Poker strategy is better now, but Poker isn’t great now, it would never make TV, it’s full of internet introverts that make it boring to watch, before Black Friday, everyone was a personality, now it’s painful to watch.
The best of the best outside Jamie Golds fluke win. I've never seen anyone never get out drawn or take a bad beat, get flushes, have the nuts every hand or top pair off the flop every time. It only took him 2 months to blow all 4.5 million on high stakes poker late night.
There's nothing great about poker now unless you consider endless tables full of anti - social, hoodie wearing, spectrum dwelling virgins that nobody wants to play with- let alone watch- "great".

You can talk what ever you want but Phil is one of the most interesting players ever. I watched poker because of him Eli, Daniel and couple of more guys.
Phil Helmuth is a living caricature, it's like he's been created as the antagonist in some Hollywood writting room for a poker version of the movie Kingpin.
I can't believe that guy folded 3 Jacks to Phil after Phil stood up and pitched that fit when he raised. For Phil to sit back down and re-raise with a K on the board, there's no way I'm putting him on a set of kings. There's zero chance I would believe he had a strong enough hand to 3 bet after that little spectacle. I would have snap called with the 3 Js
Easy to say when its not you in the WSOP Main event and the nittiest player wants your tournament life,Anyway he min raised so he is obviously bad what do you mean i cant believe that guy folded?
If I recall correctly, there was quite a bit of drama after this aired over ESPN editing this hand, fabricating it to create more action. You can see when they show the 10J in Tony's hand he has a stack of chips in his right hand and the cards in his left, the very next fold frame he isn't holding any chips and the cards have switched hands. I think the general consensus between the editing and the improbable fold was that this hand never happened.
To those that thought the Tony D hand was fake. While that's a possibility, just because they show him peek at his cards while the dealer is dealing, doesn't mean that was a different hand. It was just edited out of order.
I’m SO GLAD they showed his parents. Yes he’s the “poker brat” … but he’s also a kid whose parents showed up to cheer on their son. I genuinely loved that part.
@@Chalky29 yea, plenty of logical explanations aside from being fake. Pretty sure dudes chips were blocking the hole cam after hand was dealt, so they used initial footage of him looking.
We make fun of Phil but you can see from the look in his eyes when he goes to his parents how much it means to him. I’ve heard people who know him say it’s not an act and he really is that driven and it really does mean that much to him. I believe it.
I have a lot of respect for Phil despite his antics. I was bullied for years at school, and as an adult I have always felt this need to prove to others that I am something. Whenever I get insulted even if it is just banter by a friend, it makes me feel very uncomfortable. I always feel like I have to win to feel relevant around people. When it doesn't happen, I can cope with losing. But in poker where you lose to complete stupidity, that is really really hard to take. I do think Phil tries his best to curb his behaviour but cannot help himself. It's very difficult to not be proud of yourself when you probably didn't feel much love growing, but then become one of the greatest at something.
that ending gave me a whole new dimension of respect for Phil, that's the face of someone who is so passionate about his dream, that can´t bear the tears when seeing it end
