    I went without sugar for like 1 month. Lost like 12 pounds and cleared all my acne. However, my doctor did tell me that I needed to start eating a little sugar because I was kind of also cutting out other important nutrients. So now, occasionally, I eat some sugar but not like I used to and have never felt better! Basically the only sugar I eat regularly is fruit.

      Maybe you stopped eating fruits? Because you can eat fruits and honey (natural honey!) processed sugar isn't necessary, that is a myth, you can get energy out of other types of sugar/ carbohydrates

    • @babethebuilder1

      Lucie Fink and that's all that a normal honest person could ask of you! Your honesty is so refreshing. So many people say they appreciate honesty, yet when they get it, they nitpick everything you say! And this comment just makes me think of what Jesus said to the crowd who was about to stone the adulteress! Those witout sin cast thy first stone! I've found sooooo many "doctors", "scientists", "philosophers", "counselors", "cooks", "perfect vegans" "beauty gurus", "writers", "politicians", "singers", "artists" , etc on RUclips while reading the comments section(obviously I'm being sarcastic here). Everyone all of a sudden is an authority on something, or holds a visual Ph.D. On SOMETHING In their mind, and is the guru of SOMETHING on here! No matter what the topic, what the subject matter is at hand in the video and it doesn't even have to be ABOUT the subject IN the video, but the subject of the comment, people will bicker and argue and be the Wikipedia of anything! The sole educator! ! But yet most of these people are downright liars, or are stretching the truth so thin that you can't even remember what the truth is anymore. They judge And pick apart EVERYTHING, yet they aren't in the persons shoes to be able to condemn them! You're doing JUST fine LUCIE!! And I'm in love with this channel now! I've binge watched about fifty freaking videos this week alone of yours! Starting with the bullet journal video, bc that's what led me to finding your channel! I love bullet journaling and I have so many supplies and journals that RUclips And Instagram says are the "essentials"to have for bujoing and planning (and in addition to four journals for bullet journaling, but I also have two happy planners, two target dollar spot self made binder planners, several books for art journaling, junk journaling and about fifteen regular journal notebooks! And I haven't stuck with or started any of them!) For a year I think I had supplied being delivered every day from Amazon prime! And that's not even what I spent at hobby lobby, Michael's, target, Walmart, dollar stores or joann fabrics! And I'm intimidated by all these beautiful, thought out, creative and crafty, perfect hand lettered journals that I bought sticker sets for thanksgiving and Halloween and Xmas for my happy planner and then never got around to use them so that's money down the drain! So I get where your coming from when you say you had a hard time sticking with it on that one! And alot of the challenges you do you couldn't stick with bc they contradict each other! Like the 5 days of living a hygge life style and 5 days without sugar! So there's no way you completely keep the lessons and apply them to everyday life for each video you do. I dont know if people think of that but if they don't, well.. Now they have. I love your videos, they help us and you do the work first so we know, and you take each challenge And learn something or take away something from each one! Great work Lucie!
      PS. I'm not trying to be a bish to the original commenter (andrea Marcos), I'm putting my opinion and perspective out there of, don't throw stones when you live in a glass house and that there's no way to keep to every challenge as many contradict previous challenges she's done guys! Have a great day to ALL of you! Have a pizza-ful day! You know.. Peaceful and pizza full!? Lol

    I'm at 15 months without sugar. It is amazing. You are not at all exaggerating when you say that sugar is in everything. It is even in spices. And we wonder why Americans are overweight -- sugar is everywhere. Look at this graph to see the staggering stats! We must remove sugar from our diets to improve our health. Thanks for the awareness on this.

      YES...I had a friend who went on a no sugar (processed sugar) lifestyle. Within two months, she had lost 25 pounds! It really opened my eyes and I started checking every label of the foods I eat to see how much sugar it contained. After cutting down on my sugar intake, I began to realize just addicted I used to be to it- it was my cigarette to a smoker.

I've already done a lot of the major ones like coffee, swearing, sugar, and other habits so for the months I have left I'm picking things up instead, like breakfast every day (I never have breakfast) or reading daily for an hour (I never read anymore) to fill in the rest of the year :)

    I love the ideas of these videos but I don't like the format. Like, she skipped the entire Monday of this challenge! I wish it were more vlog style instead of her sitting on her bed talking about the day before and inserting some scripted footage. Don't get me wrong, I love me some Lucy Fink, I want to be her best friend....but I do think the format of these challenges needs to be updated.

      @Sandyyyyyyyyyy 8 лет назад +18

      Agreed. I started to notice a few weeks ago that Monday was pretty much skipped over. Watching this video I also wonder if she had her regular morning coffee Monday through Wednesday as she only mentioned making the switch on Thursday. I'd hope research for this video was done before the week started rather than how the video is presented. I want to see the struggle at the cocktail bar, declining candy from coworkers, the breakfast she had each morning.
      I'd love it if there were some clips of Lucy going about her day (in this case, eating sweets) then her boss walks up and explains the challenge. Lucy would then walk us through her research and the changes.

  • @katrinawall4315
    @katrinawall4315 8 лет назад +4

    The hangover thing is probably partially from sugar. Not really a sugar crash tho. But sugar (and caffeine for the matter) actually makes you more dehydrated because it makes you go to the bathroom more and hangovers are mainly caused by dehydration, but can be stopped by having a glass of water between each drink.

  • @alimurphy2365
    @alimurphy2365 8 лет назад +4

    I'm so proud of you!!! Quite frankly, before watching this, my guess was that you wouldn't have done well with this particular 5 day challenge, so, BRAVO! I gave up sugar for the 40 days of Lent this year. That included honey, which has a high glycemic index, and coconut palm sugar, which actually has a low glycemic index and is my usual go to. I didn't use any sugar substitutes, either. (Yuck! Fake sugar is poison! It tastes terrible and makes me feel worse.) No processed food, because there are a lot of hidden sugars in that. I didn't eat out for the most part, because it was easier for me to stick to my regime. I did eat some raw fruits everyday, though. No one can tell me fruit isn't good for me! I need the fiber and the nutrients. It went well. I felt better. Now, I notice how genuinely crappy I feel when I eat refined sugar, how tired and bloated I become. It's a big learning lesson. I definitely can't get away with the bad habits I had when I was 23. The older I get, the more I realize I have to make an effort to live a healthy lifestyle, so my life has both quality and quantity.

      Well I live that life everyday bc I have various health issues, like fibromyalgia (everything hurts everyday. Even your hair seems to hurt on certain days! And many others with this syndrome have concurred with t that.) So I like to be comfortable in any other area that I CAN bc of all the pain and fatigue and memory issues I have! And I have gerd, think acid reflux, so a bra pushing on the area between my breasts for some odd reason makes swallowing and digesting food hard or my gerd act up! So I have went two to three years now of only wearing a bra when I have to leave my house. And bc I have two children, gravity has definitely happened! And bc I don't wear a bra to hold them up, and having temperature issues bc of fibro, I get hot and sweat and there's no air flow to dry you out and sometimes you can't exactly dry them yourself bc you're in public or wherever and the sweat is stuck there between your breasts and the skin underneath and then you get sores underneath. I've even had infected small pimples and cyst like blemishes that never fully heal. . So if you CAN wear a bra and have these issues, wear it. If you don't have kids and they don't sag and you don't have hot flashes that make you sweat something horrible, then by all means you do you! I'm just adding my two cents for us ladies in similar situations.

      I've spend most of my life very unhealthy. My breaking point was when I hit 230 lbs. First thing I did was cut out sugar and drink more water. Now I go to the gym and pay way more attention to my diet. I've hit my first goal of losing 30 lbs. my next goal is another 30 lbs.

      what is the difference between raw honey and pasterurized? im pretty curious!! i had raw honey before and the taste was really weird

      t rex someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe raw is basically honey from the hive without any changes. Pasteurized is heated, so it takes away all the good nutrients out of the honey. I would google it just to be sure

    I'm always challenging myself to go sugar free. As a kid my mother raised me that way so it's easy for me to do. I've done three weeks challenges since July, breaking for holidays or vacations. I've decided to try 30 days of 95-100 % sugar free meals. So far biggest change is an increase in effectiveness during my work outs. Really glad that there are people like you willing to change their life style to make more positive choices. Love your video!

      +That Vegan Metalhead Actually the nature of a ketogenic diet means the person would have very steady energy level and blood sugar. When you eat sugar, bread, pasta, etc your blood sugar spikes, then insulin spikes, the blood sugar crashes and your tired and hungry.
      Most extreme endurance athletes have found that a High Fat / Low Carb diet and being Ketogenically adapted gives them an advantage because they can store more energy as fat than as glucose.
      People who Carb Load "hit the wall" when their glycogen runs out while a keto athlete can keep going 2 or 3 times longer. Which is why Ultra Marathon runners tend to be keto.
      Ketogenic diets are no match in sprints, but for endurance they are superior.

    I cut off on sugar around 4 months ago and I must admit it changed my food choices drastically. Now when I fancy something sweet I eat one cube of chocolate and I am done. My body is more avare of the taste and doesn't need more. Plus weight drop. That's a deal breaker when it comes to sugar.

    This video is so important!
    Since I can remember I always have had a sweet tooth, I prefer dessert over food ANYDAY and I have always thought this was just a preference but in fact I was kind of sick. I'm not a diabetic, but my body doesn't process insulin well, so my sugar levels were all over the place and that was the reason I was always craving sugar! Now, thanks to my nutritionist, I have a pretty healthy eating plan and thanks to that the risk of becoming a diabetic was less than a year ago.
    The reason I think this is so important is because we are so used to eating anything that is "in front" of use without thinking what cause that to your body, and we are so used to sugar and we think we can't live without it when in fact all the sugar we need it can easily be found in fruits. Of course I occasionally eat a red velvet cup cake or a chocolate bar, but I don´t do it everyday like I used to.
    At the end, we need to take care of our bodies, this is the only place we get to live in for the rest of our lives.

      Alexis McEnroe 2 days after I posted this my legs started to feel weak and I nearly passed out while lying down. So I don't recommend that anyone completely cut out sugar. Something helpful to know: 1 teaspoon of sugar is 4 grams. American Heart Association recommends daily sugar intake for Men (37.5 grams or 9 teaspoons) and Women (25 grams or 6 teaspoons). Most people would be exceeding their daily recommended intake before the end of breakfast. Something to keep in mind if you're reading labels to try and cut back on sugar.

    Fructose and sucrose is broken down slightly differently in your body, but the thing that matters the most in terms of "natural" sugar is whether or not it comes with fiber. It does in fruit, which mitigates some of the harmful effects.

    I had the same epiphany about oatmeal (aka porridge)! I used to have the little sugary devil packets until I realised there's so much sugar in them AND it was cheaper to just buy a pack of oats, heat 'em up with milk and then just spoon on some honey. Much cheaper, much healthier, and only naturally occurring sugars hanging out in there. I keep an eye on my sugar intake nowadays, and I'm always proud of myself for finding snacks I like with naturally occurring sugar rather than processed.
