Completely agree. I did a tandem a few years ago and another this year. There is no fear except when the doors first open, then when you hit the airstream it’s a transcendent experience, and joyous. What a good and honorable man, her father. I really like people like him, who despite their pain and desperation for answers show strength and resolve, but without being consumed by bitterness.
I know this is going to sound so crazy to some, but me personally cant wrap my brain around the term "freak skydiving accident." I mean, it seems a redundant thing to say. You are choosing to jump thousands of feet towards the ground with with the only thing stopping you is the reliance of a rope and piece of cloth. Why take that risk for a quick rush?
@cameraflyer yes I am aware its more then just sting and cloth. 1 out of 9000 times is a great record. But after that 1 time... Risk taking is fun and exciting until it isn't. Just my personal opinion
@cameraflyer seems you both have 9000 jumps. Quite impressive. And yes, I agree...they call them emergency for a reason ;) You are falling thousands of feet to the ground.
Line twist on the primary, and perhaps the instructor didn’t cut away in time. Line twists happen all the time, but the instructor should have been able to kick out of it. Hate to say it, but seldom does the equipment fail.....and almost always it’s user error. Sad but it happens as this is a sport not without danger or risks.
Sad. I'll stay grounded. There's enough danger with two feet on the ground let alone dipping myself into the air. And what's up with the odd demeanor and lack of empathy on the fathers part as he does this interview. It sounds ss though he's talking about a death of a loved one after 15 years. Not a week. Odd.

Stupid, very stupid way to lose her life. "I don’t know what went wrong", says her old man. What went wrong was going up and jumping. May be she wanted to show off, or just bored with life.
Skydiving and accident are almost the same word. "The main chute malfunctioned for some reason". dah. Something packed with multiple strings has a high probability of turning into spaghetti at deployment. The whole concept is just FU
Ok, this is not a "freak" accident. These kinds of accidents happen in sky diving all the time. Just check the insurance actuary tables on people who skydive. Your chance of accidental death "sky" rockets.
@cameraflyer probably isn't stupid I just had a bad experience. It was thought that someone had fallen to their death while I was training on the ground to jump. The family watching was even weeping, two cop cars race by to go see what happened. ....then it was MY turn to jump and I was terrified. No one died, they had to deploy their reserve chute.
Why does the father appear to not even be remotely sorrowful in this?! Actual quote from him from the Today article: "We still haven't seen the video of her free-falling, but we hope that she was having the best time before this all happened." I'm calling shenanigans
Just looks like the instructor didn't get the reserve out in time. That or the main failed once they were pretty low, but normally it fails early or it doesn't fail. I hope they release the camera footage. So everyone can learn from this mistake :(
@@Bloink Chris Banana is right. Sounds like a main chute lines malfunction. Bad Twists, maybe knots too. If at high enough altitude, instructor would've done quick evaluation to correct problem. Have you ever went Skydiving? I have 0 interest in it
I don't know how her father is able to do an interview without showing any emotion. I'd be an absolute wreck for the rest of my life if something like this happened to my daughter.
What a good and honorable man, her father.
I really like people like him, who despite their pain and desperation for answers show strength and resolve, but without being consumed by bitterness.
Heartbreaking, warm regards and tears for your loss. ×2
the harry styles shirt made this hurt even more... all the love to her
Oh wow, she looks exactly like her grandmother 💓💓. I'm so sorry to the families for your beautiful losses.
136 jumps, 1972-1980 (130 freefalls), and tandem jumping scares the hell out of me. I'd never do it
Can u sky dive with 20 reserve chutes ?
RIP both of them 😢
I know this is going to sound so crazy to some, but me personally cant wrap my brain around the term "freak skydiving accident."
I mean, it seems a redundant thing to say.
And yes, I agree...they call them emergency for a reason ;)
You are falling thousands of feet to the ground.
So sad. Praying for her family
As we used to say in the military: A parachute is just a way to get to work.
Can I tell y’all. There is NO NEED TO JUMP OUT OF AN AIRPLANE! Don’t be in shock if you die...
Yup just as dumb as climbing mountains. Feel much worse for someone killed in car accident.
its fun lmao? skydiving is safer than driving btw
There are flights, outside military aviation, where pilots are REQUIRED to wear parachutes because THERE IS A NEED TO JUMP OUT OF AN AIRPLANE... maybe
🤔
Line twist on the primary, and perhaps the instructor didn’t cut away in time. Line twists happen all the time, but the instructor should have been able to kick out of it. Hate to say it, but seldom does the equipment fail.....and almost always it’s user error. Sad but it happens as this is a sport not without danger or risks.
My father-in-law said it best..."Why would you jump out of a perfectly good airplane?"
I'll never understand why people want to risk their lives like that.
And you’ll never truly live because you’ll spend your whole life in fear
Me: you jump first, me later if you are still alive..
So sorry for your loss
Damn.
Sad. I'll stay grounded. There's enough danger with two feet on the ground let alone dipping myself into the air. And what's up with the odd demeanor and lack of empathy on the fathers part as he does this interview. It sounds ss though he's talking about a death of a loved one after 15 years. Not a week. Odd.
You know I wouldn't go on judging a father that just lost his daughter. Different is different but not wrong. You can't tell anyone how they are supposed to grieve. Have you ever lost someone and you were just in shock?! Who are you to interpret someone's grieving process? Shame on you.
He's probably still in shock or on meds to keep him calm.
pov: you’re from her best friend’s tiktok, rip
How come when both die, they never even mention the instructor?
Wait, so the guy with the glasses explaining the scene is her father? He doesn't look inconsolable like the reporter says, looks like he explaining as just some random spectator...I'd be unable to speak if I saw any family member die that way in front of me, wth he's just rocking in his chair all nonchalant....
Not everyone grieves the same. Right now he's probably still in denial and the shock hasn't hit him yet.
he is. i’m the brother of jeanna. trust me, when we found out she was gone he was not okay.
@@giot2627 Aw I'm sorry Giovanni, forgive me...may she rest in peace. Know you will miss playing in a band with her. God Bless...
Shame on you for writing this comment. Who are you to judge someone's grieving process?
@@samjagerable Yes I totally agree shame on me, that's why I apologized. I honestly jumped to conclusion as if the father hadn't already grieved it's my mistake & will learn from it.
So Skydive Atlanta says the most of the jump was uneventful?
I can tell her daddy is so devastated
When do we admit that parachutes are emergency devices. Being used as recreation is ludicrous. Such a waste.
The fact she was wearing a Harry styles shirt made me cry she was obviously a beautiful soul
The fact that she died made me cry, but I understand, wearing a Harry Styles shirt is definitely a fashion fail.
@@fujimoyt6571 i know you’re trying to make a point, but you’re coming off as more of a dick than the person who only cares that she was wearing a harry styles shirt.
@@fujimoyt6571 yea no ofc I’m upset at her dying it’s just adding on to it yk?
She should have worn a ‘Winger’ t-shirt. Sad.
This is very very sad but statistically skydiving is safer than driving a car car or even riding in the car. You're 24 times more likely to die in a car accident than you are in a skydiving accident
I jumped once,....it was fun, but these occasional videos are making me reconsider going again.
Me too.
What is the big urge to go skydiving? I don't get it
They are saying that the emergency chute opened to late .
Or , is it that the instructor waited to late to pull 🤔
I’m not sure if you call deliberately jumping out of a plane and anything happening after that point a “freak accident!”
Sky diving is the most terrifying thing I have ever done it’s very risky
The risks are very low, provided you know what you are doing
SpongeBob said it before, All you need is a chip, a penny, napkin and you should be safe indoors
Heartbreaking.
I got some crazy glue for you mama

The sad part is for the girl she literally just graduated in May or June depending on the school and then the summer she dies in skydiving accident
RIP the guy too
I went skydiving once. It was amazing, one of the most fun things I've ever done..... I'll NEVER do it again because tossing dice with my life isn't something I want to do very many times.... This is just horrible luck on the 1st jump 😕
I'm typing this from my bed with 3 blankets and 3 pillows. I still haven't found a single video on RUclips where something went wrong with the pillow in a freak pillow accident and they died. I feel very safe
I believe 100% of the time this should be expected 👀
Yes but it's still horrible when it happens. It's like driving a car hitting a truck it's to be expected.
It is and it's why they have back up chutes... I wonder if they let her pack them?? Sad tragedy.. some schools teach parachute knots to students... Time will tell I think.
Sad af either way
...I have 10.000 jumps, 7.000 has tandem instructor... There are more deads in motorcycles & cars... sorry... but... it's life.
@@paulomsilva not placing blame at all... I just hope she didn't pack the chute is all... Just for the company liability not that that's what's important... Everyone involved is going thru it and just hope it's just ... Is what it is vs some blame to place anywhere...
It's not a freak accident when you've jump out of a plane I don't understand why anyone would skydive.
Ok, this is not a "freak" accident. These kinds of accidents happen in sky diving all the time. Just check the insurance actuary tables on people who skydive. Your chance of accidental death "sky" rockets.
Pun intended...
That's the girl's FATHER!? Seems pretty chipper for a man who just lost his daughter in a skydiving accident!
What a freak!!!
yeah right ...you'd think he was talking about getting a sprained ankle.
Is life itself not a big enough thrill? Enjoy and appreciate life.
The odds of dying in a skydiving accident is 1/ 101083 that’s pretty good odds
I was stupid enough to go sky diving once...never again
@cameraflyer probably isn't stupid I just had a bad experience. It was thought that someone had fallen to their death while I was training on the ground to jump. The family watching was even weeping, two cop cars race by to go see what happened. ....then it was MY turn to jump and I was terrified. No one died, they had to deploy their reserve chute.
Why does the father appear to not even be remotely sorrowful in this?! Actual quote from him from the Today article: "We still haven't seen the video of her free-falling, but we hope that she was having the best time before this all happened." I'm calling shenanigans
Don’t know what is appealing about jumping out of a damn plane ✈️ people need to stop this stupid practice. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
glad i watched these after skydiving
" .. in a freak skydiving accident ..." ... really ? Death should be considered to be a part of the real world options that can end each jump.
Just looks like the instructor didn't get the reserve out in time. That or the main failed once they were pretty low, but normally it fails early or it doesn't fail. I hope they release the camera footage. So everyone can learn from this mistake :(
"looks like"? you have no info or footage so that's a very, very strange thing to say
@@Bloink Chris Banana is right. Sounds like a main chute lines malfunction. Bad Twists, maybe knots too. If at high enough altitude, instructor would've done quick evaluation to correct problem. If not salvageable, you cut away main chute and immediately deploy the reserve. It stands to reason that the altitude was too low for cutting away.
What a tragedy! :-/
@@lilaw4987 my point being the instructor could've had a stroke for all you know
Reserves are a single bright color it sounds like the orange chute he mentioned WAS the reserve and it got tangled. Possibly with the drogue from the main.
her dad seems fine
Her father, mother, grandmother, brother, sister, former teachers and coaches, former teammates, her best friends and everyone she ever met were truly devastated to lose an amazing human being and you know what sometimes people put on a mask to hide their true emotions maybe remember that next time you comment
Prayers for the family instead of insensitive comments please. Everyone loved Jeanna so much and her family is grieving. Just because he didn't fall apart on national television does not in any way mean that he wasn't falling apart inside. Him along with everyone that knew her are completely devastated.
Going up alive doesn't mean you'll come down alive.
