    in my case when i tried with this command "esxcli software vib update -d /vmfs/volumes/datastore3/" it worked, thanks

    thank you a lot, but the installation option can impact the license or not. thank you

      If you proceed with the patch, no need to update the license. but when you try to update major version you need to update license from Customer Connect(MyVmware).
      Log in to Customer Connect > Select either Products and Accounts >Account > Manage Licenses > Select one license key folder > select Upgrade > Select the quantity of licenses you want to upgrade > Continue
      ESXCLI command can use on any ESXi host not depending on the license type.
