Thank you. I have a lot of long ones being researched right now. They take longer to research and put together so I am still going to have the short ones too. But be watching for some upcoming solid long form videos
Great to hear ,I look forward to ALL your videos each week,as a falconer it's always fun to learn new things and about other species I would never get a chance to work with
Great video Ben! I loved this. Something that anyone just interested in birds of prey can enjoy as muvh as the falconers do. Thanks for putting the time in doing your research and getting all the information in to a video. Got to say I didn't notice any dragging in your last video or indeed any videos since you got out of hospital. You know what signs your looking for when watching the video but whatever it is is not perceivable to me. And your kestrel drops the mouse and ruins Christmas video was absoliutely hilarious. I hope you have a good hogmany and new year. It's a pretty big deal here in Scotland. Lots of fireworks and festivities
wedge-tailed eagle! i want to edit to leave a longer comment, but i will briefly say: just incredible video. thank you so much for the work you put into this one. i look forward to rewatching it and sharing with my friends (read: forcing them to watch it with me)!
Wedged Tailed Eagle! Thank you for another awesome video Ben. So excited when you told us you got a video coming on the Aquila eagles back when you published the owl video. Have you worked with the Stephanoaetus coronatus, African Crowned? Love to hear some your point of view on them. Thanks Ben, Happy New Year, and Happy Hawking!!!!
I'd like to see videos on really interesting prey species like hyrax, from the point of view of their relationship with birds of prey. Kind of 1/3 prey, 1/3 predator, 1/3 evolutionary biology/phycology. I'm a birder not a falconer so I really like your insight into what the birds are thinking and their possible motivations. I think that is almost entirely overlooked by birders, who are so hyper focused on identification.
Wedge tailed eagle! thank you Ben. I knew nothing about falconering , but discovered you during the Covid shut down and haven't missed an episode since. Where I live now we have Ospreys. You introduced me to Kennon McLenden's book and a whole new world.
Great vid happy new year Ben from England.l have flown a Tawny Eagle Ben here in England and in 2025 will with luck be taking up a captive bred African Tawny Eagle from a breeder in the uk . I’ll keep you posted when I finally receive him.
Wedge Tailed Eagle Here in the scrub grassy hills of Northern California I see Golden Eagles hunting almost like Northern Harriers. The first one I've ever spotted crested over the top of a hill inches from the ground at an incredibly low rate of speed. I'm not sure whether they're predating cotton tails, jack rabbits or ground squirrels, curious if you have seen or have ideas on this. Also interested if you've seen the reports on carnivorous ground squirrels and thoughts on the biological implications of this. Your videos are a needed nurturing of my interest in the natural world, birds of prey being the pique. Anyways, thank you Ben and praying you continue to mend!
That is really cool! Hunting like carriers. I guess that is why Goldeneagle have colonized so much of the world. They are so adaptable and will change and adjust to whatever situation and landscape and pre-base they have. Very cool.
I really like the ornate hawk eagle very informative video and I always enjoy your RUclips. Don’t forget California hawking clubs having an event 2025 at lake topaz giddyup
Wedge tailed eagle. I couldn't imagine what it feels like to get footed by a goldie! I got the awesome opportunity to fly a male goldie last year for about an hour. It was amazing (and heavy!) even though we didn't find any game. If I had more access to land and quarry suitable for hawking a goldie, I would probably seriously consider putting in the work to obtain the license. There is a guy here in the states that lamps eagles on coyotes, I'd love to go see that. There's a couple videos on yt of him doing it.
Brilliant videos as always! I've worked with only one tawny eagle but she was a real character, her greatest skill unfortunately was biting your nipple and twisting if you weren't wearing a thick enough jacket 😅 unfortunately she passed away only a few months after I started work at that centre as she caught a rat that had been poisoned by a local farmer(wedgetailed eagle)
That’s wild that she keyed in on attacking such a vulnerable spot like that. She knew! Sad that she died. But I am glad you got some experience with her!
Wedge tailed eagle. As usual, great work. One thing d like to point out, is that while DNA doesn't lie, our interpretation of genetic test redults may. Furthermore, methods of testing may improve and results may differ in the future. I don't disagree, still, systematics are everchanging😁
wedge tail eagle.. unfortunately they're still persecuted here, I know of 2 cases in recent yrs here in Victoria. 400+ and 200+ poisoned by farmers.. some humans suck.. love the vid.. I was hoping to see our little eagle (Hieraatus Morphnoides) in there but I aint that up on the taxonomy..lol
Wedge tail eagle. Loved video.
WedgeTailed Eagle! Great video, thanks for doing this
