    A 6-7 guy, who weighed maybe 215, tied the NBA finals record for offensive rebounds. Think about that for a minute. He routinely outplayed guys like Kemp, Shaq and Malone, who towered over him. The guy wasn't just a hard worker, he was a master of psychology. He got in guys' heads, made them take stupid fouls, and by the fourth quarter they were just f---ed. If I'm making my dream team, Rodman's on it, flaky behavior and all, because he gets my other guys a dozen extra possessions a game easy.

    • @brixtonmystery

      Well, come on, you're never gonna win MVP with a handful of points, especially not when a teammate is out there putting down 40 a night!! He was an important part of the team, but he was never THE MOST deserving of MVP!!!

    • @bobykrumov
      @bobykrumov 7 лет назад +38

      I watched all the games back then. Dennis deserved absolutely the MVP. (And I am a crazy Jordan fan).
      1-st, because he was an equal factor as MJ. He just dominated the whole finals with his presence. And 2-nd, because these are the only Finals, in which Jordan wasn's so dominant and effective. He was a bit tired from the 72:10 season. His stats were not very good (27 Pts with 42% FG) compared to his Finals averages of 33.6 and 48%. The same could be said of the Finals MVP in 2005, which should be given to Manu Ginobili.

    i miss rod.
    i really think the league need's someone that can match rod's toughness and psychological approach.
    if he was playing in the league right now, he'd be guarding the best players. i'm 100% sure he could lock up bron. get inside his head and get him out of his game.
    rod loved the go against those "celebrity" players.

    What was great about Rodman, outside of his skills, personality, behavior, etc, was his spirit of the game. He was like a kid who dreamed to play at the biggest stage and delivered. Rodman also never went far with his acts vs opposing players(Kemp, Schrempf). He was smart not to be taken out of the game with a fight. Even though many(media) considered him different from other role models or labeled him strange, he was still fun to watch.

      Roderick Aspiras it’s open lanes because of the spacing. Teams back then dumbass idea of offense was to force yourself as close to the paint as possible, which makes it easier for defenses to guard you. Today all 5 positions can shoot the three which opens up the floor.

      You're delusional. Did you not see all those bricks being thrown up and all those unnecessary turnovers due to lack of floor spacing? This was hard to watch. Players are sooooo much more skilled nowadays.

      @@greatest599 Exactly. Either one of these teams would get decimated by most NBA teams today because of the spacing of modern offenses. People always say defense was better back then but it's all bs.

    Someone said that (although they did admit it was controversial) Rodman was just as much the MVP as Jordan was in winning those titles in 96-98......and in hindsight I'm starting to almost agree: that if fact Rodman was as integral part of this dynasty as Jordan. it's just amazing how he was able to be dominant without scoring.

      Stephen steve MJ told a story on The Last Dance about the team not being able to catch up with Dennis during a running drill after he came back from his Vegas "vacation". They all thought he would be out of shape but it in reality, it took them 4 laps to pass him. I heard Bill Wennington say that Dennis looked back and slowed down and the guys eventually caught up. They'd still be running after him today if he hadn't done that.

    There has actually been some pretty compelling arguments for why Rodman should have won finals MVP in this series. Whether you agree with those arguments or not, one thing is for sure, they would had a whole lot tougher time without him.

      @scorp0171 4 года назад +1

      there was a lot of arguments at this time too and a lot of people already said that Rodman was the really MVP of the series !!! George Karl said it, french commentator said it too in live, french sport newspaper "l'équipe" wrote it and a lot of basket's fans agreed.... But it was mj's time and for David Stern, nobody else should be Mvp. With Jordan and Nba's business rules around the world, it was forgotten : we have a recent example with "the last dance" without a very short time about 96'season and finals just about Jordan's come back to win.

  • @mikelasowski5007

    No slight to MJ, but he was very human in this series compared to the other Finals he played in. Pippen was average too. I've always felt Rodman was the Bulls best player in this series and should have won MVP. He dominated these games even with only scoring like 8 a game. Two games with 10+ offensive boards is insane.
