    I ordered the Quantum 3 edge mid wheel drive on Motability, it had to go back, it was no good in my village, every little crack it threw the wheels off, on one pavement It was so hard to control, it was useless on Kerb climbing, nice looking chair, but not for village life. It’s so hard choosing right, I’m now looking on the rear wheel drive with kerb climber ranges, still not sure what is best. Great review and good to see a chair on different ground, we need more like this. Thank you 🙏

      Hello Christina, thank you for getting touch and I'm so glad you appreciated the video. Tackling different terrain or uneven surfaces is a constant challenge. I will attempt to do a video in the near future which may help you with your decision. In the meantime if you require any further information you can always contact me at the CMS office, link to the website/details are in the video description. Thank you 🙂

      A long time ago I used the Invacare Storm Series rear wheel for about 10 years and never got stuck as much as I did with the Quantum mid wheel in only a few years. The Quantum chair is complete garbage for wheelchair users who want to leave their house even for a stroll in a city neighborhood. Getting it and keeping it was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. I'm getting a new one now and will definitely go back to the Storm Invacare.

      What chair did you end up going with in the end?

  • @ecologist_to_be

    The spider trac is technically only on the Q700m range. It just called 6 wheel suspension on the Q300m, Q400m & Q500m. This is what it says on the Sunrise medical website.
    I had the old version of the invacare and I really hated the suspension where as my spider trac on Q700m is excellent on steep bus and train ramps.
    Watching this I am seeing how my Q700m is better than this Q500m as my chair would have got through that.

      Hello Sarah,
      Thank you so much for your comment. You're right in saying that the Q700M is the only chair that has the new Spider Trac 2.0 however the other chairs you mentioned still have a version of the Spider Trac, just not as advanced. The name Spider Trac purely relates to how the castor arms and main drive wheel articulate, the different versions relates to how they achieve that articulation. The reason they describe it as 6 wheel suspension instead of Spider Trac 1.0 is because naturally it doesn't sound quite as good and to save confusion between the models. Like you said the Q700 series is a large financial step up therefore it's important for Sunrise Medical to highlight the reasons why there is such a jump. We will try and provide a video to demonstrate this and hopefully clear things up.
      Thanks again, CMS

      @@clinicalmobilitysolutions2131 Interesting! I find it all very confusing tbh as be ideal if I could find a cheaper chair that I enjoy using and is just as functional as in 4 years time will need a new one according to manual. lol I can't currently transport my chair in a car as soooo heavy. Only time I tried the 500m was when my 700m needed repairs and I hated it but hard to truly tell when the 500m wasn't customised for me 😒

    My new Q700M will be delivered to me in 3 days, I looked at the TDX and it ended up being a big no from me.
    All I really saw was one tire is better than the other in this video. I saw the TDX's drive wheel spinning and losing traction on an uneven surface at one point, the Q500 didn't lose a beat at the same point. This just seemed to be a tire tread difference, it's helpful if I want to go slogging in the mud, which I won't haha. I always appreciate people doing testing videos on chairs, thank you.

      Thanks for getting in touch Michael! Depending on how severe the terrain is, I would say that a mid-wheel drive chair would be better. The only time they get stuck is when the castors are unable to climb certain obstacles. Hope this helps

    what about the TDX sp on a city sidewalk. clunk, CLUNK, clunk or does it go over with barely a ripple. I have been researching Invacare Power Wheelchairs for use on city sidewalks, crossing over at a stoplight - not any outdoor use.

    • @clinicalmobilitysolutions2131
      @clinicalmobilitysolutions2131  3 года назад

      Hi Dean, thank you for your comment. Most portable ramps shouldn't be an issue for either of the chairs, the only factors to consider are the gradient and weight limit of the ramp. Hope this helps

    It may be the better mid wheel drive chair but if you want to go off road on a regular basis you definitely need FWD or RWD, they both are far superior for off-road!

  • @williambayh1574

    Tire tread, for appearance sake, gives the Quickie no chance to compete with the Invacare in such terrain. Why in the mud with such expensive machinery where both manufactures would dare not recommend? Look at off-road power wheelchairs, but remember water and electricity don't mix and they have limits too for maximum life wo costly repairs. Thank God we are provided PWC's to accommodate our individual needs and live life to the fullest.
    Bad example CMS - comparing two puny mid-wheel-drive (worst off-road and void warranties) PWC's for an audience that can't walk away when stuck in the mud!

    • @clinicalmobilitysolutions2131
      @clinicalmobilitysolutions2131  4 года назад +3

      Hello William, thank you for your comment however this video was not to demonstrate the chairs capabilities but to identify their weaknesses and understand their limitations. You're completely right in saying that they are not designed for off-road use but that doesn't prevent people from doing so nor does it stop a dealer from selling them for that purpose. Therefore hopefully from this example it will encourage people to be a little more aware of where they're taking their chairs and if they feel that they are tackling more challenging terrain then this video only highlights the importance of getting the right equipment for the job. I will be doing a video in the future of actual off-road/all-terrain options that hopefully you'll enjoy and agree with. Once again, thank you for getting in touch. CMS

      when the wheels are muddy I normally wait for the mud to dry out first so that you can brush most of it off. Then I would use a spray normally used for mountain bikes but it works really well on any powered/manual chair. Thanks for the comments

      Hello Gabe, thank you for getting in touch. You're certainly right, Sunrise Medical do have the ability to programme and tweak the chairs performance parameters but so do most powerchairs. Any prescriptive chair will have individual programming capabilities, they just have different software to do it. I will do another video soon with the Q500M in a better setup which will hopefully allow it to perform a little better. Sorry for the delay but thank you for getting in touch.
