    A slow roll is when a player purposefully pauses before calling a (usually all-in) bet with an extremely strong or unbeatable poker hand. It’s also considered a slow roll when a player intentionally pauses before revealing the winning hand at showdown. 20 years playing and still doesn't know shit.

    • @raywestcoast98
      @raywestcoast98 2 года назад

      He did pause and slow the showdown action with the "nuts". There is no combination he loses for given the action. This is clearly a slowroll. Ur just a donk who also doesn't know a thing about poker.

    Phil had nothing to get mad at. Baxter played well and had a great hand. Phil couldn’t do his normal complaining about how bad the opponent played or how lucky he got. So he had to invent something to get mad at. This is obviously not a slowroll, everyone knows it including Phil.

    • @raywestcoast98
      @raywestcoast98 2 года назад

      Well ur a donk. That was a slowroll. He slowed the showdown action for no reason, because his pocket KK was unbeatable for that board by the action. He is either totally clueless how to play poker or he slowrolled. Thats why Hellmuth was so mad.

    • @OJuggernautO
      @OJuggernautO 2 года назад +7

      @@raywestcoast98 He didn’t slow anything down, he announced two pair and Phil didn’t react at all. So he turned over his hand immediately after that. Phil was more mad that he announced “two pair”, which that IS technically what he had, but you don’t typically say that when there’s a pair on the board and you have an overpair. But it isn’t a slowroll. If he had pocket 3’s, said “two pair”, and then took forever to flip his cards, THAT would be a slowroll. But as I said. Baxter didn’t even take long to flip his cards.
      So yeah, there was no one TO get mad at here. The hands played themselves. So he had to invent something to make Baxter somehow be the “bad guy” to justify his angry tirade. It’s classic Hellmuth stuff.

    I get what Hellmuth was thinking. Announcing "2 pair" implies that you dont have a pocket pair and you made 2 pair with the board. Baxter with pocket Kings should have said "kings" because saying 2 pair is kind of redundant because the pair of 3's was shared by everyone. That being said, Hellmuth was just whining about losing a pot.

    • @sam.lipchutz
      @sam.lipchutz 3 года назад +11

      I think Baxter reckons there's a decent chance he's up against trip 3s. He should probably say "Kings" but I don't think there's any intent to slow roll given how quickly the call comes and his hand is turned over.

    • @OJuggernautO
      @OJuggernautO 3 года назад +24

      He doesn’t have to say anything. He doesn’t have to say “kings”. He said what he had, and he had 2 pair. Baxter did absolutely nothing wrong, and this wasn’t a slowroll. I had a player accuse me of slow rolling once on a play just like that. I had pocket Queens to pair with 10's on the board. He held J/5 for Jacks over 10's. He made a big thing out of it just like Phil did here. About forty minutes later we're head-to-head with my trip sixes and his pocket Aces. At the river the board is busted so I know there's no flushes, straights, or boats. With no pairs on the board I know he can only beat me with higher trips. He raised me and I just called because I feared he might have me because he was betting so heavy. When I called he turned over his bullets and I just sat there for about four seconds and then turned over my pocket sixes. As I did so, I said " now this is what a slow roll really is." Honestly everybody got a little ticked at me but I felt it was important to make the point of not complaining about a slow roll unless there really IS a slow roll. And a couple of players even said "he's right, that was a slow roll, that hand before wasn't." Phil just needs to grow up.

    What is Phil saying here? I'm really trying to understand why he thinks this is a slow roll... So if the guy didn't say anything, and then turned over 2 kings, that would have been ok? But because he said "2 pair" like half a second before he turned his kings over, then THAT'S a slow roll? Is there anyone who thinks that Phil has a legitimate argument here? I'm seriously trying to understand, cuz I don't want to slow roll anyone...

    • @Born2Punch
      @Born2Punch 3 года назад

      Turns his cards over awfully slow and says “two pair”. If you have overpairs here you don’t say two pair. You’d say kings. Phil literally said that. It is such a cunt thing to do to actually say two pair.

    • @notorioezz
      @notorioezz 3 года назад

      @@Born2Punch I disagree. "Kings" is not one of the 10 pokerhands.
      High card
      Pair
      2 pair
      Trips
      Straight
      Flush
      Full house
      Straight flush
      Quads
      Royale
      So announcing 2 pair is correct. If Phil were to respond 1 pair both players know who wins. If Phil were to announce trips, both players still know who wins. But if both have 2 pair, it comes down to which cards exactly. That's when you announce Kings. And to be fair, I think he really put Phil on A3 so set of 3's or pocket in hand and set one of the other cards. The guy even said sorry. It was never the intention to slow roll. Clear as day. No offense

I remember at the WSOP he had a set of 8s on the turn but the guy turned the nut straight and Phil paid the guy off and then criticized the play. To me Phil always seems to get himself (being too clever and trying to trap too often) into trouble (allowing his opponent to make the nuts) and pays off the pot and doesn't like that he was beat, even though if it was the other way about he would do the same thing and would say its world class poker.
