This is so good. I've seen Rodger Waters live but this is a whole band song and without david Gilmour and the rest of the band it wasn't the same but still cool to see
❤️ beautiful, when my brother Dan Becker passed away, I got the lyrics to this song tattooed on my back. PF was his favorite. Remember when I ever sa the iconic prism, on a poster in his room when I was little. is grave marker even has "see you on the dark side of the moon" on it. His I miss him. One day I will hopefully track down one of his guitars. Thank you Umphrey McGee's for supporting my brother. He lived a amazing life. 💎🎸
A lonely birthday after losing my dad, my marriage and my sanity within a week of each other brought me here. The algorithm now knows the contents of our souls. Thank you RNGesus 2021 came out swinging
I've never even heard of these guys but it's heartening for an old Floyd fan from the 70's to hear someone pay homage, especially one of their not so mainstream songs.

Totally knocked it out of the park on this one. Phenomenal guitar playing, this is a great rendition of the original. Can't see how anyone would give this performance a thumbs down but definitely a two thumbs up from me.
Just awesome, giving new interpretations through live performance of compositions is what keeps classical music alive and relevant today; the same should apply to 'popular music' as well - this one sure sets a high standard for other performances of Shine on you.
It isn't Pink Floyd, but no-one is..except Pink Floyd. It's Umphrey's McGee and they are playing a song, that I can't even imagine to be able to play. It it's awesome. To you who critizise it, I dare you to do a better job..... Staying so close to the original not only shows their respect for the original but also that they very skilled musicians. I can only say "I wish I were there". I must have been absolutely magic.
Just "re-visited" the video again, as so many times before, this past month. I am blown away everytime and in total awe of Umphreys Mcgee`s stunning performance. I am and have always been a massive Pink Floyd fan. Music was born in 1962 when Pink Floyd was formed, in my opinion :) :D. Since Pink Floyd is no more, the only way to get a taste of the magic is to seek out concerts with some of the many brilliant coverbands around. I know Umprey's McGee isn't a Pink Floyd cover Band as such, but this version of "S O Y C D", is one of the best if not the best cover of this song I ever had the pleasure to listen to. An european tour, including Denmark is needed !!!! I would go to the concert, just to hear this song and getting all the other tunes on their set-list, performed equally brilliant, as a bonus.
Nice comment. They seem to have good technique, but that's only one part of music. You have to got a "feeling" (can't find a better word) for it and put your soul into music. One of my favorites is Mike Oldfield. Watch his early Live concerts. He plays some tunes wrong, there are technically better players than him, but still I wish I had the chance to experience it live. I can feel him even through the video. It just flows out of him and that's for example what Pink Floyd also delivers.
I agree. No one out there comes near their level of virtuosity as a band. But I have a love/hate relationship with these guys. Sometimes they scare the shit out of me especially if I'm in an alternate state of mind if you know what I mean. Yet I keep going back and have seen them 20+ times. Yeah it's weird.
I was at this show on a head full. There was a thunderstorm in the distance and you could see lightning striking over the denver area. The what I think was full moon stayed hidden most of the night until they played this and it slowly emerged from behind the clouds above the stage. lt all came together so well. I was spun but will never forget that.
Captures a Pink Floyd vibe without trying to sound exactly like the Floyd; what more could you ask for?? This rocks, and I dig it greatly, even having been fortunate enough to see Gilmour himself play it! Really love the slightly more aggressive sound in the intro section, reminds me of the 80s Floyd sound
i'm so reliefed when i see him tuning the g string. It was out of tune in frequency ratio. I checked the comment section and did not see anybody commenting about the tuning. Anyways one of the greatest and original covers i've ever heard so far. Good job guys. You did really well by adding your style into it. This is what the word ''cover'' meant to be. Unique.
I typically hate covers because most bands do a bad job, especially when trying to cover Pink Floyd. You dudes crushed it and did them proud. Quality, thanks.
The best ever song to a friend that was lost to mental illness. It does not get any better or more honest in a loving way thatn PF did with this song. They were all heart broken about losing their friend. Such a sad story with a beautiful message. Just ran across this tonight. What a great tribute to one of my favorites
They're not Pink Floyd...they're Umphrey's McGee. They know dam well they are not Pink Floyd, however, it does not stop them from performing a poignant, tight rendition of Shine on you Crazy Diamond...well done! Umphrey's McGee...well done indeed. Carry on you jamolicous, rock star band. Pile on many more layers...and shine!
I’m an old prog rock guy (Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, ELP, gentile giant etc), who happens to have been a session player for decades. Believe me, there are not a lot of bands out there today that impress me. UM is one of the very few that get my attention, and it’s well deserved. There is a lot of musical prowess in this group of folks. Just give the London sessions or Anchor drops a listen...... It’s really a shame that the general public wouldn’t know good music if it bit them in the a**, especially in the US. Keep making great music, and us people that appreciate it will keep listening.
You guys honed in on THE BEST version of this song. Nice job. So glad to see it get the respect it deserves. Delicate Sound of Thunder is a great album to listen to during long drives on open roads.
I saw PF in Germany in the 70,s (yes I'm old) yall did an awesome job. Saw dire straits back then to. I'm told I had a great time, but I remember very little,,,because it was the 7o,s and everyone was shiny. 😉
Oh. Chills up and down my body. Got to see this song played twice by Roger Waters while with my dad, and dad saw them in Chicago in 70’s and 80’s. Truly a special song to me.
I take such enjoyment from seeing amazing bands like Umphrey's. I love getting a gift like this at a show, an awesome cover. Haven't been in the crowd for awhile, but I'll making up for it soon.
Got stuck in traffic going into the 1st Bannaroo and spent 12 hrs. and 15 miles with you guys. Mary played Uno with the band in the rv. I walked the road boozin, and Jesse snailed the Subaru. I will never forget that night!
What a fantastic rendition of a wonderful song. Dark Side of The Moon started it all and the many songs of PF have come back to stun listeners of today. It takes balls to try this tune and they did it GREAT! Thank You guys!
oh man you are in for a treat. Best band in the world. Check out any live version of Ocean Billy or Mantis. Both great songs to get the feel and get hooked

WOW! I was lucky to see the original Pink Floyd several times, have seen shows at Red Rocks and recently catch UM a few times - the combo in this video is perfect for all the good feels, THANKS!
You guys killed it! Hats off to a great cover from one of Rock's greatest bands of all time, The Floyd! A buddy of mine turned me on to Umphrey's McGee just today and I'm thankful to get turned on to new bands & music anytime. You guys are damn good! Thanks for the upload!
+Shea Beltran I definitely will do so. After watching several videos, these guys are all over the place. Covering Phil Collins to the mighty "Floyd"! I need to hear their own material but their covers are second to none. Thanks again!
+THEKID219 Some of my favs: Morning Song, Hajimemashite, Glory, Booth Love, Mantis, Puppet String, Educated Guess. But you really can't go wrong. They jam hard. Enjoy!!!
Accolades to UM... In reverence to one of the greatest bands of all time... I know these guys sleep with their instruments. Tremendous musicians... David Gilmour would be proud!
I first met you guys in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart on my way to Phish at Coventry. Little did I know then just how awesome you cats are! Thank you for this!
As brilliant as Jake is hearing this makes you really appreciate having seen Floyd back in 70s. Gilmour made the intro guitar lines seamless in a way that lve never seen matched since.
This is the best cover of this song I've ever heard. It's nice they realised what makes Pink Floyd isn't playing the exact thing they played, it means playing different with creativity and improvisation, and soul; things those tribute bands actually lack. Really good job. Also, I love another PF cover that shares some good things with this one: Kauan's cover of Breathe: it's just too good as a cover; as if pf was a 21st century rock band, they would play Breathe this way.
There is an insane amount of talent on that stage. Not many bands come close to playing this tight.
They’re a pretty talented bunch, for sure. Extremely versatile.
When Gilmore e mails Jake. And tells him good job keep it up who am I to say!!!!
Probably the best cover of this song any of us will ever hear!!!
This is so good. I've seen Rodger Waters live but this is a whole band song and without david Gilmour and the rest of the band it wasn't the same but still cool to see

This sounds great! I saw Floyd four times starting in 1973. These guys are excellent musicians and do this song justice. Thank you for playing it!
Congratulations
I saw Floyd about 50 or 60 times. My Uncle Floyd that is. Did you ever see Genevieve? That was my my Uncle Floyd's wife.
Best band that tours. Can cover Yes. Or anyone.
The best live band to shred the land! Umph Love..

I come back to this again and again.
One of today's most talented bands paying tribute to one of the most talented bands of yesterday.
Greatness.
Totally agree. UM are so tight in terms of their musicianship. What a treat
120,000%.
That's good enough to bring an old Pink Floyd fan to tears! Thanks!
J.Ray Shovelpig, Not quite,sorry.
Ya it's good enough... operative word being 'enough'
I saw these guys in 90s in Milwaukee and they had an amazing show!! I also experienced pink floyd at the milwauke county stadium in the mid 80s life was the best!! Its a shame that folks will never experience this kind of ever again 🙁 WHAT HAPPENED!!!!
Apples and Oranges.......
BOTH are delicious!!!
This is rough.
This band is slowly becoming really well known over the world ! What a band they are.
Totally knocked it out of the park on this one. Phenomenal guitar playing, this is a great rendition of the original. Can't see how anyone would give this performance a thumbs down but definitely a two thumbs up from me.
I was at this. It was the most amazing experience. Mind blown.
How many fireworks could you see?
Me too!!!! It was an amazing show

So nice to see real music being passed down to real musicians for a change.
That’s a lot of energy in this performance. You guys made it your own. Really loved it.

BRAVO!!! From Russia with LOVE!!!
Слушаю весь в мурашках 😅
Присоединяюсь. Это великолепно!❤❤❤
Достойно. Весьма. Но Гилмор - лучше. Это " другое прочтение классики ", как нынче пишут.

Best cover of this song ever.

One of the best songs ever created by one of the greatest bands of all time. I'd say they did quite a nice job covering it
They are in my top 6.1) Led Zeppelin2) Rolling Stones3) Bob Seager4) Eagles5) Lynard Skynard6) Pink Floyd
Is beautiful!!!!!!!!!
Gave me goose bumps, such an awesome song

One of the most highly skilled bands out there. 10/10 for technical prowess. Hope they tour Canada one year.

I’ve seen lots of people cover PF, but I’ve only seen a couple do it RIGHT!
