i am really happy we get to hear the devs' opinions regarding older minecraft and how things compare to now, especially when they bring up parts of history that aren't always acknowledged.
This may be a hot take, but I don't even want them to add the red dragon anymore... It just doesn't feel all that original, and I would rather they add new unique mobs that fit Minecraft's vibe better, like the Shulkers, Endermen, Creepers, Sniffer, Allays, Guardians, etc. Red Dragons would just be so _generic,_ and like like their original fantasy mobs better.
My problem isn't really the dragon itself it's more that I'm confident they wouldn't add it in in a interesting way. Like, it'd get a lair or something and that's it then that ONE structure would be the main one point of an entire update. I just wish updates were more substantial nowadays, I'm pretty sure the community is willing to wait for quality too.
@@someguy5085 Can't say the same for 1.19 and 1.20, but 1.21 IS substantial... I dunno why people treat it as if its not just because its all focused on a single structure. Its a big structure with a lot of content within it.
@@lasercraft32 I forgot to mention I was fine with 1.21 lol. Mainly because of the trial chambers complexity and the fact it adds some spice for seasoned PVP players. But I do have one problem, it is practically a wasted structure because someone new or newly returning to Minecraft won't know about it and there isn't really an intuitive way to know about it. This isn't only a problem with the chamber though, it's a problem for a good amount of structures and additions. Archaeology is a good example, imagine if inside of caves you could find abandoned archeology sites that are around big bone structures surrounded by scaffolding. Archeology now is really just paleontology/anthropology and there really isn't even a good reward for participating in it. Personally I really like everything Minecraft has added, ever. I just think the need to do a couple of revamp updates, to make old stuff a lot cooler and give everything a use.

I actually dismissed the devs talk video at first for two reasons: the first reason is that I thought it was just going to be a bunch of sensitized corporate lingo about the game and whatnot, and the second one is not including/talking about notch, which say however you feel about him, he is still the creator of the game and talking about it's origin without including him in some way just feels off to me, but I'm glad that my assumptions were wrong and they were just talking honestly and somewhat freely about how they feel which felt very refreshing and kind of nostalgic in a way
They weren't referring to staying over during the weekends to large amounts of work but more of the office culture of it being so chill and relaxed that they would just go there for fun. Also updates slowed and are changed because quality standards grew with time.
So I’ve noticed that in the Newest promotional stuff for Minecraft, Infinite Amethyst has taken the place of the old Minecraft Menu music that is used in videos. It’s not a bad thing, but I really miss hearing the old music and it would have been a great time to use it during the 15th anniversary! It may have been something with C418 owning the rights and Lena Raine not, but still kinda sad about it😢
C418 owns all the rights to his music, the reason mojang isn't working with him anymore is because Microsoft wants the full rights to any music in the game, which the current composers are fine with. It's a shame, C418 even has music ready for the game, their lawyers just can't agree on anything.
@@themc3140 I know that part, but they continued to use his music until somewhat recently, way after he was told he was not making the music anymore and they hired Lena Raine. "For a good game, you need to have features that people hate, and actively try to avoid, because it makes the other features better" Doesn't make any sense to me but ok.
I don't think making other features better is the right way to word it, but making features that get in the way make the player adapt. Mechanics like the rain in Breath of the Wild, or the police on GTA
It makes sense - they don't need to tryhard on absolutely every part of the game to make it perfect or enjoyable, it could be pretty much be like real life and have things you like and things you hate and things with pros and cons
Really wish they would do something about powered snow or whatever it's called, the snow biome used to be my fav, but now it's just horrible to explore it. Would be nice if frost walker or something more practical than leather boots worked, to make it less of a pain, and make snowballs stack to 64 while you're at it, breaking 2 blocks and having an inventory filled with stacks of snowballs is also such a pain.
So nice to hear Toycat being unapologetically happy and thankful for his time on YT, his viewers, and the game. It's just all around positive and wholesome.
I just wish the next big update for improving the game would be villages getting an overhaul. Like finding a mega village, where there is an like 3-5 times bigger than your average. Or something like a famers village, where most of the area is surrounded by farms, or even adding things like a farmers market to villages. Villages today are better then before but they still lack so much.
Yeah that bit about kids is so true. Once you have kids (especially in the early years), the idea of free time (like vacation or something) or spending extra time on a project is basically non-existent. The free time you get essentially becomes wind down time so that you can rest up for the next day of hecticness. And if you get any free time, you need to spend it with your kids because they are only that age once and you can't afford to miss the opportunity of spending time with them and nurturing their development.
Oh when you said food changes I expected it to be about the one in Beta 1.8 that fundamentally changed what role food played in the game. And of course I know you started with legacy console so you may not even remember that. But food used to just be the healing item. Eating healed you directly, no hunger bar, and b1.8 The Adventure Update, added hunger and changed everything. And some classic foods got a whole lot worse than they were originally intended to be due to this reframing, and never revisited. It’s a change I have strong feelings about and wish more people would talk about it. I have had a single person try to convince me that the new version of food is an improvement, and I want to like it. The argument just wasn’t very compelling.

Worlds that have terrain from older versions is always interesting. Especially if the person is deliberately going through each update just to see what changes.
This is why I hate it so much when people call Mojang "lazy" for not making ridiculously huge updates. They're REAL PEOPLE with lives outside of work, with kids to take care of... But because they don't make every update as big as the Nether Update people whine and complain about it (even though they literally got overworked and had a lot of time crunch in order to even make the Nether Update).

@Mazzy_Arts interesting. First thing I do in my worlds is find a snow biome and build there. I love the snow and actually like it building up on my houses n stuff, the snow makes everything look cozy
Playing in snowy biomes makes you change your whole design philosophy. I made a world in one & my plan was originally to build a big house going up but my brother built a tunnel between his & my base & that was it we made the farms underground & we built all the important things underground just to avoid the snow. The hatred makes you do something more fun than the generic house because you have a new problem to deal with leading to creative solutions.
I have started avoiding the newer versions because i like controller and bedrock edition is just too laggy and weird for me but this does seem interesting. I'll probably try it later
@@HeydenHarvey Yeah. Bedrock runs best on a console & somehow the phone version runs pretty well. Like giving a nice base plate to build on.) But yea it is fun to do. I often start doing one thing in a world & it becomes something else due to how my brothers are playing. Once made a floating base & my brothers added an underwater section to it so I got the conduit so we could build the bottom without the hellish armies of drowned in the game.

They COULD give us more ocean life and they WONT? Let’s UPGRADE the game you made instead of focusing on pushing almost finished content.
Like look around this freaking world dude. They released this map and we don’t have a good 50%(edit: probably actually like 90%) of the blocks they used to build it.
It would be cool if potions were "programmable", specifically cauldron potions. Maybe we could train a neural network to relate the ingredient sequences to a vector of potential effects you could get out of it. Then we could just have an infinite variety of potions we could make, and have a whole sub-game of creating the wackiest potions you can make outta it.

8:16. This is just plain wrong. If you make something that sucks, it doesn't make everything else better, it just means everyone will avoid that thing. It probably just not a priority to improve these things, if it was 100% necessary to go to these places, or do the things which suck, they would almost certainly change them. (Saying this as a game dev/designer)
Pretending notch doesn’t exist doesn’t make any sense whatsoever. Even big corporations like Walmart still understand that they had a creator at one point. Without the creator, the people working now would have a different job.

i am really happy we get to hear the devs' opinions regarding older minecraft and how things compare to now, especially when they bring up parts of history that aren't always acknowledged.
That's not a hot take
My problem isn't really the dragon itself it's more that I'm confident they wouldn't add it in in a interesting way. Like, it'd get a lair or something and that's it then that ONE structure would be the main one point of an entire update. I just wish updates were more substantial nowadays, I'm pretty sure the community is willing to wait for quality too.
Honestly, the mods have done so many cool things, that they should prioritize what makes Minecraft itself.
Thanks for linking the interviews on the description, I despise your yapping but I probably wouldn't even know about those vids without you
I was always confused about the chores fruit, like I thought it was meant to be some corrupted cactus or soomthing 💀
Maybe corrupted beetroot? That would explain the beetroot seeds in the end cities
@@TehJimlad They added beetroots to the ender city chests just because they added them in the same update.
Remember, back in the day they added stuff based on what they wanted to add, not based on logic or lore ¯\_(ツ)_/
@@Yegor_Mechanic Fun fact: Beetroots were actually on Pocket Edition for almost two years before Java got them (November 22, 2013 on Pocket, as opposed to July 29, 2015 on Java).
-Fun fact:-
-The ability to pause the game was on Java for almost... God knows how many years before Bedrock got it :)-

@@Yegor_Mechanic That's because Bedrock worlds are actually locally-hosted servers that other players can join at any time, meaning pausing wouldn't really work (same reason why opening a Java world to LAN disables pausing).

I can't believe dinnerbone lied to Jeb (and me)
I actually dismissed the devs talk video at first for two reasons: the first reason is that I thought it was just going to be a bunch of sensitized corporate lingo about the game and whatnot, and the second one is not including/talking about notch, which say however you feel about him, he is still the creator of the game and talking about it's origin without including him in some way just feels off to me, but I'm glad that my assumptions were wrong and they were just talking honestly and somewhat freely about how they feel which felt very refreshing and kind of nostalgic in a way
They weren't referring to staying over during the weekends to large amounts of work but more of the office culture of it being so chill and relaxed that they would just go there for fun.

@@James89227 Kinda, but they've been replacing him for a while. Wasn't Jeb hurt by Notch selling it off too? heard it cost their friendship.
Notch did a George Lucas and yeah, it hurt some relationships, but it makes sense to me. Working on something for a long time and losing passion is a completely fair reason, especially if you’ll make a couple million for selling it lol

Or something like a famers village, where most of the area is surrounded by farms, or even adding things like a farmers market to villages. Villages today are better then before but they still lack so much.

notch existing in a modern minecraft video is like finding a 100 dollar bill in the road, extremely rare, but oddly satisfying
The snow biomes really could use some love though.
I was born two months before minecraft was born, this is the only game that I will remember in decades to come.

The frozen biomes are my favorite
When I started my first company, when I finally got home from the office I was met with more rackmounts blasting away in my living room xD There's no escape.
Now in corporate we get stressed more for less hours, and it takes 10x as much time overall to do anything, and really easy to fix bugs stay for years because they're not officially planned in. I'm not sure which is worse, the latter doesn't have to be that way but it just is.

Old console edition is way better as it never gets laggy unless you force it to by I don't know creating a lava TNT custom flat world (I hope they add the custom flat world to bedrock as its really fun & makes the flat worlds more than just a generic grass land.
