I wish they would put a pickup bed on a F550
I have an F550 with a pickup bed. It is my understanding it was a semi custom build.
Put a pick up bed on a Kenworth W900L instead
There’s a company that makes them.
The classy chassis is for the F550 with a gooseneck is the way togo... Ford would need to do a Limited and or Platinum to make since in the new RV world 🌎 of luxury
Check out Elevation Off Grid. They make a F550 conversion but it is fucking PRICEY (like $175k pricey!)! It’s really cool and comes with Liquid Springs upgrade. You can get it in two versions but holy hell thats a lot of money!
Absolutely LOVE that truck! I miss my 350 dually that I had setup like that…….looking for another one realizing that the dream car I got in place of it just isn’t practical for my lifestyle right now. You live and learn!! Appreciate your input.
Kraig, thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I appreciate the kind words… Once you own a truck it’s hard to go back to a car. Even with higher gas prices. Lol Thanks again!
Thank you for this video!
Great looking truck! If you go to your local truck stop if they have a mechanic shop or just a local diesel mechanic that works on 18 wheelers you can get extended valve stems installed on your inside rear wheels and it will make a big difference.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment. I’ll look into that idea.
Nice HONEST video. I just got a f550 dually chassis with CM haul/tow bed. Absolutely luv it!!!
I currently have an f350 xlt LWB and prior had a 2021 f150 limited...
Just get an f450 and be done with it. You feel safe and co fident to do what ever you have to do. Protect your interest and family with the appropriate rig. Great resale value and like he said that turning radius is a deal.closer on its.own.
Just completed a 600 mile trip towing a 30 ft trailer... Semi trucks and other obstacles were never an issue. Didn't even feel it.
Anyhoo my 2 cents. Cheers from ATL.
Scott
Great review I would recommend a dually to anyone pulling a trailer that extra stability pays for itself.
Thanks for the great video! We have the 2019 SRW F-350 and have been searching for our signature red and can’t find one in the dually. We are also part timers and the truck is Bryan’s daily driver, so that’s why we went with the SRW. We are pushing the payload now that we installed solar, so we are on the hunt! Great info on the wheel upgrade. We did that for his truck last fall and love the fancy wheels and tires.
Hey guys! Thank you for watching! Since we’ve had the dually, with some exceptions, it hasn’t bothered us like we thought it may have. We always park far away from other vehicles, as to avoid door dings. Lol We are happy with our new wheels and tires. Michael is looking forward to pulling the fifth wheel and we both can’t wait to see how it rides. We hope you all find a signature red truck! Thanks again!
Great video, well done. I’m waiting on my 22’ F450 I ordered in Lariat trim, very excited! I’m upgrading from a 97’ F250 so it’s a game changer!
Thank you! Nice! Congrats on the new purchase! You’re going to love it! Let me know when you pick it up and your thoughts on it. Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment.
Great vid. Thanks for sharing. Awesome & great-lookin truck. Cheers!
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment!
Thank you for sharing. I almost pulled the trigger on the same fifth wheel but had to back away. Nice setup and look forward to the next video.
Greg, thanks! We appreciate you watching!
Greetings from Salisbury NC!
Excellent video.
Hello from Greensboro! Thanks for watching and saying hello.
Thanks for the vid. We sold our home at the peak of the market in April this year after buying in Jan 2021 (52% increase) and looking at getting a truck + toy hauler to live in. Possibly get a piece of land and build a home, but have the toy hauler to live in / travel with after the fact. Fun to see others do similarly
Great info on the 450
Thank you so much! We appreciate you watching! 👍🏻
Thanks Mike! Keep these videos coming. We tow a 42’ Grand Design Solitude. It’s interesting to see how many people think four wheels is just as good as six for big RVs. No concept that each wheel can handle so much weight. Also not understanding the difference in stability bc of the wider footprint.
We also went with a black 2022 Platinum. My wife did not care for the Admiral Blue interior. She wants to work for Ford on picking color palettes. LOL 😂
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. Good points you bring up… understanding how much weight each axle can carry is super important. Also, having a wider footprint with a dually adds better stability. I’m glad you have a black platinum too! Maybe your wife should apply for a interior design job with Ford. 😂 Thanks again, Michael
My dream truck right there!
Beautiful truck and a great video!
Thank you! I appreciate you watching.
Love it.. Beautiful truck 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
God Bless You. That's a Beautiful Truck you have there. Congrats. 🙏🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Thank you so much! We appreciate you watching and leaving a comment! God bless you all too! 👍🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for the very helpful share...
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Bought a '19 450 Lariat a couple of years back. It's an awesome truck. Great sight lines, great HMI, and you can take long trips and not arrive all beat up.
That was a very good overview of the Ford F-450 and how it works with your FW. It’s interesting to see the whole rig as it’s very similar to ours. We have a 2020 Riverstone Legacy 38RE (2 axles) with the Crimson Knight full body paint and we tow it with a 2019 F-450 with stone gray paint and it has the Limited trim package. We bought that model because of the same reasons you did. One other thing that makes it slightly heavier is the larger half axle’s to the rear wheels. We have the original wheel style, but the first set had to be changed because of corrosion around the stems. I just noticed that the replacement wheels are doing the same thing and will probably have to get them changed again or go to something better. Thanks for the video.
Mike, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Kris and I love to meet fellow “Stoners”. We love our Riverstone! Sounds like you all have a great rig setup too. That’s a bummer that you’ve had issues with the wheel. I hope you can get to bottom of it. Keep in touch. Our email is mkexp7@gmail.com. Thanks again, Michael
I 1000% agree with Mr. Washburn. This is by far the best video i have ever watched in youtube. Good job Sir!!
Thank you, Henry! I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment.
I transport rv's for a living. the long bed single rear wheel f350 is adequate to pull any fifth wheel, or bumper pull rv. However in my opinion the dullys are far superior to a single rear wheel truck, in example if you have a rear tire blowout the other tire will carry you to a safe haven where with a single rear wheel truck you'll be stuck on the side of the road.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Good points! Safe travels!
NICE TRUCK AND FIFTH WHEEL. THANKS FOR THE TAKE ON THE FORD.
Thank you! We appreciate you watching.
Nice job great video good luck with your truck. I. Currently have a 2019 F350 long bed. With puck system ,
Thank you! I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment. Good luck with your truck as well.
Glad you did this video, I have a 40’ 5th wheel that I pull with my Ram 2500 Limited. Going to step up to a DRV Fullhouse and was looking at the F450. Was wondering if it would be enough truck and I think you answered my question.
I have a F350 Dually and also upgraded to 20" wheels and 37" tires. I am running Ridge grapplers but when not hauling anything i run the tires at 35lbs rear and 40 lbs in the front. Vehicle drives and rides so much better. no need to put maximum pressure in the tires unless you are under max load.
Tim, thanks for watching and leaving a comment! Sounds like a great setup… Do you pull an RV? If so, what brand and size?
Your salesman knew you needed the dually , but loved the idea of you trading it in and buying bigger.
Beautiful truck, love the new wheels and tires. We also have the same Nittos as well. Enjoyed the video!
Thanks guys! Have you all liked the way the Nitto tires handle on the road? Thanks again for watching. - Michael
@@mkexp. They ride pretty smooth and are not very loud. However, I feel like because they are softer, they dont feel quite as stable when pulling heavy loads as my Toyo AT's did. The Toyo's just seamed a little more planted I guess you would say, at least in my opinion. However, not a big deal really. They are supposed to last a little longer than many other brands. I think you will like them.
@@ChosenAdventures Thanks for the feedback. I’m looking forward to pulling the fifth wheel and seeing how they feel.
Great truck my friend... Love the toy hauler aswell
Thank you so much!
I installed air bags on my 2017 F250. Two words...Game changer!! I imagine it will be for your F450 as well. I also learned from this upgrade that I'll never own another truck (even if 1/2 ton) without air ride again. Just my 2 cents. Great video!!
Kelvin, thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I had airbags installed on an F350 I used to own. The definitely make a difference. I might be doing it again. Thanks again!
Wym airbags like for safety or?

Love the video!! I have a Beacon on order so I'm trying to decide between a F-350 and F-450 and this actually helps..... Thanks!!!
Thank you! I appreciate you watching! The Beacons are nice fifth wheels. 👍🏻
Consider an F350 DRW, my payload is just under 5400 lbs.
@@deancobb9453 he won't be anywhere near his payload capacity limit with the F450 and anyone that has experience maneuvering a long trailer knows that turning radius is a great asset to have. The F450 is just better for towing and backing and that's not even considering the commercial tires that handle far more weight.
I’m here salivating at the truck 😎🙈🫣love the color and wheels.
Thank you so much!
Great video
Great truck and trailer!

I learned a lot from the BTBRV channel when it comes to comparing the 350 and 450 dually
That’s a great channel. I’ve watch it too.
I own that midnight f250 lariat and not a fan of chrome, but this beast of yours is an absolute masterpiece.
Thank you so much!
Great video. Beutiful truck.
Kevin, thank you!

just swapped from a ram 2500 to a 2022 F450. Power is crazy, truck is amazing. Great vid.
Jeremy, Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. The F450 has some great torque!
Best looking truck around...hands down. What a beast!
Nice intro, badass truck
Thank you so much!
Awesome ride. Some of your choices are not to my taste, but different strokes for different folks. Really enjoyed the video.
Roy, thank you! Appreciate you watching and leaving a comment.
Thanks for this video, I have ordered the same exact truck, F450 black platinum. It should be here in June. I wanted to upgrade my wheels and tires also. This gives me good information as to what I can do with my new truck. We have a Grand design momentum 399th with a 20,000 lb GVWR. Excited for it to get here.
Sounds like you all will have a great rig! We appreciate you watching and thanks for leaving a comment. We love our F-450! You’re going with the right truck then! What’s the pin weight on the 399th?
Did you get your F450 Platinum? I am waiting for superduty order book to come open for 2023.
I love the honesty and humility in this video. Absolutely sweet truck too!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching. 👍🏻
I prefer my regular cab 250 xlt's. I roll solo.
Nice 450. I’ve owned lots of 450s but got to the point on trim levels where for the money, interior colors, and options I wanted, it was best to go to the Limited.
Thanks for watching! The Limited is a great trim package. 👍🏻
Limited is the ultimate trim
I had to get mine in a hurry before a 5,000 mile trip across the country. I was looking for a Lariat or King Ranch, but all they had left were Platinums. Great timing though. It was the last 2019 they had, and they were just unloading the first 2020's when I was at the dealer. Earlier in the year, they weren't budging off of MSRP on pricing. That day, they offered me $25,000 off! Got the Platinum for what a fully loaded Lariat would have cost!!!
@@wj2791 I have a 2019 F-450. I got the 2019 because I didn't want to get the first model year production of the 10-speed transmission, and the final drive ratio is pretty much the same. I put in an AirLift air bag system, with EasyAir remote controlled compressor, and the Centric balancers on the front. I also put in the Banks RamAir, Derringer, and Peal monster systems, which are giving me an extra 10-15% improvement in fuel economy (18mpg running empty on the highway vs. 15-16 before). As expected, it rides like a truck... not terrible, but not as smooth as the F-350. Tows my 46'/21,000# toy hauler without flinching, and maneuverability is awesome.. That makes towing A LOT less stressful, and worth any ride quality you give up. From what Kevin says, my mileage while towing isn't much different than his.
Finally got the formal order put in through dealer on Ford Order online. Priority 19. Limited just looks so cool. How often do you check your tire pressures? Did you have to add Centramatic balancer? I know many are talking about Centramatic balancer, but it will make air up on rear inside tire that much harder.
Always go big
Great content folks! Your video is one of the reason the wife and i are upgrading our f350 diesel. Our goal is that in the next couple of months, we can snag a new (or slightly used) 2023 ford f450 limited high output diesel to pull our 43 feet momentum toy hauler and to keep going with the fulltime rv living. Stay safe and happy trails. Howdy from the Nevada desert!
Thank you! Appreciate you watching and leaving a comment. Happy to hear our video helped. We love our F-450! You’ll have to let us know when you pick one up. Good luck with your search. Safe travels! - Michael
Beautiful truck,
100% agree with you when you are sizing your truck for whatever you are pulling you only need to look at payload because that is the first thing you will go over and undersize. All you need to do is calculate what the payload of your trailer is and then you want a truck with double that because once you load the trailer put fuel in your truck put people in gear in your truck and load down your trailer and that does not even consider adding 100 gallon fuel tank onto your truck you are really changing the driving and safety requirements so always focus on payload then long bed to handle your fifth wheel and the drive and steering axle weights and tires should work out for themselves
Joe, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Appreciate you sharing those great thoughts as well! Thanks again - Michael
I have a 2020 F450 Platinum I ordered without the sun roof. I pull a New Horizons Majestic 40’ ( 40’ is inside measurement more like 42’ exterior) that weighs almost 24k the way we travel. Truck pulls it like a dream. I dive it daily so the wide track front en makes it more manageable. I average around 9.5 - 10.5 pulling and around 15 not pulling. I get better daily driving if it’s mostly highway. I also have a GenY go hitch I love .
I also added Centramatic’s all around on the truck, I think it helps take some of the minute vibration out . Added airbags to help level out the headlights when towing. Didn’t have much sag in the back but it was enough to affect the headlights. I think they did add a little cushion when towing , nothing otherwise.
Hey Cliff, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Sounds like you have a great rig! I just recently have learned about the Centramatic’s. So you do feel they’ve made a difference? Nice to hear your experience with the airbags, we’ve thought about adding them too. Thanks again for watching! - Michael
@@mkexp.
I think the airbags help when towing, adds a little more cushion especially on those dreaded expansion joints . I also think the Centramatic’s are worth it , I had a slight vibration at certain speeds that I think they have eliminated.

@@mkexp. we followed on ig as well. Loved it
anybody else notice @ 5:31 he says a 4k lbs payload and then it pops on the screen as 7k lbs payload lol
I have a 2021 F450 Platinum. It is AntiMater blue.. amazing truck. We have swapped out the 48 gal tank for a 68 gal, added air bags, onboard air/air tank, and of course a train horn. (A must have for smiles). We have a 44ft toy hauler we pull behind. I took my truck to a big rig tire company that services buses and trucks and had them put valve extensions on the back four. They are a must have. Easy to fill my tires now.
Sounds like you have a great setup! I really need to get a train horn. 🙌🏻 Have you liked having the 68 gal tank? I need to get the valve extensions too. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
@@mkexp. the 68 gal fuel take is a game changer when pulling the rig. Really allows you some freedom in planning those fuel stops. I also have the TSD card so i get a discount on fuel and fill up in the trucker lanes at the truck stops. Like you said, gas prices are just what they are and we just deal with them. With the bigger tank i have the ability to pinch some pennies here and their. The train horn is such a must. And the onboard air helps me maintain air pressure in my rig and truck tires.
@@pokie0622 that’s great! I’ll have to look into that. We have the TSD card too. Love it! Thanks for sharing!
Are you in Texas? If yes, what shop did all that work? How much did it cost to do the all extra work?
@@wj2791 hello. I keep my truck in Arizona. The shop there is Cliffs Welding in Mesa, AZ. For all of the work i spent $5000 (+/-) a dollar or two.
That is the most beautiful truck iv ever seen

That’s the dream I’m about to graduate high school and run a small business just bought myself a 7x18 trailer next will be a 350 but obviously no where near this spec more like an xl or xlt
Seen a f450 parked in my local supermarket recently.Been driving for 40 years and that is the 1st time I have seen one.Took up 2 parking spaces ! Huge truck
Same size as everywhere crew cab dually you must be used to a girl truck
@@pilot41186well the F450 is wider and longer. The 350 dually are already a bitch to park and if that 450s got wide tires, Goodluck
Correction if they are not directional, when I used to work at ford I used to rotate them side to so and sometimes diagonal, breaking front tires and outside tires down and and 2 inside tires just rotation them unless the wear was off I would break them down and rotate them
Bad ass truck !!
Thank you Craig!
Sweet truck
Mean looking truck thou bro!!!
Thank you!

The OG compensator
Was really hoping to see the interior. The front end on this particular generation of ford heavy duties is the coolest front end for HD trucks ever.
After watching your video a lot, I went to Ford dealer and ordered F450 Limited. I am on priority 12. I hope to get about 17 mpg none towing.
I have an 02 f150 with a v6 manual honestly would be surprised to get 17 mpg
Get me one too! 😁
Dealer finally put the order in yesterday and I am priority 19. 2023 F450 Limited.
I am still waiting and am set on priority 10.
If your RV has 3-axles, you definitely need a dually. Better to have too much truck than too much trailer. I have a '19 F-450 Platinum to pull my Jayco Seismic 4113, 20,000#, 45'10"L x 13'4"H. Made a huge difference towing my old trailer which was only 12,000# and 32'L. I went with the F-450 over the F-350 only because of the wide-track. The only thing I wish for the F-450 was that it had a 4.10 gear option. I'll never tow to the max capacity of the truck, so a little better highway mileage over the 4.30 gear would have been nice. Air bags make a huge difference. I put the AirLift system with EasyAir compressor on mine day one. The remote control for the compressor is nice and lets me adjust pressure on the fly to give me the smoothest ride. Best mileage I ever got running empty was 17.8 after putting a Banks Power Ram-Air intake on it. Pulling the toy hauler, I'm averaging 8.0, usually running 70-75mph. I'd probably be getting better running 65-70, but I don't like getting passed by semi's constantly... I've got 43,000 problem free miles on it now, and absolutely love it! Still on the original Continental tires, and looks like I still have 50%+ tread life on them. I'm exploring tire options for when it's time for new ones. Your setup looks great!
Thank you! You have a great rig setup too! I hear ya on the 4.10, it would help with better mileage. Glad to hear you like the airbags. I might do that. I’ve been impressed with how it rides on the Nitto tires, it’s a little smoother. Btw… I love the wide track axle! Thanks for telling me about your rig setup. 👍🏻
The platinum takes up the ride difference. Those seats are amazing!
Paul, thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I agree with you in the seats. 👍🏻
Yes 💯 it is what it is big truck big tank. You just can't complain about miles per gallon. ❤
Agreed! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
You're gonna make that Big Truck Big RV guy jealous
I purchased 4 valve extenders on Amazon to help me get to the rear valve of my dually for my truck n trailer. Also bought a set of double seal values. Hope this helps.
Interesting… Thanks for sharing.
What 2 inch lift product did you use and are these tires 12 ply instead of the stock 10 ply I carry a very heavy truck camper. Thanks for your help
I have mickey baja boss on35’s and it’s amazing tire, silent ride aggressive thread and walls little chip in fuel mileage over factory michelins but it’s also 9.5 wide vs 8 factory
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. Those are nice tires!
What load rating are the 35s ? Stock I believe G with a 14ply - loved our f450 but man some problems with factory continental balancing and expensive with really only two options that we found while full timing- never considered full wheel swap for different tire options
Love it! Now own a F250 Lariat to pull a 30’ travel trailer.
I just bought a Momentum 395, and ordered a 2023 450 to replace my 2022 350 SRW. Love the look of your set up. Im also considering changing to a non commercial 20” wheel and tire. I hear the softer sidewalls and 80 psi makes the ride much better. Please let us know if you had to adjust hitch height, etc. Also, was the 19 mpg with the stock tires, or the taller 35s? Did you recalibrate computer for the taller tires? Thanks for a great video!
You're not getting 19 mpg. That's BS. Just got a new F350 dually. 16-17 max.

Love to have one as an everyday RV . Awesome pick up. Are they the biggest pick ups out there across all ranges?
Nicely done! Formula I've followed is simply to ensure that the GCW of truck and 5th wheel is no more than 75% GCWR. In most cases, gives enough margin when operating under non-standard conditions like hot days and steep gradients (and altitude for gas trucks).
Thank you for sharing your formula and for watching!
One question is it hard to keep the front wheels balanced? Lots of comments about wheel hope your thoughts... The Banks family
I'm the lucky owner of the only ford f350 (sorta) built by Fontaine Modification back in the day. Brand new Red 2001 F350 XLT Crew cab, long bed, dually, dana 60/80. Sitting on full factory air suspension with a 77 gallon fuel cell down under, i call it the coffin, its so big. Powered by a built 7.3 Powerstroke, Auto, 4.30s and lockers. My truck was "born" an over the road Yacht hauler. You would back in, drop the suspension, scoop up the hitch and lift it with no manual interactions. Tabs were registered at 33,000. Also sits on 35's.
Sounds like you have a great setup! What kind of gas mileage are you getting? Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
WOW BIG MONEY HERE!
something to consider. a large fifth wheel or toy hauler plus the truck in most states are over a regular license weight. you will need a cdl. a non commercial cdl.
why not get a used class 8 truck. you can get a good used class 8 semi for the same as a brand new 1 ton.
also you won't go thru tires, oil, and maintenance as much. that semi will have zero problems towing or stopping a large fifth wheel.
Matt, valid point there. I know some people who do pull fifth wheels with class 8 semi’s. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment
But who wants to drive a semi around town when unhooked at a park for an errand or such
it is if you need one or if it can be a convenience. I know in my industry it is almost impossible to get away with anything smaller than a 3 quarter ton
biggest selling point (for me) of the 450 is the turning radius
B&W hitch is AMAZING!! Ours is five years old and we still dont see any wear
Never Regret getting the Big Motor !!!
Yes sir!! 💪🏻👍🏻
Nice rig
Thank you Todd! We appreciate you watching and leaving a comment.
May I suggest you invest in a nice set of break gages and low jack so you get it back those are highly targeted trucks for theft
Note, Fuel is not taken away from payload. The payload is figured WITH a full fuel tank. If you scale with an empty tank and nothing in the truck you will find it weighs slightly less then GVWR minus payload, and when you break the divide the difference by number of gallons you will find it pretty close to what a gallon of fuel weighs. You also lose payload on the F450 due to the upgraded suspension, front axle and heavier brakes. You get a BEAST of a truck in exchange, so if there is enough payload, should be, then the F450 is a better overall towing rig hands down.
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. 👍🏻
I don't have anything to justify the purchase. Love the truck.
Thank you!
Old guy here. Owned over a dozen diesel pickups.
Rule 1) Alway, ALWAYS, buy the biggest truck you can afford. Mileage is the same from a Toyota Tacoma to an F450.
Rule 2) There's no such thing as too much truck. See rule #1?
I have also made the mistake of going SRW for ease of commute - despite knowing better (sigh). Ended up back in a DRW. Used to be Cummins equipped trucks but switched to F450 and glad I did (Cummins is great, Powerstroke has caught up imo, but Fiat/Peugeot trucks are horrible).
Mark, thanks for watching and leaving a comment. Sounds like you made the same mistake I did… Love having my F-450 now!
I do railroad work...This my experience from working everyday with a f450 xlt with flatbed, large generator in back, 3 large toolboxes, tons of tools, etc.. pulling a 30 ft bumper pull trailer hauling a 580N 4wd backhoe and full gas tank and 4 passengers. So that's say 25k pounds trailer and backhoe not counting truck payload. The truck pulled it like it wasn't shit. Now stopping was definitely harder. I had to be careful giving myself enough space in the big city traffic. Pulling the bigger gooseneck loaded heavier than that was a breeze too. You can tell a big difference pulling it with the ram 3500 dually vs the f450. The Ford wins hands down.
That’s quite the load you had there. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I love the torque of the F-450.
notice how he said Toyota person and not Toyota guy like the rest 😂 love it great vid
Beautiful truck (and trailer). Looks like you gave up the commercial tires. Normally I would not encourage that, but wow, I love the look your truck has now.
Also, if those tires are not directional, you can rotate them left to right. In fact, since the stock rims are only chromed on one side, that's the only option you have with the stock wheels too. The fronts can't go to the back and vice versa… well, unless you want the ugly side of the rims facing out
Thank you Jeff! You’re right about the tires… You can’t rotate them. Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment!
