It's such a damn shame too, because this game was fresh and REALLY nice. Hell, we ran a tournament recently for this where a lot of people were surprised this even existed and actually liked it! The PC version of this game has a nice community mod Restitched which not only rebalances some characters (Mako a much needed change) but also has a few nice QoL stuff too. ) But timing (and a huge lack of marketing) killed this off, sadly.
I remember being so excited for this game when it was announced and playing it back when the demo first dropped. It’s sad how nobody really played the game and as someone who got really into this game I can definitely say it was up their with one of the best arena fighters and was actually pretty complex. I literally just bought the game since it was like $4.99 during Christmas but sadly it seems like servers shut down 😔
if done right I would love to see a studio trigger fighting game. Imagine a game in the style of Dragon Ball FighterZ or Guilty Gear but with all the studio trigger characters and flare.

But these people have the most unreasonable demands and when you fail to do something that's nearly impossible to do or falls outside of your expertise you get shouted at like you did something wrong. It's infuriating.
Thank you for highlighting another HUGE anime, obscure game situation. I really loved the look and the way they translated the art to a 3d style despite personally. I'm the only person who still has this installed on their PS5. Game was amazing. Lack of content is true though. Bloody Valor was great IMO. It's not easy to land and it's not easy to get to Lv3 to get that insta kill. It basically brought in the "Luck" aspect to a game based around skill and knowing your character. It made every match fun for me. Trigger were being douchebags, nothing more. Look at DragonBall FighterZ. Arc Sys cooked a masterpiece. I really wanna see the initial game they made for Kill La Kill that was rejected

I bought this game for 1.99 on the Nintendo e shop I don’t ever buy a game that doesn’t have a long story mode or has online but it was a good game to play on a 7 hour car ride for $2 i really like the flashy attacks which is the only reason I turn it on
The small character roster was what really did it in for me (I still got it eventually, but I had waited until there was a big price drop). Ryuko and Satsuki had unlockable alternate versions (that were different from the story mode exclusive versions you mentioned) so that brings it up to 12 with DLC, but every base roster character had at least 1 potential alternate version (possibly more for some of them), plus there were several memorable villains of the week that could’ve made for fun characters as well. It’s disheartening to hear about the production woes, as that’s likely what killed the game’s chances to get those extra characters, as well as more robust game modes. Hopefully something can come along that takes inspiration from the gameplay, but with a better production line.
Unfortunately kill la kill just doesn't have enough characters or at least ones people would actually play Now a Studio Trigger crossover fighter with Gurren Lagann and others... THAT could work...
@@cronch9136 well, using my ideas the roster could’ve been a respectable (for a traditional fighting game) 22 characters (admittedly with a lot of duplicate characters, but they’d have unique enough movesets at least). That said, a Trigger crossover does sound really fun. Sadly this game’s failure means it’d probably never happen.
One important piece of context. I love KLK but was still disappointed when the game was announced, because at that time, ArcSys was also adding a bunch of new crossover characters to Blazblue Cross Tag Battle, a game i was already playing and heavily invested in, and adding KLK to that would have been amazing. Instead, their KLK teasing ended up being unrelated. But hey, bbtag got Heart Aino, an even cooler addition with how unique she plays.
anime fighting game communities actually learn to play fighting games, while sites like ign rarely have reviewers who know anything about learning fighting games, so their opions hold no weight. The fact that this game has competitive tournaments shows something KLK hardly had any characters, so it's hard to have a bigger roster, and it's generally harder to have big rosters in fighting games, where all characters play different, and they have to try to somewhat balance them. compared to normal arena fighters where you can just slap a different skin on a character. But I never actually learned how to play this game properly. it had some big problems though: -only 2 player lobbies, you cannot run a regular rotational lobby like most fighting games these days, and its a bitch to try to run tournaments, and stream them with commentators. -had to go thru story mode to unlock versus mode, and characters
There's another factor i think you forgot to mention that held that game back is that at launch it costed 60$ for such a small scale game therefore it didn't have a lot of players at launch. it also got price drops twice from 60$ to 40$ to 20$

I was also a lover of this game but the unbalance is what killed me. Short story mode ? Yes but lack of content ? The game has like 4 game modes and that’s enough, more than dbz fighterz and demon slayer. There is few characters because the source material (anime) doesnt have that many fighters. The game was pretty much doomed to fail. The in-depth game play only really appealed to one group of people, hardcore arena fighter fans. The casuals can’t grasp the complexity so they write it off. 2d fighting game fans enjoy seeing more complexity, but would rather just play an actual fighting game. Not to mention the game released 6 YEARS after the show came out. At that point the only people still thinking about Klk were the die hard fans of the show.
I'll give you that last one, but If is just Storm, but you're encouraged to press more buttons than just Attack. The combo system ain't that deep, and there the Internet to help you do them.
Something tells me the HxH fighting game will be a disaster that you'll end up making a video for
The PC port sucks major ass, the performance is inexcusable and the hitboxes are a joke. The mod doesn't fix perfance issues, i still had framerate issues, i'm running the game on an RTX 3080.
....oh
Can you do a video of the absolute ripoff from Extreme Gundam Versus : Alice Gear Aegis Concerto of Strimx?
Hi
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH
FUCK IT IS!!! THIS IS A FUN GAME I REALLY LIKE!!
Except everyone around me hate it So Much, I had to play it alone until the Final Boss (the first final boss was Bad, then 2nd was Really Good!)
Even the Story is Fun (in Japanese)
Would anyone want a *remake* of the Kill La Kill series?

If the characters wore clothes it be a better game

Also, only 3 (4) people Wear Revealing Clothes

Thats literally the whole point of the anime
Man it’s just another bad arena fighter
