    Not 100% oil free as the plant butter is oil, but it is so minimal that it shouldn't be a problem. This looks amazing, and I am glad to see the authentic peas and rice combo here and not red beans being used.

    blessings! lovely dish queen!
    i'm going to try this. can i add the chickpeas uncooked (soaked overnight) to the curry mix (ginger and garlic) or does it have to be cooked first THEN add it to the curry mix ?
    Love!

    • @AuthenticPlantbasedEats
      @AuthenticPlantbasedEats  3 года назад

      Although the chickpeas can be eaten when soak, for this recipe it’s better to cook because it will be too hard. So cook it first then add everything else. It can take a while to cook especially if not soak overnight.

      @@AuthenticPlantbasedEats yes that is what I was thinking too we have some Caribbean markets but havent really been inside them in a while. And we have MANY African markets too. I usually shop there at times I will be more on the look out for them.i wanna try them. The curried chickpeas I have bought from a Trini restaurant and they were GUD fi tru!!!! But I get discouraged sometimes trying to cook this stuff at home because it doesn't have the flavor. I limit my salt intake so I'll trying to find flavors without all the salt....most dishes I try lack the flavor in the food.amd I LOVE Caribbean food. Was married to Jamaican men that cooked and I loved eating the food still do. But I will try. Thank you for the posts. They Are motivating me to try and cook them.

      @@GNQ78 no need to limit salt intake if you use real salt like pink himalayan or celtic. Not saying to overdo it but the body does need real salt and it does bring out the natural flavors in food. 😍

      Clearly it said oil free coconut curry chickpea & Pumpkin. Coconut does produce natural oil which is minimal in this recipe. So maybe I needed was to elaborate more...( Minimal oil) Not necessary. I could have use actual coconut oil... However common sense tells me that this coconut curry has no added/process oil.
      I’m not sure if it said oil free rice and Gungo peas so please tell me.

    • @phyllisgordon6577
      @phyllisgordon6577 3 года назад

      I won't quibble over whether it was natural or processed oil. But I maintain it was not oil-free. I am sure it was delicious though. Great job of maintaining a vegan lifestyle. God bless you.

      By the way what kind of pumpkin did you use ?I was also wondering why you cubed the pumpkin so big is that because of even cooking of easier plating?

    How long did the peas take to cook initially? Never done it before but was wondering if the additional half hour of cooking would make it too soft.
