i've been thinking for ages about Retro/CRT style monitors and have been wanting to design and build one myself, so the joy i felt when i found this video is indescribable. would love to see similar content! thank you for sharing this with the internet :)
Your 3D Printing Skills are next level. This is so cool!! Good luck with your channel. I really hope you're able to grow it into something amazing! Your content is very well made and interesting!
I've always wanted to build a modern gaming pc into an old crt case ..there were plenty of flat screen crt monitors towards the end of the crt era that would lend them selves to an LCD style screen freeing up all the space behind the screen....at hp we had 22" flat screen CRTs back in the very early 2000's....now I'm going to have to look out for a broken one.
@@aqfj5zy It looks like a mini CRT on my desk that plays the weather channel emulator, that is the purpose. Sometimes things are built for form over function.
should of added a heavy power bank in the crt shell to power the entire pc, or at least heavy metals to weight down the crt from feeling like a little toy ❤
Now you need a pair of 40mm aliexpress speaker drivers and an amplifier module, to make speakers that are in keeping with the size (could cheat and make it a 2.1 with the bass hidden in the monitor case... magnet won't bother the LCD)
This looks beautiful, I'd love to see the extra screen you bought in a Commodore 1702 styled case, it would be perfect for theC64 Mini, as would one styled as a 1084s for the upcoming A500 mini! You could even fit a hefty power bank inside it to power both the monitor and the mini ;)
Your fitment for 3d printed parts is excellent. My first idea was, there is enough space in the housing for an optical drive, that didn't fit into the pc case.
You should grab an IPS upgrade kit for your Gameboy Pocket (yeah, it's a thing, and they're mostly drop in replacements; I installed one in my DMG last week). ✌🏻
It's cute, but a bit too novel for my taste. I always even in the early 2000's preferred a small, and quiet system, but a big display. I am even working on putting a PC board, into a 32 inch Sharp CRT TV, this thing weighs 116 lbs, but that is just the weight of the CRT the board of this TV is tiny, so lots of room to add a mid 2000 PC board, mini PSU and the set has 3 line in inputs, and HDMI 1.0. I did enjoy this video. So thumbs up for creativity. Good job.
Doing a diy monitor myself, which led me here. Wish i had a 3d printer to make stuff like this. I'll likely be stuck going with wood and painting it beige to hopefully trick peoples eyes.
Hey, thanks for reaching out. The channel has been pretty much fallow during summer unfortunately, because of reasons. But I’m back working on stuff again now, and I haven’t forgotten about those STLs. So stay tuned! :)
@@OddObsolete Thank you! I ordered the display and will start working on the print. I might modify your design to make it look more like a Sony Trinitron. Going to use it to display a WS4000 on my desk. Thank you for posting the STL!!!
Hey, channel’s been in zombie-mode during summer unfortunately. But now I’m working on stuff again, and I haven’t forgotten about those STLs. They are simply a bit delayed! :)
Greetings from the USA! I love your channel, that mini CRT style monitor is really cool! What is the name of the computer program that you used to design it?
You really should replace the screen of the Gameboy with an IPS instead of misusing it as a stand, what a shame... But at least it is in use, I guess 🤷♂️
It's my dream to have an retro-style ITX case and monitor for my current PC setup. Well done!

Wow, I REALLY like this tiny computer ! I hope to find one on a flee market one day ! Awesome videos !!

That would be a really cool project!
Just wanted to say thank you. I printed this, got the LCD in, and it's absolutely perfect. Using it on my desk for a little weather channel TV.
That’s awesome!

Super awesome video and project, wow!
The perfect addition! This gives me an idea to model one after the old commodore 1702 monitor for my dad to go with his c64 mini.
In the next video, Odd & Obsolete makes tiny matching speakers…. then a mouse…. then a keyboard 😂
Nice work, as always.
It’s inevitable! :)
The Mac with a tiny CRT was hilarious!
That is so cute. I would love to own a mini 98 PC like this.
I stumbled across your videos from LGR and all I gotta say is I want more! More more morr! Great work
should of added a heavy power bank in the crt shell to power the entire pc, or at least heavy metals to weight down the crt from feeling like a little toy ❤
Really looking forward to the keyboard build!! :)
Loving your videos! It's amazing how far 3D printing has come, that looks like an injection-molded case!

any plans on sharing the stl files and a link to the lcd panel you used for the monitor?
I know of a very simular project from Laserbear.
I plan to share the STLs, but I want to make some adjustments first.
Added link to the panel in the video description.

awesome project and great planning
It's a perfect fit for the case, I love it
all you need now is small speakers to match!!
Yes. An inevitable addition :)
And a keyboard. Maybe a tiny model-M?
This is AMAZING!!! Awesome job dude!:D love that tiny screen on the power mac!:P looks so silly:D
absolutely incredible!
OMG I WANT ONE OF THESE!!
Good job! I wish one day by having a crt style monitor like yours!👍🏻
holy moly, this is my dream to own

Ha, yes, maybe. That’d be an interesting solution!
Fun projects and great work!

Wow that's great
I'd love a mini crt!
Nice job! Just wondering what color you used for the filament?
Hi, do you paint your parts or did you use a filament with that beige colour? If you used a filament, which one?
Wow kudos
Very Perfect ❤👏
What is the song that starts at 3:24. Thanks
You need a hhkb classic in ivory board to hook up to this, how sick
Looks like it would match pretty well, thanks for the suggestion!
Sooooo beautiful
it would be great to use all that empty space on top for the speakers
Might do something like that!
Would've been cooler if you added the disk drive detail some of them had
Brilliant 🤜💥🤛

Sounds like a cool project!
@@OddObsolete It's only intended for gaming though. Emulators, MAME, NES, SNES, PS, bet yes it will be cool.

What are the screws and sizes?
Hey man wondering when you're gonna come back. Really wanna see a new video and those STL files

Miniature mice & keyboard when ? 🥰
Hi would you think I could use this with AV cables and snes
With a different driver board, I don’t see why not. But the one I use in the video only support HDMI input.
@@OddObsolete thanks a lot
I will just use a converter
where to get the stl files
MIni speakers and mouse next?
That would be fun!
Holy crap this is amazing! Would go really well with the 65C02 computer I am designing. What 3D printer do you use to create such large prints?
Thanks! This one just about fits in a stock Ender 3.
Best of luck with your project!
Do you share the stl printing files? The ITX case is nice, i like it. 👍😊
Yes! Had forgotten to add links to this video, but here it is: www.thingiverse.com/thing:5564208
The case files are also on my thingiverse profile.
Could you make a simular project for a CRT TV to hook up the classic/mini consoles to it?
Someone else already did, LGR made a video about a while back: ruclips.net/video/eDg5c_-eUr8/видео.html
Should have bought a portable color CRT tv and 3d printed a case for it, that way it would have been an actual CRT :)
Wouldn’t want to ruin one of those though! But otherwise it would be really cool to have an actual CRT.
Did you print the rear shell of the monitor with or without supports?
No supports, back face down
@@OddObsolete Thank you! I ordered the display and will start working on the print. I might modify your design to make it look more like a Sony Trinitron. Going to use it to display a WS4000 on my desk. Thank you for posting the STL!!!
awesome
Any word on those STL files? :)

Thank you! The CAD program is called Fusion 360.
Dude give it some tiny speakers!
You really should replace the screen of the Gameboy with an IPS instead of misusing it as a stand, what a shame...

Maybe I’ll get to that eventually ;)
now: tiny speakers and tiny keyboard/mouse
Put the pc inside it
When you can't afford a CRT...
But it isn't a CRT, so why not make a flat screen, those are still quite old now, I still have a very early one.
Primarily I wanted the CRT aesthetic, but I’m thinking about doing a flat screen version too.
Lol pcb800815
Haha! Hadn’t noticed until now. That’s hilarious 😂
@@OddObsolete I thought you did that on purpose ….. 🤥
