I think it’s funny that they copyright claim when so much of the early skateboarding industry was based on straight ripping off/lampooning/adopting/incorporating other people’s stuff/ideas/logos/etc and/or using music without permission/license.
@@UserUser-zc6fx Not really. The guy who requested a take down commented himself that he invested a lot of time, effort and his own money in order to capture those clips.
Well that's not how DMCA works. Clips can be shown legally when used under the guidelines of the DMCA act.
Aside from durability, what's next for decks? Is it specialty shapes like Andy Anderson's pro models?
I think there's room for more carve-ey hybrid street surf-meets-bowl or street surf-does-slappy-targeted trucks, and I could see wheelcuts eventually becoming the norm, but in terms of design, Kape's like 2nd or third generation Vanguard prototype with built-in ribs was the first really new thing I've seen in a while. Their most recent Vanguard prototype is the most hyped I've been for a board in years, mainly because I think I'll finally have a sog-proof/rain-proof board.
I don't see it happening for a long, long time, but eventually, I think someone will do an electric that is durable enough for street, which would open up some truly dumb stuff-spots with minimal run-up and no room for a tow-in or bungee.
Normally, I would think that would be too niche to catch on, but as the population as a whole gets more accustomed to seeing electrics as a viable option for short commutes, I could see that sort of thing eventually having enough crossover appeal to get made.
I don't skate anymore cause my knees are shot. But I do play disc golf, and one of the things manufacturers always try to do is reduce the weight of the inside (flight plate) of the disc, and increase the rate of the outside (rim) , to increase spin rate. Maybe some skateboard manufacturer will do something similiar by using very lightweight materials and with heavier stuff composite stuff on the sides to increase spin speed of tricks.
deluxe has a new shape called easy riders with the concave extending into the kicks and shorter wheel bases are trending up at the moment,
Lurpiv trucks have a anti wheel bite design and some other companies are doing inverted kingpins now which I can see being the future
What he said ^^. Inverted king pins. I just watched a vid about the new Indy's (new 3 years or so ago lol). I Haven't skated for like 15 years so I'm a few years behind the times lol. I had Grind Kings 20 years ago or more (I'm old lol) with the domed top and Allen key. But good to see with the Indy's you've got the option of Allen key and hex cause once ya ground the Allen key hole a bit they were impossible to tighten or take out. And Allen keys on anything just kinda suck in general lol. Did GK have the patent or something? I can't believe it's taken Indy this long and they weren't standard on every brand of truck years ago.🤷♂
That and I wish they offered more wheel base sizes. I have a 34 inseam and should be riding a 15+ wheel base.
I feel like maybe someone could do something with bearings? That might be one that is kind of perfect the way it is especially in terms of profit margins, on the other hand ball bearings have been phased out in favor of longer lasting, more efficient alternatives in a lot of other industries. Maybe something that is self lubricating? that could be cool.
That's a good point, I feel like we kind of reached a point with bearings and just said "eh, good enough" and never really bothered to try anything else.
Ceramics are meant to not require lubrication. Haven't tried but planning to.
10:57 Lol we got a funny guy here. Mr. "Hugh Jazz" LOL 🤣😂
It would be nice if they finally figured out how to effectively make skateboards/griptape that don’t rip your shoes without ruining your flick (Don’t mention rubber griptape)
Just don't use any
@@81casperflip No flick
@@claysoggyfries can't have both lol
@@81casperflip one day it’ll be posible
@@claysoggyfries I'm sure there's a way. But shoe companies would never let it pass. There's no money if shoes last forever unfortunately
For what it’s worth, people watch your channel for you. Sure I suppose it helps a bit but I don’t think grainy clips from 20-30 year ago will make or break the video. Maybe you could just link in the description without having footage
Are you going to watch the Olympics? Who are your favorites? 🍻
that's a good question for the Ask RadRat series, i'd think
Hey Aron, thanks for answering my questions! I remember submitting them and never getting the confirmation email, you might wanna check that because I thought the question hadn't gotten through and was a little bummed, but it made me really happy to see they did actually get to you. Love the content!
@@pedrotudoyt thanks for sending them! I'll take a look at that form tomorrow
This vid was in my recommendations so checked it out. Think I watched some of your retro rippers vids ages ago but then just forgot about the channel. But anyway I chucked ya a new sub. I'd like to see more retro rippers and even though using a small part of a vid for educational purposes doesn't breach copyright I get why they're damn near impossible for ya to do. 🤷♂
Ur drunk series is so good would love more
@@jaggs9000 I've got plans for that!
The retro rippers situation must be infuriating! getting copyrighted for those clips must be the equivalent of DMCA for music. Stuff like that stifles the creativity of content creators on RUclips! RUclips needs to have some sort of leniency for the strict guidelines they employ on here for the content creator's to be a more user friendly platform! strict guidelines like this will only deter creativity on here and god forbid turn to "RUMBLE"...
Doesn't work like that
RIP Retro Rippers!!!!😭😭😭
‼️
Retro Fart Rippers
I really like almost/dwindle/dsm boards, especially the impact ones
Hope to see you try Helskate soon!. Indy Thps style roguelite hack n slash
@@grantt4532 I've been keeping an eye on that one
@RadRatVideo sorry for spamming the last idk how many videos, but it's a dope indy team. Hope you enjoy if you do play it
that and the upcoming Skate Story from Devolver Digital. feels like there's another wave of skate related indie games coming up
around the corner
Hard flip and pop shove it didn’t work on landing sideways to catching the landing and style at the right time
Hey RR , I love the last part of this video where you leave the audience wondering what else can be done to improve the technology of skateboards. Get ready!!! El GK
Boards made from something stronger and grip tape made more durable along with shoes. Done.
Reinforced decks, wheels that don't flatspot, shoes that last longer what else is needed? I say nothing.
Aquaproof bearings !
I keep thinking but take games like cod and bf, its just run and shoot. Click heads and enemy dies. Skate could have been the same, new maps and story but in the end same game we always played.
Also could you beat Shingo from skate 1 in a game of skate irl?
No. Shingo God.
@@TheSultan1470 Shingo won SOTY every year 🤣
I really like the x97s but sometimes they slide when I don’t want them to
It’s crazy to me how so many videos of yours get taken down yet other channels are doing amazing because of copyright material
Skateboard airbags.
Retro rippers is my fav non video game series you had, really informed me about my fav skaters
But...
did it give birth...
to Ass Slappin', Gas Passin' Rodent?
Had Rat not started out with video gaming content, he may have never had videos reach into the hundreds of thousands. His most viewed video is of Skater XL, in fact.
@@TheSultan1470chad muska passed gas and slapped ass with paris hilton though
It can be crazy but still realistic. If tony hawk went realism after thps1 it would be a whole different game, so i feel like the way you approached the question was from the wrong angle.
session is a car, thps is a horse. is the indy logo racist?
Oughhhhhhh? Noooo
It's 2024, everything is racist so yes it's racist.
only if you have nothing better to do with your time than sit around and stare at a logo long enough to start to wonder about the racial implications of it.
