I know this is a little bit after the fact but I do automotive restoration work and I have actually a way to have you paint adhere to the mini without all that sanding. When I've had to paint new plastic bumpers they come with mold release, you always wash it with a degreasing soap of some sort of course, but in the automotive world we have a thing called adhesion promoter. It's a clear spray that comes in a can and you spray it on the entire service of the object you are painting, you let it flash for 10-15 min then you hit it with primer. It creates a stronger mechanical bond between the plastic and paint preventing paint from falling off and ruining all your hard work. I hope this post helps someone else in the future save some time and energy when painting things that have mold release.
@@jamesmason7124 yeah dude, it's not often that the automotive world and mini world collides, but they do. It's always good to have extra knowledge in your back pocket for when you are backed into a corner.
