I just found your channel. I also have a trapping channel south of you in British Columbia. Like you, I caught mink in marten boxes in unexpected areas. Last 2 seasons only one per season and this year 4, all away from water?
I love your channel, it's raw and you do not cater to the woke - Thank God! Please keep the old ways and traditions going, they must not die. This country was built on trapping and the fur trade, and it propelled the new nations of Canada and the US to grow into the powerhouses that we are today. Again, thank you for keeping the great tradition of trapping going you big Kiwi!! 🇳🇿 🇺🇸
Great video. Right around the 17:58 mark there's something in the background that seems to get behind the spruce, peeks out, then tucks back in. Any ideas?

I don’t know how Alaska trappers get away with sifting snow over their traps. In the lower 48, sifted snow makes a hard crust over the trap. It obviously works up there. Maybe just a lot colder.
you do have to be careful how you do it as you certainly do get a crust forming, I don't mind a crust with wolverine footer sets as I want them to really stack some weight on the pan before it goes off. Im no expert by any means but I think if I can make them wrestle with the bait while on their hind feet they break the crust and set the footer off also with a lot off weight and get a nice deep catch. hope this makes sense.let me know if you have any good ideas. thanx bud
@@AdventureHuntsWorldwide I’ve seen other Alaska videos where snow is sifted. And you guys know way more than me. It has failed for me, but for animals lighter and less committed to the set. I have successfully slid the trap in from the side without disturbing the surface snow. Have also done this under existing tracks in situations where I know they are going to step in their track rather than make a new one. But I need a fence line or something to hide my own sign. It works. Snow is tough for me. You are never without it. I got nothing but respect for you guys up there.
