All the marketing got me to try it the first week it released and I've been having a blast. Been fortunate enough to gotten the characters I've wanted but Corin continues to be my favorite. I'm curious to see where it goes from here given the cliffhanger at the end of Tour de Inferno, but I'm also curious about Soldier 11's origins and the similarities she has with Anby.

Can't wait for Miyabi to come save my second team but the day another Void Hunter shows up will be a good day, their lore teaser video is one of the lore drops that really piqued my interest in this game.
I agree, although I did wait until about a month of playing it everyday before I picked it up. It's not bottomless like the monochrome and it gives me a little more value for already playing the game.
yeah the only things I'd ever consider purchasing in zzz are the monthly pass and interknot, everything else is so low value in comparison I would have to not care about money

I really get that impression. There's attention to detail that just wouldn't be there otherwise. It doesn't feel like it's just checking the minimum boxes just trying to keep me around to spend money.
I jumped on ZZZ at launch, and it's been my first and still only gacha game. FYI, gachapon machines (aka capsule machines) are named after the sound they make after you turn the handle. I've been having a blast with it. I haven't had a lot of gaming time lately, so it suits me well. The anime style is right up my alley, the gameplay is exactly the kind of game I enjoy, and the animation and character designs are fun. I would love to see some lore and story videos. We have plenty of content creators covering the gameplay and mechanics and leaks and all that, but not very much on the lore and speculation side. It would be a good area to focus in on, if you're interested in that.
Noted! It's on my to-do list to find a real life Gacha machine somewhere. But I'm in the US so I don't think there are many around here. I've got plans for some lore videos! One of the reasons I wanted to start making videos about the game is to talk about it's lore because the questions I have run deep and I agree there aren't many videos out there discussing it. We're still in the discovery phase of the story but I'm hooked and can't wait to find out what's really going on here.
@catchableorphan in the US, the closest to a gacha machine would be those quarter machine toy depensers you see in grocery stores and some older restaurants. Not quite the same thing, but close enough to get the idea.

I’m really enjoying the game too. The combat just feels so good. And when you get the hang of it and start doing your own (crazy fast) rotations, oh boy. My brain fries with dopamine.
This is my first Hoyo game so hearing that is exciting. When it's done well, stories written that way hit way harder imo. Anyone who's watched the tv show Scrubs knows how well the contrast between comedy and drama can be used to tell great stories.
I think we're starting to see hints of it in the reveal of more of the twins' backstory at the end of the most recent patch. I used to play World of Warcraft which was obviously written expansion-by-expansion: write a big story arc, then go back to the drawing board to work out the next story arc. Hoyo games, as far as I know, have their entire several-year-long main plot written in advance, which gives them a lot of room to set things up for a future pay-off.

It is the most high production value mobile game in the market it is tethering into a twilight zone where is almost a proper full desktop game, trying to play this in a touchscreen is hell and not only that only high end phones can run this game decently enough to keep with the peace. It is a shame that people from the other two hoyoverse games (genshin and star rail) don't seem very keen on this game despite really being the one with the best art direction and the best storytelling of all their games.
I've seen a few people say as much, but the game is really good at it's core and I really think it's just going to pickup it's own audience over time. Some crowds seem to really hesitate due to the "Gacha" but after playing Destiny for so long and having to pay for all the story content I can't help but feel I'm getting better value over here and I think people will slowly realize that.
Some of my friends played all the others gachas from mihoyo and i hate it, but my friend showed me the trailer and the ost from the game, the esthetics and music and character and combat all of that made me want to play it, and every update the lore get more and more exciting, at least in my opinion and prbly 90% of the reason i still play it is because of billy :D
I never thought there would be a game I enjoy this much that has a "Blockbuster store owner simulator" in it lol I guess I am also a sucker for the 90's nostalgia. Also the sound tracks are absolute bangers. It really feels like this game was made with love.
I too missed the launch window for this game and now I’m playing it like crazy it’s so freakin cool I think I’m gonna buy the battle pass to and look at it like paying a subscription for an mmo because I actually enjoy it and playing the trials of the characters is good enough for me atm
There are definitely a lot of upsides to starting the game a bit late. All the story content they've added, all the game modes, quality of life stuff. It also kinda insulates you from the fomo when new agents come out since you already don't have all of them it's easier to pass on one if you are a low spend player. The battle pass is pretty good value, I picked it up since I've been playing so much. I don't think I would recommend the version with the bonus xp though, if you play a lot you'll finish a battle pass well before the next one starts 👍
Dude I had a similar experience. Saw the trailers way back and really liked them they had alot of personality in them but then I completely forgot about the game and missed the release. Rediscovered it after finding the Burnice music video and now I'm really enjoying the game, it doesn't feel free to play for me even, just finished ch 1. I was worried about the difficulty (not challenging enough) and content level later on but after seeing this I am no longer worried, good video man ! 👍

To feel at home I recommend standing at the edge of Scott's Outpost and overlooking the Travle...erm I mean Hollow Zero, the most important giant spherical object in our protagonists life that we collectively know little about but has something to do with collapse of our society... (not a dig at either game, I just can't help but see parallels after playing Destiny for 10+ years lol)
Hoyoverse seems to respect it's lore so don't worry about retcons, I mean, I had the skeleton for like 7 years of the Genshin Impact story from the beginning, and they have had plenty of experience with their Honkai series of games.
That's something that gives me a lot of confidence in the game, this isn't their first rodeo. It is nice to hear that they follow through with their lore, spending so much time on Destiny over the years you don't even realize how low your expectations get and Zenless has been a real refreshment in that regard.
Hey yo, happy to see another Disney player that moved into zzz. Not flexing, but I have 4000 hours on D2, and that made my childhood. Such a fun game and some friends I made and moved away from along the way. I have played ZZZ almost since the day it was released same as D2. And I’m personally enjoying. The ballerina twins boss white is the best in my opinion and the soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal. I would love to talk to you about it more , because there’s so much to say. Also, if you haven’t gotten this piece of advice. Make sure to build characters that you like and get characters that can improve your team , and not get characters that would require you spending more money to get a new team. Glad to hear another ex-destiny player fell into the same rabbit hole as me haha. I've been playing Zenless since around the end of July and it has become my daily routine now. One of my favorite things about it is that it only takes maybe 10 minutes a day to spend all my energy and do my dailies, so it doesn't ask for a lot of time each day. Weeklies don't take terribly long either once you're leveled up. I can usually do my Hollow Zero runs in under an hour and notorious hunts in about 15 minutes. I ended up spending on the Membership and battle pass but haven't needed to spend more beyond that. Game is somewhat generous with weekly events and free pulls every patch. Looking forward to a lot of the upcoming characters and the new Story we're getting for 1.3 today!
Good to hear you are enjoying the game. I've been interested since the initial trailers a couple of years ago and been playing day one. A lot of gacha game talk gets mired in the character fandom and banner/exclusive stuff but I really like the general world building this game has done so far, the music is excellent, the character design and animation is great with solid personalities to fit. The combat is exceptional, and works well with the team building. It really is a full package, and I find myself disappointed whenever I reach the end of the latest patch and finally wring the content and limited end-game content dry because I want play more lol. Next patch sounds like there will be new end game stuff which is exciting. Hope you keep on truckin'!
One theory I have about the moon is that somehow the hollow disaster is an extraterrestrial catastrophic event where it doesn't just happened on Eridu or earth in that fact, but moons and planets too, which means, likely other celestial bodies either half-way corrupted just like the moon or fully corrupted because there's no one to supress it's corruption, so yeah, pretty crazy apocalyptic scenario if it's true.
Also a player who tried ZZZ late (2 months later), and I'm here primarily for Von Lycaon. Got him so early in the Prologue at the 20th pull, and will be making this account specifically for him to be involved in almost all combats. Currently taking my sweet time on my way towards the Victoria Housekeeping chapter, so no spoilers. Since I really loved the 1st chapter with all the drama of Nekomata, and then later Koleda's story being heartwrenching, I hope Chapter 3 will be just as good. Subscribed to you hoping to see more ZZZ videos, especially relating to character stories and worldbuilding lore. They're really juicy so far!
Great Video! I play multiple gachas and imo you pretty much nailed it. One aspekt I kinda missed (but you might not be aware of since its your first gacha) is, that playing these games means ideally daily grinds. The games are designed to keep you playing regularly and/or spend money. This also means that, once you are done with your daily/weekly/event/patch routines, there is not that much content: At a certain point it might become a side game. To me ZZZ was a pretty easy sell since I'm playing Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail too. I feel like the gameplay is targeted for a wider audience, which leads people into gachas without them knowing they're in for a gacha and what that means. Much love, tho! I love to see people finding our beloved games
The longer I play and the more details we get about the world (especially the ending of the most recent chapter) the higher on my list this game climbs. I do really like how it respects my time, I don't have to put in 4hrs a day to keep up with everything in the game. Which is what a lot of other live services feel like imo. I've heard people talk about the way character's are collected as the "Gacha" part of the game but are there other aspects that usually accompany it that makes it more so?
I agree with everything you've said. I do also like that each character has different playstyles so it's not like every character plays the same. You have to learn how to use each one. Then I was also surprised and relieved that unlike Destiny 2, this game is not multiplayer. So i'm not competing against sweatlords but rather talking with my friends about how my build is going with encouragement behind the words rather than trying to tear everyone else down to build yourself up.
I too played destiny 2 from start to forsaken then witch queen onwards but have always played other games and was familiar with gachas and mihoyo. A friend recommended me try ZZZ before it had come out and the ost from their website sold me. The vibes ost, story gameplay and general fun cast and atmosphere are whats keeping me around, it's what makes me more n more excited for the future of this game. Plus, the fact that dailies are super simple
my first hoyo game that stuck for more than a day, not really into the open world of Genshin and the space theme of Star Rail despite being a sucker for turn-based RPG. The combat reeled me in so fast, and Zhu Yuan made me stay.
i rarely stick around in gacha games but if i do like the game i usually bought the monthly gems or pass or both to support the dev and ZZZ is one of them.
That's similar to my philosophy. If I'm enjoying the game and I feel like the people making it really are putting their heart into something they care about I'm happy to spend some money. Games can only be free to play if someone pays for it and I'm happy to contribute to keep good games going.
So glad I saw this, I'm also just chilling and enjoying the game for what it is and not spending too much, first gacha game I've committed to playing and so far it's been great. The weird thing for me is seeing a lot of negativity around it, but that mostly seems to be from people that play too many other gachas and even though I didn't commit to Genshin impact I remember there was similar negativity around that as well so yeah...I'm going to keep enjoying the characters, story and gameplay and hope you will too!
Hey! Welcome to the community! If you are interested in games with long running narratives, I’d suggest you try out Hoyoverse’s other games like Genshin and Star Rail. A lot of the systems are similar so there isn’t much of a learning curve (using materials to level up characters and weapons, the gacha system, etc…). If you do, I recommend looking into which 4 star characters are the go to’s. Some of them are really strong and can carry you through the whole story without swiping. 👍

I thought I wouldn't like this game much because the setting is modern time (I've always been a sucker of fantasy setting more than scifi futuristic modern time setting) and it's also not open world. I'm glad I still tried this game out, because I love it. It's now one of the 3 main games that I play regularly. What got me hooked? The tv presenter with the potty mouth lmao. He's hilarious, and it gives me indication of the direction of the story, and I like where it goes. I also always love parry-based combats (Sekiro is my favorite soulslike game), so ZZZ checks that box. I vibe with the ost, the retro style, the comic book part, and the animation is chef's kiss so fun to watch. I'm only occasionally buying the monthly sub (so far I've bought 2 months and already got Ellen Joe + weapon, Qingyi + weapon, Rina + 2 weapons, Koleda, Caesar, Grace, Lycaon's weapon,), because I agree with what you're saying about spending too much will diminish the value of the game. It made the game into easy mode and it will no longer be as fun. Why would I pay to make the game not fun? Clearing Withering Garden with 11 debuffs and max corruption without being a whale is so satisfying. Ben carried my team ngl, his weapon is cracked, holeee. And about retcon, I have faith in Hoyo, because if Genshin Impact is an indication, they do seem to always have finished making the framework for the main storyline way before they started making the game. AND the owners/CEOs of the company are the OG devs, not shareholders, since it's not a public company, so it puts my mind at ease that they won't sacrifice quality to appease shareholders. (Btw if you like open world fantasy setting with classical music ost combined with traditional instruments and rock, Genshin is pretty solid. And it's as cheerful but dark underneath as well.) My next target banner is Lighter's. Because, have you heard his English voice? Oh my. Oh me oh my. Oh wow.
Man! You hit the nail on the head. I also started late and missed the first few banners, but there is a lot of game in ZZZ. The story is an absolute blast and hopefully we’re just getting started. I got lucky with my pulls and managed to pull Jane, Ceasar and Burnice with no spend. Miracles do happen.

welcome aboard! The game is really fun and from the dev interviews I can tell that they really treat this game like their child. Honestly the biggest tip I can give for gacha games is pacing yourself for sure. Coming from Destiny I'm sure you've had your fair share of content droughts or burnout from playing and I think hoyo games are a lot more susceptible to this since there's no multiplayer (hopefully the new tower mode alleviates this more but tbh they already have a bunch of post-game modes). Keeping in mind that live-service games are more of a marathon rather than a sprint will help a looot in pacing yourself for the long-term. (also be aware that the limited characters are always trying to make you think that you need it due to their damage or utility so make sure to be objective and pull wisely (favourites are exceptions of course!)) Don't worry about the story! Hoyo games treat their characters and stories good and I'm sure that we're not even coming close to the full picture.
game is fun. It can be played relaxable like daily quest to be done in 5min. Very engaging with its intense battle and story telling. Character are well design, i wanted every character but my wallet have limit. Game is very F2P friendly, but can be very expensive if u fall into gacha mind trap. Overall this is my only game from hoyoverse and i rated it highly
Hoyo uses "Soft pity" where basically the last 15 (in other cases other numbers) pulls have increasingly higher chance to give S until the last one hits 100%, so basically once you hit "75 pity" (75 rolls in) you should technically do single pulls to minimize waste. It doesn't matter as much as long as you single pull the last 10
Hoyoverse games are great in that way that you can enjoy all the content, its quality and there is a lot of it, like Genshins main story at this point is like 70-80 hours long, Hoyoverse also gets better with time, quality goes up the more comfy and experienced they are. Also if you are interested in lore, I reccomend Ashikai, she does zzz lore stuff . I reccomend you give other hoyo games a try, like Honkai star rail (a turn based rpg) and Genshin Impact (Open world adventure fantasy type)
Destiny... All I can say destiny is more than just a video game to me. I play ZZZ too and I am glad you are enjoying it, that's a super healthy mindset! Let the gacha whales carry the development cost.
Destiny meant a lot to me too. I stood in line for 12hrs to pick it up from Gamestop back when that was still a thing, I feel a lot of the same excitement for the mystery and world of Zenless and that kinda worries me sometimes. But it helps to know that Hoyo seem to know how to run a successful game with at least a cohesive story. So I'm here for the ride 😎
Been playing ZZZ since day one. I had some moments that I kinda want to drop it since I'm also playing HSR (Another hoyo gacha game) and I was not entirely sure if committing to two gachas would be a good usage of my time. However, its just really fun and I've gotten really attached to the characters in the story, particularly the MCs as they are not just hollow husk characters or self-inserts but have their own personalities and that 1.2 story ending just got me into really going in for the long-haul at least storywise. I have two well-functioning team that helps me clear Shiyu every reset (Clearing just so I can get those sweet sweet polychrome rewards), but I'am looking to set up a new team for elemental coverage and the upcoming character Yanagi would fit in that team, so hopefully I can win my 50/50 to get her.
Hi! Saw this video recommended to me and as someone who used to play Destiny 1 and 2 I thought I’d give it a look to see someone else’s perspective! Thanks for sharing and as a low spender myself (buying battle pass and 5 dollar pass at most) I personally think this is the best way to play if you have the means. You still practice patience in saving resources but you get a bit more flexibility than a straight up F2P player. As someone who’s been in both sides (F2P and being a whale in Genshin Impact) I personally found the low spender life is the most comfortable and fun. Anyway I’m glad you’re enjoying the game and I absolutely share the same sentiments regarding the story and its characters and looking forward to more! By the way, what characters are you saving for and are you looking to pick up Miyabi? I myself am looking forward to Lighter and Miyabi!
fyi with burnice if you do want to have her on field and be dodging with her, you can use her single flamethrower ex to dodge with movement, it looks super cool. burnice and piper together is great if you've managed to pull her, soldier 11 should be good enough with like nicole (Nicole is goated so its nice everyone has her) or caesar and qingyi and you can have burnice piper lucy on second team. and yeah i also play just assuming I'm going to not get s ranks early and that I'll lose every 50/50 and even then i don't feel like I'm missing out on too many characters.
I love the characters in this game and the drip marketing really hypes me up to grind for forthcoming units. I have Koleda, Grace, Rina, Ceasar and Burnice. I lean heavy on Piper for DMG. This game is F2P friendly but you have to skip characters to keep F2P.
This is one of the first Gacha Games I started to put some money on (mainly because I now have a wage 🤣). I have a couple of recommendations and tips from my experience on the different Gachas that I’ve played, hope they prove useful to a couple of you viewers/players: 1- The game is a bit fast on releasing new characters and it certainly is difficult for a F2P to get all the characters/weapons (even low spend/players wait on the reruns, don’t worry). It is bearable I believe, what I would recommend in this regard is to think wisely on who you want/will pull and mainly focus on getting characters, not weapons, some weapons are cool additions to the characters but there is/will be options to pair them with and be good for them. 2- If you are wanting to use some money in the game I would recommend to buy the Proxy Subscription/Battle Pass (Forgot the name ✨) and the Monthly Subscription (300 + 90 polychromes a day). Other than that I would not spend any money as I believe everything else is straight up a scam which you won’t get a lot of value from. 3- Use all of your Polychromes on the Limited Banner. The game content does give you a decent amount of Master Tapes so be patient… you’ll eventually get there… (300 pull character selection 😖) 4- Check out for the Signal Shop monthly (5 Encrypted Tapes/5 Master Tapes/5 Boopons + Permanent Weapons and 4*’s). 5- Do your dailies, events, log-in, and content. 6- Don’t look down on your 4*’s as they will most probably occupy 1 or 2 slots on your team (for the foreseeable future) and all of them are able to clear out the main content, more or less (I’ve leveled up 15 Characters to lvl. 50 pls help 😖). 7- This is a young game so… Enjoy your time in it, give it some time to cook, and answer your surveys as the creators/team behind of this game do listen to feedback! Sorry for all the text 👊🏻😔, I hope it helps someone.

I understand the sentiment on not playing or trying gacha games, but recent ones coming out have fun gameplay and don't require you to spend to clear all the content. If you have good control of your finances, get a good understanding of the mechanics and characters you have, and do enough gear grinding you'll be fine.

I got into ZZZ because I love the art direction and character designs, retro 80/90s pop-punk feel. I didn’t expect the sci-fi narrative to develop as well as it has, early on it felt like it would end up a generic mission battler with forgettable characters . That said, I’m at 100% completion of all the content to this date, and the latest patches have been disappointing. Little more than side stories and character intros, lacking a lot of the charm and development the base game chapters (0-3) had. The recent commissions offered pretty weak gameplay without advancing the plot at all. The devs now seem to be going away from TV-mode to satisfy some over-magnified criticism from content creators (and have stated as much) and I worry a bit for the future of the game. If patch 1.3 and 1.4 aren’t closer to the base game in polish, gameplay and depth, ZZZ might be losing its direction…a bit like Destiny did. I truly hope not, because I love that ZZZ style, but I’ve seen it before.
the biggest value as low spender is for sure the interknot membership and not the the paid BP also the BP starts losing value the longer you play, since you start to drown in most resources it offers anyway at some point. e.g. in HSR i bought the paid BP every months for the first year... after that i only bought it every other months and still have enough of everything, probably switching to buying it only every 3 months soon(ish). so as low spender i would say: get the monthly membership for sure, buy the BP early in the games life span with the option to drop it later without really noticing it
I appreciate the insight. This is my first Hoyo game so I don't have experience from their other games to draw on. I still don't have two full teams built so I'm definitely in need of the extra resources at this point. I'll keep in mind though to audit the value after a time. I like the battle pass for the extra resources and the fact it's not bottomless. But I could see not needing it after getting all my agents tuned just right.

Brother, its so refreshing to find a channel that doesn't mention about tits and ass I every other sentence. I mean I love tits and ass as much as the next guy but some of these channels are super cringe. I also love the concept of this world, the characters are interesting and thats what keeps me playing. There are so many interesting story threads, like fairy and the other a.i., the conspiracy behind Palmer etc. Can't wait to see where this is going. Btw its also my first gacha game, I had no idea what I'm getting my self into, so I spent all my free starting polychrome on the black and white tapes. I was to lazy to inform myself on what I'm doing and I had no idea that I'll actually start to love the game so I have to live with that decision XD
i noticed in your gameplay footage that you don't use burnice's charged attack and just do normals, you should probably give the charged attacks a try they are better

The game is good but too short, so in the end it becomes a game of challenging u to break ur own records and train to be stronger and faster in the content, but it's still fun, and I guess that's the way gachas work, I play mmorpg and zzz is my first and probably only gacha :P. About characters, mainly focused on Yanagi atm and will surely go for Miyabi, I like active characters, I have qingyi, jane doe, Ellen Joe, and would like to pull for lighter but he came out on a so bad moment, so I will have to skip him
I've been playing gacha games since 2018 and destiny since house of wolves (dropped after final shape)... Ever since genshin impact released, I've been comparing bungie and mihoyo a lot (d2 and genshin were my main games) and let me tell you the way mhy treats its games is infinitely more respectful than whatever the fuck bungie does with destiny. Funnily enough I'm much more keen on dropping money in genshin/zzz than buying destiny expansions because at least they doesn't shove adds in my face all the time or try to nickel and dime me for every little piece of content. I have a lot of other grievances with d2 but I'll spare you the details haha... Mihoyo on the other hand has my full trust and I would honestly expect great stuff from ZZZ team. They've already shown a lot dedication to the game and talent. I'm just praying they don't lose their way and game's identity, listening to loud minority of the community (tv mode situation had me worrying). If you want something to watch during lunch break: Ashikai has some great theory and lore videos on ZZZ. I especially loved the latest one. There's a surprising amount of lore and hints toward possible future plot point already in game! She usually does genshin content but she's committed to some zzz vids.
If I wanted to give you advice, it would be not to spend a lot of money on characters. just play the new events it will give you a lot of currency for the gacha
ZZZ is all the best parts of genshin. Genshin has a lot of free content as well, but it’s so slow and the weekly and monthly routine isn’t worth the squeeze. I dropped Genshin to play d2. One thing I like about ZZZ is that is seems like it’s a great game to make content for? A lot of the presskit material and gameplay is just so bombastic. It makes for great visuals as you talk about the game.
After playing ZZZ I did try Honkai Star Rails to see if there was anything I was missing, but no, there isn’t. Star Rails is a turn based game with WAY too much dialogue, like Honkai levels of dialogue. About half of the dialogue is obtuse poetry. And the other half is scifi nonsense. ZZZ hits the perfect amount of story with a nostalgic setting. Do I miss the seasonal stories of d2, yes. But ZZZ does a great job filling that hole in my heart. I will say I got back into genshin after 3 years away and skipped ahead in the storyline, similar to how you can do that in Destiny. The story has gotten a lot better and is a great spectacle but it’s still slow compared to zzz

All the marketing got me to try it the first week it released and I've been having a blast.

I jumped on ZZZ at launch, and it's been my first and still only gacha game. FYI, gachapon machines (aka capsule machines) are named after the sound they make after you turn the handle.
I've been having a blast with it. I haven't had a lot of gaming time lately, so it suits me well. The anime style is right up my alley, the gameplay is exactly the kind of game I enjoy, and the animation and character designs are fun.
I would love to see some lore and story videos. We have plenty of content creators covering the gameplay and mechanics and leaks and all that, but not very much on the lore and speculation side. It would be a good area to focus in on, if you're interested in that.

I've got plans for some lore videos! One of the reasons I wanted to start making videos about the game is to talk about it's lore because the questions I have run deep and I agree there aren't many videos out there discussing it. We're still in the discovery phase of the story but I'm hooked and can't wait to find out what's really going on here.

This is my first Hoyo game so hearing that is exciting. When it's done well, stories written that way hit way harder imo. Anyone who's watched the tv show Scrubs knows how well the contrast between comedy and drama can be used to tell great stories.
I think we're starting to see hints of it in the reveal of more of the twins' backstory at the end of the most recent patch.
I used to play World of Warcraft which was obviously written expansion-by-expansion: write a big story arc, then go back to the drawing board to work out the next story arc. Hoyo games, as far as I know, have their entire several-year-long main plot written in advance, which gives them a lot of room to set things up for a future pay-off.

I downloaded this game on a whim and it's legit been my favorite game of the year. No joke.
I really hesitated to click the launch button at the beginning but I'm so glad I did
It is the most high production value mobile game in the market it is tethering into a twilight zone where is almost a proper full desktop game, trying to play this in a touchscreen is hell and not only that only high end phones can run this game decently enough to keep with the peace. It is a shame that people from the other two hoyoverse games (genshin and star rail) don't seem very keen on this game despite really being the one with the best art direction and the best storytelling of all their games.
I've seen a few people say as much, but the game is really good at it's core and I really think it's just going to pickup it's own audience over time. Some crowds seem to really hesitate due to the "Gacha" but after playing Destiny for so long and having to pay for all the story content I can't help but feel I'm getting better value over here and I think people will slowly realize that.
Some of my friends played all the others gachas from mihoyo and i hate it, but my friend showed me the trailer and the ost from the game, the esthetics and music and character and combat all of that made me want to play it, and every update the lore get more and more exciting, at least in my opinion and prbly 90% of the reason i still play it is because of billy :D
I never thought there would be a game I enjoy this much that has a "Blockbuster store owner simulator" in it lol I guess I am also a sucker for the 90's nostalgia. Also the sound tracks are absolute bangers. It really feels like this game was made with love.

I too missed the launch window for this game and now I’m playing it like crazy it’s so freakin cool I think I’m gonna buy the battle pass to and look at it like paying a subscription for an mmo because I actually enjoy it and playing the trials of the characters is good enough for me atm
There are definitely a lot of upsides to starting the game a bit late. All the story content they've added, all the game modes, quality of life stuff. It also kinda insulates you from the fomo when new agents come out since you already don't have all of them it's easier to pass on one if you are a low spend player.
The battle pass is pretty good value, I picked it up since I've been playing so much. I don't think I would recommend the version with the bonus xp though, if you play a lot you'll finish a battle pass well before the next one starts 👍
Dude I had a similar experience. Saw the trailers way back and really liked them they had alot of personality in them but then I completely forgot about the game and missed the release. Rediscovered it after finding the Burnice music video and now I'm really enjoying the game, it doesn't feel free to play for me even, just finished ch 1.
I was worried about the difficulty (not challenging enough) and content level later on but after seeing this I am no longer worried, good video man ! 👍

The story doesn't feel like an after thought like other free to play games I've played. Hell I've played $60 games with much weaker story lines and it's one of the pleasant surprises Zenless hit me with. Especially things that happen after we meet Victoria Housekeeping, but I won't spoil it for you 🤫 lol

To feel at home I recommend standing at the edge of Scott's Outpost and overlooking the Travle...erm I mean Hollow Zero, the most important giant spherical object in our protagonists life that we collectively know little about but has something to do with collapse of our society...

Hoyoverse seems to respect it's lore so don't worry about retcons, I mean, I had the skeleton for like 7 years of the Genshin Impact story from the beginning, and they have had plenty of experience with their Honkai series of games.
That's something that gives me a lot of confidence in the game, this isn't their first rodeo. It is nice to hear that they follow through with their lore, spending so much time on Destiny over the years you don't even realize how low your expectations get and Zenless has been a real refreshment in that regard.

Not flexing, but I have 4000 hours on D2, and that made my childhood. Such a fun game and some friends I made and moved away from along the way.
I have played ZZZ almost since the day it was released same as D2. And I’m personally enjoying. The ballerina twins boss white is the best in my opinion and the soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal.
I would love to talk to you about it more , because there’s so much to say. Also, if you haven’t gotten this piece of advice.
Make sure to build characters that you like and get characters that can improve your team , and not get characters that would require you spending more money to get a new team.

ZZZ characters is what made me play the game, but the combat is what made me stay, such a fun gameplay with a very interesting lore and story.
Glad to hear another ex-destiny player fell into the same rabbit hole as me haha. I've been playing Zenless since around the end of July and it has become my daily routine now.
One of my favorite things about it is that it only takes maybe 10 minutes a day to spend all my energy and do my dailies, so it doesn't ask for a lot of time each day. Weeklies don't take terribly long either once you're leveled up. I can usually do my Hollow Zero runs in under an hour and notorious hunts in about 15 minutes.
I ended up spending on the Membership and battle pass but haven't needed to spend more beyond that. Game is somewhat generous with weekly events and free pulls every patch.
Looking forward to a lot of the upcoming characters and the new Story we're getting for 1.3 today!
Good to hear you are enjoying the game. I've been interested since the initial trailers a couple of years ago and been playing day one. A lot of gacha game talk gets mired in the character fandom and banner/exclusive stuff but I really like the general world building this game has done so far, the music is excellent, the character design and animation is great with solid personalities to fit. The combat is exceptional, and works well with the team building. It really is a full package, and I find myself disappointed whenever I reach the end of the latest patch and finally wring the content and limited end-game content dry because I want play more lol. Next patch sounds like there will be new end game stuff which is exciting. Hope you keep on truckin'!
One theory I have about the moon is that somehow the hollow disaster is an extraterrestrial catastrophic event where it doesn't just happened on Eridu or earth in that fact, but moons and planets too, which means, likely other celestial bodies either half-way corrupted just like the moon or fully corrupted because there's no one to supress it's corruption, so yeah, pretty crazy apocalyptic scenario if it's true.
Also a player who tried ZZZ late (2 months later), and I'm here primarily for Von Lycaon. Got him so early in the Prologue at the 20th pull, and will be making this account specifically for him to be involved in almost all combats. Currently taking my sweet time on my way towards the Victoria Housekeeping chapter, so no spoilers. Since I really loved the 1st chapter with all the drama of Nekomata, and then later Koleda's story being heartwrenching, I hope Chapter 3 will be just as good.

I play multiple gachas and imo you pretty much nailed it. One aspekt I kinda missed (but you might not be aware of since its your first gacha) is, that playing these games means ideally daily grinds. The games are designed to keep you playing regularly and/or spend money. This also means that, once you are done with your daily/weekly/event/patch routines, there is not that much content: At a certain point it might become a side game.
To me ZZZ was a pretty easy sell since I'm playing Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail too.
I feel like the gameplay is targeted for a wider audience, which leads people into gachas without them knowing they're in for a gacha and what that means.

The longer I play and the more details we get about the world (especially the ending of the most recent chapter) the higher on my list this game climbs.
I do really like how it respects my time, I don't have to put in 4hrs a day to keep up with everything in the game. Which is what a lot of other live services feel like imo.

I do also like that each character has different playstyles so it's not like every character plays the same. You have to learn how to use each one.
Then I was also surprised and relieved that unlike Destiny 2, this game is not multiplayer. So i'm not competing against sweatlords but rather talking with my friends about how my build is going with encouragement behind the words rather than trying to tear everyone else down to build yourself up.
I too played destiny 2 from start to forsaken then witch queen onwards but have always played other games and was familiar with gachas and mihoyo. A friend recommended me try ZZZ before it had come out and the ost from their website sold me. The vibes ost, story gameplay and general fun cast and atmosphere are whats keeping me around, it's what makes me more n more excited for the future of this game. Plus, the fact that dailies are super simple
my first hoyo game that stuck for more than a day, not really into the open world of Genshin and the space theme of Star Rail despite being a sucker for turn-based RPG. The combat reeled me in so fast, and Zhu Yuan made me stay.

i rarely stick around in gacha games but if i do like the game i usually bought the monthly gems or pass or both to support the dev and ZZZ is one of them.
That's similar to my philosophy. If I'm enjoying the game and I feel like the people making it really are putting their heart into something they care about I'm happy to spend some money. Games can only be free to play if someone pays for it and I'm happy to contribute to keep good games going.
So glad I saw this, I'm also just chilling and enjoying the game for what it is and not spending too much, first gacha game I've committed to playing and so far it's been great.
The weird thing for me is seeing a lot of negativity around it, but that mostly seems to be from people that play too many other gachas and even though I didn't commit to Genshin impact I remember there was similar negativity around that as well so yeah...I'm going to keep enjoying the characters, story and gameplay and hope you will too!

If you are interested in games with long running narratives, I’d suggest you try out Hoyoverse’s other games like Genshin and Star Rail. A lot of the systems are similar so there isn’t much of a learning curve (using materials to level up characters and weapons, the gacha system, etc…).
If you do, I recommend looking into which 4 star characters are the go to’s. Some of them are really strong and can carry you through the whole story without swiping. 👍
Glad you enjoy the game! I thought I wouldn't like this game much because the setting is modern time (I've always been a sucker of fantasy setting more than scifi futuristic modern time setting) and it's also not open world. I'm glad I still tried this game out, because I love it. It's now one of the 3 main games that I play regularly.
What got me hooked? The tv presenter with the potty mouth lmao. He's hilarious, and it gives me indication of the direction of the story, and I like where it goes. I also always love parry-based combats (Sekiro is my favorite soulslike game), so ZZZ checks that box.
I vibe with the ost, the retro style, the comic book part, and the animation is chef's kiss so fun to watch.
I'm only occasionally buying the monthly sub (so far I've bought 2 months and already got Ellen Joe + weapon, Qingyi + weapon, Rina + 2 weapons, Koleda, Caesar, Grace, Lycaon's weapon,), because I agree with what you're saying about spending too much will diminish the value of the game. It made the game into easy mode and it will no longer be as fun. Why would I pay to make the game not fun? Clearing Withering Garden with 11 debuffs and max corruption without being a whale is so satisfying. Ben carried my team ngl, his weapon is cracked, holeee.
And about retcon, I have faith in Hoyo, because if Genshin Impact is an indication, they do seem to always have finished making the framework for the main storyline way before they started making the game. AND the owners/CEOs of the company are the OG devs, not shareholders, since it's not a public company, so it puts my mind at ease that they won't sacrifice quality to appease shareholders.
(Btw if you like open world fantasy setting with classical music ost combined with traditional instruments and rock, Genshin is pretty solid. And it's as cheerful but dark underneath as well.)
My next target banner is Lighter's. Because, have you heard his English voice? Oh my. Oh me oh my. Oh wow.

Man! You hit the nail on the head. I also started late and missed the first few banners, but there is a lot of game in ZZZ. The story is an absolute blast and hopefully we’re just getting started. I got lucky with my pulls and managed to pull Jane, Ceasar and Burnice with no spend. Miracles do happen.

welcome aboard! The game is really fun and from the dev interviews I can tell that they really treat this game like their child. Honestly the biggest tip I can give for gacha games is pacing yourself for sure. Coming from Destiny I'm sure you've had your fair share of content droughts or burnout from playing and I think hoyo games are a lot more susceptible to this since there's no multiplayer (hopefully the new tower mode alleviates this more but tbh they already have a bunch of post-game modes). Keeping in mind that live-service games are more of a marathon rather than a sprint will help a looot in pacing yourself for the long-term. (also be aware that the limited characters are always trying to make you think that you need it due to their damage or utility so make sure to be objective and pull wisely (favourites are exceptions of course!))
Don't worry about the story! Hoyo games treat their characters and stories good and I'm sure that we're not even coming close to the full picture.

Hoyo uses "Soft pity" where basically the last 15 (in other cases other numbers) pulls have increasingly higher chance to give S until the last one hits 100%, so basically once you hit "75 pity" (75 rolls in) you should technically do single pulls to minimize waste.
It doesn't matter as much as long as you single pull the last 10
Hoyoverse games are great in that way that you can enjoy all the content, its quality and there is a lot of it, like Genshins main story at this point is like 70-80 hours long, Hoyoverse also gets better with time, quality goes up the more comfy and experienced they are. Also if you are interested in lore, I reccomend Ashikai, she does zzz lore stuff . I reccomend you give other hoyo games a try, like Honkai star rail (a turn based rpg) and Genshin Impact (Open world adventure fantasy type)

Destiny meant a lot to me too. I stood in line for 12hrs to pick it up from Gamestop back when that was still a thing, I feel a lot of the same excitement for the mystery and world of Zenless and that kinda worries me sometimes. But it helps to know that Hoyo seem to know how to run a successful game with at least a cohesive story. So I'm here for the ride 😎
Been playing ZZZ since day one. I had some moments that I kinda want to drop it since I'm also playing HSR (Another hoyo gacha game) and I was not entirely sure if committing to two gachas would be a good usage of my time. However, its just really fun and I've gotten really attached to the characters in the story, particularly the MCs as they are not just hollow husk characters or self-inserts but have their own personalities and that 1.2 story ending just got me into really going in for the long-haul at least storywise. I have two well-functioning team that helps me clear Shiyu every reset (Clearing just so I can get those sweet sweet polychrome rewards), but I'am looking to set up a new team for elemental coverage and the upcoming character Yanagi would fit in that team, so hopefully I can win my 50/50 to get her.

Thanks for sharing and as a low spender myself (buying battle pass and 5 dollar pass at most) I personally think this is the best way to play if you have the means. You still practice patience in saving resources but you get a bit more flexibility than a straight up F2P player. As someone who’s been in both sides (F2P and being a whale in Genshin Impact) I personally found the low spender life is the most comfortable and fun.
Anyway I’m glad you’re enjoying the game and I absolutely share the same sentiments regarding the story and its characters and looking forward to more!

fyi with burnice if you do want to have her on field and be dodging with her, you can use her single flamethrower ex to dodge with movement, it looks super cool. burnice and piper together is great if you've managed to pull her, soldier 11 should be good enough with like nicole (Nicole is goated so its nice everyone has her) or caesar and qingyi and you can have burnice piper lucy on second team. and yeah i also play just assuming I'm going to not get s ranks early and that I'll lose every 50/50 and even then i don't feel like I'm missing out on too many characters.
I love the characters in this game and the drip marketing really hypes me up to grind for forthcoming units. I have Koleda, Grace, Rina, Ceasar and Burnice. I lean heavy on Piper for DMG. This game is F2P friendly but you have to skip characters to keep F2P.
This is one of the first Gacha Games I started to put some money on (mainly because I now have a wage 🤣). I have a couple of recommendations and tips from my experience on the different Gachas that I’ve played, hope they prove useful to a couple of you viewers/players:
1- The game is a bit fast on releasing new characters and it certainly is difficult for a F2P to get all the characters/weapons (even low spend/players wait on the reruns, don’t worry). It is bearable I believe, what I would recommend in this regard is to think wisely on who you want/will pull and mainly focus on getting characters, not weapons, some weapons are cool additions to the characters but there is/will be options to pair them with and be good for them.
2- If you are wanting to use some money in the game I would recommend to buy the Proxy Subscription/Battle Pass (Forgot the name ✨) and the Monthly Subscription (300 + 90 polychromes a day). Other than that I would not spend any money as I believe everything else is straight up a scam which you won’t get a lot of value from.
3- Use all of your Polychromes on the Limited Banner. The game content does give you a decent amount of Master Tapes so be patient… you’ll eventually get there… (300 pull character selection 😖)
4- Check out for the Signal Shop monthly (5 Encrypted Tapes/5 Master Tapes/5 Boopons + Permanent Weapons and 4*’s).
5- Do your dailies, events, log-in, and content.
6- Don’t look down on your 4*’s as they will most probably occupy 1 or 2 slots on your team (for the foreseeable future) and all of them are able to clear out the main content, more or less (I’ve leveled up 15 Characters to lvl. 50 pls help 😖).
7- This is a young game so… Enjoy your time in it, give it some time to cook, and answer your surveys as the creators/team behind of this game do listen to feedback!

I understand the sentiment on not playing or trying gacha games, but recent ones coming out have fun gameplay and don't require you to spend to clear all the content. If you have good control of your finances, get a good understanding of the mechanics and characters you have, and do enough gear grinding you'll be fine.

I got into ZZZ because I love the art direction and character designs, retro 80/90s pop-punk feel. I didn’t expect the sci-fi narrative to develop as well as it has, early on it felt like it would end up a generic mission battler with forgettable characters . That said, I’m at 100% completion of all the content to this date, and the latest patches have been disappointing. Little more than side stories and character intros, lacking a lot of the charm and development the base game chapters (0-3) had. The recent commissions offered pretty weak gameplay without advancing the plot at all. The devs now seem to be going away from TV-mode to satisfy some over-magnified criticism from content creators (and have stated as much) and I worry a bit for the future of the game. If patch 1.3 and 1.4 aren’t closer to the base game in polish, gameplay and depth, ZZZ might be losing its direction…a bit like Destiny did. I truly hope not, because I love that ZZZ style, but I’ve seen it before.
the biggest value as low spender is for sure the interknot membership and not the the paid BP
also the BP starts losing value the longer you play, since you start to drown in most resources it offers anyway at some point.
e.g. in HSR i bought the paid BP every months for the first year... after that i only bought it every other months and still have enough of everything, probably switching to buying it only every 3 months soon(ish).
so as low spender i would say: get the monthly membership for sure, buy the BP early in the games life span with the option to drop it later without really noticing it

I still don't have two full teams built so I'm definitely in need of the extra resources at this point. I'll keep in mind though to audit the value after a time.
I like the battle pass for the extra resources and the fact it's not bottomless. But I could see not needing it after getting all my agents tuned just right.

Brother, its so refreshing to find a channel that doesn't mention about tits and ass I every other sentence. I mean I love tits and ass as much as the next guy but some of these channels are super cringe. I also love the concept of this world, the characters are interesting and thats what keeps me playing. There are so many interesting story threads, like fairy and the other a.i., the conspiracy behind Palmer etc. Can't wait to see where this is going. Btw its also my first gacha game, I had no idea what I'm getting my self into, so I spent all my free starting polychrome on the black and white tapes. I was to lazy to inform myself on what I'm doing and I had no idea that I'll actually start to love the game so I have to live with that decision XD
i noticed in your gameplay footage that you don't use burnice's charged attack and just do normals, you should probably give the charged attacks a try they are better

The game is good but too short, so in the end it becomes a game of challenging u to break ur own records and train to be stronger and faster in the content, but it's still fun, and I guess that's the way gachas work, I play mmorpg and zzz is my first and probably only gacha :P. About characters, mainly focused on Yanagi atm and will surely go for Miyabi, I like active characters, I have qingyi, jane doe, Ellen Joe, and would like to pull for lighter but he came out on a so bad moment, so I will have to skip him

I've been playing gacha games since 2018 and destiny since house of wolves (dropped after final shape)...
Ever since genshin impact released, I've been comparing bungie and mihoyo a lot (d2 and genshin were my main games) and let me tell you the way mhy treats its games is infinitely more respectful than whatever the fuck bungie does with destiny. Funnily enough I'm much more keen on dropping money in genshin/zzz than buying destiny expansions because at least they doesn't shove adds in my face all the time or try to nickel and dime me for every little piece of content. I have a lot of other grievances with d2 but I'll spare you the details haha...
Mihoyo on the other hand has my full trust and I would honestly expect great stuff from ZZZ team. They've already shown a lot dedication to the game and talent. I'm just praying they don't lose their way and game's identity, listening to loud minority of the community (tv mode situation had me worrying).
If you want something to watch during lunch break: Ashikai has some great theory and lore videos on ZZZ. I especially loved the latest one. There's a surprising amount of lore and hints toward possible future plot point already in game! She usually does genshin content but she's committed to some zzz vids.

If I wanted to give you advice, it would be not to spend a lot of money on characters. just play the new events it will give you a lot of currency for the gacha

ZZZ is all the best parts of genshin. Genshin has a lot of free content as well, but it’s so slow and the weekly and monthly routine isn’t worth the squeeze. I dropped Genshin to play d2.
One thing I like about ZZZ is that is seems like it’s a great game to make content for? A lot of the presskit material and gameplay is just so bombastic. It makes for great visuals as you talk about the game.
After playing ZZZ I did try Honkai Star Rails to see if there was anything I was missing, but no, there isn’t. Star Rails is a turn based game with WAY too much dialogue, like Honkai levels of dialogue. About half of the dialogue is obtuse poetry. And the other half is scifi nonsense.
ZZZ hits the perfect amount of story with a nostalgic setting. Do I miss the seasonal stories of d2, yes. But ZZZ does a great job filling that hole in my heart.
I will say I got back into genshin after 3 years away and skipped ahead in the storyline, similar to how you can do that in Destiny. The story has gotten a lot better and is a great spectacle but it’s still slow compared to zzz
