- Thousands of people in western Canada are facing the wrath of wildfires this week amid severe drought.
Some six thousand people were told to evacuate Fort McMurray, Alberta, where 90,000 residents were forced to flee during the 2016 wildfires.
More than 3,000 others were ordered to leave Fort Nelson, British Columbia, where a fire is burning 2.5km (1.5 miles) from the town.
Shifting winds are now expected to push wildfires away from Canada’s major oil producing region.

Many of the fires are human caused.
The Fort Nelson fire in BC was started by downed electrical wires when high winds knocked a tree over into lines.

... It ISN'T arson. The Great White North has had a dirge of snowfall this winter and not nearly enough rain. Insufficient moisture in a big, heavily forested area is a guarantee of bush fires ... it happens in Siberia, California, Northern Europe and Australia on a regular basis, and while arson is always a possibility in ANY fire, it isn't required under tinder-dry conditions.

You aren't wrong , I live 15kms from the fire and this woman is building this up to be some catastrophic event that climate change has created . It's been dry and cold and today it's raining with another 4 days worth on the way . People in communities backing onto the bush were evacuated so they could put fire controls in place and install structure protection . This woman needs to stick to what's happening in the U.K.
