Hi, Trovarian! Stunning job as always! I was wondering - what putty did you used for the project?
I have never seen a miniature refresh fall so universally flat. Literally everyone is dunking on our boy Coteaz. Really makes me wonder who the hell is grenelighting this stuff?
The sanguinary guard gave him a run for his money 💔
It's very bizarre. If it was just a question of taste then it would make sense but the design doesn't even really look like the previous model or artwork apart from in the broad concepts.
It's 100% a "Fat Positive" person. Just take a look at the Black Templar Castellan, or compare the new Lelith Hesperax to the old. It's pure insanity.
Yeah so many of the new 40k models just look so awkwardly posed and bulky. Almost like they're action figures instead of statues. But aos is out there with absolutely stunning sculpts again and again and again.
@@PerfectionHunter to be fair the black templar castellan is pretty much supposed to be a 1:1 of the John Blanche which they did a solid job on.
He sculpted trim to that little inquisitor symbol, man that is so impressive
I just cannot understand how good some people can handle sculpting materials/ tools. Jaw dropping, literally.
The combo between the lack of creativity and personnality in the GW sculpt, and the way it's mold cast making it complex to assemble with many ugly lines to hide with putty...
Clearly something is going wrong in the process at GW.
You did an AMAZING job on this mini, I'm in awe of your sculpting skills, and kitbashing skills ! Can't wait to see how you paint it
the fun fact is that the old minis doesn't have that problem
It's a problem I only see in 40K honestly. The Necromunda, Bloodbowl and even AoS minis have tons of personality still. I haven't had too much issue with the ugly lines either with those.
They're probably making new stuff at a record pace and so corners are being cut.
@@Ben-fk9ey Or trying to simplify models in 40k as they see it as the intro game into the GW universe. In comparison, as mentioned above, all other subgames are releasing more and more intricate and higher quality sculpts.
The model position/compositon really showcases how keen your sculptor's eye is. Keeping the eagle at an angle frames the models face from the front, ties together the lines from the other perspectives in a fluid way, and above all heightens a sense of movement: the model strides forward launching the eagle while extending the other arm+hammer behind it. The model is truly dynamic (not off-balance). Bravo!
All of that was the plan, yes! Glad it was visible!
Now that's a proper Coteaz right there. Cant wait to see it painted.
OK, I knew Trovarion was amazing at painting...but that he is just as amazing at sculpting was news to me...and oh my freaken god!
The sculpting on the leg details was really next level. Great mini, thanks for the video.
Chris: I own a 3-d printer.
Me: You ARE a 3-d printer!
Stop and think about the scale of the figure... now picture how tiny a SHIN is for that figure... now calculate the size of the Inquisitorial symbol on that... NOW ADD A TRIM?! 😱😱😱 Absolutely flawless execution, I'm very much looking forward to seeing it painted! Make sure to do side-by-side with the original figure so we, the audience, can see how far you've come a painter (as I, for one, am very curious)!
You didn’t fix the model….you built an entirely new model!!🔥
Whoa... you weren't kidding about all the work that went into this conversion. I've seen a lot of cool kitbashes on YT but this one takes the prize for maximum effort. Thanks Chris!
What a transformation. Killer skills, tones of info to learn from, shade shovled onto GW, snark set to 750%.
Oh yeah, we are so back
Your model cleaning, pinning, cutting and sculpting really show your knowledge about forms and sculpting.
There's kitbashing, and then there's "Fine, I'll just sculpt 1/2 of the mini myself." Amazing work.
This is amazing, it just sucks that you essentially have to resculpt and redesign virtually every element of the model to make it look like its supposed to. Cant wait to see it all painted up!
That Godfather clip 😂
The first time i saw the new Coteaz i had the exact same reaction. Thank god i have the old metal Coteaz that mini is top tier Inquisition!!!
Your kitbashing skills are next level! More videos like this please 🙏
What a great conversion! You have mad sculpting skills, especially for that scale.
local inquisitor gets a new hairdo, damn
Looks incredible Trov.. GW, hire him!
Goddamn that sculpting is so clean and detailed, you’re a wizard at these killer kitbashes. The Nightlord was amazing but this is blowing my mind.
This looks incredible, I hope GW see this and take notes . Your sculpting was spot on
Just wow, such a dramatic improvement ! I love the new dramatic pose and how you've managed to bring out the spirt of the artwork. I cannot wait to see how your painting is going to compliment your sculpting. I really appreciate how you layout your thought process and show us the way you're handling the different steps you're taking.
I was gonna complain about the dreadnaught nappy he still had going, but then the loincloth got deployed and covered it up... GW's rendition of this fell so flat... they somehow managed to take the last 20 years of technical advancements and just inverse it while removing the character that minis of that time had... Glad you were able to rescue this thing though!
That is amazing sculpting. I'm totally awestruck watching all those details take shape and look so sharp.
That hair sculp is amazing o.O
By the Emperor´s mummified testicles... This is a truly outstanding conversion.
Stellar job, Cris. Stellar job!
holy fuck. i thought your miniature paints were amazing already, but you sculpting skills are something else. that figure is like 50% putty. with all these youtube miniature painting videos, i often tend to forget how tiny all these bits actually are. to sculpt something like those skulls and inquisition symbols on that scale is really impressive. not a SM/inquisition fan, but that turned out great.
impressive as hell especially sculpted parts on legs and head, so much attention to detail, truly inspiring
I would love to see whole thing primed at the end
That is one of the best miniatures I've ever seen. And getting to see the sculpting and process of how it came to be. Pure entertainment. Loved this so much
Absolutely incredible! That old artwork is so amazing and you really did it justice
Okay.. that is actually a sick kitbash! Love your painting style but your sculpting skills are next level! Well done Chris
I'm jealous of your sculpting skills, amazing! Tried and failed making white scars simbols for my HH minis, so I can really appreciate how much effort went into this.
Wow. The sculpting skills are not from this world. Incredible work.
Man that looks absolutely stunning! What a freaking upgrade! Would personally preferred him bald and with some fur on the back but that's just nostalgia i think. Dude looks badass, your conversion skills are next level
This is one of the most impressive customizations of a miniature I have ever seen. Incredible work!
"Games workshop makes the best miniatures". Incorrect. The Warhammer community makes the best miniatures. Fantastic work, Trovarion.
You did my man Coteaz justice! The OG model was the first one I tried to paint pretty many many years ago
Absolutely amazing conversion! Your sculpting work is incredible and the finished mini is a first class tribute to the classic inquisition artwork. 👌
Hope you're feeling pretty proud of that your sculpting is fantastic. Just the right length video for me and the right level of explanation *chefs kiss*
I was like, he 3d printed the details how nice, but then I did a rewind. Oh god.
Man you and Duncan really gave this character the love they deserve. This is really cool!
Amazing resculpt! It's awesome watching you sculpt! Mind-blowing how well you get the second shoulder pad so sharp and just like the other shoulder pad!
And that GW is how it is done!!! Another amazing project, can’t wait to see you paint it. 👍👍👍
This was freaking insane Trov, such crispy details! Hope to see it painted!!
**ring ring**
Yes Officer? I would like to report a murder, a poor GW sculptor was just killed.
Dang what a fix, I wish the model came out the box like that :D
Coteaz was the reason my first codex was daemonhunters. You did him some epic justice with your kitbashed and incredible sculpting. I do miss the fur mantle though.
I can really see that you're continuously working on improving your content. The addition of humorous elements is fantastic and adds a lot to the experience-I really enjoy it! The material feels more engaging than ever. Keep up the great work!
Insane sculpting skills man, that mini looked so much better
It's such a joy to watch you sculpt and kitbash. Superb! This is outstanding
This is amazing work.. Next level sculpting.. I cannot wait to see the primed and painted version...
Dude your sculpting skills are out of this world!
Unreal sculpting man - at first I was like why the heck he gonna cut this up no way it’ll be as good and mid way through the sculpt I am speechless
Holy crap this is without a doubt the best, most detailed conversion I've ever seen
Wow, really impressive sculpting skills! Would love to see him painted up.
That is incredible. GW should be embarrassed by some of the junk they are churning out recently.
That is the model that we all would have wanted as the refresh! Fantastic conversion!
I really like it that you showed how much can be done by "just" shaving the material of the mini down. I think your meticulous work in each step really paid off as the end result is so dynamic.
The sculpting bits you did are impeccable! What putty are you using nowadays?Thank you once again for the conversion inspiration. These are my favourite kind of hobbyvideo and every one that you've done has taught me something new.
You outdid yourself on this one. That sculpt is amazing.
Just about anything done to the new Coteaz model would make it look better, but this really takes it all the way back to the perfection of the old one.
If Coteaz looked like this id be collecting imperial agents right now.
What a fantastic conversion man! looks really dynamic and epic. Very well done.
Good lord this one's an intense process, but the rework looks incredible.
JFC the sculping in this video is crazy. Really impressive
It's always great time watching you sculpt for minis, absolutely awesome work.
10/10 this is amazing work. You are a gifted artist, and I love seeing this miniature re-imagined into what it could have been.
Awesome video! I really enjoy watching the process of how people convert and make things. This is exactly the content I wish to make. Looking forward to seeing it painted!
Brilliant video, amazing sculpting... really keen on seeing the painting of this great character.. I'm not that big a 40k fan but i would love to have this model to paint if for my cabinet!! 🤩
Insane sculpting! I can't wait to see you paint it.
Glorious indeed! Looking forward to the painting video!
This was absolutely amazing, 1000% better than the GW version. Can't wait to see the paint job on it!
This is the conversion I was waiting for. Incredible work.
Your sculpting skills are top notch!
Incredible work Trovarion! I remember that codex being the first one I bought as a kid so seeing it be the inspiration for the sculpt made my nerd heart happy. And as always, love learning from your vids.
Now thats an epic reworking giving Coteaz a true update.
Awesome work!
But.... Where's his nipple armour?
This is a truly glorious masterpiece you've created ❤❤ can't wait to see it fully painted!
So glad to see your sculpting skills again. Very impressive work. I like it a lot!
Now THIS is what he should have looked like! looks amazing but I would have loved it if you had kept the fur detail on the cape given it was on the original model. Just think the cape looks a little bare in comparison to the much more detailed armour you’ve given him. Unbelievable job though and please do more sculpting in videos in the future because it’s super impressive!
Wow, you genuinely made a model that's leaps and bounds better
Massive improvement, though personally I don't like the shoulders - either have deliberate and significant asymmetry or have properly symmetrical left and right shoulders IMO - seems to me like the bird side shoulder guard has a great excuse to look different as he's got a bird to carry/feed etc. So for me add some details that make it look like that shoulder is meant to make it comfortable for him to carry the bird, give it a narrowed bar across the top for the bird to grip, maybe a little bit of giblet caught on it from the birds last meal...
The beginning of this video expresses exactly how I feel about some of these new Blood Angels minis lol
That sculpt is very impressive . Nice vid !
Warhammer RUclipsrs: "The new kits all have too many details"
Also Warhammer RUclipsrs: "The new kits do not have enough details"
Dude GW should hire you on the basis of this kitbash. Astounding.
The secret is that GW doesn't pay well, so being a warhammer youtuber might be more profitable. It's the same reason they could never get very good game designers. You can do really well designing the next great thing, like Codenames or Ticket to Ride. but you are not going to get paid well improving warhammer
Dude that is ten times better than the trash they came out with, they should straight up admit they were wrong and adopt your sculpt!
another trovarion vid? That mini looks so damn good... The amount of effort that went into creating it is crazy
Dude, this is insane. I never watch kitbash videos. I watched every god damned second of this one. This should have been the mini. Hands down.
One of your best works mate ... ant wait for you to paint it !!
Beautiful
*cough I mean, "insert fat guy on couch saying amateur meme".
That was epic, looking forward to the painting video!
I eagerly await your next video... where you paint this masterpiece.
That conversion is wild!
This is the content we love Chris for - first class.
He looks intimidating! What a great conversion!
God that is such a good conversion and a clever use of parts!
Stunning!!! 1000% better. Can't wait to see the painting
Is the eagle removable? It's a whole separate mini on that one
Fantastic job.
Sculpting is top notch.
You should be hired to teach the new sculptors at GW... Cause they can seem to get much right recently.
Great job! But holy moly, I was not ready for just how underwhelming that mini was. I know it’s not primaris but he looked 4ft tall before your conversion. Just got myself some Apoxie putty for the first time. Cant wait to get sculpting! I’m developing a space wolf inspired Stormcast army inspired by your space marine sponge painting videos.
Cool!
Your modelling skills are superb, man.
