One of the greatest palace to have existed in ancient Africa is the one built by Oba Ewware Ogidigan of the Igodomigodo empire (stretched from Nigeria to Cameroun). It’s architectural level was out of this world, you should look into. I laugh when white people try to claim we all lived in mud houses dancing naked in the jungle when in reality we lived in luxury that could never fathom, projection at its finest.
Since you on this ancient structures topic, I want to ask you if you have ever heard of pyramid type structures in Chad and SE Nigeria. They are supposed to be older than the pyramids in Kemet and Kush. Could you do a programme on these structured of west africa.
Yeah plenty of palaces, castles, fortresses, temples, walls, doors, fences, gates, windows, mirrors, reflections, and tombs that need to be found and dug into
Most definitely! There is still so much to be discovered. I would love to learn more about life during the Songhai Empire! Many books in the Timbuktu Library have yet to be translated into English.
ABOVE the Sahara. The Earth is a sphere, floating through space. It is not a law of physics that the north (also a construct) is above. One can flip everything around and claim that Madagascar is on top of everything. So, Africa ABOVE the Sahara, or Super-Sahara Africa instead of Sub-Sahara (like Sub-human). Words matter. Super-Sahara ftw.
You should do a video on the Funj Sultanate. Not much is known about it but it was a pretty powerful empire that survived ongoing wars with much larger empires. It encompassed most of Modern-day Sudan, west eritrea, west Ethiopia.
We need more examples of architecture below the Sahara. This is one reason many assume there is less history in sub-Saharan Africa. Because they don't see many pre colonial structures still standing.
This was good, I love this site its one of my favourite ruins on the continent, I wish we had an image or illustration showing it at its height. Btw you should do this type of video on the Old Dongola palaces and cathedrals. I have been reading a book on them and I was blown away by the findings. Old Dongola was beautiful and if ever pop culture decides to make a film or tv series based on the Battles of Dongola or any other historical event involving Old Dongola and Makuria they have a lot of information to replicate the city and citadel.
@@medievalafrica Sure the book is called "Dongola - Ancient Tungul archaeological guide" by Wlodzimierz Godlewski, It gives such a vivid picture of the city, its many churches, cathedrals, mansions and palaces etc. It also has some 3D models of some buildings. Unfortunately we don't show much for our western european and asiatic religious affiliations. We have to return to our own ancestral religions and spirituality.

Why below the Sahara? Africa is Africa. Blak is blak
