I was thinking the same thing. I think it being queen+spore+spine as the core would be dope. I think you can do lings as well with restrictions (no drops, possible cap on amount up at a time)
Have you thought about including an infestor with your ling drops? I often see players bunching up their workers against lings so the lings can't attack too many of them at once, I feel like a fungal would just decimate the entire mineral line there (just make sure you don't drop the infestor until the player reacts). If they try to run, workers also often bunch up and form a line, and a fungal would be great to slow them down and let lings work their magic.
Marc, if burrowing lings for vision becomes common in this series, I'm not sure if you know, but not only can you send a ling to "burrow on arrival" (shift + move command + B), but you can continue holding down the shift key after "burrow" and just right click a single ling out of your group. With this method I'm sending out 6 or 7 separate "burrow on arrival" lings in ~3 seconds. Maybe you knew! maybe not! For the Swarm.
Why don't more zerg who are bad at creep spread utilize overlords more often to shortcut the tumors? It's like how so many zerg forget burrow exists. I wanna see Excrete Creep and Contaminate to GM. Dunno if there should be unit limitations, but actually finding ways to use overlord abilities would be a interesting to see.
Sometimes I think there’re less SC2 active players, then uThermal has subscribers. Don’t know about you guys, but I’m here only because of Marc’s charisma:) I love his commenting and passion for the game, as well as bright good emotions!
I even forgot that Infestors used to have infested terrans, I miss those days of doing dumb and fun stuff like mass infestor then Neural an SVP to build ravens so that I can spam turret + Infested terrans.
the misplaced command center has made me think it could be fun to do a challenge where you're not allowed to place towncenters in the correct places lol
@@enriquegarciacota3914 i was thinking more like building multiple TCs in close proximity (i.e. you just can't build on any of the normal 5x5 tiles). would probably have some funny results in terms of worker production and things like scans/chrono boosts lol
I have a very cool challenge idea, it's basicly around overseers and salt gathering. Overseer has contaminate ability that halts production and upgrade for a long time. make a lot overseer and halt the enemy production while grind them down with whatever units Marc sees fit.
I think that a balanced "gold bases for all" map might be possible. Here's my idea: -The "Zerg" gold would be located like the one on Equilibrium. -The "Terran" gold would be on an elevated "island" close to the main that's accessible only by air. -The Protoss' would be an elevated almost-island with a very tight ramp that's as far from either main as possible (ie, only viable early-game if you can Recall workers to it). -Both the Terran and Protoss gold base platforms would have only enough build-able space for a Nexus/CC and maybe 2-3 static defense structures, but would be surrounded by additional area that units could traverse (think invincible versions of the no-build plates at ramp bases). I figure that would give each race their own gold that they could reasonably take/defend in the early game without making it a turtle-fest. Being elevated but not separated would allow ranged ground units to attack defenses/attackers without a drop but _not_ the base or mineral line, so it would be easy to hold in the early game but about as vulnerable as a normal base once the opponent can attack from the air. The lack of build-able space would also confine its use to gaining economic advantage, not protecting production/tech structures. They'd also require some consideration as to when you'd take them, as Terrans would be unable to quickly saturate theirs before getting Medivacs out and the Protoss would have to leave a Probe idle for a long time and use a Recall. In either case, it would require an early-game sacrifice for a mid-game payoff, similar to Equilibrium's gold for Zerg.
As a former silver/gold league champion... watching the last guy feebly & annoyingly waste time with flying terran buildings really brought back some vintage memories lol
Hey uThermal, I would absolutely love to see things like: Thors in a Nydus, Ultras in a medivac, or even recall banelings with a mothership on top of an army. If you neural workers and make a protoss or terran army you can actually combine all these abilities. (Theoretically in multiplayer you can steal both protoss and terran, and recall bcs to a mothership, teleport them to the other side and then recall to your nexus)
Nearly impossible to do in practice (especially the zerg+terran ones) - most games end way too early for it to be even be possible to do, and even in the games that last long enough it's nearly impossible to tech up quickly enough for it to matter. In the zerg+terran ones especially you need like 20 infestors constantly using neural parasite on the same SCV over and over again (as a single neural parasite doesn't last even close to long enough to build a CC) and hope your opponent does nothing the entire time. If he tried to make a challenge out of it it would unfortunately devolve to him almost BMing his opponent - he would easily take the lead early on and then have to try to constantly stay just far enough ahead of his opponent that the opponent doesn't quit when really he could just end the game at almost any point in time. Challenges where the challenge more or less devolves to "try not to make your opponent quit" aren't going to be that interesting to watch.
It is definitely hard, but also not impossible at all. I did it many times, and uThermal is much better then me. In fact in the start of the video uThermal is talking about building a protoss or terran army. @@asdfqwerty14587
I mean...at the point where you're down to your last building, and your enemy already knows where it is... It's definitely over. But everything up until that, I definitely respect. Yay SC2! I don't like Stormgate and couldn't be bothered to watch the videos after the first, but was missing my doses of uThermal. Glad to see you back in startcraft.
For game 1, if he was just going to sit there, you could have surrounded the base with spores, just out of vision, and then driven him into the spores with the queens!
I saw a Protoss- either Hero or Astrea- taking a non-gold proxy on Equilibrium. Feels like that's probably an underutilized play, since everyone is so focused on the gold-base will-he/won't-he question
I think you should be allowed a choice of 1 unit to support the infestors. Infestors are great but the energy can have a lot of down time in between. I would like to see some combos like rushing infestors lurkers/ultras/broods And maybe have a bonus challenges thats not required but worth trying like borrowing to mineral line and fungal or neural a worker and make a cc/nexus 😅 Also i think you should be allowed a few defensive banes vs zerg. Anyways just throwing some dumb ideas. Keep up the great content bro, always a great watch. 👍
I feel like this challenge would be more interesting if vipers were allowed. They'd solve some of the weakness to air, and the abduction could be really fun in conjunction with neural.
Yeah i have NO truck whatsoever when an opponent has definitely lost, but is dragging it out, for you to make whatever units are needed to finish them off. WHat gets me is you needed to make a whole spire, and then make the corruptors, and he STILL stuck around to drag it out.
Marc I think you should be able to make infinite queens!...like who doesn't want to see queens drops with overlords pooping everywhere on top of the ling infestors. Also I don't think anyone wants to see you loose to someone going air bc u can only make 6 queens. Imagine a queen infestor army dropping microbial shrouds and neural parasite grabs vs skytoss it already sounds epic
How about allow yourself to build any units from your opponent's race if you neural their worker and build a base :DDD Edit: oh good you said you'll allow that 😁
neuraling the vikings to kill their own medivac squad only to make the viking land and kill it after the deed was done was a betrayal most foul . what Arthas did to those ogres in Northrend doesnt even come close.
I think you need to need at least one queen per hatchery plus at least 1 queen for creep. after that you should be able to build enough to put some in the nydus especially at higher levels.
Mass zergling/Qeen to start map control. Use Queens to spread creep. Macro pending scout. By then the infesters should be ready…the creep spread and mass zergling/Qeen/infestor first wave begins 🤔🤷
Every time I see a caster posting "terran gets salty and refuses to leave" i'm always curious if it was me. Though if its uthermal playing me (i'm plat 2), i'd probably be right to be salty. I can usually tell in-game that i'm getting dunked on by somebody who's way too good to only be a division or two above me. And then you see the army supply graphs and APM post match "Ok yeah there's a chance that the 350 apm protoss with a vertical army supply graph and 80 workers at the 7 minute mark who also was harassing me constantly from 50 seconds until game over may not have been a legitimate metal league player."
If you neural the medivacs, can you heal your own units and deny a terran opponent their healing?? Might not be as efficient as hitting fungals, but when has a challenge like that ever stopped you??? 😂
I love your content. I'm not sure about the long term viability of this challenge though. I don't even know if this would help, but maybe include anything that ends in ling (banes, ultras). At the very least, banes would help break walls, ultras might mitigate some splash.
You should change the challenge to infestor ling swarm host, it's still just as challenging as you have anti fighting ground forces and I think would be more interesting to watch
So today I beat a Zerg player doing exactly this, don't think it was you but I was wondering haha, I opened with my meme ghost hellbat into BC into mech build and he held up pretty well but ultimately it was too big of a disadvantage
Since you said your creep spread is subpar, you should do a creep to gm series at some point. No ground units off creep.
Elegant solution to force uThermal into bettering his Zerg play with proper creep play 🤣
this sounds like a great idea

Game 1 looked like a "survive" campaign mission that your opponent lost.
