- Everyone can make a car go fast, but supporting mods should also be considered. If you're putting your vehicle through any sort of motorsports abuse, albeit on the street, on a track or heading to work, you should not over look this one crucial part.
If you're increasing boost and running your car hard, it'll generate a massive amount of heat that can be very detrimental to a vehicles reliability and long-term health.
In this video we upgrade the tired and worn-out factory oil cooler and replace it with a massive unit. Of course, these cars are almost like lego and this upgrade could be completed on many different models including the following: N54, N55, N63, e90, e92, e93, e82, e70, etc. - just to name a few.
Stay tuned and see how this eBay part fits, was it 1/5 the price of an expensive kit? yes. Does it fit nicely enough? well. Lets find out!

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying your stay! We're trying hard to provide details and information so others can be better informed before tackling their own DIY jobs! Thanks for the kind words!
awesome and a very thorough video, thanks!
Very welcome!
I must say with all of us using this same eBay kit I regret not getting a aftermarket oil cooler thermostat which is my next project for my car
which thermostat were you going to get?
@@tony.nextlevelridesblock off. My oil cooler line just finally gave and broke having the bigger cooling fan on the is
Thank you for the video. Im about to do this same upgrade and your video is super helpful in my decision to get this kit and in my research of how to install. One thing I noticed is Vehicular DIY used the provided 90deg fitting on the top connection of the oil cooler and because its slim he didnt have to bend the corner back. So I wonder if you have one of the hoses backwards. The straight fitting I would use on the right connection of the thermo (the one closer to the drivers side), when you used 90s on both connections it made them hit each other, so the provided straight fitting would space them out (and you wouldn’t need the AN extension piece you’re recommending below). Also, one of the hoses is 1.4m and the other is 1.6m with a straight fitting so that would go the longer distance from the bottom of the oil cooler to the far side of the thermo with the straight fitting there. But all is well that ends well, glad you had an extra fitting and some creativity to still make it work. Again, you have gone through the install and I havent yet so you may be right, but I appreciate your video so I can stand on the shoulders of you giants. Thank you and Keep it going!
thanks for the kind words!! I guess you'll have to let us know when you get around to installing yours!
YOOOOOO I found the reason I’m smoking . Finally !! I’ve been chatting with u on RUclips off my other account .
awesome! what was the issue?
@@tony.nextlevelrides hey Tony .. it’s the turbos on the hot side . Leaking and smoking like crazy even more now than a couple days ago . So it’s parked now and I either have to get turbos or rebuild mine but I think new is best ! Otherwise idk what to do
I think new is best too. can't trust used stuff.
@@tony.nextlevelrides thanks sir .. that’s what I’m afraid of . I found some for $800 and idk if I should go with those . I dont have a ton of money as this things nickel and dimed me to death thus far.
@@tony.nextlevelrides can I ask you a question should I just get the turbos which come with the gaskets and all that do I need to get anything else? The car is at a local shop that always works on it for me. He is the one that will be installing them.
Very nice
Hey, do you remember if there was any washers that came in this kit that sat between the oil cooler itself & the AN fittings that connect to the cooler? Or did the AN fittings connect directly to the oil cooler with no washers?
they connected direct, no washers.
Was thinking about ordering this ? is there anything extra I would need to purchase as far as the fittings go ?
I would get one AN extension piece so the cooler lines run one on top of the other. like this.
AC PERFORMANCE Aluminum an Extender -10 an Female Flare to AN10 (7/8-14) Male Extensions Fitting Adaptor with O-Ring ORB, Full Length 46.75mm, Black a.co/d/ifcBTCA
does it actually work ? whats the temps now? did you do some racing ? thank you
yup! it works! of course it's dependant on what thermostat you use but with this, it's definitely staying cooler when pushed harder.
My favorite channel 💪
thanks dude! really appreciate it!!
These pipes will cause vibration???
no?
@@tony.nextlevelrides even in f10 535i?
@minawagdi2479 you'd have to see how much space you have, everything after. market requires at least a little amount of customization.
@@tony.nextlevelrides thank you for your reply. You made my day
Where can I buy that oil cooler bracket?
only comes with the cooler, on eBay!
Found it, thank you
Tony great video. I am using the same G Plus oil cooler. I have new up having leaks at the oil thermostat even after using several adapter kits and o-ring. I got so frustrated that I ended up getting an oil thermostat block off plate and an external thermostat. No leaks said nice!
What are your thoughts on this method? Thx
should work the same! don't see an issue going that way. it started sweating near the o rings so I'll get out sorted for him in the next week or so. I'm going to grind down the portion where the bolt goes through a bit so the sit more flush into the housing. should work then.
Perfect. Thanks.
Yea I’ve seen that mod when I was looking at solutions. I also wanted lower the thermostat open temp so it was a two for one solution for me.
you can shim the factory thermostat to crack open at a lower temperature. you can also get the thermostat piece from BMS to do the same. increases cooling.
I didn’t know about the shimming but know about the replacements for factory thermostat
What’s your opinion on open oil thermostat or oil thermostat delete ?
having a thermostat will keep the oil at the right temperature and help it cool. running without isn't a good idea since it would take long to warm up and likely over cool. not worth reinventing the wheel.
Hey! Where can I get the oil cooler and bracket?
it was literally the cheapest one on eBay.
Also Amazon has the full kit for $130
USD I'm guessing.
I think this is what I need. My engine is getting way too hot.
it's a worth while upgrade if that's the case!
