- Hi Guys!!!
In this video, you will see one of my best kept secrets about engraving pictures in wood, on this video we are using bamboo cutting boards but it works pretty much in any type of wood, finished wood and even unfinished wood, just be careful when working unfinished wood.
You will see that the best results are achieved by giving 2 passes, the first one will remove the lacquer and will create a lot of ashes on top of the engraved area while the second pass will define the contrast and fixes the ashes against the wood again, lastly the water will dissolve the ashes and the stain penetrate the wood staining it permanently.
Let's take a look so you can see how I did it, as usual, let me know what you think in the comments and also write down any other tricks you may know to achieve similar results
thanks a lot

I wish I could like this more than once! The water trick was so awesome. The first picture I did on wood I made only 1 pass and was disappointed. I did the second pass on the next one and it helped so much. Thanks again!
I’ll be using this technique for sure. Thanks for sharing these great tips.
sure and please share your experience, thanks
outstanding work as usual
Thank you for sharing, those look very good.
thanks for your support
Great job, big difference doing a second pass 👍👍👍
right, at the begining I was wondering how to make it darker, I even thought about paint but nope a second pass was the solution
Thank you for sharing your engraving secrets, I hope you have lots more.
Great video.5*
yes I have plenty more, and little by little I will tell them all, if you have suggestions or requests for future video let me know ;)
@@LaserManiaOfficial Thats fantastic news, I'm already looking forward to seeing them.
I personally have a diode laser system but I am also making myself familliar with CO2 lasers systems such as yours so that when I eventually upgrade then I'll hit the ground running. Keep up with the great videos.
I just received my 100w laser and have been disappointed by most of the RUclips laser content. Your channel is fantastic! Keep it up!!!
Thanks a lot, yes we will publish more soon

I’ve laser engraved on various types of wood. The problem I have is the smudging when I rub my fingers over the very dark areas. I’ve sprayed with a clear acrylic which didn’t help much. I then used a bamboo cutting board. This resisted smudging very well. I tried engraving on bamboo board, the smudging reoccurred but not as bad as other boards. Spraying with acrylic helped to some extent. The nice thing about the bamboo board is that the grain is relatively fine. The bad thing is that the image isn’t uniform due to the composite nature of its construction, which I can live with. I’d like to improve on the smudge resistance. Any advice?
which softwere use plz share the detils of softerwere or detils of makking
Just stumbled onto your channel, hope to see more content
we will publish more, no worries
Ive been using lasers for 20 yrs and still learn tips from other operators
Would it damage the picture if i spray water on it to see if it needs another pass and if so hitt it again after it has dried? Instead of doin 2 passes
Thnx from the Netherlands
you are welcome, one day I will travel over there ;)
Which material do you use and how many types of mdf you your and wood which type of wood you use please tell
The bamboo has lots of stripping because of the many pieces that are glued together and have different grains and shades to begin with.
How do i prepare a photo to engrafe on the computer on coraldraw
Can you please make a video showing how you converted your picture for engraving. I just can't get it right. Thanks!
My friend wants me to engrave something on his picnic table. I'm not sure how to account for the space/gap between the boards. Please help!
Hello sir how to set picture for engraving on acrilyc
Are you going to make a video on how you process photos for engraving. I really like your videos and how you present them
I will do it, thanks for the idea
How long did take to engrave?
Good job
Thanks, it is fun, I love laser machines
Hi can you recommend me an economical laser engraving machine to engrave in cutting boards things like photos , signatures, advertising?
The best I can recommend is a Camfive machine, they are tough, good quality and will pay for themselves before you know it. They have different products from hobby to industrial lasers so you can choose what adapts better to your needs
Great video! Can you recommend a cheaper laser engraving machine for a small gift shop business? I look forward to make personalized wood gifts such as bamboo tumblers..
OM Tech 50w CO2 laser
Talk to a local laser shop first. So much cheaper to just pay someone for repeat work. We contract out all the time for that reason
wonder if the first pass burns through the protective coating, the second pass doesn't have to deal with the coating
EXACTLY, the coating must be removed first, I see you are smart
I have 40 wat how i do in it wht matarial i use in it and what speed and power plz tell brother
Try 75% max with 40 watt laser on bamboo.
Pass through, black and white. 10-12mm.
For a faster processing time you can try 7mm. although it may not be as detailed.
How can I learn this in person it's difficult to learn the settings of the computer when you are not computer servey thanks
I had taken computer classes at the public library, I had taken photoshop, drawing and microsoft, maybe that is a good resource for you too
@@LaserManiaOfficial okay thanks good info
Have you tried doing the second pass left to right instead of top to bottom?
I have, it does good results too, the only downside is that takes almost double engraving in Y than engraving in X, that is because the rail is heavier and requires more effort and time for the laser to engrave that way
Why run it twice instead of more power in one shot?
please make a video in processing image as that is also very important
I will, no worries
@@LaserManiaOfficial have you made this video? I can't find it.
Show how you get a picture ready 👍
yes, I will do a video showing that in photoshop, do you engrave pictures in wood too?
sorry, shared this secret in a bosslaser user group. ;-) you might get a spike in views. :-)
that is fine, I was just playing when I said it is a secret ;)
I am glad you like the video
whats not consistent all the way isnt the bamboo its that engraving of yours
