Exactly, and Japanese people are VERY understanding of mistakes made by foreigners. They might tell you bluntly or ignore it, because they just want you to have a good/ authentic experience.
Of course they didn't expect them to do it very well in a day. They wanted them to have the experience, and of course it was designed to make good TV. Had nothing to do with whether or not they could actually perform it well. Lol... no hate, just pointing out perspective. Top Model did all sorts of wild "challenges" and "cultural experiences" over the years... until it just got toooo cringy to keep up with reality/reality TV.
These people were HORRIBLE! I used to watch it ever week (often marathons) Oh, tyra Banks, is an activist and an alley for teens? Does anyone remember that awful talk show? Constantly disrespecting people (most notably for me was the ambush she hit Naomi Campbell with) embarrassing actors , singers and hurting these young women she claims to champion that she I expect Janice to be an axe wound, and I think that's part of her venomous behavior - Unlike these other vulture that are fine with the @**sive . Now Mr Jay... He presents himself in such a reductive., utterly false manner that seems to be the essence of the fashion industry (not to mention the entire decade - i mean I get it, I had the best years of my life during all those, crazy years. I just find it totally bizarre that this was the culture and how I forgot how rotten it was. Ps : I still kinda love it and will watch to do so. 😅
The tea ceremony teacher's intonation of "that's a mistake" has lived rent free in my brain ever since this episode first aired. Whenever I make a mistake, I whisper it to myself in her voice. I cannot stop. And if I do something especially, egregiously stupid, it's "nobody has made...that...mistake before"
Norelle actually became a successful model in Japan. So why the judges talk against what the Japanese designer said is so funny. She knows, because she's part of the industry. Norelle has that youthful look that they love in Japan, at least in the 2000s. And I can totally see what the designer means. She has the look and personality.
It really annoying for her that two people were fighting and using her as the back drop. Not really fair to someone not involved in this fight. I feel like Tyra was there to plant a fighting seed. I don’t like her and how she wants them to fight each other. That’s reality shows
I like that the Japanese designer did give her a compliment. I was getting tired of people insulting her. She seems very nice despite not being as worldly as the others. I never traveled at that age either.
The guest judge saying that Norelle would be popular in Japan and then Nigel immediately saying well this is America's Next Top Model was so rude. But Nigel was always productions pawn.
It's crazy how the other girls tried to call Norelle fat? And then she actually literally could have been a model IN ASIA like she fits most Asian beauty standards pretty well
Did they at least TELL Norelle what the designer said about her career potential in Japan? If they didn't, I mean I wouldn't be surprised, but ow cruel. Nigel was so rude to clap back at that designer with "Well it's AMERICA'S Next Top Model!" 🙄
Next Top Scandal Girls is my absolute favorite of the reactions. Undoing all the hideous trauma that this show inundated me with as a child model feels incredibly freeing for me as an adult model.
I can’t believe I didn’t see all the setups when I watched this as a young’n. The way Tyra just casually stirred that chaos up and strolled out like “byeeeee” 😅
As someone who has battled insecurities and had a - modest - modeling career, I just wanna say to anyone who's ever been a victim of hate / violence because of their appearance, gender, orientation, race: DO NOT ever let a hateful notion 'there's something wrong with me' sink in. Trust me, it's a recipe for self hatred. When we suffer and we need a break, it's only natural to think: maybe if I wasn't 'different', if I was 'normal' I would be accepted. No, haters will always find something else to prey upon. I've always had kinda androgynous look, which was a fuel for bullies when I was growing up. I embraced it, used it to my advantage in my acting / modeling career, I was almost the face of Leon in these new Resident Evil games :) Being 'normal' is boring! Beware of extremely toxic people around you who can see your potential and value but will drag you down with intent and hideus determination, when they notice a slightest sign of insecurity.
This is so incredibly inspiring. I’m glad you were able to shake off the toxicity. It’s so true though. There’s always going to be someone who doesn’t like us but honestly it only matters what we think of ourselves. ❤
I like Yaya, but girrl you can't brag about being humble xD And unfamiliarity is not aversion, especially when there's lots of things to remember and it can be overwhelming and uncomfortable to know you'll be perceived as "rude" or "classless" or "offensive" if you get it wrong. And I love your consideration for what Amanda may be experiencing. People just so often don't think about what people with disabilities go through and how the whole experience may be completely different
I'm at the part with the tea ceremony. I just wanted to say that the difficult thing about learning Japanese culture is that there are a lot of rules about how to do things. Some of it is rooted in Shintoism and some is rooted in politeness. In the case of the tea ceremony, the process is basically treated like art or a performance. I think the girls should get credit for trying because the number of exact gestures can be overwhelming. Even people in Japan notice that they have a lot of rules for things and there's a series online called "The Japanese Tradition" where Japanese comedians make jokes about different aspects of the culture. Matcha tea is definitely a taste that you have to get used to. These days I can get Matcha bubble tea at my grocery store but back then I'm not even sure if it was possible to get Matcha anywhere in the US. By the way, if you're interested, there is a reality show in Japan called "Year Zero Class 0" (0年0組, 0 nen 0 kumi) and in episode 5 there is a visual challenge where the contestants create outfits that express their style and the host Avu-chan judges their outfits. The test itself is in the second half of the episode. The first half is some drama.
You could get a ”green tea” latte or frappuccino from Starbucks (my fav) but it was not really listed on the menus. People were always confused what type of drink I got and turned off by its green color.
@@thisismyyoutube1846 No, definitely not at a Panda Express. To be fair there are a few restaurants that are are multicultural. There's a nice restaurant where I live that serves Chinese, Japanese, and Thai food; I've ordered sushi from there. So maybe Norelle got confused because of that. But yeah, Panda Express only does Chinese food as far as I'm aware.
I'm glad it's come to the US and ha gotten popular here. It's so darn good!! I got this cherry matcha from Davids tea oh my god, amazing. regular matcha just hits the spot. especially when it's cold out.
Exactly. Times change food trends and availability more than people realize, especially depending on your age and where you live. When my parents moved here (mid-Atlantic US east coast state) from SoCal in 1980, you "couldn't find a tortilla in the grocery store" (according to my mom, who uses that quote often, esp. when we talk about new restaurants or what different things I had available for the decade I lived on the coast for work or the few years I was up in DC). 20 years later, probably less, there were "international" food sections in the grocery, then whole aisles, and now they're not even labeled as international food 'zones' or aisles - just more food options! Frankly, I'd never heard of matcha until I moved to DC about 8 years ago. I'm well-traveled and studied, but living in a small coastal town for awhile, it just wasn't a "thing" you'd find at the local farmer's market or in the Piggly Wiggly - one of two grocers to choose from (just one of many reasons I eventually moved north). TLDR: absolutely agree, and thanks for the references/shows you mentioned - I'm going to google and look forward to having more things to check out! :)
Totally understand Amanda's tears in that moment. I'm diabetic and have been having problems with my leg, and yesterday I did the same when a physical therapist 'found' my patella (the moveable cartilage part of the kneecap) and he joked, "it's still there! It didn't disappear!" because I apparently never relax my leg enough to find it. But that struck a chord because losing part of my body is a real fear I have, and I burst into tears suddenly. That and I am back on estrogen after three years of skipping it, so 😅
I agree that Yaya's pose didn't translate very well, but her close-up was absolutely stunning. Especially since I thought the lighting was very weird, all of the photos except Tyra's looked much to dark & the focus also seemed a bit off to me? The closer crop of Yaya's photo was completely gorgeous imo
I am sure Ann struggled in the shoots, but they are clearly picking her worst shots on purpose. If u take 50-100 frames of a gorgeous girl like her... one of them surely will be decent. But her role this season is to be the heel. Shes the one the viewers will be tuning in everyweek to see if she goes home. So they have to pick wretched shots of her everytime to keep that storyline going. She had a flourishing career after top model, because w/o production sabotage, shes very very photogenic.
Interesting thing that I heard about Japanese culture is that if you're not having too much eye contact with and elderly person or anyone for that matter it's a sign of respect. As someone with social anxiety I found that fascinating and made me want to go to Japan even more because of my habit of not looking people in the eyes and face in general lol
I'm not sure if Korea is still like this, but I went through something similar as a korean kid cause at least for us, it was seen as aggressive or confrontational to be looking so directly at someone. If you're a kid, an adult or a person of authority isn't your equal, so to be looking at someone in the eyes was very disrespectful.
Your Megan costume looked amazing. My daughter actually wanted to be her for Halloween also but decided last minute to go with Anya from Spy X Family. She was adorable either way ☺️
That costume is on point, and the skeleton shaped award is hilarious 😂 As for ANTM, oh jeesh. Their unscrupulous editing game and their hyping up of drama is notorious. Fully blame them for the rise of EDs and body image issues during the size zero era. Hateful.
When I went on an itineraried, guided group trip to Japan this past summer we had a chance to do the tea ceremony. I sort of went in knowing that we were getting a simplified version meant for tourists but I had NO idea how detailed it could be. I had a lot of fun, learned a good bit, and the group that did it followed up with a more in-depth packet in an email if we wanted to read and learn more. I feel like not only did the production choose to put them in a more authentic ceremony for the comedy of them not getting it all first time, but they likely went and sought out one that was VERY rigorous.
I was surprised they didn't like Eva being vulnerable! They have gotten upset with girls in the past for being too stoic/ professional, and they just keep pushing until they break down and then "Yes! That's what we wanted to see!"
The aftermath of this episode is what got me to start watching Top Model in the first place when I saw an article on Norelle's elimination in Intouch magazine (or US weekly...) Shame she didn't make it a week further because the upcoming photoshoot is almost tailor made for her anime-esque looks.
Wow. Ann really just switched up here. It's crazy. I've seen her interview about what happened and honestly I think she was the one that was in the wrong. Like Eva has been acting pretty much the same and getting better. For Ann to say Eva is being "fake nice" then she had been nothing but nice to her as far as we can see gives me bad vibes but Ann gave we weird vibes from the start.
Especially when she's accusing Eva of being mean. The girl who mocked Cassie for her eating disorder, the girl who was a proud mean girl until her feelings started getting hurt at panel. Eva's not an innocent summer child, but Ann can shove her fake shock. And I don't know if it's the edit since we know who wins this season, but I just don't see anything from Eva that warrants the constant attacks she's getting from the other girls. She's said some bitchy things, but nothing that's going to land in a top ten or even really stands out in my mind as SO egregious that she's the problem child of the house. I have to assume she's either been edited to look nicer or the other girls were encouraged to see her in the worst light, like Yoanna's weird crusade against Camille.
To be clear before I say anything else: we have no idea what the full picture of what happened is behind production’s edits, and even if we did, we don’t have nearly enough information (and I am not a licensed professional either) to say any diagnosis is or is not accurate. That said, the way Ann *immediately* clung to Eva and declared them besties and then switched to strongly criticizing her is *reminiscent* of the splitting that is characteristic of BPD. Again, *I am not saying she has borderline personality disorder,* just that her behavior as presented in these production-heavy edits reminds me a lot of that particular aspect of the diagnosis.
@@kdkorz10211I think Eva was Eva and Ann was fine until she thought Eva insulted HER. Ann then even tried to triangulate the others against Eva. Ann also gossiped against others. I will say with Ann’s recent interview and watching Eva in Real Housewives of New Jersey Eva has grown and matured and Ann hasn’t. Norelle somehow has gotten worse (or she got a good edit on ANTM). I think Ann and Norelle are very emotionally stunted.
I always wondered if Tyra jumping in to show the girls how to pose was the producers doing to try and be like "Ooooh look at these poor girls but TYRA can do everything teehee"
I have a huge question. In this series, we’ve seen people react negatively to Yaya, calling her arrogant and such. She seems like a lovely person and quite intelligent. I can relate to her in this situation. How do you speak to others with knowledge and confidence, but not come across arrogant or annoying? This is a problem I face daily and it’s really hard. I’ve basically isolated myself from most people because I’m socially inept I guess. Any advice would be most welcome. Thank you. ❤
As someone who carries herself super confidently, it’s honestly up to how whoever you’re talking to perceives you. To some, I’m obnoxious bc of how loud and outgoing I am, but to most, especially the ones who took the time to know me, see me as solely confident and outspoken. It’s really just how others perceive you and not mostly how you carry yourself. Of course don’t go around acting like you’re “better than” anyone or anything else, but other than that just keep being you!
Honestly I think the key is humour, I carry myself confidently but I make my connections with people through something amusing usually, it’s a fine line to tread though 🖤
Tangent about the kimono in this episode, the pieces are exquisite. The girls during the ceremony are all dressed in furisode, which is generally a "Young, unmarried women" only kind of thing. but I feel like they were styled in a bit of a mature tone. Most of them are dressed wonderfully, the length of the garment in a formal setting and the girls being tall is a thing sadly, but as they say; shouganai (can't be helped) I do wonder, looking at some of the collars on the girls, if they were uncomfortable wearing it, or if the dressers were just rushed near the end. During the shoot, Despite I'm sure they're retired rentals or something of the sort. Most of the pieces used were wedding kimono (uchikake) and the sheer amount of work in them causes them to cost easily over a thousand pound. the skin-on-silk directly lowkey makes me want to cry just a little bit. Judging/runway. again furisode, and this time dressed impeccably, styled a little more like I'm used to for furisode. but probably because they only had to walk before taking it off again. again absence of visible ohashori (fold at/below waist) because of garment length and these girls being legs for days. The sizes on the garments actually vary quite drastically, where some fall small even on the girls, and like.. yaya's is basically the perfect size for hers, and they didn't show Eva's a lot but in the like one cut where it piled at her feet it looks like it's too long on her lol.
Lol all the things I was thinking too. The difference in the kimono dressing from the beginning to the end was wild. I don't think they were dressed more maturely in the tea ceremony, I think it was just super sloppy dressing. I think it wasn't really appropriate for them to be wearing Furisode for a tea ceremony to begin with, they're way too formal and not practical for an event like a tea ceremony. Houmongi would have been much better. I can only imagine the stuff falling out from their sleeves as they got up XD
@@moushimou3170 I mean it wasn't a Good Kitsuke by any means during the tea ceremony, impractical to all hell indeed. I have no idea what is and isn't appropriate during ceremony. I just wonder how rushed everyone was because a good dressser can have someone looking beatiful in like 20-30 minutes, and you can see they had the tools and garments availalbe. Those poor girls probably stepped on their sleeves a ton of times too, gosh. they could've gotten wonderful shorter pieces to match with the tea ceremony auntie, but nooo whatever designer deal they signed + a little project runway "Make it work" stubbornness
During the ceremony, houmongi would have been perfect, like all the other women were wearing and I'm sure that artist had houmongi in her collection. It honestly looks like they were missing vital structural pieces like obi stiffeners and collar stiffeners to help the kimono look proper, you can see the obijime digging into the obi and their stomachs, I'm sure they were missing padding too to give that cylindrical look to their thinner bodies, when the collars were touching the back of most of the girls necks, I could feel myself cringe, it made the front above the obi look so messy and chunky. I wonder if the kimono designer saw how messy the kimono looked during the tea ceremony and brought in her own dressers for her shows during the judging since the kimono were going to be much more focused on@@solishniwa
As a Japanese speaker I died on the inside hearing Tyra “teach” them ‘I’m hungry.’ It’s onaka ga suita, pronounced “Oh-naka” not “u-naka.” Literally cringing that she said it’s so important to respect the culture and doesn’t bother to actually teach them the right thing.
You know 100000% they NEVER told about that prospect of working in Japan, they can't risk someone they kicked out becoming better that their eventual winner!! Also Iove that we both started singing 'or another' at the exact same moment!!
October was such a miserable month, I lost my 20 year old Persian kitty, Neelix two weeks ago today, the global news has been harrowing, I’ve just been struggling… so THANK YOU for uploading an ANTM reaction video, I need this today! Your commentary always lifts me up and makes me chuckle ❤❤❤❤
The moment Eva shows some vulnerability is, of course, the moment Tyra suddenly turns on her… Also, I don’t know what time of year they went to Japan, but it gets extremely humid which can really drain your energy and for sure can mess with your skin and your make-up application and make you «look greasy» as a judge commented💦
Nostalgia isn’t always bad. It shows how far we have come as society where hearing the ‘R’ word is jarring. I’ve changed the way I speak as I have gotten older, and this is a reminder as to why they are harmful and have no place today as a slur. ❤
Luxeria, I often meal prep on Sundays, and your videos on America's next top Scandal always coincides with that and you have no idea how more fun it makes cooking. It's like a tradition now 😂❤
A part of me is happy that this episode wasn't chock full of problematic moments since they were in a foreign country. Only thing that made me pause was the photoshoot because of the history of Western designers and Western people using the kimono as a silky exotic bath robe (eroticizing the foreign a la Orientalism). I think Amanda's butterfly hair accessory is a nod to Madame Butterfly, who is the prototypical "exotic Japanese woman". If the photoshoot was spearheaded/greenlit by Japanese designers, though, then I can't complain.
a japanese tea ceremony is not specifically high society only, but more extremely practiced zen buddhist practice in japan where everything even conversations are rehersedd down to the dot. it takes months to properly prepare for a tea ceremony. The point is to focus on the momen and be super in the moment and the fact that this exact ceremony despite practiced will nerver happen again and will only be in that moment. it is a weird thing to do in a show. And amanda's take away is very accurate to what you are supposed to leave feeling.
In a competitive setting, I find the "I hope X does bad/screws up/etc" is not only just cruel and unsportsmanlike, but it does nothing to make you look good if you do "well". Because if someone does bad, how do you know you even did remotely great? Instead my mentality is always "I will be/do better" because I think of the high bar I want to set and if I can be better than someone who is trying their best then I am outshining more. Most people want to beat the best not the worst, because it shows your greatness more when the challenge is difficult. If you wanna best someone who you hope does bad then you really are not setting yourself up to be remotely remarkable, imo.
Yay! New America’s Next Top Model video! Best friends in a competition made me think of Season two of “Pussycat Dolls Present:” a singing and dancing competition. Season two had two contestants, Natalie and Chrystina as best friends. That was such a 2008 show, if I remember. The first season was “Search for the Next Doll.” Btw nice win for costume.
“You chase that bunny biscuit boy.” that was so cute. Also, I frekaing wish we could hang out! You're so funny and seem to be very fun to be around! Love your videos! You've become one of my favorite people. ❤
Congratz on your gorgeous skeletal trophy! Really cool to see you express your(meganly)self with another hair color (especially since you're rightfully precious about that glorious white mane). Also, glad to know I'm not the only one coaxing their dog to follow their literal dreams.
Made my bummed out sunday better :) have been a mixed bag of emotions after getting br3ast augmentation done, not being able to properly workout is rough on the mental health! Very much appreciate the little escape.
I found your ANTM series about a week ago, I finished all the past episodes/seasons & now I'm finally caught up! I also started Dr 90210 & The Swan. You are the moment in my home lmao
Panda Express is in most western countries. I first came across it in Mexico but also in the USA & Dubai. And it IS a Chinese place! (It’s also yummy!!)
Omg Tyra actually said the most valuable thing that she ever has. Often friction with other people stems from them reflecting a trait you dislike in yourself. It's psychology 101. And self awareness; or Tyra's "I check myself" is key to self improvement and compassion.
I had a psychologist when I went through rehabilitation for a debilitating chronic illness, and she said it slightly differently, which makes the explanation similar, but a tad deeper (or broader, if you wish). She called those we have friction with "mirrors". Meaning it isn't just a trait you might dislike in yourself (seeing yourself), but - as we see ourselves inverted in mirrors - also something that we're missing and maybe wish we had. Either knowingly or unknowingly. Initially, I considered the second part ridiculous until I really gave myself pause to think through some of my altercations with, for example, colleagues I couldn't stand. It isn't always true. Sometimes people are quite simply a-h*les, but I thought that was an interesting take on friction. I've never stopped using that mirror analogy. It has really helped me let go of irritation, and I understand others and myself more. You're exactly right, self- awareness is an important 'tool' towards self-improvement and overall compassion for others.
Ooh, I love a traditional Japanese Ryokan; my Son and I are supposed to visit Japan in December 2025 and spend Christmas and New Years there. As I snore quite loudly, I can't stay in a capsule hotel 😂 so we're looking for inexpensive places that I can stay in. My Son will stay in capsule hotels as much as possible, but I think he's going to hate it. I asked a friend who has lived in Japan for 10 years if sleeping on tatami will hurt my damaged back, but he assured me that I'll find them comfortable and back-friendly. Now I'm just 🤞🏼 my health doesn't tank again as it did when we were supposed to go 2 years ago.
Growing up watching this show really fucked up my self-esteem/self-worth and I ended up with an ED that took until my early 30s to break away from. I am genuinely scared for gen z and gen alpha following suit since fashion and trends cycle so often.
Same!!!! I'm about 5'7, and weighed around 118 in HS, and my mom told me I could audition if I lost another 20 pounds. I didn't even see it as an insult, it was more commentary on how ridiculous the standards are, but looking back I was too skinny and I'm glad I grew out of that. I'm too short anyway tbh 😂
@@jbear3478btw i’m 5’7 too, but i’m 14. eva is 5’7 and (spoilers) she wins this season! she’s under the average height of most models but she still won!
Ok to be honest I was like, they are doing their best on the tea ceremony. But when they both washed their faces in the hot springs my heart dropped. A flood of questions entered my head. Did they bath before getting in the water? I bet the owner just drained and cleaned the after they left, but if you are going to a Japan please do not do this. Things like this is why some onsen don't take foreigners.
Wow I did not expect Japanese tea ceremony on ANTM! I've had the privilege of sitting in on a small Japanese tea ceremony class one time and it was wonderful. Matcha is one of the few types of tea I haven't delved deeply into at home, but it was so so nice when made for me at the class.
Wait, that's so crazy she got eliminated on the episode where she had a future in that specific industry. If I'm not mistaken, she did go on to do modeling work there! That's awesome. Also, so right on Lux's comment at the end. When I was 16 I thought these girls were full on adults. I was so wrong lol
For some reason "She's been at the ket" caught me so off guard, I cackled for like a solid minute and had to leave a comment about it. Love your vids Luxeria! 😍
The tea ceremony is trained over months this challenge was set up from the start. Typical reality TV of course but to expect perfection and expertness wow
Love the use of a gong (more of a continental Asian thing, but not so much with Japan) throughout this episode. They might as well add the stereotypical "oriental riff"! /s
the "think like you are a princess", I don't mind it it's apt, because that was the whole thing of geishas, there was a whole life of preparation to be a geisha most girls that trained to be geishas, could never get to that point they stayed as Han-gyoku or Maiko. because geishas were not only sex workers, they were also entertainers who would be seen as ethereal and unattainable, artists, musicians playing the zither, dancers, conversationalists, hosting tea ceremonies and projecting this idea of royalty while entertaining guests. the smallest, most tiniest part of a geishas work would be sex work, most of it was being an honorable host, entertainer and majestic regal respected presence, very rarely the would sleep with any of their clients. most Geishas were women, but there were male and female geisha.
Japanese culture is so elegant and beautiful! I’m half Korean and we have our own culture which is sometimes quite similar but I just love Japanese and Chinese cultures, they’re so interesting and rich with history
And as if she didn't see something hiding there and draw it out. Eva may not have been completely "on" at that end ceremony, but she wasn't near tears until pressed about it.
It takes people YEARS to master tea ceremony etiquette! And they expected them to do it in a day! Absolutely wild.

@@chaoticoverdrive27 Hi, thanks so much for this feedback.
Back then you could get Matcha, but certainly not at Panda Express! 🤣
The irony of Nigel saying this is americas next top model is many of the contestants made actual livings modeling in Asia
They absolutely did look like very unflattering lighting!
I also absolutely do not believe that was her best picture! If so, they had a bad photographer. I swear they set up girls to win or lose.
Yes like how does graceful yaya not have an amazing dance pose in the bunch? They just didnt want her doing g to well but she's done well in person
@@akira_ariga Thank you for sharing, that's facsinating to me
This couldn't have come in a better moment. Always helps with a horrible day. Thank you Luxeria
I'm so confused by Eva's critique. I swear Tyra has praised girls for crying and being vulnerable before.
Your Megan costume looked amazing. My daughter actually wanted to be her for Halloween also but decided last minute to go with Anya from Spy X Family. She was adorable either way ☺️
That costume is on point, and the skeleton shaped award is hilarious 😂
As for ANTM, oh jeesh. Their unscrupulous editing game and their hyping up of drama is notorious. Fully blame them for the rise of EDs and body image issues during the size zero era. Hateful.
Congratulations on winning best costume and you looked fabulous 👏🏽
It’s really just how others perceive you and not
mostly how you carry yourself. Of course don’t go around acting like you’re “better than” anyone or anything else, but other than that just keep being you!
Honestly I think the key is humour, I carry myself confidently but I make my connections with people through something amusing usually, it’s a fine line to tread though 🖤
27:59 I can’t imagine Tyra having a camp for young girls and talking sisterhood when she can be so mean and pick on people and their looks…
One of the winners of one of the later seasons went to her camp.
She gaslighted a whole generation of women 😂
The group confrontation scene felt like an episode of Untucked 😭🤣👀

I can't help now but call Nigel Barker, Nigelle Bi-squeesh 😂😂 I love it when Luxeria does this with names.
I’ve always felt that this season was All About Eva and her supporting cast. But I love your takes on these episodes! ❤
0:46 I SAW YOUR COSTUME ON INSTAGRAM!! You, Roly, Nova AND Olympia looked AMAZINGGGG!! 💕 you as Megan was eerily STUNNING 💕💕
Also Iove that we both started singing 'or another' at the
exact same moment!!
It's like a tradition now 😂❤
Omg the little perfect clips that you edit in from a million random places are EVERYTHING 🤣😂❤️
I cannot describe how excited I am after a long wait for the next Scandal Girls 😍😍😭
I was looking for this yesterday because I needed something to watch. Love this series!
I can't get over how cute Biscuit is! some Biscuit merch would be amazing
a japanese tea ceremony is not specifically high society only, but more extremely practiced zen buddhist practice in japan where everything even conversations are rehersedd down to the dot. it takes months to properly prepare for a tea ceremony. The point is to focus on the momen and be super in the moment and the fact that this exact ceremony despite practiced will nerver happen again and will only be in that moment. it is a weird thing to do in a show. And amanda's take away is very accurate to what you are supposed to leave feeling.
These videos alwsys come out just as I'm getting on the bus home from work
Absolutely perfect timing 👌❤️
These cycles were pre-Tyra hugging departing contestants and giving them the Fairy Godmother advice 😂
Thank god. I needed you today, Lux. It’s been a rough couple weeks.❤
🫂❤
Hope you’re ok 🤗 x
Yay! New America’s Next Top Model video! Best friends in a competition made me think of Season two of “Pussycat Dolls Present:” a singing and dancing competition. Season two had two contestants, Natalie and Chrystina as best friends. That was such a 2008 show, if I remember. The first season was “Search for the Next Doll.”
Btw nice win for costume.

Congratz on your gorgeous skeletal trophy! Really cool to see you express your(meganly)self with another hair color (especially since you're rightfully precious about that glorious white mane). Also, glad to know I'm not the only one coaxing their dog to follow their literal dreams.
It’s actually really expensive a difficult to get appointments to be a part of the tea ceremonies these days

Very much appreciate the little escape.

Funny how the designer say Norelle can have a big career in Japan because of her look and the judging panel is like : Send her home anyway !!
Congratulations on best costume!! I almost didn’t recognize you at first when I saw the picture on Instagram

Tea ceremony is for the rich rich and high society. Especially, all these steps. In japan sleeping on the floor was way more comfy than the beds!
I can't wait for the bins clip. it's my favorite clip and never fails to make me laugh every time I see it.

Lots of love form Argentina, Lux ❤

Oh and the moon girls! That part made me chuckle 😂
Hello, I'm so excited. Can't wait to giggle with you!!!
Going to Japan next year and Im so excited, makes watching them there even more fun
That trophy is most excellent! Never saw a trophy i wanted until now. Well done Lux😎💜
The tea ceremony is trained over months this challenge was set up from the start. Typical reality TV of course but to expect perfection and expertness wow
I remember hearing about similar customs issues from Cycle 1 when they traveled to Paris, but the fact that it happened TWICE??
Love the use of a gong (more of a continental Asian thing, but not so much with Japan) throughout this episode. They might as well add the stereotypical "oriental riff"! /s

The conversation about eliminating at the end felt unusually brutal.
Another great SCANDEL girls video! I remember being obsessed with this show in my teenage years.
the "think like you are a princess", I don't mind it it's apt, because that was the whole thing of geishas, there was a whole life of preparation to be a geisha most girls that trained to be geishas, could never get to that point they stayed as Han-gyoku or Maiko. because geishas were not only sex workers, they were also entertainers who would be seen as ethereal and unattainable, artists, musicians playing the zither, dancers, conversationalists, hosting tea ceremonies and projecting this idea of royalty while entertaining guests. the smallest, most tiniest part of a geishas work would be sex work, most of it was being an honorable host, entertainer and majestic regal respected presence, very rarely the would sleep with any of their clients. most Geishas were women, but there were male and female geisha.

Tyra chastising Eva for being emotional as if she doesn’t feed off of young model tears 🙄
And as if she didn't see something hiding there and draw it out. Eva may not have been completely "on" at that end ceremony, but she wasn't near tears until pressed about it.
