To be honest I like demon slayer gameplay more then literally every other storm game except for storm connections but that's the only good part of connections. honestly I basically never get anime games unless it's db fighterz because there usually bad and I was disappointed almost Everytime, but the demon slayer game was actually one of the better anime games ESPECIALLY compared to other arena fighters. I didn't regret the game and I didn't feel like I got slapped in the face. I was actually surprised this game was pretty good imo. It's not like a top tier gamr, but I really liked this game I didn't get it till most the free demons were released tho. Maybe that makes me like it more. I don't understand why anyone would specifically have an issue with this game tho when there are way worse anime games. Overall I think it is good game.

The demon slayer fighting system made sense to me, if you have read the manga you would know demon slayers advantage was their ability to fight together whilst demons hated each other.
Also the combo system is better than naruto's as the combos in naruto are the same for any character but absolutely different for demon slayer. It is a game that if you are good with one character, you won't be good with another one without practicing the first.
If there were more characters I personally would say it is absolutely better than naruto, the mechanics are far more nuanced.
    Hard disagree on simplistic combat.

thank you I believe that he is over critizing it, seeing that it is a new game and they are trying to make the mechanics and the overall experience different from storm. demon slayer main problem wasn't necessarily its lack of options. it was the fact that they waited too long to patch and update the game, as some characters where more advantageous than some especially the demons. that and they waited too long to add the dlcs, I was a pro player for the game so I have decent knowledge of what I'm talking about.

@@prolific_gambino7931 people think because 1 button does light and heavy attacks then it must be simple and easy. It's a game where you would get bodied easily not knowing something as simple as the range of your light attack or range of your heavy.
Not to mention this game does have substitutions and there is far more resource management than a chakra bar which can be raised EXTREMELY easily compared to stopping all motion in demon slayer. 1 skill takes 20% of a bar and takes forever to get back.

Bruh if you're able to play one char in this game you can play more or less everyone, why are we pretending otherwise.
Will it be the most optimal? Same with storm games you'll be missing out on infinite set ups and team combinations are more varied in storm games.
Also comparing it to another game that's simple combat has me scratching my head. Most of the stuff in storm and demon slayer can be learned in a day.

I think It is simplistic combat. Now being a storm vet myself, I can see where the majority of the mechanics comes from in Demon Slayer, but I think everything is too easy, so much so that the threshold of being considered an average player in the game can be reached within 1-3 days meanwhile It could take you at least a month and a half to become average in Storm.
In order to become average in Demon Slayer, you need to learn the combo strings, wait and turtle for your opponent, and then find whatever It is your character can abuse spam to win. You don't need to be mechanically skilled at the game, you don't need to have good muscle memory, fast hands or even good movement to be considered average.
Meanwhile in storm, there is a lot more requirements. If you think you can just sit back and turtle or find something to spam to win, you're in for a big surprise, storm gives you a lot of ways to find against certain playstyles. You're going to be expected to move around on your feet and be good mechanically If you want to remotely be a successful spammer.
I also couldn't help but realize that all of the top players in Demon Slayer couldn't become top players in Storm, but Storm players were able to easily pick up Demon Slayer and was capable of being the best in their game. And while It's true both communities play both games, Demon Slayer definitely still has It's own communities and top players. The fact that Demon Slayer is more noob friendly doesn't give It credibility for being competitive

I just want ONE reviewer that don't reduce 3d arena fighters gameplay to "just mash the button", no one ever talks about tech, combo creation, movement, team composition or balancing. I was also once like this, until I played One Piece Burning Blood, and while the game is kinda clunky and janky, and I had a bad first impression, there's a ton of stuff to practice and learn. My comment here is not even about this video or channel in particular, but it applies to a lot of reviewers I 've seen, so please don't take it as me being negative, I just wish people actually explored more or made some research gameplay-wise on the games they're talking about.

that is honestly just an general fighting game thing/problem. The thing is a lot of arena fighters audience is less technical than say 2d/traditinal fighter fan based that get in to frame data. This is also a result of making the surface of these games to simple resulting in boredom before learning high level mind games.

I've never heard a single review go in depth on _how_ Jump Force's gameplay was so bad and shallow even once during its _entire lifespan._ They just say the gameplay loop is boring/doesn't work and never get any more specific than that.
I've pieced together that it most likely has to do with the almost non-existent technical feedback when you hit an opponent (since the health bars were crazy small) and due to the characters always sliding 10 country miles forward to land their melee strings; reducing neutral to mostly just "attack, block, or guard break/grab." No thoughts on movement, spacing, cross-ups (probably due to them always being completely absent from arena fighters), or frame advantage/disadvantage. But all that came from me having to examine footage from various content creators playing online PvP.

@brutalnobody5240 It just sucks that a lot of reviewers almost completely disregard the "fighting" aspect of arena fighters. The furthest a vast majority of reviews get into an arena fighter's combat system is pointing out how cool the super attacks are.

I am a huge DS fan and Bought this game on release, the season 2 dlc and I got a platinum on it on ps4. And I will say, the gameplay actually is very fun, combos can get pretty hard and creative. Boss fight are really good, Akaza vs Rengoku is my favorite fight in any anime videogame (and I even got a platinum in naruto ninja storm 4). But I will say, the problem is the roster. They should have waited for season 2 to drop it. Cause know that even season 3 happened and s4 is on the way idk if they will keep adding dlcs of new seasons, considering very few people play it.
You simply cannot make a fighting game of a 1 season show. And if they keep adding new seasons dlc(Like a S3 one with Red Blade Tanjiro, Muichiro, Genya,Mitsuri, Gyokko and Zohakuten) very few people will buy them, cause why pay 30 dollars for a dlc pack of a game you never play. (I would buy them but I love this manga and this game too much)

At this point, it’s probably unlikely that more DLC is coming. They would have capitalized on that while the last airing of the show was still fresh. They’re probably looking into a sequel at this point as the story section for that last arc hasn’t even been included yet.

I feel like the gameplay is very misrepresented in videos like these. It was actually quite different from storm and had a much less repetitive combat system. It went quite in depth. The characters all felt really unique even if they shared a breathing style. I think the game's weakest area was by fat the story mode. That was HOT GARBAGE. I expected better from CC2, since the whole reason Storm's online play was bad was because it was essentially a storymode franchise with online on the side. Demon Slayer kind of felt like the reverse. No work put into making story mode actually fun. Such a shame.

  • @cendlezfuryz1782

This game had a lot of potential due to a decent amount of depth in its combat system, you can tell from high level play but I feel like the main problems with this game are how strong passive play is, the lack of balance patches (which results in the game’s meta being extremely power crept by susamaru, akaza, and entertainment district zenitsu), and poor net code/ ranked system
On your point about a lot of the dlc just being reskins I say you are completely wrong there. Dlc Nezuko has a completely different playstyle from the original nezuko (being a lot less safe on her moves but doing a lot more damage). Dlc tanjiro/zenitsu/inosuke despite only having the skills changed as well as a few slight differences such as dash speed and health manage to have different playstyles from their originals. Dlc Tanjiro being more speed focused instead of damage focused. Dlc Zenitsu being very low on damage, one of the lowest damage outputs in the game but having some of the fastest moves in the game compared to the original who is basically all damage and playing extremely safe. And dlc inosuke who has about the same game plan as the original inosuke but he has more reliable options.
I still say the game lacks in character variety though, all the slayers have about the same gameplan but execute them differently, most of the variety is in the demons and almost all of them have pretty unique playstyles
There’s also the problem with inconsistencies in some of the game mechanics such as parries and assist/projectile tracking (parries sometimes doing a phantom parry which is the same as a normal parry but it doesn’t stun the opponent, on moves that shouldn’t be phantom parried. As well as assist/projectile tracking being able to be broken pretty easily depending on the assist/projectile)
Overall this game had a lot of potential to be something good but due to developer neglect it ended up being a failure

Ah yes, because the average player doesn’t want to get into the mechanics and just mash buttons then there isn’t depth argument.
Why on earth would you want to play in versus without assists? Assists literally make the game more interesting and make you incorporate team building. Meanwhile Demons in the show never really worked together so they give them additional special moves as well, but that limits them in other ways. This is the uniqueness that you just overlook for some reason.
Now your criticism for the story mode and the free roam is fair.

I mean yeah, this is unique, but certainly quite bad.
Use every team fighting game as an exemple, if you choose less characters in the selec screen, the game gives you more life and etc.
Players should have the choice to play only one character, ''Oh but the demon buff'', Remove the buff and let demons work together, just for the fun of it.
Just cuz it's unique, doesn't mean it's good

    • @CodeTetsu
      @CodeTetsu 11 месяцев назад +4

@@JubileeCaptcha It’s not bad at all. If you think having an extra support for neutral, combos, and setups is bad then what on earth do you expect to gain from having less tools to work with?
Don’t ask for variety and uniqueness and then when it’s offered whine that you want things homogenized. You essentially want a different style of play and thought to be removed for your unga bunga Goblin brain. Demons have the ability to regenerate like the show, but to balance they often have worse health modification and are not able to switch the way slayers can. However losing an assist messes up certain setups and combos, so to make up for that they gave the demons extra skills. This makes you think and properly weight the pros of playing a demon vs what you lose.
Storm does not give you benefits for less assists, neither does Dragonball to my knowledge, or even Marvel.

    • @JubileeCaptcha
      @JubileeCaptcha 11 месяцев назад +3

@@CodeTetsu Storm gives you better assist regen if you get less assists.
Skullgirls and dragon ball make your character stronger with less to no assists.
I think you really don't know what you're talking about.
Let's use jojo's bizarre adventure for a moment, there's a character named Dio, he is a vampire, so you can't use him on stages that happen during daytime. Unique? Yes, Fun? NO, the BEST stages of the game happen during daytime, but for your great uniqueness, most players can't play dio on them because that would not be unique enough.
You saying like i'm against uniqueness and variety, no, i'm against the bad ones, the ones that remove player choice.
In a fighting game, i shouldn't care about which side i'm choosing, which champion has the best regen or shi, i should care about what is the best character for me, and best team for me.
My ''unga bunga brain'' understands this topic better than you i can see, becuz you are not making sense.
You want uniqueness? Ok, now every demon hunter needs at least 4 other hunters to fight, cuz last time i checked, only the higher moons asked for Hashiras in the team, and last time i checked, some demons on the team are NOT Higher moons.
OR OR OR, LET'S BE MORE UNIQUE, now demons can one tap hunters, considering how the hunters needed to dodge like crazy becuz one direct attack from demons is basically a death sentence to everyone who isn't a tank using clothes.
I'm saying this game could be like Skullgirls or Dragonball, Buff the character when he's alone, and LET players choose to have a 1v1, Becuz again, removing player choice is NOT a good change.

@@JubileeCaptcha Storm doesn’t let you play without assists online and neither does Mortal Kombat 1, BB Tag, or Dragonball. I don’t know what you’re talking about. You must be talking about some other modes then that basically no one uses.
If you didn’t want a property to play to its canon or utilize its canon in interesting ways then just play a different game. You’re asking for less attention to detail because you can’t handle a different stage. It’s not even bad uniqueness, you bought the game knowing full well the lore and properties of the game. Cry about it.
If you don’t think you should be factoring in gameplay mechanics and character mechanics for which character is better for you then you’re delusional. Yes you should think about health pools, regen, movesets, and character damage modifiers because they inherently change the way you play. I’m making perfect sense. You’re whining about unique character details and mechanics because you just want everything to be the same and fit your personal wants.
Your statement about the characters was asinine. At no point in the show did that many demon slayers work in tandem. Also none of the major fights in the shows were one shot battles so your attempt at making an excuse doesn’t work.
The option to fight on your own is a pretty pointless feature that makes no sense to use. Skull girls is the only game where having you fight alone is used in official play, even in Dragonball no one uses the option to fight alone.

You say ''Utilize the cannon in interesting ways'' like just removing features it's interesting, you're delusional lol. if you really wanted interesting cannon, you would know that jojo and kimetsu games are doing it wrong. jojo i can forgive cuz most stages have night variants, but demon slayer is just lolz.
You're whining because you want the game to be FOR YOU, the game is literally the same thing as naruto, even when you end a fight with an ultimate move, there's the little flashback happening.
i'm complaining becuz they removed player's choices, ''Oh but the cannon and character buffs'' wah wah wah, you act like every player is constantly looking for the source material, damage attributes, health regen and etc, you're the delusional one, some people have a life and just want to play their game, and spoilers, those are the majority, not everyone wants to pro play every game, and if character stats change how you play them, damn, you must be REEEEEALLY fun to play with huh?
My point about the show and manga continues, in every fight, the slayer has to block or dodge, if he doesn't, some die instantly, and others just get effed up, or you telling me that demons and humans have the same endurance?
AND, as far as i remember, when they were gonna fight in that forest with the spider thingies, they've sent like, 20 hunters right? ''Oh but there a lot of demons'', and? wouldn't that more likely mean that demons CAN work together, it's more that they don't want to? ''Oh but they weren't fighting together'' they were on the same team, so the point stands, even on some other parts, we could see demons that had sinergies, so meh, just not cannon i guess.
It doesn't matter if the option is pointless, some players should have that option regardless, and they should just buff the character when people play alone, it's not that hard.
As far as i remember, a lot of teams in dragon ball consist of 2 characters, so lol.
      Like hit + 17
      Broly and freeza
but oh no, those aren't cannon enough for you?
And wtf you mean '''Official play?''' just say pro play. OR are you referring to history mode, who DOES let you fight alone or with teams of 2 characters?
doesn't that happens in the demon slayer game? weird...

Will still defend One's Justice 2 til death. First game can labeled a cash grab, but the sequel tweak and added to what was in the first game and made one of the best 3D arena fighters. Period. All its missing is a hype story mode and a bigger budget. And I would/will buy a third installment because thats just how good a step up 2 was from 1.
Does it have its jank? Sure, but even something as coveted as Fighterz has loops, infinities, and exploits not intended as part of the game.

the arguments you've made during this make no sense man.
    1. "Muzan should have been in the game"
He had no source material to make a moveset from using the anime.
    2. "You can't play as 1 demon slayer but can only play as 1 demon"
Demons hate each other, it's a big part of the story, and why allow the player to just NOT pick an assist if it's a central mechanic, it's like complaining you can't play 1 character in DBFZ online.
    3. "They milked the dlc with entertainment district characters half of which were duplicates"
First, they all had very different movesets, ESPECIALLY nezuko, and second, how would they have been in the base game? the arc hadn't fuckin aired at the time of release my guy
    4. "all characters feel the same"
No. like.. just no, you're wrong, please go play the game
    5. "The demons should have been there at launch"
I agree, but how can you THEN take them adding them after for free and somehow twist that as it's own complaint? they did exactly what you wanted, you got to play demons, be happy they decided to actually add them, since they needed mostly new movesets since the boss ones had completely overtuned move.

    • @scoffeex1740

      2. The game doesn't have to abide by those rules. in DBFZ you fight 3v3 even though most of Dragon Ball is 1v1 fights, if the game should stick to 1v1 or 2v2 and not have this weird separation of humans and demons.
      3. Even if they have different movesets they're still just the same characters with a different flavor.
      4. Sure they have different moves but the combos are almost the same for every character, they could have different projectiles, finishers or even infinites but there isn't as much variety as any real fighting game, there's little to no depth to in the combat to make the characters feel different even if they are.

Genuinely unsure on why they didnt wait for ed to end and Sworsmith to start to release the game, it might’ve had alot more hype around it with a decent roster after ed and then looking forward to more dlc with sword smith, at this point it looks like a new game after hashira training/Infinity castle is the only way forward for demon slayer as a game

I half agree and disagree with this video, on one hand I agree that the character roster and free roam were horrendous, on the other, your points about the gameplay were just nothing arguments. Why is the gameplay simplistic, How do the characters play the same. Just saying those things don't mean anything. Also just playing online gives you tons of points, it takes like 2 hours max to get any character you're interested in.

  • @Junketsuu
    @Junketsuu 11 месяцев назад +4

His takes in this video seem biased. He claims the gameplay is simplistic, but there is more depth than most arena fighters with things like push blocking, having to manage your assist bar, the combo meter, and determining the right time to use your awakening.
As for the roster, he claims it’s empty but they included everything they could without jumping into spoiler territory. Adding characters like the Hashira and Muzan would completely spoil anime onlys and ruin the anime experience.
Calling the game an unfinished cash grab is just flat out wrong as well. The game came out obviously as they meant it to and only added paid dlc after the events happened in the anime.

  • @CodeTetsu
    @CodeTetsu 11 месяцев назад +20

I have mixed feelings on the free demon dlc. On one hand you wish they just added them in at the start, but also them coming out separately and as continuous releases increases the game’s longevity by giving the more hardcore players some new tools to work with and discover new things which warrants them coming back.
Yes some of the duplicates seem similar but comparing the Nezukos is definitely a bad idea when they are a lot different, and there are even nuances with Tanjiro and the Kagura variants. However the fact there was no entertainment district arc story mode dlc is criminal

One thing i liked about Storm games is they has more spectacle and very often greatly improved what the anime looked like, since the anime was older and had a lot of low points regarding the animation. But it just seems superfluous for demon slayer because it was made by Ufotable who’s main thing is to make incredible looking anime that utilizes cg very well. It’s impressive that cyberconnect made the game look so similar to the anime, but in this case it feels more like an approximation than an improvement

I haven’t played this game since I feel like the anime itself is kinda overrated, but from the gameplay I’ve seen, it does seem like one of the more competently made arena fighters out there. Some of the competitive gameplay I’ve seen seems genuinely very fun (aside from a few top-tiers taking over the meta, anyway) in contrast to Naruto Storm, whose competitive scene looks just as boring and repetitive as casual gameplay.
All that said, I think the saddest thing about arena fighters is the fact that they aren’t even the laziest or most overused cashgrabs for anime games: that title goes to gacha games, and unfortunately a lot of my personal favorite anime are relegated to gacha hell, even when they’d translate super well to a fighting game.

I want to ask if it's even possible to make a good Arena fighter. The very nature of the beast demands far more simplified and less fun mechanics to be implemented. Characters are not properly done justice because the developers are more worried about fans of that property not being able to play their favourite character.
This is not an issue we have in the FGC, really. You play whoever you want to and you learn how to play them, and you like them or you move on. But Arena fighters have boxed themselves into a corner, and I am aware there are good Arena fighters, but they're never anything special.
Most arena fighters are LUCKY to be played in Kusoge circles. Kill la Kill IF, Ninja Storm 4, One Piece Burning Blood and One's Justice 2 are said to be the best arena fighters. I've seen players swear up and down that they really are the best, but that really does not say much. So without any proper examples of genuinely good arena fighters that can stand on their own, there's a reason most people scoff when the genre is brought up. I think these games look and feel terrible and I am amazed that they're still being made because in ANY other fighting game circle, they'd be dead on arrival.

    • @christiancinnabars1402
      @christiancinnabars1402 11 месяцев назад +3

If arena fighters styled themselves more like Tekken and less like a child's toy box, then I think they could easily become run-away successes. And they don't even have to sacrifice character count for that; just make the _base_ gameplay loop at least half as enjoyable as any 2D fighter and people will be happy.
Add in fun movement tech, add in high/low blocking, add in scenarios that go down to nitty gritty frame numbers. Casual players will still have fun the same way casual players still have fun with 2d fighters. And for the love of god, _stop having the characters slide 5 meters across the ground whenever they start their attack strings._ Why have your game based around the fighting category with more open movement options, then completely trivialize most of the finer levels of movement?

DBZ Kakarot, Hinokami Chronicles, Naruto Storm, Asura's Wrath, all games that people praise for looking like the best games in the history of games and kick the shit out of their gameplay for being bland, repetitive, button mashy, brainless, etcetera, and that's if they even mention it at all. I'd say that Jojo's ASB:R is the only game they've developed in recent years that actually feels like a game that was meant to be played and not watched, what with having actually in depth gameplay and all solely because it was built off the spine of the original ASB from 2013 rather than being a completely new game constructed from the ground up.

Speaking only on the simplicity of the combat, I feel like this was said without truly understanding the mechanics. You have meter management, just like storm. The combat is way more mechanically unique. Pushblock, parry, a combo breaker at the cost of your assist or special attacks if a demon. Like you said the boost system that also turns into an awakening system. The combos you can make are entirely unique and prior to storm connections demon slayer was the only cyber connect arena fighter that had so many combo routes for characters. Probably one of the only arena fighters, besides the MHA games.
Additionally.. its a fighting game with a story- after story you’re gonna just do pvp. The remaining playerbase are fighting game players. I can understand the gripes about story and character lists, but at the same time demon slayer doesn’t have a lot of relevant characters and it had to avoid spoiling the anime. Most of the complaints regarding its simplicity comes from people who aren’t fans of fighting games, just demon slayer fans. So they only look at the combat on base lvl.
It really feels like a lot of the complaints weren’t actually thought of on why, only what is.

This game is great and I have a really fun time playing it win or lose, I think people are od opinionated which takes away from their enjoyment of the game, my only complaint about this game is that it tries to follow the anime way too closely by not allowing 1v1 as a whole or 2v2 (for humans vs demons), the story mode is sluggish when traveling, and the game doesn’t have that many characters to choose from, this game either should just come out with more dlc characters, stages, and an addition to the story mode or just come out with a 2nd entry of the game, i’m the type of person who thinks that every popular fight based anime should have a Storm gameplay type of game, idk storm (as a whole) is just the perfect anime fighting game when it comes to the mechanics, movement, and freedom, now the graphics can definitely be argued but for the most part so far imo storm is peak anime fighting game, you feel like your actually playing the anime, I would love to see a Hitman reborn, YuYu Hakusho, Bleach, and a Beelzebub storm type games come out, those types of games would break the internet for sure

I KNOW HOW TO FIX ANIME ARENA FIGHTERS!!!
Please read at your own pace.
The reason why something like dragon Ball z fighters works is because it's a fighting game first and then an anime game second. Arena fighters can work but you need to significantly change them in order to actually be competent fighting games. Devs should have looked at games like soul caliber, Tekken, or even other action games that have a similar camera system, like God hand to get this to work.
Here's how I would improve all anime fighting games.
    1. Restrict movement:
When moveing, the problems that these games have is their free 360 degree movement. Fighting games best work on either a 2d plane, or a 2.5 plane. This is because when you're trying to figure out if your attacks can land consistently, space out your opponent or set up proper combos, you can't do that very easily when the opponent has full 360 degree movement. So to mimic 2.5 system you take from actually sword fighting or other combat sports. Lines and circuits. Lines in this case merely going towards opponent or going away from the opponent. Circles mean the circle around the opponent that a player is restricted too when pressing right or left. The camera can stay over the shoulder like a normal third person game, but the character is just restricted to a straight line toward the opponent or a circle around them.
    1b. Controls:
If the player want to go off the straight line of attack or back up quickly they must quickly double tap left or right, forward or back and the character will side step and circle, or dash in that direction. This also makes a character's range more meaningful, and requires the player to actually think about their attack frames and animations.
    2. Traditional fighting game combat:
If all characters had the traditional high, middle, and low attacks with light, heavy, and medium variants, it would make each attack feel distinctive and more useful in a specific scenario. This keeps combat fresh and fun, because the player will not just spamming the same strings of light attacks. The player has to be considerate of how they are attacking and which attacks are going to lead them into a greater combo string. It makes them also be more aware of the attack they are throwing out, because some attacks are slower than others, but are stronger as a result, and some attacks are weaker but faster. So the player has to balance what they want for that specific moment. Low attacks can potentially trip, allowing for the player to do additional damage or follow up combos, while high attacks can have a chance of dazing the opponent. With this system, gameplay can be standard to other fighting games, with knockback mechanics, shield poke mechanics, trip mechanics, and much more.
    2b. controls:
This control system can be achieved by having the face buttons determine whether the attack is light, medium, heavy, respectively and the movement direction the player is currently holding determing the area the attack is hitting. Holding forward is a high attack, holding backward from the enemy is a low attack, and when the movement stick is stationary it is a middle attack. One of the face buttons can be dedicated to blocking attacks, regardless if they are high, middle, or low. A bumper can be dedicated to grabbing opponents. Another bumper can be used to jump for aerial combat, where movement direction doesn't matter, and attacks are determined by light, medium, or heavy attacks. One trigger dedicated to using the special, another trigger dedicated to dashing toward the opponent. Then the directional buttons are for launchers(an attack that sends the enemy in the air for an air combo), projectiles, anti air, and switching targets in a team fight.
    3. Rebalance, Repurpose:
The last thing anime fighters need to do is rebalance the characters, and repurpose them into traditional fighting game roles, like a grappler, a spacer, puppet Master, rushdown, ect ect. This makes every character play distinctively, and with a unique play style that fits their character and what they want to do in combat. By rebalancing the damage, knock down, knock back, and everything else, developers can use these amazing visuals, graphics, and effects for a actually competent fighting game that people will play for a long time given the game has good Internet connection.

The game and the anime it's based on do little to push the genre forward, and are only bought into because of the exceptional visuals. How Poetic.

spent £50 on this game only to have about 5 hours on it, the game was so forgettable and laggy online and the story was pretty boring as well. wasted my money.

Saying that the gameplay is simpler than storm is absolute bs, did you even play the game? The amount of combo possibilities is nowhere near storm games. This game was the best cyberconnect ever did with gameplay. The problem is not the gameplay, maybe the lack of single player content aside from story mode and poor servers for online gameplay. There, summed it up for you and I dont even have to watch until the end. These hate reviews are so shallow

The thing I find interesting with these anime fighter game videos is that almost all of them praise the storm series as peak when the storm series is the least technical anime fighter period lol. Kill la kill if, One's justices 2 and even hinomaki chronicles hell even jump force have more to offer when it comes to gameplay

Im not against arena fighters. A lot of the ones I've played have been different enough. I'd like more variety, but I think i get why a lot of anime games follow the Arena Fighter a lot of time. It's the easiest genre with multiplayer that can appeal to as many people as possible and hang onto then for a good while. I think so at least.
A 2D fighter already pushes away most of the casual audience sadly. And some people don't have the patience for an RPG.
I'd like to see more anime Action RPGs similar to DBZ Kakarot. That game is simple and has its own issues, but something about it stuck.
Or even another Musou style anime game, but more along the lines of Persona 5 Strikers where it's a full on story mode.
Probably none of these are good ideas, but it's a little thought.

This dude doesn’t understand game development at all.
It wasn’t academy dupes vs demons, it was academy dupes vs nothing at all. If they had the time/resources to add an entirely different moveset alongside a new character model, they would have. This reviewer gets upset that these dupes play the same as their base characters, but then this dude ALSO gets mad when they add dupes that DO play differently. Pick one dude.
People are being unnecessarily critical of CC2, man. Is the game kinda mid? Sure. But incompetent reviewers like these don’t exactly give CC2 the feedback they need to hear to make better games.

Here's some good feedback for CC². Hey guys you make good games but for the love of god follow the asura formula you had AND MAKE CUTSCENES MORE SPREAD OUT other than that just add more buttons for combos and you're good.

Story mode is meh the only reason to play it is to unlock online customizations and trophy/ achievement completion. Arcade mode is very limited since you can only use Demon Slayers and online mode is where the meat and the rest of your attention is going through. All in all i enjoyed the game for what it's worth but there's really no reason to comeback to it if all development had stopped and there's no new news about and additional content.

I don't think you gave the versus mode much of a chance 😂There's a lot more mechanics to it than you realize, it's a pretty skilled system. You can't just go in there all braindead, you gotta think, which is not what you have to do in storm. The gameplay looks similar to Storm's but it's definitely not the same, Storm is very cheesy and mashy. A good play in DS does not do that. This is coming from one of the top players on this game

In my opinion I kinda wish this game went the Soul Caliber route or even a JRPG insted of the 300th 3D Arena Fighter but hot take: this game is more enjoyable than Storm Connections

If you dislike this game it’s because you haven’t learned how to play the game. This is probably one of the best anime fighters out. Easily shits on any storm game. High level fights on this game make me feel like I’m right in the anime the shit is crazy good. At least that’s my opinion.

@@SOUR_OG I think it’s worth the 45 bucks, since you’re getting the complete game DLC and all for under price point. I personally paid for the game full price and the season pass at the time. Only thing is I haven’t played in a bit as I haven’t touched my console in a while so I do not know how many active players there are for online match making.

This honestly feels like a half assed video if i'm being honest, because the only thing that you have to say about the main aspect of the game is that "every character feels the same" Which is you took more than 3 minutes to learn you'd realize that that's not true. It's easy to learn for sure but there is depth to it, All games are defined by it's movement and just because it's not as fast as storm doesn't make it "watered down". They actually took there time to understand their game design and made demons that play different and slayers that played different while keeping to the lore of the game. Demons get extra skills and healing, while slayers get an assist who can body block and save them. Managing your special meter for either a power up or a game closer to restock your energy. I agree that they should have released this game when they had demons available but you're honestly not really trying to view the game as it is now, which there is merit to doing. You should highlight what was done right, which was the variety and depth of the combat system that you didn't bother to learn or consult anyone with. Poor take on this one.
