Needing an engine that early might give you pause, but when you sit down and think of it, it really is an anomaly. You rarely hear of something that extreme happening with the B58 and just consider how many of them are out there at this point. Been in production 9-years now and BMW has practically put it in most models they build.
If you could provide an update of how things have been since this video, that would be great. Honestly, there aren't a lot of people who have such a high mileage on the b58 motor. There are big claims on how reliable this thing will be. You could help all of us by clearing out the fog. Thanks :)
@@Thomz11 I absolutely love it. It's amazingly comfortable for the daily commute, and gets great fuel economy. Put it in sport mode and the handling becomes extremely sharp. I'm quite impressed with the car.

People prefer little Toyota cars here 😂 but I do all my own work. I just replaced plugs and oil, the pistons look clean. Went stage two and just bought my third set of rear tires already.👍

He didn't buy it zero miles I'm assuming and if you daily a car, then weekend car shows, meets, races, those miles add up tremendously....first year in my Corvette I did like 22,000 miles and had 2 other cars.....I stopped driving it for months lol then did just some off days & weekender

I have 37k miles and I go back with my mechanic about when certain things should be done. Ironically I’m the one who thinks certain things should be done earlier and it’s him, the mechanic that says no no no you don’t have to do that until x amount of miles...( which is usually higher mileage than what I hear to do something ). 1. Transmission fluid change? At what mileage and do you also replace other components related to trans fluid? 2. Front and rear diff fluids? 3. Transfer case fluid? 4. Engine air filter? 5. Fuel filter? 6. Coolant? 7. Intercooler fluid? This guy is real nice and he doesn’t charge much for a former bmw dealer tech but I sometimes feel that he will be happy just changing my oil every 5k and leave it at that and never suggest anything else. Now I know b58 generation is reliable but they certainly will eventually need things done I guess. Also doesn’t car itself tell me what it needs done through the DME? Thx
Hey man! Hope all is well, there is nothing wrong with replacing your fluids early. At your miles you don’t have much to worry about. I would do oil changes every 4,000 miles and the filter everytime specially because you are tuned. I would flush coolant every 40,000 miles fuel filter every 25,000 diff and transfer case every 75,000. I’ll have to check on the air to water cooler I’ve never dealt with it. But you don’t have much to worry about now besides oil filters and oil changes. I’m on a pure 800 turbo now. Car is still running great.
I also have a B58 4 series and recently I noticed a vacuum sound coming from the engine bay on the right side (pax). You can hear it also if you crouch down by the pax side front wheel I can also hear the vacuum sound. Do you have any idea what this could be? No check engine light is on by the way.
I just bought a 2016 with 18k mileage thinking of cancelling the extended warranty since it has such low mileage and car seems very dependable. Warranty is a lot for 50,000 or 5 years with $250 deductible
@@jeyx2511 not even! Just a local euro shop most of it was labor. I wasn’t confident in my abilities to do it myself plus I needed to get the car back on the road ASAP so I opt’d for the shop to do it.

Factory defect. Modern cars are plagued with these. This is why it’s better to buy 3-4 years old cars with all the factory defects sorted out, yet it’s still very new

Yeah probably a one in a million case. I wouldn’t worry about it if your car has over 30k on it
The newer bmw engines have bad internals I had n55 threw bearings at 135k
