    I use Klairs because they said it's good for sensitive skin but end up the essential oils in most of their skincare was the reason my skin are sensitized!!!

    • @KellyDriscoll
      @KellyDriscoll  5 лет назад +11

      It's so frustrating, isn't it? I really like Klairs products but those essential oils have to go, they really have no place in sensitive skin products. I was happy to see Klairs release 2 new products this past month that were essential oil free, so hopefully they're turning over a new leaf!

    Thank you for explaining why you didn’t like a product, and not knocking it entirely- unless it really deserved it! We’ve all avoided products because someone else had a bad experience, but I appreciate your open mind. I’ve learned to take ingredient lists with a grain of salt, because ingredients like silicones have different sizes of molecular grades- the biggest one for me is silicone. I had a bad experience with silicon and avoided it for awhile, then learned that a better quality silicone in products not only doesn’t break me out, but I LOVE in the right product and layer! It does make it hard to read an ingredient list as good and bad say the same thing, that’s where brand knowledge and research can help.

  • @perfumaphilia3246

    Sad to say, CeraVe products are on my banished list. I know a lot of people swear by them, but every one I've tried has made my skin sting and itch (the much beloved hydrating cleanser was actually the worst, strangely). It's very frustrating because their products have everything I look for in skincare, fit my skin's needs, my budget, and are highly accessible at the drugstore.
    And yes, let's please encourage companies to stop adding fragrance, particularly essential oils, to their products. Why ruin a perfectly good product by adding an irritating ingredient with zero skincare benefits? Ughh.

    • @KellyDriscoll
      @KellyDriscoll  5 лет назад +1

      Oh no! That's what's particularly interesting to me in skincare, how individual everyone's skin can be! Yeah the essential oils issue... I guess I just feel like it's better to leave them out because as you said they have no benefits for skin and mostly just benefit the companies formulating products that don't smell like feet... But I feel like essential oils in skincare are like playing with fire... eventually you'll get burned.

    • @GretchenVaughn
      @GretchenVaughn 5 лет назад +2

      Angie at Hot and Flashy says that the cleanser began to sting as something in the formulation changed. Dr. Dray claims it hasn't, but tiny changes such as a single ingredient or change in machinery make a big difference.

      @@GretchenVaughn Oh really? That's interesting, thank you for that information. I love Angie! I tried that cleanser about a year ago, don't know if that was before or after the possible reformulation. I do have very sensitive skin, and that product burned on contact, which I never expected from a brand geared toward people with my skin type and such thoughtful formulations. I hate when brands switch things up.

    • @GretchenVaughn
      @GretchenVaughn 5 лет назад +2

      Babyfacial really needs to be banned in the US. It was a nightmare after only two uses. It's how I found out about Korean Skincare because I had to learn what happened. I found Timeless Skincare 20% Vitamin C Serum to be much more effective than the C-Firma, albeit it could still be irritating. Drunk Elephant makes me nuts because they refute anyone on social media that any skin irritation is due to you still using "the big six" bad ingredients from somewhere else.

    The product that really messed up my skin was the Neutrogena Hydro Boost sunscreen. I ALWAYS read ingredients, but for some reason I was taken in by the name of the product, and by the 50 SPF that I neglected to read the ingredients. Third ingredient listed is denatured alcohol! It destroyed my skin. It started with a rash on my neck which migrated to my face. It took me 3 weeks to get my skin feeling better, but my skin has never been so bad - my neck looked like dried chicken skin and was peeling and itchy. I haven’t had acne for almost 6 months and I got a massive breakout. The saver for my neck was LaRoche Posay Cicaplast balm, and for my face I loaded up on moisturizing toners, and Apieu Madecassoside Cica gel. I also started using the Laneige cream skin toner on your recommendation - I love it!

    It's not K beauty but the faaaamed cetaphil gentle cleanser. I have rosacea, cystic acne, psoriasis, and extremely reactive skin when it IS behaving. Every derm I've ever been to has insisted I use it and finally the grocery I go to had travel sizes. $3 isn't bad to try something I've been told up down and sideways would be perfect, right? Total waste. Skincare JAIL. Do not pass go. It absolutely burned like crazy and the next day I was broken out in red bumps. Ugh. I don't like being totally negative though so I will also say my holy grail. The Glow Recipe blueberry bounce cleanser actually made my skin perfect and I need to reorder it. No psoriasis patches, no rosacea, no acne, and totally happy and baby soft skin.

    • @KellyDriscoll
      @KellyDriscoll  5 лет назад +1

      Wow really, that sucks!! I have heard the cetaphil cleanser has a high pH level so that was surprising info considering its reputation for being perfect for sensitive skin! 😱I must admit, I'm surprised to learn Glow Recipe worked so well, but that just goes to show you that it will always come down to ingredients and formulation!

    • @GretchenVaughn
      @GretchenVaughn 5 лет назад

      The funny thing about the Cetaphil cleanser is that it doesn't clean at all. My hands were really dried out so my derm told me to use it. My hand towel was black!

    I've been really wanting to get the by Wishtrend 5% Mandelic Acid Prep Water toner but I've seen some not so good reviews and I question why because the ingredient list looks so good. So I opted for maybe getting The Ordinary Mandelic Acid + HA (it's getting humid where I live so maybe the HA could work:DDD) Ive seen alot of good reviews:D

      I finished a bottle of The Ordinary Mandelic acid a while ago and it worked super good for my sensitive skin! Didn’t repurchase because the shipping from beautybay takes a month and a half to my country :( and got Isntree AHA essence, which is sadly too strong for me (has glycolic+lactic acid). So I really recommend The Ordinary one!!
      I think I will rebuy it instead of trying the Wishtrend one 🤷🏻‍♀️

    Hello Kelly dear, Skincare Jail lol lol lo rotfl. Well so far I had one product in skin care jail because I thought It was drying my skin but I gave it a second chance and discovered it was not this product that was drying my skin but misting, so it got liberated qnd I actually love it. Its the innisfree gree tea seed serum. Its a great product. And I learned my lesson on misting of course. So far I dont have other k skin jail products but I do have the mandelic acid and the klairs toner in skincare waiting lounge. It does get me a little bit nervous now because I am aware of the risks of essential oils and alcohol denatured in products more and more. So well see how those behave when I try them. I did buy a local product though that was an aloe vera toner and decided to use it and the minute I opened it it had such a strong scent that I did not like at all. So I decided to use it on my feet and legs, and yes it was working fine until.. I realized my toenails were completely dry and flaky. This is not normal in any way. They were teeerribly dry and that really scared me. I did stop using this toner and applied oils and cremes on my nails and they healed on three days only, they went back to normal. So I really got scared of this product because if it did that to my nails what would I expect it would do to my skin, way too strong, and it was supposed to be an aloe vera toner! Well this product went to skincare jail and was completely sentenced to death and went down the drain. Same thing happened to a very boogie perfumed cream From a renowned brand I was gifted. It was truly boogie perfume in a cream. I used it on my legs and arms and boy did it smell good and veeryy perfumy. But the itchyness specially at night was unbearable, also was decapitated, sniff. None of these two were k beauty products. But I do understand now the hazards of alcohol qnd frwgrance in products. Havent encountered I think yet essential oils but am more and more conscientious on the topic now. Will try the mandelic and the klairs with caution. Thank you for thinking about us the ones that live in other latitudes. Yes its difficult to have access to some products and am grateful to see recommendations of products I can actually buy. Well I did rant a little bit too but I hope that for the good of people reading, to be more educated on fragrances especially, smell good does not mean good product, on the contrary it could be harmfull if frwngrance and or alcohol is added. Lets not learn the hard way folks, have a great night Kelly dear and may God bless you always, xoxo mili

      Misting has definitely left me feeling dry too, I'm always confused by it because in theory it could help my skin a lot but it just doesn't seem to be the case, maybe a more moisturizing formula could help! I still indulge here and there, especially on a hot day but it's best to avoid! I'm shocked that aloe vera was drying out your nails! That's definitely not a good sign and glad you didn't use it on your face! 😱Definitely give the mandelic and klairs a try and see what you think!

    Sandalwood EO is not “nasty” as you put it. It’s a perfectly safe oil IF used correctly, similar to all EOs. It’s probably the formula of the product that did not work for you as a whole.

    • @KellyDriscoll
      @KellyDriscoll  5 лет назад +2

      Sure, but when looking at the potential to irritate the fragrance compounds have a higher potential to irritate than say tea tree oil which to me makes it more of a wild card that shouldn't be present in sensitive skincare. All essential oils are considered safe to use but as you also mention it has to do with formulation!

    • @mistress.villaina7591
      @mistress.villaina7591 4 года назад

      i agree but sandalwood eo is one of the most adulterated oils in the world due to the tree being endangered. i wouldnt trust most sandalwood fragrances for that reason unless it's sold by a highly reputable source that can tell you where they are sourcing it from.
