    I have watched a couple of your videos and liked them. I like the Honda Shadow 750. When I was in HS a 750 was a big and powerful Bike. Now they’re considered a beginner bike by many. I’m coming back to riding at 60 and I think this more than fits the bill. I would ride and own one in a heartbeat.

      Thank you for checking out the videos friend! I think it has to do with "bigger is better" mentality and too many folks worry about what other people think. Between my Shadow 750 and Kawasaki Mean Streak 1600 I find I spend more time on the Shadow.

      Thanks! If you intend on moving to a bigger bike at some point I think the 750 is a great option. If you plan on keeping it a while and intend on doing a fair bit on the highway you might find the 1100 might work a bit better. The 750 will do 70 mph all day long but it is turning about 4000-4200 rpm so it may vibrate a little bit.

    I picked up a 2012 Aero 750 last year and it's the first bike I've ridden in probably 30 years...and back then it was all dirt bikes...lol. I'm in about the same boat as you. Been riding it for a year, thinking I'd like to go bigger...but then I do something kind of dumb that scares me and I realize I'm still okay with this for awhile more. Great bike for running around.

      If I remember the 09+ models got fuel injection. I wish I knew that before I picked mine up. For 90% of things the 750 is perfect but that extra little bit of power would be great.

    Neat. Im an older rider, two years on the bike and 30 years behind a wheel. Here in NZ we have to pass a basic handling test, which doesnt really seem anywhere near as comprehensive as the Motorcycle Safety course you all in the US have to pass, but then we still have to pass a written test to get a Lerners permit which lets you ride just about any 250cc -650cc (except banned bikes which are too powerful) for about a year, then you can sit a Restricted practical test, or a Competence Based Training Assesment to get a restricted licence. The bikes we can ride are still reserved to the LAMS category, but we can loose the L plate 8) Then you have to wait 6-12 months before you can sit a Full licence practical test or CBTA, then the world is your motorcycling oyster. Ive got about three more months on my restricted before I can go for that, but my learner cruiser is a Yamaha vStar 650, and to be honest, like your Shadow, will probably last me a while yet before Im bored of it. But I do Love me an Indian Scout..... maybe next upgrade in a couple of years. I try to ride every day, and my poor Mazda RX-8 hardly gets driven anymore.

      That is one heck of a process but I can see the benefit. Stepping up gradually is important. I agree the Indian Scouts/Bobbers look and sound amazing! Thank you for watching friend!

    I took the MSF class at the local Harley Davidson dealer.
    I also have the 08 Honda shadow 750. All the instructors said that's the best bike to ride for my area.

    • @LuckyAcesRiding
      @LuckyAcesRiding  2 года назад

      I figured they would have tried to sell you on a 883 Sportster since you took it at the Harley dealer lol. The Shadow 750 is a great balance for a beginner. It has enough power to keep you satisfied for a few seasons but not enough to get you in trouble.

    If possible, please fill with the fuel with the octane rating that Honda recommends in the owner's manual. Driving at extremely high octane levels can also cause your vehicle to lose performance because the ignition on the engine is set for the octane rating of the fuel in the owner's manual and not the premium fuel. Your motorcycle is not a Porsche or Nascar, which needs the high octane rating. 20 years ago a motorcycle magazine tested a Suzuki Hayabusa. First you drove the fuel grade that Suzuki recommended and then the premium fuel with the highest octane rating. The Suzuki had lost performance on the premium fuel. Why is that? Extremely high octane fuel is less ignitable because of the high knock resistance, which means that the ignition system and the spark plugs have more work to do. You then have the opposite effect, because as a consumer you think that only the best is good enough for the motorcycle. It's just a recommendation from me. I wish you a safe journey.

    • @LuckyAcesRiding
      @LuckyAcesRiding  2 года назад +1

      Thank you for the information Dennis. It usually takes me a few weeks to go through a full tank and from what I have heard the higher octane stuff should be "cleaner". I don't have a lot of experience with carbureted vehicles and the thought of keeping the carb clean is always on my mind.

    • @dennismundt7378
      @dennismundt7378 2 года назад +2

      @@LuckyAcesRiding When you fill up with fuel at a branded gas station, you can be sure that the engine will burn clean. As I wrote earlier, the engine and ignition timing is precisely matched to the octane number listed in your owner's manual. Japanese motorcycle brands develop the motorcycles and performance according to the minimum quality of fuel available worldwide. If you run on higher octane it's fine, but more work for the spark plug. You pay more at the gas station and under certain circumstances have less performance or poorer starting behavior because the premium fuel ignites less well due to its high knock resistance.

      @@LuckyAcesRiding You can add a little Seafoam to the tank at fillups, if you want to keep the carburetor clean. Also, don't fill it up all the way to the filler cap. Fill it to just below the filler neck, which is inside the tank. Overfilling it can flood the carburetor

      @@LuckyAcesRiding Also, always turn the petcock to "off", anytime you stop. Even if it is just for a few minutes. Just be sure to turn it back on when you start. LOL Leaving the petcock on after running, can cause the carburetor to flood, especially if you over filled the tank.
