Miss Evancho has an Angelic bell tone voice. it is crystal clear, pure , exquisite, unique and intoxicating. The sound goes directly to the pleasure center of the brain and is why so many love her voice and are moved to tears when they hear her sing. It may well be the most beautiful sound in the history of recorded music.
She sang this so beautifully that I actually totally fell in love with it. She and her voice are from out of this world. We are so blessed that we were here to watch one of. If not the greatest performer evolve right before our eyes. Thank you God for giving us this gift.
I agree, it's very difficult to put into words the soulful and purity of sound that Ms Evancho can give any song. Her high notes reach a level that is unfamiliar to many listeners, it's not operatic but so close that it becomes unique in it's own way. I enjoy listening to her and support her music.
Never heard her voice described as thick but I know what you're getting at. The timbre of her voice was intoxicating as a child and I am hoping that she will bring the same experience to us when she is now in her early 20's. For me it's too soon to tell. I have heard glimpses of that special magic on her new "Both Sides Now." Fingers crossed for Jackie and for us as her fans.

It is the scene (avaiilabe on you tube) from "Brassed Off" when Danny the ,leader of the colliery band is in hospital and slowly dying from asbestosis. The band assembled.es on the grass outside his ward window and plays this to him. It made me cry

I am a member of Jackie's fan club, her voice is a perfect one for crossover, she has moved away slightly from pure opera and it suits her voice better. There is another version of this that is magical, it appears in a film made for BBC called "Brassed Off" and tells the story of a colliery band whose colliery has been axed. The music from that film is as haunting as anything you will hear. If ever you have 90 minutes or so to spare (I know that may have to wait many years) do watch it, it is simply beautiful and very human.
You have a 100 year old song from the British isles, beloved by millions, recorded by hundreds, if not thousands of singers. And then a 10 (TEN!) year old American girl comes along & sings the most beautiful version ever. How is that even possible?

MichiKent, i know you have a massive list to wade through but I have just had a massive shock I was asked to listen to a song called "The Voice" (nothing to do with the TV programme) sung by a young woman Gabrielle Portelli. To say I almost stopped breathing is no exaggeration. Her voice is so pure and delicate.

At this time in Jackie's career her voice was like honey and warm, melted butter.

Hard to realize Jackie was only 10 years old and the only time she sang it. Never recorded it on a CD. unreal !!!

She was 10, she recorded this in Calif. with David Foster.
She did some great stuff with him. IMHO, her voice and phrasing was at its best when she was 10-12 years of age.
