    Jackie has set the standard for many young girl's. Since 2010, there have been more and more young women, not just young girl's trying to break through just like Jackie and have come close but what helped Jackie succeed is her voice 100%, her personality 100%, determination 100%, poise 100%, attitude 100% and her face 500%, that's 1000%. Who can compare anyone to that? Oh, I forgot her family support, can't measure that, it's through the roof.

    Not many in America are accustomed to a more diverse selection of music but I believe Ms. Evancho has introduced us to music we're unfamiliar with and her voice seems to capture the deep beauty by her unique sound. I've been hooked from the beginning and enjoy all of her music. It's been a pleasure to support her talent.

    She brings tears to my eyes also, and I am not known to tear up at most music. She and her voice are both maturing gracefully and beautifully. The first time I heard her was on America's Got Talent by accident. I was flipping through the channels and stopped enthralled by her performance, and wish I had heard it from the beginning. I made sure to catch America's got talent for the rest of that season, and I have not watched it since. The main reason she got second instead of first was supposedly due to her age and a concern for her ability to handle fame and fortune. I do not remember who got first place and as far as I know he has faded from view, whereas her star continues to rise. I feel honored to live in a time where I can listen to the likes of Jackie Evancho, Amira Willighagen and Connie Talbot. In one of the CD's she put out she reprised her performance of pie Jesu at a later age, it still has the power to bring me to tears.

    Love your reactions! So genuine and heartfelt...keep up the great job! Don't apologize for crying, it's called "THE JACKIE EFFECT" and millions of her fans around the world have experienced this phenomenon. She has one of those 'once-in-a-generation ' Bel-Canto, lyric soprano voices that come along and stun/amaze all who hear her. Look into her career to date and see for yourself the stunning accomplishments of this angel in her brief 18 years! NEVER been done before...enjoy and blessings to you.

    Interesting. I've been on a hiatus listening to Jackie for awhile. Several months of classic 20's jazz and pop, classic guitar, Ian & Sylvia folk etc.etc.etc... A day ago I dedicated eyes, ears and heart to Jackie oldies-but-goodies. A marathon of them. What startled me about it was that I teared up, choked up and OMG'd at the same Jackie songs I always have since I first heard her. No matter how it's analyzed or attempted to be rationally explained or denied, take it from one with a very eclectic taste in music, there really is such a thing as .... "The Jackie Effect", and as the young lady in that interesting video is discovering right in front of many. Of all the music and all the artists I've listened to, enjoyed and loved over a very long lifetime, none have "effected" me the way Jackie does; no matter how beautiful and inspiring the voice, performance, or composition.

      Ian and Sylvia! Me too. I go away for awhile, come back and I get the same Jackie Effect all over again. I discovered her in 2012. Shortly after getting her first albums, I sat and marathon-watched for a number of hours. My loving wife finally asked, "Are you okay? You've been sitting and crying there for hours." We fans have a name for your reaction: The Jackie Evancho Effect. Jaw drops, eyes get bigger, forget to breathe, throat chokes up, transfixed, the world goes away, shaking head in disbelief. . . oh, and tears in eyes! It happens a lot! Then: Ombra Mai Fu (either NPR version or Dream with Me in Concert--both at 10 or 11 years old). Now: How Great Thou Art (religious) or Attesa from the Two Hearts Album -- age 17. They all show the pure beauty of her voice.

    Certainly there are many child talents who showed themselves, here and there, on different style of singing. But she has personality that is still holding up without being shaken by fame phenomena, which is most astonishing to this day to me ( don't tell her that because most people 95% cannot take praises ) as I noted (observed) her since 2014. Her personality can be heard through her color (tone) of voice.

    I had a similar reaction the first time I heard her sing. Saw her on TV when she was 12 and was so impressed I just had to do more research on you tube. Spent the entire day at the computer blubbering like an old fool. Have been lucky enough to get to 2 of her concerts since and hoping before my time is up to see a few more. Her best publicity comes from her fans. Now that you are included in that number I hope you will pass along the knowledge of this incredible gift to the world... Jackie Marie Evancho. Her anonymity has to end. The world needs to hear this now young lady's voice. Wear out you tube..

      Well she won't go to Europe, the mecca of Classical music. She has, or used to have, hundreds of thousands of fans there. Now, Amira and that other young Classical singer have pretty much taken over the youth market for Classical music. A shame. :( But Jackie can still make her mark there like she did in Asia. Her voice is just so much better than the others.

    I discovered Jackie about 11 years ago on RUclips before she was even on AGT and I was like you. She was so jaw droppingly good that not only did I cry, I did something I'd never done before, and never done for an artist of any type, since. I contributed a fairly major (for me anyway) sum of money, to her indiegogo fund raiser.
    Her voice hasn't really "improved" tremendously because you can't improve on perfection! 😁 But her versatility and performing abilities continue to improve.

      I'm 74 and "Danny Boy" has been a favorite of mine since childhood. I have actively searched for every recording and performance of it I can find anywhere, including RUclips. In my opinion Jackie did it best. Amazingly she only has sung it ONCE, and only then because David Forster pushed her to record it when they were recording the songs for her "Dream With Me" album while Jackie was still 10 years old.
      Long story short, the song touched Jackie so deeply that she could not bring herself to sing it, but David really wanted to get it recorded and more or less insisted on it. So to get it done, he needed to drop one verse and reword a couple of other verses, and then he and Jackie recorded it. Side note Jackie's mother was NOT happy about David pushing Jackie as he did. But the result is a Masterpiece for the Ages.

    Jackie has had about one year of vocal training. From 10 t0 11 years old. Don't know if she has had any since but she should have. She is an wonderful singer with the purest voice have I have ever heard. She holds several records since releasing her first EP at the age of 10 years old and is at the early stages if working on her 8th studio album. Some of her early songs to check out would be Danny Boy, Angel, Nella Fantasia, Dark Waltz ,All I Ask of You, Music of the Night, Se, Can you Feel the Love Tonight, Reflection and What A Wonderful World. Jackue never disappoint' s.

    I am so happy that Jackie got to see and hear your reaction. Mine is the same. Jackie talks about how people are so amazed to hear such a mature sound out of a child. I was amazed by her voice. If I had closed my eyes, I would have still been weeping at the beauty that I heard. Since Jackie, I have heard a couple of new singers who astound me with their talent. There is one Russian soprano who I compare to Amelita Galli-Curci who sang in the beginning of the 20th century. But no one can touch me the way that Jackie touches all who hear her. You are correct. I too get lost in her voice. Have you noticed that she has a warmth in her voice that I have not heard from any other performer?

Now with her maturity and still humble grace becoming anything she sings... and letting us be a part of the magic she feels for each piece... Now along with Bravo's and Wow's and Way to Go Evancho.. I can only add one word with hopes that she might sing another for our hungry hearts yearning to hear heavens song... and it is a resounding ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE.... EVERMORE !!!!

    Wonderful reaction. 'Caruso" (about the Italian opera singer), written by Lucio Dalla, is a story of the pain and longings of a man who is about to die while he is looking into the eyes of a girl who was very dear to him. I think she interprets that perfectly with what I would call "soft power" and a certain innate sensitivity to what she imagines to be the emotion of a dying man. I would not be as convinced by a more dynamic and powerful performance representing a man taking his last breaths. I think listeners are often more impressed with exaggerated vocal prowess than with what is an appropriate interpretation. And, Jackie's interpretations have always been appropriate, in my opinion, particularly this song which she performs with finesse.

    First about Jackie, She finished 2nd, but has now gone on to world fame. She has been through some bad times because she firstly supported her sister who was her brother and was transgender. She received some vile comments then by a small group of bigots. Then she sang at the National Anthem at Trump's inauguration, clearly stating that it was the National Anthem she was singing and the event, not that she was supporting Donald Trump, however she still received much hate mail for this. She also sang for Obama twice when he was president. Jackie has become possibly the finest crossover singer there is. You also asked if there are others you should do this comparison to, that's a great idea because your reactions are so high quality. May I suggest two. Both girls. Amira Willighagen from when she was 9 on Hollands Got Talent to now singing 4 years on Amazing Grace or Your Love, last autumn in South Africa. And then our own Connie Talbot from her audition on BGT at 6 years old to her wonderful original and emotional tribute to her late teacher Good To Me at 16 (she was 17 last November).

      Les, what a load of poop. Jackie received very little hate from her conservative fan base over her sister. She received huge amounts of hate from the so tolerate leftist over her decision to sing the National Anthem. Her and Trump are friends and it was a specific request from Trump himself to sing at the inauguration. She had to change the narrative of why she was performing because all of the death threats from the SJW's!

      I don't know what world you are in, she is busier than ever, is more popular than she has been for over a year and is selling out every one of her gigs. She has lost some of the more brain dead fans both because of her stand on Transgender rights and because she sang at the inauguration but she really doesn't need fans like that. She is also beginning to be noticed more outside the US than before and is also moving more into crossover than the straight opera style she previously performed, and I think it suits her better.,
      .

    • @lescox8667
      @lescox8667 6 лет назад +4

      So you are calling her a liar. She herself made it perfectly clear that her decision had absolutely nothing to do with politics. Otherwise why did she sing for Obama TWICE. She has made it clear she wants to sing for every president throughout her career. As for your comment about the "little hate" from HER conservative fan base. You have a very short memory sir, she received threats and all manner of vile drivel mainly from the lunatic bible belt of bigots, so called Christians. To me that shows why the right is so twisted, they have to read politics into everything. This girl is A political.
      i adore this girl I think she is the finest crossover singer there is and I am an extreme left wing socialist and I am also a person who regards Trump as a racist, sexist and down right liar. So stop trying to claim this girl is part of the Republican right wing SHE IS NOT and she would certainly regard that label as a direct insult on her integrity which you are trying to destroy. If a Democrat wins the next election I expect her to sing for him/her with the same enthusiasm. She sang for the office, her country, her anthem, her flag, not for a damned politician.
      .

    • @lescox8667
      @lescox8667 6 лет назад +3

      Don't just blame an element on the left, I adore Jackie but I am on the extreme left of politics and despise everything that DT stands for. So stop tarnishing everyone with the same brush, The conservative trump camp are also to blame because some, not all, tried to use Jackie's involvement in the inauguration as an endorsement of DT, which it was not, unless you are calling her a liar. For either side to use this girl for their own political ends stinks like the poo you mentioned. She has made it clear she is not friend or enemy to Trump. Using her this way is equally as bad as the nutters on the left. There seems to be a bigoted nature to the American psyche that cannot accept innocence and truth from a person and has to twist what they say for political ends. She has strong views, much of which she keeps to herself, those that she has made public all concern human rights, fairness to minorities etc such as transgender rights etc;. Certainly not views shared by your President.

    Yup, she had you at 1:50, barely a half dozen notes into the song. The invisible Evanchoian Spider's bite works very fast. You and many others (including me) are now musical slaves, happily, to this heavenly voice. Our duty is to listen to her constantly, buy all of her music and make a few pilgrimages to her concerts. We also buy extra CDs and give them to our friends and prattle on about her voice, life experiences etc. We look, read and listen to every scrap of information and gossip and have few other singers or performers that we listen to. The reason is that Jackie sets such a high standard that few can exist in the rarified air that she lives in. We start to listen to other singers performing the same pieces and after a short time we turn off the TV talent show or performance and go back to Jackie's heavenly voice. Yes the Evanchoian spider bite lasts a long time, most likely a lifetime.

    Jackie is a generational talent, Stunning at age 10 and a consummate professional at 18. She has yet to hit that one song that will carry her voice around the world to all people. Her live concerts are spell binding. You can compare her to the very best of the last 50 years and she will amaze you all the more. My favorite tune by Jackie is Nella Fantasia. Listen to it on the Dream with Me in Concert DVD in high definition with surround sound. After listening to it once, I wrote the Chairman of Columbia/Sony Music and said listen to this kid, she is the best I have ever heard. I am not sure if she was or was not signed at that point but for sure he listened.

    Queen here are two songs. The first is Nessun Dorma. This performance was on the Britain's Got Talent show in August 2011. She was 11 years old; ruclips.net/video/5bJa0yuTVRs/видео.html
    This one shows her high range better than your video of Caruso(BTW she sings Caruso in Italian); ruclips.net/video/hz-UEskITzg/видео.html
    Jacki may have lost some of her high range(she had three octaves in her AGT performance when she was 10) but she is still a Bel Canto Soprano. If you listen carefully you'll hear a pronounced difference in her vibrato from Nessun Dorma to 'Your Love'.
    To demonstrate her beautiful new vibrato, here is my all time(so far) fav duet. This is from her Longwood, NJ concert. She was 14 years old; ruclips.net/video/ZTq2xumtXnE/видео.html. Oh BTW what do you think of her gown/dress? I think it's stunning.

    Here is the translation to Jackie's second song... Caruso
    ONLY the VERY BEST can perform it... Listen to it again with the translation at hand...
    English Lyrics: Caruso
    "Here where the sea sparkles,
    and a strong wind blows,
    on an old terrace overlooking the gulf of Sorrento,
    a man holds a little girl in his arms
    after he's been crying.
    He clears his throat and sings the song again.
    I love you so much;
    so very much, you know.
    It's a bond, now,
    you know, that thaws the blood in the veins.
    He looked at the lights, out at sea,
    and thought about the nights in America.
    But they were only the lamps of fishing boats
    and the white of wake.
    He felt the pain of the music.
    He got up from the piano,
    but when he saw the moon come out from behind the clouds
    death seemed sweeter to him.
    He looked into the little girl's eyes -
    those eyes as green as the sea,
    then suddenly a tear fell
    and he thought he was drowning.
    I love you so much;
    so very much, you know.
    It's a bond, now,
    you know, and it thaws the blood in the veins.
    The power of opera!
    where every drama is a sham;
    where, with a little bit of make-up and mimicry,
    you can become someone else.
    But two eyes that look at you,
    so close and so real,
    make you forget the script,
    confounding your thoughts.
    And so everything became insignificant,
    including the nights in America.
    You look back and see your life
    like the wake [of the boats].
    Ah yes! Life is ending,
    but he wasn't worried about it any more.
    Instead he felt happy
    and began to sing the song again.
    I love you so much;
    so very much, you know.
    It's a bond, now,
    you know, that thaws the blood in the veins."

    Jackie Evancho is still to me the most talented singer I've ever heard. I was lucky enough to get to see her 3 times in concert a few years ago. Here are some of my favorite Jackie Evancho videos. They would be great for you to react to.
    "Lovers" from her first PBS special in 2010. This was just a few months after she competed on AGT. The song is from the "House of Flying Daggers" soundtrack and this video has subtitles. Her performance will give you chills.

    "Nessun Dorma". A year after she competed on AGT she came back to the show to give another performance during the season finale. Her performance on one of the most difficult songs to sing was absolutely perfect.
