I had a player accuse me of slow rolling once on a play just like that. I had pocket Queens to pair with 10's on the board. He held J/5 for Jacks over 10's. He made a big thing out of it just like Phil did here. About forty minutes later we're head-to-head with my trip sixes and his pocket Aces. At the river the board is busted so I know there's no flushes, straights, or boats. With no pairs on the board I know he can only beat me with higher trips. He raised me and I just called because I feared he might have me because he was betting so heavy. When I called he turned over his bullets and I just sat there for about four seconds and then turned over my pocket sixes. As I did so, I said " now this is what a slow roll really is." @@HopyHop1 it's not a huge deal but pretty much Phil is going to raise the river with all of his hands that can beat any overpair in this spot so any overpair is in fact the nuts when you get check called on the river here. So the man value bets 3 streets with 2-pair. What 2 pair could Helmuth possibly beat that would bet like that? Did he really expect the guy to turn over 96 or 66? When the man announced 2 pair those would be the only hands he could beat. As for me, I would be astonished to see anybody play either of those hands that way. When he said " 2 pair" Phil should have know he was beat.
He for sure should have kings, but hellmuth was literally only beating a bluff, so If Baxter didn't Muck after, he should have known he was most likely going to lose the hand
I believe you mean "he for sure should have SAID have kings", but he doesn't have to do so. Saying two pairs, and then turning them over is enough. There's no slow roll there if you turn them up before your opponent does, especially if you're betting all 3 streets PLUS pre-flop.

Totally agree with Viffer. Hellmuth called so quick it was ridiculous. So glad Viffer spoke up. Hellmuth is entertaining but he sound like an idiot when he mouths off like this
He could have a 9 with a better kicker. Apparently Phil was upset because he thought “two pair” meant he had won the pot, but there was no reason for him to think that. Was he going to bet a two pair hand that Phil could beat for three streets?
Casinos say the cards speak for themselves, but if you were in my house and did that and I was a neutral observer of the hand, I would have said you called two pair, that is what you have. If you argued it, I would have asked you to leave and never come back.
It's one of those, unwritten "poker etiquette" rules. Baxter, at this time, wasn't a professional player, yet. You can CLEARLY see he is hesitant to turn his cards over, while having the winning hand. This is what made Phil upset and said that he slow rolled him.
What is Phil saying here? I'm really trying to understand why he thinks this is a slow roll... So if the guy didn't say anything, and then turned over 2 kings, that would have been ok? But because he said "2 pair" like half a second before he turned his kings over, then THAT'S a slow roll? Is there anyone who thinks that Phil has a legitimate argument here? I'm seriously trying to understand, cuz I don't want to slow roll anyone...
Turns his cards over awfully slow and says “two pair”. If you have overpairs here you don’t say two pair. You’d say kings. Phil literally said that. It is such a cunt thing to do to actually say two pair.
@@Born2Punch I disagree. "Kings" is not one of the 10 pokerhands. High card Pair 2 pair Trips Straight Flush Full house Straight flush Quads Royale So announcing 2 pair is correct. If Phil were to respond 1 pair both players know who wins. If Phil were to announce trips, both players still know who wins. But if both have 2 pair, it comes down to which cards exactly. That's when you announce Kings. And to be fair, I think he really put Phil on A3 so set of 3's or pocket in hand and set one of the other cards. The guy even said sorry. It was never the intention to slow roll. Clear as day. No offense
Phil has the nerve to criticize the play when he recently called an all in with Q4 and got very lucky against 99. I remember at the WSOP he had a set of 8s on the turn but the guy turned the nut straight and Phil paid the guy off and then criticized the play. To me Phil always seems to get himself (being too clever and trying to trap too often) into trouble (allowing his opponent to make the nuts) and pays off the pot and doesn't like that he was beat, even though if it was the other way about he would do the same thing and would say its world class poker. You think if you have made millions from Poker you would calm down a bit lol
There is a poker etiquette in the pro circle about how to call the cards you have but Mike Baxter wasn't a pro at the time. He was a businessman just like Laliberte at this table. That's also why Baxter apologized quickly assuming that Phil was right to be angry. Hellmuth should have known there were non-pros at the table so he was out of line.
That was not a slow roll. So many hands beat him. What you are calling slow roll is old school mentality. Slow head. It is why Hellmuth was great, but lags behind and is just a name.

Taking a long time to turn over your hand at showdown when you have a monster such as quads like you think you might be behind or tanking then calling when facing a shove with the nuts. Baxter did neither of those here.

Can we now get the interaction between Viffers K9o and Phil Helmuth AKo please...
There are 20+ pros I would love to play with just for the conversation (Daniel Negreanu and others) but to watch PH go volcanic would be worth the price of admission.
Meanwhile Viffer tells people to die in a grease fire when he loses online 😂😂😂
Lol
That is a slowroll but Baxter definitely didn't mean it he's just an amateur. He asked eli Elezra what he had before showing him a set of fives once.
You definitely need to say Kings when you get called there not two pair.
@@mrx7181 Disagree. There is a difference between what an experienced player would say vs. what a slowroller would say. It's more comfortable to say Kings there but he still had two pair and not a set or fullhouse.
He said two pair and he had two pair. He showed his hand within a second after saying two pair. I think you're splitting hairs. Moreover, how on earth can PH criticize anyone for bad poker etiquette? He's by far the rudest player I've seen on video.
@@HopyHop1 it's not a huge deal but pretty much Phil is going to raise the river with all of his hands that can beat any overpair in this spot so any overpair is in fact the nuts when you get check called on the river here. If you can beat a nine announce your hand as "tens" "jacks" etc. because your opponent clearly cannot beat an overpair.
@@mrx7181
IDK, from what I've seen of PH it seems like he was simply fishing for an excuse to throw a fit because he's a sore loser.
Baxter says "two pair" because Phil insta calls River bet and Baxter probably thinks Phil could have the JT for a Straight.
Phil and I must have a different definition of slow roll hahaha
So the man value bets 3 streets with 2-pair. What 2 pair could Helmuth possibly beat that would bet like that? Did he really expect the guy to turn over 96 or 66? When the man announced 2 pair those would be the only hands he could beat. As for me, I would be astonished to see anybody play either of those hands that way. When he said " 2 pair" Phil should have know he was beat.
Phil biting his earpiece on glasses to butch up is so funny to me
I thought slow rolling was when you take a long time to call their all-in even though you have the nuts, just as a way to torture them
Does anyone realise there was a possible straight on the board? Especially with the snap call, Baxter might well have doubted he is ahead!
‘I’ve got a pair of aces, and another pair of aces’ said Del Trotter in the 1990’s. That would really have set Phil off
1980s
How is that a slow roll, he raised every turn???
did it never occur to him that he might have an overpair when he raises preflop and bets standard sizing all three streets?
He for sure should have kings, but hellmuth was literally only beating a bluff, so If Baxter didn't Muck after, he should have known he was most likely going to lose the hand
I believe you mean "he for sure should have SAID have kings", but he doesn't have to do so. Saying two pairs, and then turning them over is enough. There's no slow roll there if you turn them up before your opponent does, especially if you're betting all 3 streets PLUS pre-flop.
How to overvalue top pair with shitty kicker... sign me up for that masterclass 😳
I like how he tells viffer "your gonna look foolish to other poker players" who looks foolish now?
"You look pretty ridiculous to all the poker players out there"
Well.....the sides of his head are purple....he looks ridiculous to all of us.
Phil is the only person I know that has himself convinced that he loses because he's a better player.
i guess helmuth is saying baxter knew phil didn’t have 3 3’s based on how he bet so he knew he had won the hand with the King high double pair and did the “slow roll” but it’s a bit of a stretch lol
Baxter knew what was coming, and he was trying to keep the fireworks down to a minimum by not being in Hellmuth's face about his win.
Phil sucked in that hand, easily could have been against trip 3's his rag 9's were nothing to call with.
This is just part of Phil's schtick to get other players off their game and do what he wants.
That isn't slow rolling.. He kept betting and Phil kept calling... I would've said I had Kings, two pair. Only different thing I would have done.
Either way Phil didn't read that he had a high pocket pair. Also if buddy had a nine, Phil's kicker wasn't great, being a nine. Buddy just played pocket kings on a low board. Good play.
U didn't get the point clearly. Pocket KK is the "nuts" there. The guy slowed the showdown action for no reason, he always had the best hand there. That was the slowroll.
@@raywestcoast98 How is KK the nuts? What about aces? Or a straight? Or a trips or a house? Or literally any of twenty hands possible with that board that beat pocket kings?
@@raywestcoast98 Um... please check your poker hands again. That was not the nuts. Look at Joshua's post. And that's not a slow-roll anyway. Only the caller can slow-roll and it only happens on the river. Hellmuth was the one calling on the river.
3:09 _"A world class player like yourself"_ was the funniest part of this clip. If only he knew how terrible Hellmuth is. 😂
he was definitely needling him 😂
You just said a player with 17 WSOP Bracelets was _"terrible."_
He's one of the greatest poker players of all time. Disliking him personally won't change that.
Hellmuth could've had trip 3s so that's probably why Baxter said "2 pair" because he didn't think they were good, I don't think this was a slow roll
Totally agree with Viffer. Hellmuth called so quick it was ridiculous. So glad Viffer spoke up.
Hellmuth is entertaining but he sound like an idiot when he mouths off like this
Phil, Phil, Phil...😂😂😂 you were beaten by the better hand, move on!
I think he got decent value from Phil for his KK.
He could have a 9 with a better kicker. Apparently Phil was upset because he thought “two pair” meant he had won the pot, but there was no reason for him to think that. Was he going to bet a two pair hand that Phil could beat for three streets?
If you check twice or more with that hand and that board that is NOT a slow roll 🤣
I called my quads 2 pair once and sent some psycho at the table through the roof.
Now that was in fact a slow-roll.
Casinos say the cards speak for themselves, but if you were in my house and did that and I was a neutral observer of the hand, I would have said you called two pair, that is what you have. If you argued it, I would have asked you to leave and never come back.
If you turn your cards over before the other guy, it’s NEVER a Slow Roll
Exactly.
High card
Pair
2 pair
Trips
Straight
Flush
Full house
Straight flush
Quads
Royale
So announcing 2 pair is correct. No offense
Phil telling someone that poker pros are laughing at them? Priceless ignorance xD
I love Viffer. Even though he bad beat me for $100k+ in a short handed cash game at bellagio around this time he’s still a legend. U the man Viff
Nothing could be more satisfying than seeing Phil Hellmuth get crushed! Phil Hellmuth: Bad Taste; Bad Manners; Foul Mouth.
Plot twist:
Baxter really did slow-roll knowing he’d deliver yet more Hellmuth rage content
That was not a slow roll.
So many hands beat him.
What you are calling slow roll is old school mentality. Slow head.
It is why Hellmuth was great, but lags behind and is just a name.
I can usually see where Phil is coming from when he loses his shit, on this occasion though...
The worse Phil acts the more bad luck he runs into
He literally tilts himself.
Yeah, Hellmuth was totally wrong, being a bully, basically calling a guy an idiot because he played smarter than someone who is a legend in his own mind, then using his legacy to disrespect a guy who respectfully begged to differ.
I like the little hole cards shuffle he does just before mucking . He does it a lot, looks at the cards themselves with such distain .😂
Lol! How is that slow rolling???
I respect Phil less and less every time I see him being a prick for no reason. The man clearly thought he was crushed which is why he was hesitant to flip them over. You can tell by his body language he thought he must have played the hand terrible.
"A world class player like yourself Phil" lol! 😂
Someone needs to do the "Play the game" routine from "one flew over the cuckoos nest" with phil. That'd really get him going.
He played the hand fine, bet bet bet. Phils just angry with himself for being such a sucker
What man allows another man to talk to them like that. Phil would be in danger of getting slapped on camera.
"He didnt even know what hes doin"
Baxter in his mind: "I WON... thats what i did!"
he took 3 seconds to turn them over. phil didn't even say he had called or finished betting as baxter wasn't even looking
"HONEY...HE CALLED ME WITH A QUEEN AND A 10" !!!!!😆😆😆😆😆😆
What does slowroll mean?
Taking a long time to turn over your hand at showdown when you have a monster such as quads like you think you might be behind or tanking then calling when facing a shove with the nuts. Baxter did neither of those here.
PH was outta line in this one. P.s. i love PH but this was not so nice.
