One thing I've noticed when I ride is that some of the best riders ride super motos. My friends back home started racing on dirt bikes and when they transitioned to street riding they understand counter steering more than the average street rider.I own 3 bikes a 2009 Ducati Monster 1100,a 2015 Triumph Speed Triple 1050,and a 2016 Yamaha R1.The Ducati is the most fun because great center of gravity and no aggresive rider input necessary when taking corners.
But you don’t counter steer on a street bike unless you’re riding a super motorcycle or enduro.....everyone is "I used to ride dirt bikes" that’s the most unqualified answer. Riding a dirt bike compared to a street bike are totally different, unless like I said before, that you’re riding a super moto or enduro/ dual sport style bike. Even when I ride my supermoto I don’t ride it like a dirt bike. I lean into every corner. If you counter steer in a corner you’re surely going down
You are going into a blind double curve at 30mph (about 48kph)! Should you not slow down and enter at a cautious/safe speed just in case: there's an accident, or a stopped vehicle, or any other unpredictable road hazard that you might not be able to stop for in time?
yup. never speed into blind corners. came around a blind corner once to see a van parking perpendicular covering my entire lane, with oncoming traffic in the oncoming lane. another time came around a blind corner to find oncoming traffic in the other lane and a large couch that fell out of someone's truck covering my entire lane. also came around a blind corner to find the road covered in gravel from a truck that lost part of its load
@@dumbcat "Safety never killed anyone." I drove around the wide, circular curve of an acceleration lane that leads onto the highway when I had to slow down for a stopped tractor trailer in the lane. Just moments before, a fellow motorcyclist had plowed into the left lower corner of the trailer going at a high speed, trying to avoid the trailer--unsuccessfully--and had left a bloody splat with his helmeted head. His body and bike were underneath that corner covered by a tarp. The local news only mentioned that "a motorcyclist had died in an onramp accident". That shook me up badly for many days afterwards because that could easily have been me. After that, I conciously decided never to speed in the city. Period.
Man ! I felt like I want to ride the tail of the dragon for the second time. I have never ridden it . Right? But this is the second time I felt like I want to ride the dragon .
Consider when and why those speed limits were originally implemented. Even modern cars can safely exceed that and not pose a crash risk like cars in the 1940’s and 50’s would
@@Treizez34 The speed limit was 55 up until 1992. It was dropped to 40 then to 30 when TN and NC got tired of cleaning up dead bodies from the side of the road. It has nothing to do with quality of vehicles, just the immaturity of riders.
@@jeffrielley920 well I won’t argue there are a lot of people who don’t understand the concepts of grip and braking, most certainly. Also why I believe we need a tiered licensing structure in this country for bikes like in Europe
That place is so insane, and so much fun all rolled into one!
Where be it?
Looks a bit like the Black Spur in Victoria.300plus corners in about 13 klms.
All those corners......Enough to drive you around the bend....
