Honestly all of those nerfs are understandable but the windburst is basically useless now, I don't understand this change, it was one of the most fun things about the mace and it's basically non existent now
Can't you still use Wind Burst with at least one damage enchantment?
Yeah I don’t get the disappointment with the damage nerf. All they did was make it so you need to drop three blocks to kill a zombie in one hit, rather than two ( or one I don’t remember).
Yeah
@@maltheokay6352It seemed like something I might want and use a lot before, but now needing more blocks of dropping to do damage significantly makes it less useful in most cases, unless of course you very specifically plan for its use. I just don’t think they should’ve nerfed it at all since it’s already hard to get.
@@chewy99. But that's what the mace is supposed to be in the first place, the plan was that you just have to use it when the situation is perfect for it. It's a situational weapon that isn't supposed to replace the axe or the sword, you aren't supposed to use it the whole time
I love how Zetterstrand and Boeving have two very distinct styles in they're both distinguishable even after being Minecraftified.
Also, Zetterstrand's new paintings look like they could have been added way back in Indev right alongside the originals, and I dig it.
3:15 oh my god thats the guy from the other painting and he is actually fighting the final boss of his game... After about like 11 years he finally made it
Hu??????
It's Graham!
The completely white figure on the right of the scene is Graham, from one of the 1 by 2 paintings.
@@ckfloss as Matt said that's graham he is featured in another painting but this time he is white "presumably wearing new clothing or having some sort of upgrade to let him fight the boss which is why he is white"
3:19 I just noticed in the bottom right there is a chess piece based on the guy with the hat from some other paintings
yeah i noticed that too!
Thats Sir Graham from Kings Quest, a game that gets referenced a lot in Zetterstrand's paintings
Graham is my fav character
Cool
graham vs giant vex
I knew they couldn't help themselves with having a cool new weapon, I'm surprised it took this long into the update to nerf it into oblivion.
Your fault
I love how the new paintings were designed by the original creator of the original paintings, it makes them seem so Minecrafty even though they are new.
When I read the change log I thought they all played in all of the biomes listed and I was a bit upset, but having Deeper play in the Deep Dark works incredibly
The "Deeper" music also plays in the dripstone caves as well as the Deep Dark.
Maybe just maybe if people stop bragging about how OP it is it'll stop getting nerfed
Nah, it needed to get nerfed. No reason to use swords anymore, and would be busted in Multiplayer. I'm glad we talked some sense into Mojang
@@magmamusic2348 i would just leave it as 1 point of damage per block fallen instead of the 0.5, the damage of the stone sword is alright but now it's kinda hard to acumulate damage
@@magmamusic2348 Even before the nerfs the weapon was extremely situational, and the gimmick is rendered ineffective if you have mildly competent movement especially with how much of a tell a wind charge launch is
Also the problem is that people cry that EVERYTHING is OP, even with almost every single Smash reveal, people were calling Isabelle busted until everyone realized she was ass
@@magmamusic2348its legit a close to end game weapon that you actively have to spend a ton of time to get most people won't even get it. There is no need to nerf it this hard.
Actually, "Humble" (the Rose) and "Unpacked" (pack.png) were by Sarah Boeving as well, not Kristoffer Zetterstrand.
It was 5 by her, and 15 by him.
I love how half the video on updates and bug changes is just toycat rating songs. I enjoy this honestly
It seems like we can’t have cool weapons anymore
Blame yourself and the comminity for complaining about the mace being too op
@@el-verdadero_mordecai-456 sorry to tell you this, but you got the wrong guy. I wasn’t the one complaining, only the people who like PVP.
@@Hyena_Razorclaw76as a person who likes pvp I am very pissed about this nerf
@@th3_l1nk28As a single player person the mace is now inferior to axes and swords and every way while easily being 10x as hard to get basically making it another crossbow or Trident.
@@Green_potato_sandwich Cap the mace is still op when used with wind charges
I have long since restricted my exploration of new chunks in my long term world. I eplored quite a bit after the second part of caves & cliffs but haven't done any since.
Has been kinda sad to be locked out of some features, but now with 1.21 coming out I feel very much validated in my approach. Will continue it going forward.
I did the same thing purposely didn't explore a lot of the world I started in 1.20 because I'm waiting for 1.21 so I don't have to wander 1000s of blocks for new features to load. Speaking of this I haven't been able to find any armadillos or new dogs yet so I'm guessing they'll only spawn in previously unloaded chunks
@@jameswesten2018You can find armadillos in already loaded chunks, I have several in captivity that spawned next to my base in a world created in 1.19!
relatable. im so scared of exploring too far in my main world nowadays lol, especially cause of how much ive already explored.
km so conscious of the fact that exploring too much could cost me a lot of time and effort finding new things in the future
@@human69. yeah... kind of the downside of long term worlds, on the other hand I quite like it how you end up having really quite different areas in the end. I mean one part of my wold having cave and cliffs terrain while the other very much does not and stuff like that. It is kind of charming to have sucha mosaic.
Precipice sounds like a spicier version of Clockwork Crafter to me.
I love the console Battle style that the trial chambers are seeming to have.
I love these new painting! Now I can build a museum full of them!
So they made the heavy core hard to get to encourage players to explore more trial chambers to get this new powerful weapon and then proceed to nerf said weapon? Now it’s basically useless in normal survival and the trial chambers will probably turn into another structure that isn’t worth exploring late game.
I believe its because people brag about it being too op.
If they made it too powerful people would complain that they are being "forced" to explore
@@mistrdavid 💯
@dylanclarke78 I can get the nurfs to some degree, but the windburst thing is kinda point less unless you're falling from 3 blocks (wich is stupid because most people are gonna use it while falling 🤦♂️)
Nerfing the mace was such a bad idea. It was good before.
They only needed to nerf PvP, singleplayer use was fun and a good balance between it and netherite. Now it does as much damage as stone sword without the drop damage to justify it not having sharpness. And then to add insult to injury they separated all the enchants including smite making it about as useful as a gold sword.
With the mace being the main big draw of the trial chamber theres literally no reason to go out of your way and do one unless you want decorative stuff. Completely ruined the update highkey
They were just trying to listen to the community 🤷
@@InvalidUser_ mojang has to balance everything for multiplayer too you know?
Have you tested it in Both PvE and PvP settings on the recent Bedrock Beta?
Precipice sounds festive. Good one to play at Christmas.
Precipise has some EXTREMELY strong Pokemon Mystery Dungeon vibes to it if you ask me
I was thinking it's great Christmas music
@@Modern_Monk71Agreed; the bells at the start of Precipice sound so much like the bells from the Whos' Christmas song in the Grinch TV special.
Same, I was thinking of primal dialga or rayquaza or something.
I couldn't shake the Home Alone vibes. Glad to see I'm not crazy 😅
@@Modern_Monk71 Idk why but the beggining reminds me of the Ed Sullivan Show intro for some reason
I still want C418 making new music sorry can’t get over it! I do respect the new composers
something about his ability to make music for this game is just perfect, i’d love for someone to remake all the new songs into his style
@@pythonl0rd584maybe he himself could do it as a side project, better yet, if Microsoft isn't willing to partner up, maybe C418 will release album 3(independantly from Minecraft) as a celebration for 15 years of the game's existence
Because fun fact, album 3 is complete, C418 just couldn't strike a deal with Microsoft
I prefer the new music, over C418, but that’s just me…
@@hassanbutbored Where was this stated? I don’t recall reading anything about that. 🤔
They should add tougher enemies instead of nerfing the mace
YOU ASKED FOR IT TO BE NERFED
@@el-verdadero_mordecai-456NO WE DIDNT NOBODY WANTED THAT
@@el-verdadero_mordecai-456 No i didn't
@@th3_l1nk28 literally every comment section was "Nerf the mace it is way to op"
@@el-verdadero_mordecai-456i didn’t
The music review got me all nostalgic for the old Minecraft songs and now I want to be 8 again
Thank you toycat as always
I'm so excited to replace some painting around my world so things look a lot more diverse for my builds.
Avoiding the muisic disc for the update myself till I can find that stuff myself in game.
I love that one based on the default texture pack png. I'm absolutely placing it on my house!
They really need to make more things 64 stackable
Shocked that anything still stacks to 16
I've been absolutely loving this update and the direction it's going. However, I wish the music was not biome-specific. I would love to be able to hear some of the songs in the game, but it sucks that I will probably never hear them.
Some of the biome-specific music makes sense like underwater or the deep dark, but like why do I have to go to a dripstone cave to listen to a song?
It'd be cool of they added a music box ( or disc) like terraria so we can record the biome specific music.
That is kinda funny. There were many songs that were biome specific from C418 that were made for that said biome.
Either way, probably someone will make an addon/resource-pack/mod that will or that does allow u to play all songs indiscriminatly. I have seen some in BE some time ago
i suppose i wont get tired of hearing a song i like over and over if its in an uncommon biome.
It’s called ambience.
@@JuanPiece. im sorry you have to put up with that
Precipice really has the vibe of the old battle, glide, and tumble tracks. It's honestly really cool.
percipice is going right with ward and pigstep as my choices of music whenever i make a custom boss in minecraft hooray!
just got to remember the name....
I can not wait to watch it… but I’ll have to do it tomorrow…
Wow, the deepslate audio fits perfectly!
We Lost The Mace 😭💔
THEY SOLD THE BEST PART OF THE UPDATE... 🥺
the mace will now join the trident and crossbow, can't have anything in Detroit... 😔
Genuinely, wtf is anyone doing with crossbows. No damage mod and it’s really slow? I forget that it’s like an actual weapon and not garbage drops
The trident does more damage than a netherite sword in both versions how is it useless
i like the trident
bro, the mace could kill most mobs from above 3 blocks. And could also pierce armour, boost you up in the air and an extra damage buff if you find the enchantments. And you really expected it to not get nerfed?
Trident is wayyyy more useful than you think first is can conduct lighitnget second it can be used for traveling third it has a big reach and fourth it can do more damage than sword in some cases.
I’m SOOO excited for the new paintings!!
The painting made by Zetterstrand really made me smile like all these paintings look so familiar and nostalgic but I’ve seen them for the first time ! I’m glad Mojang got Zetterstrand to make more paintings
The only thing missing right now is whatever is behind that mysterious door in the trial chambers. The one where it looks like something should be there, but nothing is.
The start of both creators give me chills so I think I like the other one more.
Why the bots 😭
What bots?
What bots?
What bots?
What bots?
The bots with inappropriate pfp
The mace suuuuuucks. The community fumbled the feedback. Instead of making a trident they made a beetroot weapon.
It’s actually balanced, a three block fall can still kill an unarmored player, I don’t think anyone actually thought the devs were gonna let the one shotting of bosses stay in the game
@@ottovonbass-mark5424 it never had to oneshot bosses, it just isnt practical to use vs a normal sword. Riptide and imp make tridents worth getting but the mace doesn’t have anything that you cant do easier with alternatives.
I agree especially as a pvp player in Java this ruined the viability
@@Koi-Avatar my biggest issue while using it is that its movement enchant is really bad. It is not worth using if you actually want to combo.
@@ironicpants2651 I agree but even if you could combo the damage is so low compared to before that it’s going to be a lot harder to kill a maxed out player
Without calculating critical hits, with strength 2, the mace does from 11 blocks:
Density 5: around 66 damage (33 ♥️)
Breach 4: around 38.5 damage with 60% armour reduction
still pretty solid imo when you do the calculations! Without strength 2, just take away 8.5. Also, I think you can have fire aspect on the mace which is cool. Use wind burst to combo if they use a totem
edit: oh and now mace has 500 durability, have a great day!
I like that they’re experimenting with new styles in the soundtrack and paintings. Really reflects the tinkering theme of the update!
The loom idea is a very good one, i hope they do implement that.
Outro joke pretty good, 8/10! Precipice sounds like Christmas music to me, and I have a wary relationship with Christmas music… )it would be fine if they confined it to the 2-3 weeks before Christmas, but no, they now start playing it in stores November 1 and continue until at least a few days after Christmas… 😑)
pokopoko has that mix between TLOZ dungeon and ghibli film
I am sooo glad they added another deep dark specific song, having the current one on repeat gets old very quickly
It might be what you were hearing but ‘komorebi’ heavily references another one of Kumi Tanioka’s tracks ‘Comforting Memories’
I like the old Minecraft music. Not from nostalgia, some are just boring, but because of the loneliness and self deterministic calm they vibe. I think that is the perfect place for a single player survival world which is how I play most of the time. The up beat modern ones just don’t work with the calm play style.
It would be nice to be able to limit which songs that are played in the game native.
The new paintings, while a bit dark, I love. Especially Tides and Orb.
I guess the with the old songs, I hang onto every note, like hanging onto every fleeting moment. With the new songs I get lost in a sea of notes and am carried by the rapid flow from one note into the next.
I like the slow and calm.
7:40 reminds me of the Steampunk and Halloween Battle map sounds tracks!
Precipice sounds like the soundtrack to made in abyss, a show/ manga about minings into an abyss to collect valuable recourses and discover the lore of their ancient world. Pretty convenient.
Different idea: you should be able to change the painting my right clicking it with a brush:)
Ferret, owl, I thought it was a lemur first time I seen it
I honestly believe Eld Unknown sound be it's own disc. It's one of my favorites in the Soundtrack.
The soundtracks are great!
Do you know how to play the preview on bedrock?
With all the new paintings I’m kind of hoping the fire, water, air and earth paintings will make it into the game as well.
?
@@Bobbybats4295in java edition there are four unused paintings that can only be obtained with commands. These paintings are called fire, water, air and earth.
the new music discs looks fire 🔥
Personally I’m hoping all paintings get added to the archeology system.
Nah, the archaeology system was pretty bad and it wouldn't make sense to arbitrarily separate what should be one item into like 30 or however many paintings there are
Love the newest banger discs from Aaron and Lena.
I wish we could craft a ''Jukebox in a minecart'', so that we had a way to travel while the music discs playin' xd
Maybe there could be something you can craft with amethysts called a Resonator that both increases beacon range somehow and extends the audibility of jukeboxes
Honestly, I think the new music hit the nail on the head in creating the "Minecraft vibe". I am excited to pick this game back up sometime and hearing these tracks.
Deeper also plays in dripstone caves. So not necessarily just deep dark music
0:27 PLAY THAT SLOWLY AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THE DEOXYS BATTLE THEME! that’s actually really cool
It's crazy how old Munecraft the new paintings feel... Of course, the same guy who made the old ones made these. Makes sense!
Creator was the first song from the 1.21 soundtrack, followed by precefice. Immediately knew they would be discs
I kinda figured they were adding three music discs since there were three composers that made music for this update.
Poor Kumi Tanioka...
interesting mace changes, we'll see how it is in game.
nerfs don't feel good tho
Can't believe they added the Chao Departure machine music to minecraft
I have the real live version of the tides painting in my living room
Love more paintings!
I am definitely replacing the music for the 3 new music disc's with my resource pack with some minecraft parodies lol
Maybe it's just me but wouldn't it be correct to use "precipice" when doing a trial chambers with the ominous effect?
It's a battle theme, not a disc theme
You think theyre gonna give bedrock offhand wind charges or are they making it just for java
this is why we can't have nice things. (the discs are good though!)
It would be cool if they added jump boost potions to the trial chambers
I agree precipice is the best soundtrack of 1.21. EDM in Minecraft? Sheesh
Someone should speedrun finding all the music tracks, background music and music discs 🎧🎶
Do you think that Mojang should change the model of the mace to be more 3D when shown in the players hand? The texture for it in the players inventory is fine (IMO) but when I see people walking around with that thing in their hand, all I can see is a giant fly swatter, and nothing even close to a mace. (QnA-S)
I understand the base damage decrease but ruining the mase’s primary purpose is a bad idea. Minecraft was doing so well with this update and now when it comes out, people will inevitably spend lots of time trying to get the mace because they saw TikToks or something only to be disappointed.
Apparently Kristoffer Zetterstrand is Notch’s former brother-in-law
True, but he's not controversial like Notch
im surprised none of the new ambient music was exclusive to the Trial Chambers
Long range music discs, you mean a frisbee right?
I think we should get to buy a few of the painting from the wandering trader
3:09 could this be a hint for an end update?
Featherfall and puzzle box feel the most like something c418 would make...
new soundtrack is peak
Bro the ac sounds like a song you would use showing cinematics of a Minecraft world great song
"Speaking of terrible for you, I hope you enjoyed this video." But dude, you're awesome!
Oh I REALLY don't like Breach being incompatible with other damage enchantments. If I recall, Breach only affects armor....
And, honestly, the Density nerf combined with the base damage nerf has me a bit conflicted. I don't hate it, but I certainly don't love it. Perhaps a better middle ground is 6 base damage? Like an Iron Axe on Bedrock?
It’s not like it’s super weak. Even without density one wind charge jump height will kill everything but Golem, the warden and bosses.
1.21 is looking so good! Never in a million years did I think more paintings would be added the only thing that would blow my mind at this point is if they add new plants.
I don't know if it's me but in Precipice I can hear the motif from the song "alpha" by C418
If they cant allow you to choose paintings via a loom, I would like it if you name a painting to a named painting on an anvil, it locks it to that painting
Maybe they could use the honeycombs and change the painting with the brush to any other paintings in the same dimensions that you placed
6:58 This sounds like a super cool track for a Geometry dash level!
I want a level that uses this track N O W !
Finally, 3x3 paintings
Pokopoko has a similar sound to Pikmin 2 cave music… like a little…
Puzzlebox gives off the same vibe to me that Flake does.
Creator > pigstep?
I was really excited about getting to use the mace, but not anymore now that is basically useless. 😢
You can still instakill most enemies just by using it with a windcharge; kinda stupid everyone keeps complaining now that you can't use the mace like it's a sword replacement and that it's actually somewhat balanced in pvp now.
Anyone else notice the white silhouettes of the guy in the 2x1 painting in the endboss painting?
Does anyone else feel like Eld_unknown sounds like something out of subnautica?
This channel deserves more views. 1.87 Million subscribers and alot of these videos don't even pass 100K which seems like a good amount of views for a channel of this amount of subs
Man i understand the dmg fall off for the high end but why did they make it as powerful as a stone sword with normal hits. I knew they wouldn't likely let u use all mace enchant for same mace but dang
Honestly I feel like the pack.png painting would look better if it were 2x2 instead of the giant size. I think some if the charm from pack.png comes from the lack of detal and low resolution.
