what that will bring depending on the item. Hope it helps.
hello Tony, another question, do you know how to configure the presets (rhythmic and lead) so that when you press the preset and change between them the sound is not so noticeable, rather it is a smooth change?
Halo sir since you already put hotone ampero II and headrush mx5 on your surgery table...which one you recomended for me based on inside hardware quality of both unit.ampero pcb board looks vry clean tho...some youtuber says ampero has the longest latency processing which is 10ms among 3 footswitch pedal..
Hi, well I would not want to 'recommend' something to you. Often the gear suits some and not others, often because of their style of music and/or playing. What might suit me may well be different for others... its all a bit subjective really. Thanks for watching.
@@tonymckenzieofficial I emailed Hotone about the flux you found and here’s the response they sent me: “It is BGA underfills, not Flux. Because of the pursuit of quality and reliability, we add BGA underfills manually. Therefore, it is not as accurate and beautiful as machine technology. Even now, there are fewer and fewer manufacturers using this process, and the cost is higher and higher. We will continue to improve our process.” Thoughts?
The shoddy installation of that chip with all the excess corrosive flux doesn't inspire any pride of ownership or how long before the fine tracks are eaten away. It might have been a one off bad sample, but i won't be risking buying one just to find out. I will keep waiting for a mk2 Ampero with hopefully no chip issues. Harley Benton have a new one due for release in a few days at half the price. The spec looks good, but we will have to see how it sounds. Thanks for your indepth review Tony Have a great Chrstmas.
I was surprised about that unit. I personally believe its all about chip shortages and those came later or something like that. The one I highlighted seemed to have 'frothed' around the chip... oh well... Thanks for watching.
@@tonymckenzieofficial I would not be happy with it, i repair pcb's for a living, and would never lower my standards that far. To remove all the flux would require removing and replacing the chip, to return it they would know you have been inside, and this might invalidate the guarantee. I often have to correct bodged work on new equipment, these days it's all about getting the gear out of the door, never mind the quality.
They choose the preset by default as I showed... but remember they also have external switch box to allow other stuff to be switched too and that's all programmable to what you might want... hope it helps and thanks for watching.
I do think that the GT-1000CORE has some advantages over many... up to 24 blocks for example. The GX-100 is also great value. I have no real association with Roiland or Boss by the way. Thanks.
I maybe asking too much from this unit, but does the Ampero Stomp 2 have the ability to assign effects to the FX loop of your amp with addition of assigning effects to the front of the amp? ( Four cable method is most likely a necessity).
It's (just an opinion) very similar to most of the simulators out there. I do think the 'feel' is very important and often it is lacking on sim devices. Nearest I have seen lately was the UA Dream 65 amp pedal and that did have a feel similar to an amp. Hope it helps and thanks for watching.
Disappointing internal build quality. Flux and pretty sloppy soldering on a production digital board in this day and age? Looks like a rework. Doesn't bode well for long term reliability and you have to wonder about after sales support. Anyway, thanks for the look inside. Very helpful.
POO-1? This is a good example that Asians need to check with someone who knows English so as not to use words that they don't understand the English meaning, LOL!
Chouette!! Chouette is the French word for owl, but also is the same as saying something is "cool". A great review - but I am not tempted by it - I have gone the route of programming complex synthesizers for many years, and find the simpler path of acoustic or electric guitars with fewer and more sensual effects to be my path. Keep up the great work, and have a wonder full year's end.
Hi aipsong and thanks for the 'Owl' info :) Honestly I did not know that. Well I tend to agree that a regular guitar and amp really IS the best tone solution there still is. This does work, but I did not like the chip soldering on this one. In any case... a Marshall amp is coming up soon :) - and thanks for watching...

This review is one of it's kind. Thank you for this.
Thanks for those very kind words... and for watching.
best review I've seen so far.
Well thank you for those kind words and of course for watching.
I subscribed , liked and watch the video after purchased the device (yesterday) .. I know late to the party but I preferred many more things than its competitors !
So far ... so good !
Amazing video and analysis !!!
Thanks for watching and that sub...
You have taken audio gear review to a new professional level 😅😅
Not sure about that... but at lest I try hard to show what others never do... Thanks for watching...
Have one of these coming today. This overview will be very helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! and do come back and tell me your opinion! Thanks for watching.
@@tonymckenzieofficial Well, I can tell you I will not be opening it up like you did - so if I have that Flux-chip thing going on inside, I will not know it....unless it fails. I'll let you know my opinion once I spend a little time with it. Thanks again for your insights.
This is a magistral review Tony. Thank you so much for this kind of reviews. Best Regards ;)
My pleasure! and glad you liked it... they take so long to get together... so thanks for watching.
Great job!! Looking forward to your next reviews!!
Thanks so much! No doubt I'll find something to show :).
Excellent review. Great playing Tony.
Glad you enjoyed it - these sort take so long to do... next one in depth like this will be the Marshall amp... it arrived not too long ago and is waiting for me to start recording :)
These are truly amazing...A-Tier tones for sure. 👍
Glad you like them! and I liked this one really. Not bad. Thanks for watching.

I think the plastic tops are for barefooted players comfort when using the pedal without shoes or sandals so it won't hurt.😊
good point...
I find this review wonderful!! Thank you!

good review Tony you are so right l have not seen any other reviews like you do it well done allan

My wife says I'm a monster :) Last time I was out was at Loch Ness :) Thanks for watching.
Great video again Tony........ Im going to stick too my Headrush Gigboard...... It might be older but for me having a 7" screen right in front of you trumps having a ton of amps and effects..... I dont know how well built it is but its 2 years old and still working fine.
Agreed the smaller screen can be hard work... thanks.
Great Stuff..
Thanks for the kind words and of course for watching.
Hotone say:
It is BGA underfills,not Flux.
(Some will say they still do and the old stuff is 'incredible' but I think that's a dream :)
The Ampero II you will find very good I think. The expression pedals are (or can be depending on the user) quite essential - I use them all the time whether integral or external but I get the point of course.
In any case Alex, thanks for watching the video, it took me time to create and its on here are a video that I feel does represent the unit genuinely...
great video!!! Just released ampero stomp v1.0.2 update with improved DSP. It turned out great!!
Thanks for the info - very useful and I'll take a look...
Great reviews as alwaysTony
Is it just me that wonders why on earth if a manufacturer doesn’t want potential customers to think their product sounds like s**** , that they prefix their Preset with “ Poo” ?
This was a particularly funny comment... and I immediately smiled :) Thanks for watching.
Grazie per i tuoi video! ❤🇮🇹

I’m wrapped about this channel. Just found You Sir. I’m subbed. Really appreciate your in-depth look at these products. I’ve been looking at them all. I’m looking buying a stomp. Have an awesome day!
Love how you handle guitar by the way. Had my attention!! Great playing!
Thanks for the comments and for watching... appreciated.
You are incredible Tony, I Always watched your videos but I don't understand why the evil owl because he doesn't look evil. Good vibes your way 🤗🤗🤗🎸🎸🎸
:) Well the truth is...

@@tonymckenzieofficial Thanks for the notice sir. Will surely wait for that review
@@tonymckenzieofficial Also the close comparison of this unit, the Line 6 Hx stomp
As usual, unbelievable level of detail in this review. Is your background electrical engineering or something similar?
Great video. This’s the best I’ve seen. Did you have a video for Fractal FM3?
Unfortunately I don't have a video for the FM3. I have reviewed Fractal Audio gear historically and you can see some of it on my channel though. But not the FM3 sorry... but thanks for watching Alex...
this looks to me like a very interesting and in depth review, thank you: you have now one more subscriber, eh eh.
I am a bit concerned about that flux issue around the main chip (the CPU?)
(I am not sure I have understood everything... English is not my mother tongue)... could it be something related to planned obsolescence?
Well it looked to me like it was not cleaned off from manufacture. But there you go, its why I open equipment to see inside. Thanks for watching.
I came here to look at the internal
Which only tony will provide
Yes I think those are important... thanks for watching.
Great video man.
Of course that will work OK... obviously set it up carefully... thanks.
I did also review the POD Go on my channel in a similar way... check it out. Thanks.
@@tonymckenzieofficial Thanks! All the best to you!
Nice new setup! Marshall 1959HWBM perhaps?
It could be... but the red colour might suggest not ;-) nice try though...
Thanks
Nice job !!☺
Thanks for watching too.
hello Tony, another question, do you know how to configure the presets (rhythmic and lead) so that when you press the preset and change between them the sound is not so noticeable, rather it is a smooth change?
Sorry I don't have the unit any longer... and I really can't remember but thanks for asking.
YOU'RE DEFINITELY OUR FATHER MCKENZIE !!! SENT TO US BY THE BEATLES' SPIRIT !!! )))
Yep... just lacking the 'dough' :)
MZero is the best of course 😉
:) Well its in there :) Maybe one of those top 3 :) Thanks for watching too...
Thanks for watching.
thank you sir
Most welcome
Great review! How does the headphone Jack sound?
It's not too bad... I don't use headphones with this unit in this way but I'm sure it will be OK... and thanks for watching.
@@tonymckenzieofficial I emailed Hotone about the flux you found and here’s the response they sent me:
“It is BGA underfills,not Flux.
Because of the pursuit of quality and reliability, we add BGA underfills manually.
Therefore, it is not as accurate and beautiful as machine technology.
Even now, there are fewer and fewer manufacturers using this process, and the cost is higher and higher.

Thoughts?
The shoddy installation of that chip with all the excess corrosive flux doesn't inspire
any pride of ownership or how long before the fine tracks are eaten away.
It might have been a one off bad sample, but i won't be risking buying one just to find
out.
I will keep waiting for a mk2 Ampero with hopefully no chip issues.
Harley Benton have a new one due for release in a few days at half the price.
The spec looks good, but we will have to see how it sounds.
Thanks for your indepth review Tony
Have a great Chrstmas.
To remove all the flux would require removing and replacing the chip, to return it
they would know you have been inside, and this might invalidate the guarantee.
I often have to correct bodged work on new equipment, these days it's all about getting the gear out of the door, never mind the quality.
I don't know what the switches do. For gigging do the switches double as a control switch? Maybe the old one is better for gigging.
They choose the preset by default as I showed... but remember they also have external switch box to allow other stuff to be switched too and that's all programmable to what you might want... hope it helps and thanks for watching.
Nice video, you recommend Buy this?
I would look at a few different devices and certainly consider my comments about screen tracking and software points... and thanks for watching.

Personal choice there for me would be the GX100
Proper.
Glad you liked it... thanks for watching.
Tony, what kind of similar device would you rate the highest?
I do think that the GT-1000CORE has some advantages over many... up to 24 blocks for example. The GX-100 is also great value. I have no real association with Roiland or Boss by the way. Thanks.
@@tonymckenzieofficial Thanks, Tony!
Why don't you like Anderton's?
No real reviews just sales... another day in the life... tell me I'm wrong if you want that's OK.
@@tonymckenzieofficial They're not even good at the sales part. Just a bunch of tedious blokes who love the sound of their own voices.
I maybe asking too much from this unit, but does the Ampero Stomp 2 have the ability to assign effects to the FX loop of your amp with addition of assigning effects to the front of the amp? ( Four cable method is most likely a necessity).
Not sure about that, its been a while since the review too - and I sold the unit. Sorry about that... hey anyone else have the answer...

Nothing worth mentioning.... thanks.
@@tonymckenzieofficial Cool, would you recommend this unit? I'm thinking of selling off my pedalboard!
Nice gutshot
Thanks... and thanks for watching.
How's it feel under the fingers?
It's (just an opinion) very similar to most of the simulators out there. I do think the 'feel' is very important and often it is lacking on sim devices. Nearest I have seen lately was the UA Dream 65 amp pedal and that did have a feel similar to an amp. Hope it helps and thanks for watching.
Migliore questo o hx stomp line 6 come suono?
Forse lo Stomp... ma guarda anche gli altri là fuori perché ce ne sono molti in una sorta di fascia di prezzo simile ... e grazie per aver guardato...
Hi, can i connect two guitars into the ampero without using a DAW or PC?
Yes
What's the beef with Andertons?
No beef? Great if you like them... but I always found their prices somewhat higher generally than other suppliers.
Disappointing internal build quality. Flux and pretty sloppy soldering on a production digital board in this day and age? Looks like a rework. Doesn't bode well for long term reliability and you have to wonder about after sales support. Anyway, thanks for the look inside. Very helpful.
Yes and thanks for watching.
@@tonymckenzieofficial So next up the Mooer Ge300lite and other HX Stomp wannabes?
Is 44.1 khz worth??
44.1 is/was CD quality and certainly not to be sniffed at...
