I wonder why your channel has a lot less subscribers and views than what it really deserves. I mean, your videos and reviews are of high-quality, honest, and are really comprehensive. I greatly appreciate that you back up your reviews with science. You're one of my fave skin care youtuber. ❤️❤️❤️
I bought the LaNeige skin refiner from YesStyle. They did have the 50 ml size. I bought 3 50 ml sizes which was cheaper than buying the 150 ml size. I love the Hada Labo toners especially the Premium one in the gold bottle. I lock it in with an occlusive ceramide cream especially during the Canadian winters.
Hi Kelly, I love how thorough you are with your reviews! From the ingredients, texture, how to effectively use them. Wow. Really appreciate it. Can't wait for more skin care videos ❤️
I am not sure if it is a hyped up product but I mean it is from cosrx so it probably is haha anyway, I recently tried the COSRX BHA blackhead power liquid and I love it. It is very mild so it's already a good thing that it doesn't give me irritations, I can use it every other day without any problem. It is also surprisingly hydrating, I didn't chose this product for its hydrating properties so it's a really nice surprise. Lastly I can definitely see my acne becoming better. My acne is more like whiteheads and all about texture and bumps, but recently my skin was kind of panicking and I got some whiteheads that became inflamed (but I can't say I have severe acne either). With this product, I could see the whiteheads I was getting becoming smaller and smaller, and now I have less and less of them !
Yay!! Glad the BHA liquid is working so well for you, I really like that one too, gentle but effective!! I definitely find that pretty much every cosrx product is hyped to a certain degree! 😂
I have the Cream Skin Refiner. I have dry skin and it’s fairly nice but at the end of the day... it’s a watered down moisturizer lol. Once you emulsify an oil and water phase you have a moisturizer imo. I would have to say that I prefer the Hyggee One Step Essence in Balance over the Laniege though it does have a small amount of bergamot oil which can be photosensitizing if not processed in a certain way. I use it at night and it’s the only product in my routine that has a EO. I just find the Hyggee more hydrating and moisturizing personally.
It definitely knocked my socks off, although I have limited experience with many creamy toners or emulsions so for me this truly was impressive. I particularly compared it to a similar product (marketing wise), the cosrx toner to cream which claimed many of the same things but was such a massive fail ime!
Kelly Driscoll yeah everyone is different! Definitely not discounting your experience girl. I just meant for me that I found milky toners to lean heavily toward watered down moisturizers. I didn’t hate it but didn’t love it either. I havent tried that one from Cosrx. Tbh I’ve wondered away from them, I find that brands like Isntree and Iunik are very similar but have a better mix of beneficial ingredients. I was tempted to try that new gel cream that a lot of people were loving but just didn’t think it was for my skin type.
That Mizon eye cream was the 1st k beauty product I bought. Only in the last 2 years did I change to manyo factory egf and a hard to find snail eye cream by Hongik skin Saint Peau line which I like more for my aging dry skin. A lot if the over hyped spf k beauty products I've passed on due to their formulation. Just got Swanicoco daily soft sun milk 50++++ which is 50ml but in a teeny weeny pot. Handbag friendly! What about doing an under hyped k beauty vid Kelly. Secret products which are fabulous than no one talks about!? XOXO
Yasss an under-hyped one would be a nice video too, thanks for the suggestion, Ginger! I used to rely on Mizon products a ton but like you have sort of branched out and looked for more but Mizon definitely served its purpose!
Love your vid idea 😘 And my dry, sensitive skin loves Hyaluronic Acid, but I prefer Japanese Hadalabo Lotion in their Premium form. Their richer Premium Lotion is super hydrating 💦. But as always with HA products you should use it on damp skin and then seal all hydration with moisturizer/oil/mask on the skin. Esp. in dryer climate.
I just struggle with pure HA focused products no matter how I apply. The HA works throughout the day so even surrounding it with hydration for my skin that is prone to TEWL, it just doesn't work for my skin!
You’ve probably mentioned this before... but what first step 7 layer toner do you use or do you recommend for under $15 on either Amazon or Soko? 7, or even 3-5 layers goes through product fast and I need something on the less expensive side! I have dry and dehydrated skin. Too many product suggestions gets me so confused! Also, what is/why would you use a second toner? What are good second toner recommendations for my skin and how many layers should I use? I LOVE layering products and find my skin does best with this. But I don’t want to use too many layers or products! I also use an essence after my toners... then serum... here I’m finding myself getting confused with some products I have... for example, I have- The Plant Base Time Stop Collagen Ampoule. I’m not sure when to use this, if this replaces a product? I either don’t like this product or I’m using it wrong! Thank you SO much, Kelly. No idea what’d I’d do without you!!
Try secret key aloe toner, so effective and affordable! Not sure what you're looking to achieve by adding a second toner, you might be better off with an essence! Just do as many layers or "skins" that satisfies you skin's thirst, no magic number here, just what works for your skin. A trick for layering to remember is thinnest consistency to thickest!
How about the primers miracle seed essence? Its really expensive and fairly hyped have u tried this and if so would u recommend the splurge? Sorry I meant Primera miracle seed essence
I haven't tried it, I just did a quick look at the ingredients and looks good. You'd be surprised the amount of "icky" ingredients you can find in expensive products. I recently cam across a $120 dollar facial oil with denatured alcohol...🙄
I've been using the Mizon collagen eye cream, I got it as a freebie and I love the texture. I use it on my lips at night too! I think I'd like the Mizon snail eye cream too but as I'm 33, what would you recommend as an eye cream with that bit extra?
@@KellyDriscoll Yeah innisfree is working out for me!. I'm currently using green tea line which is amazing.. also using apple seed cleansing oil.. and I love innisfree super volcanic pore clay mask.. alongwith I'm from masks and few Cosrx products.. Yep I'm pretty loving innisfree.
I confess the skin refiner left me unimpressed... it is definitely an ok product and a very light weight emulsion but really any emulsion is at its core a "cream in a toner". There are comparable (cheaper) alternatives by SANA for example that I prefer as they are more one thing or the other. 4 instance I am using the Time Revolution Homme Emulsion by Missha which is a gel, not a liquid, but acts more convincingly as a moisturiser while feeling equally light.
I totally understand your point, everyone's skin is so different and I think that's truly the most interesting thing in skincare! I agree this can be treated like an emulsion, making it less innovative in that sense. This is certainly lighter than any emulsive I've tried, so maybe I need to try more emulsions! I personally had 2-in-1 products like the cosrx toner to cream in mind when I made that statement. I feel Laneige was able to execute that concept much better than cosrx!
Wowww I'm so happy I found your channel!! I've been fanatically into Kbeauty and skincare in general for a few years. I thought hyaluronic acid products doesn’t work for me as I also live in a low- humid area but for them to work for me, I mist my face with water first then apply the hyaluronic product. Or you can just directly apply it on newly-cleansed damp face.
i tried to like hada labo but it broke me out everytime i use it... been trying for months but everytime i don’t use it my pimples and redness calms hahahahaha gosh 😅
I've been using the Laneige Cream Skin Refiner for 2 weeks and it really does give me a glow the next day. I use a basic centella, hyalauronic toner from Miniso after it and it seems to make my face more moisturey.
They don't compare in my book, the cosrx is not hydrating or moisturizing and doesn't layer well in my experience. The laneige layers well, is thin and lightweight but brings a touch of hydration with a lot of moisturizing nourishment to skin. I also felt like laneige lived up to the claim of replacing some skincare steps and the cosrx (for me) really didn't.
I have heard good things about Manyo Factory 4GF working well on dark circles, I personally use and love that one but I don't have really dark circles that I can say for sure!
Sarah that’s completely dependent on the cause of the dark circles. If it’s shadowing caused by volume less or anatomy, nothing short of fillers will help significantly. If it’s actually pigmentation, you would want a product with ingredients proven to brighten skin and inhibit pigmentation.
I’m confused re: the PH on the Cosrx toner. Hopefully you see this and respond. Has their formula been updated maybe? It used to have a PH of about 3.8 iirc and there’s a post up on the Snow White and the Asian Pear blog from 2015 ish where she used a PH meter and got this reading. Currently the Cosrx website says the PH is 4 for the product. But yes agree completely, the AHA and BHA are both at .1% (think it used to be even lower even) which will not exfoliate whatsoever and they seem to think the 10% willow bark water and 10% apple water. Not their best product. It’s been a dud for years now and I can’t believe they have just discontinued or at least overhauled it.
I don't know about reformulations but I tested this myself and got a pH of 4.5 (there will be differences between batches and, of course, home testing has its limits) and I also have confirmed the official pH at 4 through other sources so safe to say it's a little on the high side! Definitely a dud for what they market it for, helpful if you need some pH prep before exfoliation but definitely not a necessary product!
Kelly Driscoll I think it’s likely they raised the PH a bit as I recall that many found it irritating when it was under 4. I would hope a batch wouldn’t be so far off from the marketed PH 4 on their site and that maybe it’s at home testing but who knows. Yeah, I know that many who know it’s not an exfoliant use it as a PH adjusting step but I’ve never personally bought into that. Everyone should be using a low ph cleanser ideally to minimize disruption of the skin but I tend to be of the opinion that chemical exfoliants are designed to be used on typical conditions for human skin. Which includes a PH of 4.5 to 5 or so. I think when you use a PH adjuster you risk increasing irritation. I’ve also never been a fan of “wait times” which are considered a must in some K-Beauty circles. But hey, whatever works.
hi Kelly, what is your favorite aha exfoliator? it is so true about the cosrx one, for that price i rather stick with the etude house soon jung one, cheaper and 180ml and it does not come in a spray bottle!
I am so torn apart because of the laneige cream skin. This product looks marvelous and I want to try it very bad. However I have decided to purchase from Cruelty-Free brands only and unfortunately Laneige sells in China so it isn't ;-;
Hibout' Chou Hyggee is cruelty free and they have some beautiful essence toners with a blend of hydrating ingredients and oils. The Balance version is my favorite.
